Honestly, my favorite part was the food recommendations from our bartender Dre and the fun energy him and Cj brought to the restaurant, y'all we had a timeee!! Now, the Hartha bread (did I spell that right? Idk) was on point, I needed more. My partner ordered the Deep fried green tomatoes (yes I was up in his plate) and I ordered the scallops (no I didn't share). We have small stomachs so this was perfect for us with drinks. Two great experiences at the new Mijo Marin! The food is delicious and the vibe is elevated but not unapproachable. My only complaint is that the staff seems less than thrilled to welcome you in. We loved the paella and the patatas bravas. The paella was moist but still crispy in some places, which was perfect for us. I'd recommend the small paella for 2-3 people and the large one for 4-6 people. We also tried the squash blossom special last time and it was delicious. We ordered the eggplant chips (pretty dry) and camarones as well. The waiter casually asked us if we wanted bread and my husband said yes, then we were charged $12. Seemed a like sleezy to me. Very fun, delicious food, decent service for a full Friday house. Loved my Pink Gintonica martini and fun glass! One big disappointment was finding out after 3 glasses of wine was the pours are 3-4 oz! We were wondering how we could have gone through so much wine in a short time!! Love the squared off wine glass but it's deceiving so double check before you spend too much on your wine! Other than that we found the food beautifully presented and crafted. Food was all pretty good with a few hits and few misses. The short rib peppers and the grilled Caesar were insane. The chicken and pork chop were also super good but not easy to share. Smoked scallops were fishy (sad - they could have been great!) and the eggplant chips were tasty but served lukewarm/cold. The server said they were meant to be serve cold?? Mijo, spanish meaning for "son" or "buddy". We felt welcome right from the start. Bright and vibrant decor with points for ambient lighting. Staff is super attentive and will surely get you the best the house has to offer. Take your choice of indoor seating a great bar and an inviting outdoor patio. Whichever you may choose you can bet that the classics will always be available from their bar in appealing fashion. I ended up pairing Parliment Hazy with HH Oysters, but you get the idea. It's just the start but best believe I'm coming back for dinner to try the Grilled Octopus and all the Paella I can handle. We got the octopus, scallop ceviche, asparagus, artichokes, along with glasses of Spanish wine (Condado de Haza). I was excited to visit Mijo back in April 2025, as there aren't any decent Spanish restos in the area. First impression, the hostess at the front and a couple of staff were super friendly, pretty cool decor inside, basically what you'd expect to find in an area w more restaurant options. So far, so good. Then our waiter approaches us, and proceeds to talk to only my friend, barely looking at me. I'm a bit offended, but no sweat. We ordered the crab cakes, artichokes and paella. Waiter stops by a few times to ask if we want more water, still only looking at my friend. At this point, I felt like a child accompanying my parent lol. Food arrives, and it's pretty mediocre tasting to me. Nothing mind blowing. I think I would've been happier if there was more flavor, and I'm not talking salt! More herbs, aioli to accompany the paella, something. It seems everyone in the area really loves this place, so maybe I need to give it another shot, or maybe it's just not my kind of spot. This is a beautiful new restaurant that has been remodeled and looks fantastic, with very comfortable booths, and a nice bar area. The staff are exceptionally nice as you would expect from the owner of this restaurant. We enjoyed our meal very much, and had a salad, the large Paella, and also the whole Branzino fish. I've been looking for a good paella in Marin County and I would say this is probably the best one. The fish was perfect, a very tasty white Branzino. It was quite enjoyable. I had the opportunity to try Mijo a few weeks ago, and was excited about their outside patio that was supposedly heated. We started out disappointed where there was one floor heater vaguely pointed outdoors and that was it. The outside seating was super cold - definitely bring a jacket or two if you're planning to sit outdoors. We went for a few dishes to share: Eggplant chips: this was the highlight of our meal. The chips were crispy, had a great balance of heat and sweetness, and overall had great flavor. Wood grilled octopus: the octopus was cooked reasonably well, but would have benefited with a bit of a char. The inside was tender at least but lacked the texture contrast. It came with some potatoes that were quite undercooked. Short rib stuffed peppers: this was a great dish, but an incredibly small portion for the price! If this had at least 50% more of a portion, would definitely get this again. Make sure you slurp up the sauce with your peppers if you get it. Mijo Paella: the paella was mediocre at best. The flavor somewhat lacked depth, the rice was undercooked, and I wish they had a nice layer of socarrat at the bottom (there was none for ours). I'd skip this, although this was one of the dishes we were looking forward to personally. I tried their Black Old Fashioned, which was far too sweet. I'm not sure if it's due to the averna but it limited my ability to appreciate other notes such as the cinnamon or maple shrub. The food itself was about 3 stars, the service was probably closer to 2 stars. Our server was hard to spot, and the first 3-4 interactions was a brief: "oh! Let me get you some water" essentially on repeat spanning 15 minutes. From there, we were never asked about our food, and only got a water refill when we were paying our check. Honestly the service had a lot of room for improvement. It's still early in their opening, so I'm hopeful for improvement. But this experience left me hesitant to return, aside from maybe an order of the eggplant chips. read more

