I am so thankful for this team. They came and installed a very good quality furnace and AC for a fair price. We were quoted 5,000$ more with another company and that was them "giving us a good deal." They spent all day and had good workmanship. You can tell that everything that was installed was good quality. I'm writing this 3 months after install since we had our air ducts cleaned by an outside company and when everything was turned back on, our thermostat wasn't working. One of their techs, Ryan, tried to troubleshoot with me over the phone and when we couldn't figure that out he came out to our house a few hours later despite not having an appointment available until the following week. It ended up being a very simple fix luckily. This was above and beyond if you ask me. I previously hired Midway Heating & Cooling to do a performance tune-up on furnace and AC roughly 3 years ago. Was inexpensive, technician was professional and courteous, all around positive. I hired them again this summer for tune-up, and to wire furnace (gas) allowing for hooking up a generator. Everything seemed fine. Yesterday evening, go to turn furnace on and it's not working, giving an error code. Possible (altho odd) that literally first time turning it on since it was tuned up, it'd fail. Cycled power, still failed. Opened the unit up and found a on/off switch set to "off" inside. Set it to on and furnace fired up just fine. Spoke with Midway Heating and Cooling and they provided (IMHO) a half-baked quasi-apology, that the technician likely forgot to flip the switch back to on after finishing the wiring, and quasi-assurance that was indeed the issue. Mistakes happen. While frustrating that the technician seemingly forgot to flip the switch back to the ON position, again, mistakes happen. But to then compound it with the half-baked quasi apology, and not confirming with a technician that indeed this situation could happen and the switch is fine to turn on... just enraging. I can't say whether they would have recognized the error of their ways, taken account and NOT charged for someone to come out (had I not conducted the troubleshooting myself and needed someone to come out), but their (lack of) customer service suggests I'd have received a bill for them to fix their error. read more

Over 100 degrees today, and my A/C stops working at the end of the work day. I called three companies, and Midway saved the day! They arrived within an hour and for my unit working within an hour. I didn't get the technicians name, but he was FABULOUS! He explained what was wrong and how he fixed it in language I could understand, and the price was reasonable, even with the after-hours fee. Some companies would have added on more fees due to the extreme heat but not Midway. I purchased a Lennox furnace and A/C from Midway for about $1,000 less than the other guys on a Thursday. They arrived quickly (on Monday) with two guys that made short work of modifying my existing ducting and installing the A/C unit and furnace. It worked well, but I had a problem. I have two homes and I need to be able to leave the home in Portland and go to my home on the mountain reducing heating and cooling in Portland, programming heat or cool for when I return (often 2-3 days later). First, they installed a Honeywell T6 thermostat that does on allow programing individual days. I wrote back to Midway and they came right out and installed a Honeywell 8000 thermostat, which works great. I was given a quote of $3,300 from another company, who also charged me an additional $85 for the quote. Thank goodness I saw the sticker on my furnace for Midway Heating Company - who'd serviced it years before, because they gave me a free quote and charged me $500 less. They offered to fix the furnace for $600 but it was 30+ years old and high time it was replaced. Better now, when the air-conditioning quit working, than in the winter when the heat would go kaput. Because of the unusually hot weather, they were swamped and could not come out for 3 weeks, but when they did, they did a fantastic job. In fact, they got the job done 3 days early and made arrangements to do so with my tenant - unbeknownst to me. Before making a large purchase like this, always get quotes. The $585 less that Midway is a lot of money to save! read more

If I could give the Midway technician, Nate, 10 stars, I would. I had another, reputable, heating company out to fix my heater. After TWO HOURS of taking the entire thing apart and testing and jumping every possible connection, they told me I needed a blower ($1260) and a circuit board ($540). I told them the blower was working fine before they got there and I was sure I didn't need one. I called Midway for a second opinion. In less than 20 minutes Nate said, 'I found your problem. Part of your circuit board is fried.' I braced myself and said, 'How much?'. He said, 'The part is $230'. I asked if he had it on his truck and he said 'No, but there's a parts house close by. I'll get it and come back.' In an hour and a half from his arrival, which included him going to get the part, my home had heat! Total bill with the service call, $389. One year guarantee on the part, 30 days on the labor and I couldn't be more satisfied. Thank you Midway and Nate! THAT'S the way it SHOULD be done!!! read more

