Our first time here and everything was amazing on this rainy Sunday afternoon. We really enjoyed our meals, the atmosphere and watching the birds. The waitress was great and gave excellent service. Already planning a return visit. The fried chicken is about the best around!

We drove over an hour to have fried chicken and were not disappointed. They had so many other tempting dishes we also ordered the meat loaf. I had made a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but they weren't busy at 2pm. They added our name to the menu to welcome us! Nice touch. You get a corn fritter with your meal and they are pretty heavy. We had ordered some for an app that we ended up taking home. Service and food were excellent. It sits on it's own, nice drive from anywhere.

We were more than surprised with this place. Supper club in central IL with better than supper club choices. If you are in the area it's a must go! We did make a reservation for Friday night and good thing we did, they were packed. Everything was great supper club food. I would recommend the fried pickles and duck wonton appetizers. Although beware because the entree alone is a lot of food. You get soup or salad. The cruise salad is the way to go. Loved it with honey mustard dressing. On a Friday, go with the fish. Nice white fish. You will be served a vegetable of your choice along with bread and a fritter (almost like dessert- think mini donuts from the state fair). So much food. Loved the ambience. We fell in love with our waitress. She had all the right things to say for our group. Laughed a lot. We will be back. Also, the prices are right!

Food is awesome whatever you order. The butter milk pan fried chicken is their featured item. Yum! A top drink is brandy old fashioned. Service is great and if you want to watch the bar tenders, these girls are amazingly fast and efficient. Decor is wild life ambiance but in good taste. Definitely recommend this place.

Hubs went with shrimp scampi and I had the special Florida grouper with mushrooms and buerre blanc. We both opted for the roasted red potatoes side which was perfect for soaking up the leftover buerre blanc! Food was delicious and plentiful. Came with complimentary sourdough bread with butter or a cream cheese spread. Quite good! Key lime pie for dessert. Service was prompt and polite. We came early since we didn't have a reservation. Recommended for an upscale (a little pricey) seafood dinner!

The Oyster Bar, and…read moreMarket & Bake Shop next door, are interesting places as well, but this is the crown jewel. The service was second to none, from the hostess/manager Angie, to my delightful waitress Macy. The view of the Illinois River augmented a warm but comfortably rustic setting. I started with an Espresso Martini -- 360 Vanilla, Kahlua, Tia, Espresso & Cream with three delicious coffee beans on top. The cocktail was remarkably flavorful and I am a coffee martini enthusiast. For an appetizer I indulged myself and ordered a staple of any high-end seafood restaurant; Oysters Rockefeller baked in the half-shell. This traditional mainstay was absolutely perfectly cooked with the added twist of bacon. (Everything is better with bacon). The main attraction outdid it all: South African Lobster Tail with a half pound of Alaskan King Crab Legs. I'll let the pictures speak for this dish: I LOVED IT!!!!! For dessert I had another libation -- a Milk Chocolate Martini 360 Vanilla, Dark Crème De Cacao, and Cream.

First of all you feel how cozy the room is as soon as you walk in (yes there are some dead animals hanging around the place). Then your immediately hit with the desert case, and those deserts look decadent. Ie: Bailey Carmel cheesecake, French silk pie cheesecake, Salted Carmel bread pudding, just to name a few. Bread and salad were served with my entree and my server mixed my salad table side. Good green mixture with cherry tomatoes and onions all dressed with a sweet vinaigrette. The dressing was delish however I could have used a bit less of it. Blackened chicken pasta was a little different that I expected and beware it is a bit rich and very filling. The chicken was cut into small pieces and mixed with the cavatappi and cream sauce and then covered in a golden brown cheese mixture. The cheese, the chicken, the pasta were all delicious. The staff at this restaurant truly elevates it to another level. From the super friendly hostess to my outstanding server Shelby, along with the other staff that I encountered during my visit. All make you feel welcome.

With all of the adjustments to everyday life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, discovering that I…read morecan get sustainably-caught, small-boat harvested, wild Alaskan seafood shipped to my doorstep via this audacious little company in Galesburg, IL is probably the most positive one. Prior to last spring, you would not have been able to convince me that it made sense to spend $120-$130 a month to have 4.5 pounds of seafood shipped to me, but when our standard supply chain broke down and it was nearly impossible to get proteins at the grocery store I started to look for other options. I love seafood, so that is what I looked for first, trying a couple of "fresh from ... (name your place)" options. I dipped my toe into the Sitka Salmon Shares world by buying a "bounty sale" box of sablefish, also known as black cod. I did a side-by-side comparison of the SSS sablefish and another Alaskan seafood company that ships throughout the US and the difference in quality was astounding. I signed up for SSS's premium seafood subscription shortly thereafter. SSS is a different kind of company - a "Community Supported Fishery" akin to the CSA's you might be familiar with from your local farmer's market. While they project the contents of each monthly box ahead of time, the mix of what you receive depends upon the harvest. No matter what type of seafood you receive, you can expect impeccable quality, as the CSF model allows the small boat fishermen-owners and trusted partners to handle their catch in an artisanal way -- eg, line caught, immediately bled and put on ice, processed and deep frozen for shipment. All fish is sushi-grade, and in most cases you get traceability back to the boat that caught it and the date of harvest. Does all of that matter? I maintain that it does ... for example I have never received a piece of fish from SSS that was bruised from rough handling, and that does indeed make a difference in taste and texture. If you are a fan of seafood check out their "Freezer Sale" -- right now I believe they have a salmon sampler and albacore tuna available. I bet that if you do give a freezer sale box a try, you will soon find yourself poring over their subscriptions trying to decide which one to pick. If it's not the best fish you've ever had? They have fabulous customer service, contact them and surely they will do right by you. As for me? I expect I will be a subscriber for life.