We showed up on Sunday night without a reservation, and while every table was full, we were able to sit at the bar by the wood fire oven. This place is bad on multiple levels and the only reason it gets decent reviews is because the restaurant looks nice, but that's more or less where the positives end We eat out often at all sorts of places and it caught my eye that our bill was over $200 - based on the quality of the food, drink, and portions, I'd have guessed way less than that. They also add an "optional" service charge to your bill - I don't have a problem with this as many restaurants do it, but it is so tacky to call it optional when the only way for someone to not pay is to ask the waiter to ask the manager to remove the charge Their drinks are bad and the food feels like someone who doesn't know how to cook was asks to make "fancy" food. I mean the ahí crudo is tuna covered in syrup - literally - try and see, it's awful We had to send one of the cocktails back - thank goodness they'd made the wrong cocktail because whatever they brought us was terrible On top of all that, we got to hear the bartender cuss left and right. We recently stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night and they were quite busy. We were excited to sit out on their patio but later realized that they did not have heat lamps. It was quite chilly outside so we were disappointed there was no heat available considering it's cold at night most of the year. We ordered Eggplant Chips, Wood Grilled Octopus, Short Rib Stuffed Piquillo Peppers and the Mijo Paella to share. Our favorite dish was the Eggplant Chips. The chili honey was delicious with the chips. The Short Rib Stuffed Piquillo Peppers were great as well but portion was a bit on the smaller side. It comes with 3 stuffed peppers. The Wood Grilled Octopus was okay but I wish the octopus was grilled a little longer (they were still slightly chewy) and the potatoes were undercooked. As for the paella, I wish the paella had cooked longer to soak up more of the flavor and the rice was undercooked as well. They were probably rushing orders out on a busy night and the restaurant is still quite new. Interested in trying their other dishes next time! We didn't see our server for most of the night so it took a long time just to get water and the check at the end but hopefully services improves in the future. read more

So disappointing! I was excited to try based on all the reviews. Went for dinner and ordered a glass of wine and the small paella. The wine was good however I was surprised for a tapas place the limited choices of Spanish wines. The paella was terrible. The rice was flavorless with only a few pieces of chorizo to be found. The clams and the mussels were so overcooked they were barely existent and crunchy and the three shrimp on the plate were mushy and had no flavor. The service was not very attentive. Overall I would not recommend this place. Hopefully it was just an off night and I hope they improve the quality of their food and service. read more

Saw the high reviews and stopped by for dinner! Unfortunately it didn't deliver the quality or service to render the price! Food was ok but not great! We order oysters, it maybe was fresh but couldn't really tell when it was covered with salt and vinegar sauce, cannot really taste the oysters! My husband order grill fish and a side potato, one came up much earlier than the other. Home made bread wasn't bad but few pieces for $12 was a bit too much! Service was ok but not great! Our plates were used and dirty few times, but until I asked, no one brought fresh new plates. When new plates were placed, yet missing silverware! Ambience was god but nothing special. We sit across from the kitchen and the dividing glass was dirty... ruined part of the fun for watching the cooking. read more
