    Cornbread (very sweet)

Overall: expensive, fast casual bbq, good variety on the menu, food was okay, single stall inclusive restrooms, changing table but no high chairs, cute ambiance and decor The servers were nice and the ambiance was cute and clean. There are only two fast casual spots right there by Colorburst and neither of them have high chairs which is a huge short sight. I never understand why bbq restaurants are priced so high. The food was just okay. Some things were ready right away and others needed to come out later. The chicken was dry, the Mac and cheese was thick and not balanced, and the cornbread was too sweet for my liking. The brisket, pork, fries, and sauces were okay but nothing I enjoyed enough to return for. I was excited about their menu and the variety of sides, but the meals are set up so you can only pick one and then you get cornbread or a drink. I wish you could pick any two sides because i didn't want cornbread or a drink and I can't eat cabbage, so the slaw it came with went to waste.

As an amateur BBQ aficionado, I couldn't pass up this new BBQ outpost located in the Merriweather District which is right across the street from Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. I knew I was going to have a great meal when I was greeted by the sweet aroma of smoked wood. I had the opportunity to try a little bit of everything, which was delicious but the entree that slapped me silly was the Dirty Fries. It was the perfect one dish meal that combined a nice helping of fries and pulled pork that that was lovingly coated with their signature BBQ sauce. And let's not forget that Chili Lime Sauce, I drizzled that baby all over the fries and it took it to another level! I was so enamored by the sauce that I asked if I could buy a bottle.

4.23.26 Hubby and I stopped in for dinner around 5:15 PM on a Thursday. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich combo with a fountain soda and beans, plus a two-meat sampler (ribs and brisket) with mac & cheese and cornbread. Each entrée can be made a combo, which includes a side and either a fountain drink or cornbread. Orders are placed at the counter. One critique: the lighting made the menus difficult to read--there's a noticeable glare. Repositioning the fixtures would make a big difference. The staff member we interacted with was very friendly and shared that they waited four years to open, which is commendable. The highlights for me were the ribs and mac & cheese. My husband preferred the beans and the pulled pork sandwich. That said, we both found the brisket and cornbread to be dry, and the coleslaw a bit plain. I also would have preferred the food to be served hotter--it was closer to room temperature on my tray, though my husband's beans stayed piping hot in their container. Overall, we found the food to be average for the price. We'd likely choose Mission BBQ or Famous Dave's next time. That said, after such a long road to opening, I do hope they find their stride.

The entire staff is friendly, professional and ready to lend a hand at every turn. I want to give a big salute to The Mission BBQ Family !!! Now, I know I said, they're more than just food... Well, the food takes on a life of its own. I'm talking absolutely mouth watering delicious ( every dish ) I stopped here for the first time because I was craving a slow cooked smoked cheeseburger... and I was satisfied from the very first bite ( and the seasoned fries complemented the burger like a puzzle piece !! ) the burger was my dine in order... I also ordered turkey & pulled chicken to take home for dinner. And when I tell you if I could, I would have done a back flip at how scrumptious and tender the meat was ( compliments to the chef for being super on point with his seasoning and grill game ! ) Now my question to the establishment is who created the side of the day ? "Broccoli salad" This hands down was the best side I ever tasted... it was like a form of broccoli coleslaw that hit the right tune with my tastebuds ( this is a must have... which means I'll be back out Columbia Crossings within the next week or two !!! ) FYI: Their summer lemonade is the perfect concoction to wash down every awesome meal on their menu !!!! How was this my first time hearing of Mission BBQ.... Lucky Me !!!!

