Fantastic quality sushi is a big deal for me, and being the new girl in town, I decided to try Mikado. At first glance the menu is very eclectic, having Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese dishes and I knew I'd be all set with this array of yumminess. I've tried their lunch specials, the bento with beef bulgogi, sushi special bento and both did not disappoint. Both came with soup and salad and were very tasty! I've been at the sushi bar for a pint, a Hip Hop special sushi roll (PLEASE add this to your main menu or keep as a constant special because that smoked jalapeno was chef's kiss) and some gyoza. We decided to come here my husband's belated birthday celebration due to the amazing reviews and they certainly lived up to their expectations! Peyton was our server and he was phenomenal, very kind and attentive to our needs. I loved the industrial look of the restaurant and it had really cool vibes when you walked in. Pretty disappointed with our takeout tonight. We ordered the fried rice which comes with veggies and egg as said on their website, there is no egg or veggies, just rice. We ordered crispy spring rolls for $8 and were surprised it only came with three. We also ordered tofu hibachi noodles and thought it would come with veggies too, how it normally is in the restaurant, but it's just tofu and noodles. The fried sweet potato roll was the only good thing we ordered. Prices were also more expensive than listed on the website and there was a (small) takeout fee on top of that. Sushi Wa in Fort Edward is better imo and you get a better bang for your buck. read more

We were refused service because they refused to sit 5 people outside at a table. It was 5pm on a Thursday. The restaurant was maybe 20% full. There are 4 empty tables outside that seat 4 people each. We "can we have a table for 5 outside?" And the hostess responded "No. We can't sit 5 outside" we asked if we can pull up a 5th chair and she responded "No." No explanation. Mikado is nice place to go for dinner. They have menu with many options, such as their fresh Poke Bowls. Their Scorpion Bowl for 2 was delicious! I'm a big fan of Shumai as well and theirs were terrific. The service was great and I was able to feel comfortable explaining my food allergies to them. Everything turned out great! The inside looked like any other Asian restaurant. If you're in Glens Falls and are in the mood for Asian food, Mikado should definitely be your top choice. 8/10 read more

Probably one of my worst restaurant experiences yet Me and my sister came here with my niece and asked for a sushi boat for 2 with chefs choice of verity knowing the 3 of us could eat plenty from the boat, the server comes back with 2 bowls full of sashimi and rice...sushi and sashimi are 2 very different textures and flavor profiles if you ask for and are expecting sushi the last thing you want is 10 slabs of raw fish and after paying $90 for 2 meals the least we could of gotten was what we ordered .... we ate a few bites but it was not what we order and we're not impressed well we were packing up our food my sister asked the waiter what one of the ingredients were that she liked he proceeded to pick up that item and take it away from the table to go ask the chef what this piece of food was.... This is a truly great restaurant. There are actually 4 different experiences you can have here and they're all generally well above average. It's gone down hill a little bit. It's got a lot of back kitchen stuff up front... stacks of napkins... receipts, etc. it looks a little like a takeout restaurant at the host station instead of a proper restaurant. You can eat at the bar... and get cocktails. Sit at the sushi bar and have them make special sushi dishes. You can sit at tables and order from the menu. We decided to go to Mikado for our first night out! Mikado's is a Japanese restaurant in the heart of Glens Falls New York. We started off with a garden salad and Miso Soup! The salad was okay but the Miso soup was tasty it has dashi stock with softened miso paste and green onion, tofu, and seaweed. It was done well and wasn't bland. For my meal I had Kangpung Shrimp. which is deep fried shrimp with sweet and spicy sauce. It has lots of fresh crispy vegetables carrots, green onions, onions, and broccoli. It also had mushrooms. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned well and was not salty which is always a concern of mine. The shrimp portions were generous and fried to perfection not to hard and not undercooked. We also had a signature drink which was tasty Called a Pretty Princess with Sake, peach liquor, cranberry juice and calpico. The calpico gives the drink a vanilla milky bit of flavor. My husband and I have had food from this restaurant about 5 times, both eat-in and takeout. We moved here from NYC a few months ago, LOVE ramen, and have, for the most part, enjoyed trying the local restaurants. Our experience here has been extremely hit or miss. The 1st time we got ramen, it was pretty decent. The last 2 times, it was not good at all. The noodles were completely over-cooked. Today, in particular, everything was bad. We got 2 ramens, fried rice, and spicy kani salad. The kani salad was in the same bag as the hot food, which, as a cold appetizer, is just lacking common sense. It also tasted weird, which was a huge disappointment. I've had this twice before and enjoyed it. Both ramens had overcooked noodles, and the fried rice tasted off. It's really unfortunate because if they just took some simple improvement measures, I'm sure this place would be better. We spent over $65 and don't enjoy any of our food. read more

Mikado is a beautiful asian fusion restaurant in downtown Glens Falls. You can tell that they put a lot of attention to detail in the decor and the different seating types. The same attention to detail extends to their food, which includes everything from sushi and bento boxes to Korean dishes and Vietnamese pho. There's also a hibachi area in the back, although I've only been in the more intimate seating areas. On a recent visit, we tried a variety of sushi dishes and a poke bowl. Portions were more than generous, the fish was fresh, and they were very accommodating with substitutions. I don't eat rice, so they were nice enough to substitute the bottom of my poke bowl with salad. Our server was also great and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. read more

The thing that left me feeling unhappy was the 3.6% service charged tacked onto the bill for using a credit card. This restaurant was recommended to us so we tried it. One of my colleagues ordered beef teriyaki and about half way through she found a large piece raw Chicken in it. We alerted the server who reportedly told the owner. After a while the server came back and said "I told the owner and he is Making you another one". The server also said casually that "They must have just tossed a piece of chicken in it." As if it were no big deal. The bigger issue is that the owner did not even come talk with us and seemed to think it was no big deal! Raw chicken is a big deal and if my colleague did not see it and had eaten it, it could have been serious. Also, they charged us for the dish, to add insult to everything else. read more
