Oil still leaking from the same spot when I brought the car home
    J S.

I previously gave them 5 stars, but based on my last two visits, I'm no longer bringing my car here. The office staff are friendly but their mechanics seem to have a lack of attention to detail. At a previous visit to their Chicago location for an oil change on my aircooled Porsche, the mechanic didn't tighten down the oil drain plug. I got home and had a small pool of oil under the car and the plug was loose enough that I could hand-tighten it. They reached out to me and apologized, and asked for a second chance. Recently I needed another oil change and was having a small oil leak, so I thought I'd give them that second chance. I was told their aircooled tech moved to their Northbrook location, so even though it was much less convenient, I brought the car up there. I showed a picture of the leak to the service manager (though it was very easy to spot just peeking under the car), and after an inspection they recommended a costly amount of work to fix other minor leaks which included replacing two gaskets and seals, and a valve adjustment. I was told it would fix all of the issues they found, so I approved it and they finished the work within a couple days. Immediately when I got the car home, I noticed oil on the floor and a quick peek under the car showed it was still leaking from the same exact place it was initially. I get it, the car is old and they leak a lot, and sometimes it requires more work than initially planned. But I expect a mechanic to drive the car after working on it to make sure it's actually fixed, and if it's still leaking, tell me what it will take to fix it before giving me the car back. These two visits just seem like the mechanic is rushing through the work. Both problems seemed pretty easy to spot before the car left their shop if they would have taken the time to inspect it after testing. I feel like if I ever brought my car back there, I would have to inspect it myself before leaving the parking lot because I can't trust that it was actually fixed, which is not the kind of service you want from a mechanic.

Where do you go when you're in the heart of the city and have a 18 year old beemer you're trying to stretch some life out of? MPC We have an E46 in the family that needed a few things to stay road worthy. The staff at MPC gave me updates and follow up calls on whet we were looking at. All in all, the car was basically completed after three days. Pretty convenient and it drove like new.

Having read many of the reviews, I decided to try them out for myself. I have found Jonathan and Chris to be a great team and given superb service on Porsches. Not only do you get a photo update and report with pictures taken throughout they really know their cars. Are used to take my car to Porsche, but I have found that these guys a superb job and give you even better service. I have no problem recommending Midwest Performance Cars to you and your Porsche. Also give you a extensive warranty on the work that they do which gives you peace of mind. Thumbs up!

Excellent experience! Customer service was great. MPC topped off my oil (at no charge) until I could get in for an appt; when it came time for service MPC was very communicative & explained everything. Estimate was very thorough & loved all the details; including pictures. I truly appreciate the respect, and excellent service shown to me! Thank you :)

They were good about letting him know his options. Fast forward to modern day, I was in need of rear brakes. I searched on Yelp for places with good reviews and used the project functionality. Transtastic came up on my radar again. Gary quoted me a fair price on Yelp for my rear brakes. My first day off of work, I called Javier to see if they could get me in. Upon arrival, the team quickly pulled my SUV into their garage. Javier did a quick inspection to determine if the dealership diagnostic was accurate. Javier recommended that I service both brakes and was thorough in educating me about why my front brakes also needed to be replaced. I left my vehicle with an estimation of 3 - 4 hours. It was completed in less than 3 hours. By the time, I was walking out the door, Javier was ordering my parts. I was satisfied with his communication and honesty in timeframe. Overall, I felt informed of what was going to take place with my vehicle. While I didn't plan on getting both brakes, I understood that the front ones were heavily rusted as so see with my own eye a few months back. This auto shop doesn't have much of a waiting area but plenty of shopping, eateries and even a library to bide your time nearby. The customer service here was superb and I am happy to use this place to replace my brakes. I easily saved 33% coming here versus the Mazda Dealership. Tip: bring cash or pay with debit to avoid 3% service charge.

When I arrived I parked across the street and immediately noticed a significant dent above the drivers side tire. The dent had a black stain, which felt like grease when I wiped it. I also notice footprints on the bumper. This damage was not there before I bought the truck in, it clearly occurred while the truck was in their care. Juan, the technician claim the dent was already there. The receptionist stated the shop has cameras and they would be reviewed. There were no visible license or information identifying the owner or manager. The receptionist said the manager is Silvano and he would return my call on Monday. When I called on Monday Juan answered, was rude and unprofessional. He refuse to provide the owners name or accept any responsibility for the damage or explain the footprints on the bumper. In good faith I brought my truck in for service. After 4 days I expected the repairs to be completed-not for my truck to be damaged and stepped on. I do not recommend this business. I strongly advise videoing your vehicle. Delgado has refused to take accountability for the damages caused while the truck was in their possession.

I can't say enough great things about Avondale Auto Repair, Nathan, Rick and their staff…read more As a first-time customer, I came in with what I thought was a simple issue--my 2017 Toyota RAV4 key fob suddenly stopped working. I'd replaced the battery before, so I tried that again... nothing. My (very mechanically inclined) husband tried too--still nothing. That kicked off the search for a replacement, and wow--what a frustrating experience. The dealership quoted me $600 to replace and program a new key. Automotive locksmiths were all over the place--$180, $250--and the whole process felt vague and transactional, like you couldn't get a straight answer without jumping through hoops. Then I found Avondale Auto Repair through the Costco Auto Program--and everything changed. Rick answered the phone, and within seconds I felt reassured. He was straightforward, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest. Instead of trying to sell me something, he explained the pros and cons--how aftermarket keys often don't last, and how they source directly from the dealer but can usually save customers about $100. No pressure. Just real, helpful information. When I came in, that same feeling continued. The shop itself is clean, bright, and welcoming--nothing like the typical auto repair environment. Nathan (Rick's brother-in-law) was at the front desk and immediately made us feel comfortable. Friendly, genuine, and incredibly helpful. Before recommending anything, he opened up my key and inspected it to confirm it wasn't just a battery issue. That alone told me everything--I wasn't being upsold. They were actually trying to help. Then Rick came back from lunch and did the same thing again, just to double check. I paid a deposit and they said they'd call once they got the key from the dealership. It took a few days. Even though they were short-staffed they week of my FOB order, Nathan handled everything with professionalism and kindness. He called three different dealerships to track down my key (since it was out of stock everywhere), coordinated the order, and made the whole process seamless. When I came back to drop off my car, even the staff helping me park were warm and courteous--it's those small touches that really stand out. We used to have a go-to repair shop nearby, but after a change in ownership, it just hasn't been the same. Now, we've found our new place. Avondale Auto Repair didn't just fix a problem--they earned our trust. And that's everything. That's how you do it, Nathan and Rick!