Great service with thorough knowledge and technical abilities. We've had functional problems with our Lennox Signature Series furnace for multiple years - even thinking about replacing it. Our previous service provider sent numerous technicians over multiple trips out to diagnose and address the problems on it to no avail. We tried Midway as an alternative service provider and are thrilled about that decision. Nate, from Midway, was able to address the problems on the furnace almost immediately. He found multiple issues (supposed repairs) from previous service trips also and got the furnace back to a good working order and to manufacturer-recommended configurations again. My AC stopped working during one of the hottest weekends we've had. Of course it's a Sunday and everyone in the city was having the same problem. This review is way overdue - at the end of 2016, Midway took out our ancient, ginormous, oil burning furnace (circa 1940), replaced it with a sleek new efficient gas furnace, and also installed central air for us. The guy from the city who came to inspect the work/sign off on the permit said he was impressed and he looks at this kind of work all the time. They did a great job, and came in on budget/estimate and in the time they said they would. Now, a year and half later, everything looks and works great. It wasn't cheap but you get what you pay for. I want to personally thank Brad at Midway for doing the impossible - moving up our A/C installation date by three weeks so that we could have air conditioning for our move-in date which also happened to be one of the hottest days of the summer in Portland! We were dreading unpacking in 100 F temps but we'd accepted our circumstances when Brad unexpectedly called and said he was going to make it happen within days of our order. When we arrived at the house on the day or our move-in, it was done. Honestly, it felt like a miracle. 24 degrees in Portland and my 1953 oil furnace stops pushing the hot air out. Suspecting the blower motor, I placed a call to these guys and they came out as soon as they were able during this peak time period. Rich listened to what I experienced, looked at the motor, and decided it did need to be replaced (last replacement 1983!). Ordered the part, and later that day it was installed. Turns out the new motor somehow stripped out the screw holding the motor in place and it didn't work so well that evening. I called them back, and Rich came out early in the morning before starting his other jobs and the furnace is as good as new. What impressed me is the professionalism of Rich and his listening abilities, the calm demeanor of the lady answering the phone and their ability to schedule me pretty quickly considering the crazy snow storm we had. I had previously had the furnace serviced by an oil company that I was on auto delivery with. Their office personnel were always rude, could never seem to schedule me as it was always a peak time (even though I'd been a customer for years), and the unprofessionalism of their repair guys was not appreciated. Midway was great on all aspects of what I needed. They came in, diagnosed the issue, and fixed it. Boom. Exactly what I wanted. Oh, and the best part was the price- super reasonable, and I was expecting to pay so much more. At this rate, there is no reason to buy a new furnace, as I will just call these guys out to keep my current furnace happy. read more

I can't review their actual service because they couldn't seem to take and keep an appointment. I scheduled an appointment twice and had someone waiting at home both times. When they no showed/no called, I called them and asked when their service person was coming out. After confusing my house and service request for someone else, I restated who I was. They doubled checked and I was not even on their calendar, for a second time. Needless to say, I wasn't going to give them a third chance to no show. If I ran my business the same way, I wouldn't have one. read more

This is a horrible company! I will not refer anyone to them. It took their technician four times to come out and fix my furnace because I had no heat. I paid the service fee and got reimbursed from my home warranty department. After that their technician had to come out three other times because I had no heat within their 30-day warranty. They then sent me the invoice to pay for a control board that should have been included in the initial billing and my home warranty would have taken care of it. I spoke to Teresa their receptionist who was very rude and talked over me as I was trying to explain to her why I had to pay them and not my home warranty company. Needless to say I will not be using them in the future or refer anyone to them very poor customer service. read more

Due to an unknown filter placement SNAFU, the A/C coils got so gunked up that the compressor got overloaded and blew out the start capacitor. Called MHC at 9:00am for an appt. Was told 1:00pm SAME DAY (Wow!). Rich and Ryan showed up right on time, assessed the trouble and promptly set to work making the needed repairs and performing the required maintenance. The price of the service call came in at the extreme low end of the expected cost. Professional service at an affordable price. awful terrible service!!! I should say no service. a few years ago they installed my new furnace. Now I am having trouble with the air ducts. I needed a couple of them replaced as they had holes in from rust. I called them as a repeat customer. They said the would be out the next day. The next day, no show & no call. So I called them & they said they did not want to do that type of work. I asked why they had not showed up or called to say they would not show up. They just said it was not the type of work they wanted to do. Hard to understand why they would not want to work on the air ducts. I then spoke to the owner who was not helpful & rude so I told him I would find someone else who wanted to give good customer service. read more
