Mijo, spanish meaning for "son" or "buddy". We felt welcome right from the start. Bright and vibrant decor with points for ambient lighting. Staff is super attentive and will surely get you the best the house has to offer. Take your choice of indoor seating a great bar and an inviting outdoor patio. Whichever you may choose you can bet that the classics will always be available from their bar in appealing fashion. I ended up pairing Parliment Hazy with HH Oysters, but you get the idea. It's just the start but best believe I'm coming back for dinner to try the Grilled Octopus and all the Paella I can handle. There's also a Crispy Eggplant dish the bartender raved about so the future looks bright for Mijo.

For a warm Sunday afternoon, Mijo was delightful. We just had the happy hour. Out server was nice but make sure to really read the happy hour menu. It says, beers $6 and we thought it meant all beers. There's plenty of parking and the food is fresh.

I forget what this one was called but it had goat cheese and a slice of peach

I came here for happy hour.... Definitely not that crowded which was nice. The outdoor patio was nice too. The food was expensive even for happy hour and small portions.. 3 items I ordered plus the paella came out to be $70 plus tip... felt like I was paying for a regular meal instead of happy hour. Food was mediocre.

Great service, food was tasty, they were able to accommodate my food allergy. Definitely recommend the paella!

Visiting the area from the east bay and I'd have to say I will be coming back! I arrived early for happy hour with my partner and the staff were so friendly. We seated immediately at the bar, despite the nice ambiance they didn't mind our very casual dress code. Honestly, my favorite part was the food recommendations from our bartender Dre and the fun energy him and Cj brought to the restaurant, y'all we had a timeee!! Now, the Hartha bread (did I spell that right? Idk) was on point, I needed more. My partner ordered the Deep fried green tomatoes (yes I was up in his plate) and I ordered the scallops (no I didn't share). We have small stomachs so this was perfect for us with drinks. I can't wait to bring the girls. Thank you for an amazing meal!

I was so excited to see a tapas place open in Marin and this place truly delivered. The ambience is fresh and inviting. The cocktails are crafted with a bit of magic, we'll balanced and simply delicious. The food was seasoned perfectly, and the gazpacho was the best I ever had. I can't wait to come back and try more items!

Food: absolutely unique, delicious and beautifully crafted. We tried smocked scallops tartare which was cool smoky taste but the reveal of the dish was the winner! We of course tried few other dishes like shrimp and paella, i can honestly say that everything tasted very good and fresh. Ambiance: I like the space, it's pretty cozy but also cool and modern. I enjoy the view of the bar and seeing the kitchen, amazing chef's at work. You get emerged into the atmosphere and experience. Service: it was okay honestly. I can't lie and say it was great because our server was a bit distracted. We had our dirty plates in front of us for a bit and no water refill. We tried to get his attention but he seemed busy. However I would say that bunch of other servers came by and no one assisted us with water. Overall, I would definitely come back again. Maybe sit down on the patio or the bar. Just see how feels.

Classy ambiance with open kitchen and a spacious outdoor heated patio. Service from Dominic was friendly, attentive, and informative, especially with my nut allergy. We got the octopus, scallop ceviche, asparagus, artichokes, along with glasses of Spanish wine (Condado de Haza). Everything was delicious but our favorite was the scallop ceviche, which came with a generous amount of taro chips which we enjoyed dipping in the romanesco (has pistachio and almond, so my friend enjoyed this on her own since I am allergic), nettle salsa verde from the asparagus, and lemon herb aioli from the artichokes. We look forward to coming back to try happy hour and brunch!

Come for the excellent paella and tapas, stay for some of best cocktails since Guesthouse (not coincidentally from some of the same team). Great hospitality and a well-designed space (those booths!) will make this a perfecto happy hour and dinner location for I am hoping years and years.

There are many good places in Marin but few are the same or as good as places in downtown San Francisco pre-covid. The quality of food and drinks, ambiance, and service of Mijo are akin to, if not better, than many popular restaurants in downtown San Francisco. Kelli and Alberto were so awesome, and I really appreciated Jamalle/Jamalla in trying to find my sunglasses I left my last visit. I absolutely love this place.

Service was amazing. Food was THE BEST. Don't skip the steak medallions or paella. One of the best restaurants in Marin!

I was excited to visit Mijo back in April 2025, as there aren't any decent Spanish restos in the area. First impression, the hostess at the front and a couple of staff were super friendly, pretty cool decor inside, basically what you'd expect to find in an area w more restaurant options. So far, so good. Then our waiter approaches us, and proceeds to talk to only my friend, barely looking at me. I'm a bit offended, but no sweat. We ordered the crab cakes, artichokes and paella. Waiter stops by a few times to ask if we want more water, still only looking at my friend. At this point, I felt like a child accompanying my parent lol. Food arrives, and it's pretty mediocre tasting to me. Nothing mind blowing. I think I would've been happier if there was more flavor, and I'm not talking salt! More herbs, aioli to accompany the paella, something. It seems everyone in the area really loves this place, so maybe I need to give it another shot, or maybe it's just not my kind of spot. I'll have to visit again and let you know. For now, 3 stars tor being the only authentic Spanish restaurant in the area. I do wish them success.

overall B: atmosphere and service great, for a fast-seated happy-hour supper; good tuna ceviche, decent gazpacho, fun peach cheese bites, large shishito peppers, mezcal & gin cocktails. Well priced; recommend.

Is it a good happy hour?

Not sure what you mean by happy hour but the bar scene is busy around 5pm. The drinks are great and it's a fun yet adult atmosphere.

The remodeled outdoor patio is really something to behold- it's a beautiful cozy setting, especially on a warm evening. For several years now this has been just about my favorite spot to go to in the bay area and certainly my number one Marin spot! Sometimes just to sit at the bar and have a nice exquisite craft cocktail is a complete joy. Or, if you only want a pizza, this is the best place to do it as the wood-fired pizzas are second to none and who doesn't want some pizza and good beer? With a price that's not out of line in comparison to the region. Check out the private dining area which can be shut off and secluded which is great for meetings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, or graduation events. Oh, and let's not forget the succulent desserts. Be sure to take a stroll before or after dinner, and check out the captivating retailers at this charming shopping area known as the Marin Country Mart. There are even freestanding retailers in the various parking areas. Most assuredly, a good place to spend an afternoon or evening. ***Please note that I'm in two areas frequently southern California and Northern California. So I post my favorites in both spots.

Pretty bland, small portion for $24 (4 small pieces). I don't feel like the seating set-up is super optimal for groups larger than 4. Both were tasty, but neither was memorable enough to make me feel the prices were justified. Service, on the other hand, was very good. Our server was friendly and attentive. The strangest part was the seating. We were placed next to a service area hidden behind a curtain, except the curtain did nothing to block the noise.
