Formerly Zou Japanese Steakhouse, Daifukuoffers a full service bar, regular table seating in the back dining room, and hibachi grill room seating. The pricing is moderate high.
I took my Mom to Daifuku for Mother's Day dinner. Upon entering, the staff greeted us, but they were trying to figure out who would be serving us at our table. After 90 seconds, we were being guided towards the back dining room, but as we walked past the hibachi grill room, I quickly informed the host that we would be doing hibachi. We were promptly seated at a hibachi table which already had a family of 3 seated and they just ordered their hibachi meals and receiving their sushi plates. The waitress arrives promptly to take our drink order and also brings out the dipping sauces for the hibachi meal. Knowing the other party was ready for the hibachi chef, we quickly placed our order in for a Hibachi Steak Dinner ($25 plus tax) and Hibachi Salmon Dinner ($27 plus tax), which both include clear soup, fried rice, noodles, & vegetables.
We also started out with the Sushi Pizza appetizer ($12 plus tax), which had 4 triangles topped with spicy tunn, avocado, crunch caviar with roti and a creamy drizzle on top of a thin crispy fried crust, ginger, wasabi, carrot flower garnish, plated in a star shape. The sushi pizza was quite good, though i recently had a bigger sushi pizza (round) at another Japanese restaurant in Downtown Saratoga Springs. The clear hot broth was brought out next.
The hibachi chef arrived with a pushcart of ingredients and checked off what each diner was getting. The grill was fired up with the rice, noodles and veggies on first. The chef banged around the spatulas on the grill, but no egg juggling, just egg premixed poured onto the grill and the volcano onion tower was completed. The fried rice and noodles were served first, then the meats and seafood were cooked and served. The chef flipped pieces of zucchini to each diner's mouth and the veggies (zucchini, broccoli, carrot, onion) were finally cooked and plated. The portion sizes were generous. The salmon teriyaki was very good and tender. The grilled steak pieces were a bit chewy. The fried rice was salty tasting with the excess soy sauce and the soft lo mein noodles were good and the fresh cooked veggie pieces were firm. Most diners needed to go boxes for the food. I actually finished my antire plate. We passed on dessert, and got the check which was $68.48 with tax and before tip
Overall, we enjoyed a fun, tasty and very filling hibachi dinner. The service was prompt through the meal and we weren't waiting around. I would probably come back here for hibachi, but for special occasions. read more