STAY AWAY. Absolutely horrible service!!!…read more Our server, Nye, was incredibly rude & the whole AYCE experience felt like a complete rip-off. He repeatedly gave our orders to other tables & when we complained and tried to order more food, he told us we COULDN'T order anything else until our missing orders arrived. Except THEY NEVER CAME!!! After waiting 20+ minutes, we complained again and Nye gave us such a rude and condescending tone and response: "We have other customers too ya know." Seriously?! WE'RE CUSTOMERS TOO, ya douche bag. It got so ridiculous that 38 MINUTES into our meal, our table of FOUR had received a grand total of TWO plates of meat - even those were the plates we had to take from the neighboring table because our food kept getting sent elsewhere. And here's the kicker: AYCE is only 90 MINUTES. More than 1/3 of our allotted dining time was basically wasted waiting for food that never came, while our server wouldn't even let us order more. We only FINALLY started receiving our meat after we complained to the Vietnamese manager. He immediately stepped in, got things moving & extended our dining time to make up for the ridiculous delay. Shout out to him!!! But having to escalate to a manager just to receive the food we were PAYING FOR is absurd. And maybe Nye felt like he didn't have to bother because the gratuity was already automatic due to our party size. That would certainly explain the complete lack of effort. When your tip is guaranteed regardless of how badly you treat the table, I guess actually serving your customers becomes optional? STAY AWAY or at the very least, pray you don't get Nye as your server.

The menu offers a nice balance between curated bowls and build-your-own options, and everything on display looked vibrant and genuinely fresh. Even the subtle aroma of garlic in the air set the tone in the best way. I don't usually go for chicken (I cook enough of it at home), but being from Hawaii, there was no way I was passing up on their limited-time Huli Huli chicken. For those unfamiliar, traditional Huli Huli chicken is typically bone-in, skin-on, soaked in a brine, marinated with a blend of soy sauce, ginger, brown sugar, garlic, and pineapple juice maybe rice vinegar or ketchup, it's all left to the cook. Basted several times as the meat is flipped until fully cooked. Back home, you don't just eat it--you experience it. You smell it long before you see it--grilling on those iconic half oil drum kettles along the roadside, often set up for fundraisers or local gatherings. The sight of chicken quarters being flipped ("huli" means "turn") and basted over open flames is pure island nostalgia. So yes, expectations were high. I was offered a sample, and it delivered. The flavor balance was spot on--savory, slightly sweet, and deeply satisfying. The chicken itself was moist and tender. The only thing missing was that classic crispy, charred skin and the full leg quarter presentation you'd find back home--but even so, it didn't disappoint and left me wanting more. My bowl came together beautifully with coconut sweet potato sauce, fresh spinach, garlicky cilantro green beans, and basmati rice. It was flavorful, well-balanced, and delicious. Service was another highlight--the staff was friendly, patient and helpful with recommendations. The space itself is not large to eat in but it was clean, bright with ocean-toned blues that nod to its island inspiration. I'll definitely be back--especially while that Huli Huli chicken is still on the menu.

Tender juicy chicken, gently-flavored up to hot-hot-hot!…read more I like their medium spicy chicken sandwich. I find that the Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken Jr. sando is a nice size mid-day meal, with chicken that is almost 50% larger than the bun! The chicken is juicy and tender, with a with a thin flavorful coating that holds all the heat. The way they spice it, the heat builds up, so shoot a little bit below your first taste and it'll build up to a nice warmth. There is a nice layer of slaw that cools the spice a little bit. And a pickle. I'm ok with the pickle slice, but for me, it's a distraction on a simply-dressed sandwich like this. I found this place tucked at the far end of a small easy-to-miss strip mall in Columbia MD. It wasn't busy, which is good because there isn't much parking in front, but you could also park on the other side. It's worth a short walk :-) Pro tip: Order ahead on their app, because they fry it fresh for you and it takes about five minutes. I do have a complaint about their app! On the way to the store, I tried for about five minutes to log into their app. Nothing worked. Not a reboot, not a change-password request. Nothing. The app knew that I have an account, but it just wouldn't let me in. I like their chicken, a lot, so I just drove here and waited the five minutes! First world, problems, I suppose. I love that their chicken is made fresh for me. I want to be able to order in advance. Sorry, but you lose a star for that, on this visit.

The fries with cheese seasoning were way better than I expected. Crisp, fresh, not too oily and the seasoning had a complementary sweet flavor that pairs really well with the sandwich. Everything had a hint of sweet, which seems odd to me but I think it's common in Korean dishes? At any rate, it was good. The Thai tea was ok. It had a hint of that Thai tea flavor but its stronger and better at other places.
