Our new door was not cheap but well worth the price. If you want a cheap front door, go to Home Depot. Amighini is about quality. Highly recommend!

Reposting what I just posted on Google Reviews:…read more I don't typically write reviews, but our experience has been SO poor, I would like to warn others. In May '21, we were quoted a little over $11K to replace our door, and paid a 50% deposit. 3+ months later we received drawings and approved them. Several more months go by; no update, despite reaching out several times. When we did get through, an impolite administrator shouted at my wife over the phone that we weren't the only customers that were experiencing delays. He then apologized and said he yelled because he was Dominican (!?). In January, we're given our first real update: an email with a few pictures of our door in a workshop. Fast forward 4 months. After reaching out for more updates, we finally get through to their manager who says, "I'm in Argentina now, organizing the custom orders for the shipment load. We have everything ready waiting for the shipment company to give us the date... before [the] pandemic there was 4 shipment[s] by month, now [there] is only one and when the shipping company want... so we are waiting." July '22, we get an email telling us the door is in NJ and someone will now "take measurements and do the 'pre-installation' before the finish." They come to our house to take measurements on two different occasions. We select and pay for hardware (not included) and reach out for an update, to which they say: "Below I have attached your INVOICE, reflecting a PAID balance (keep this for your records.) The next steps in your project are: 1. I need your availability for this week and next week. I have to send staff members to the project location to fit the door and see what adjustments have to be made. 2. Once we have completed this step, we will proceed to confirm a delivery date. Once I receive your availability, we will be able to move forward." The invoice says we have a balance of over $12K...but we've already paid $5500, so this new invoice suggests that the cost is $17K+. Upon comparison of the two invoices and reaching out to understand the discrepancy, we're told that it reflects: 1. installation (which was not in our quote as it is 'available upon request', yet without our approval is supposedly underway since the tech came by to do a 'pre-installation') 2. marked up prices for things that were on the original invoice paid back in May '21, because of "2022 prices" - which given it was committed to and built in '21, we find suspect. In their fine print it says installation is upon request, which we understand. However, 'pre-installation' was presented as a necessary step, and no price was mentioned. When we learned the install would be $4K+, we said we would pick up the door and have it installed by someone else (for a small fraction of the price). They said they would still charge us $2K for "pre-installation" which we were never told about or given the chance to approve. After a LOT of back and forth, they finally agreed that they did not explain the 'pre-installation' fee. They offered a discounted price to complete the install, which we agreed to because they said our warranty would be voided if we used another provider. Upon install in December, the door had chipped paint which they said they would come back and fix. The next day, it rained. Water that would normally slide right off a door without a trace left strange white splotches all over the door and could not easily come off. It looked like the door was not properly sealed. When we reached out, their response was to say to clean the door with Pledge (an indoor dusting product). We were very confused by this, and replied to ask if they could fix how the door was sealed, as we can't imagine cleaning our custom door with Pledge every time it rains. Moral of the story: Avoid Amighini at all costs! We are incredibly disappointed with our door, the customer experience overall, and with the 1.5 year process we have had to endure.

Terrific experience from start to finish…read more I had a terrific experience with NYC Glass & Window Repair. Daria was a wonderful initial point person and stayed in touch throughout the process by phone and text. Vova came out for the initial assessment and measurements, and he was patient, kind, and really listened to what I needed. The initial estimate was more than I could afford, and I thought I'd have to contact several other companies for bids. Oliver worked with me to bring the price closer to my budget, and I was able to skip that exercise. I also decided to handle the glazing and weatherstripping myself. Michael and Ivan came to do the work, and they were thorough, quick, and resourceful. These are very old windows, and they encountered some obstacles along the way, but they figured things out and did an excellent job. They also cleaned up beautifully and left the area cleaner than when they arrived. Everyone I dealt with was kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. The workmen's primary language is Ukrainian, so their English was sometimes limited, but this was easily handled because there was always someone in the office available to communicate with both of us in either Ukrainian or English. I've had plenty of experience with workmen whose first language isn't English, so this wasn't an issue for me. I also really appreciated the way the company combines technology with personal communication. Everything is handled efficiently, but you never feel like you're being left to deal with technology on your own. There was always a real person keeping in touch. The entire team is Ukrainian, which was particularly meaningful to me as an East Village resident and a Veselka old timer. I was very happy to support them. This is the way business should be done. Five stars without hesitation!

His attention to detail stood out from the start, he inspected each window carefully before touching anything, checking the hinges, arms, and tracks to understand exactly what was causing the problem. Diagnosing the issue took some time since the problems weren't straightforward, but rather than rushing or guessing, he worked through it methodically until he had a clear picture of what needed fixing. Once he had that, he fixed both windows correctly and made sure they opened and closed smoothly before moving on. I also pointed out three other windows with issues, and Rob fixed all of them while he was there, which made the visit even more worthwhile. He walked us through some helpful information about insulation around the window frames and pointed out a couple of other minor issues worth keeping an eye on down the road. He answered all my questions, even the pretty basic ones, and never once made me feel dumb for asking. The price he charged for all the work was totally reasonable. Rob was professional and friendly the entire time, easy to talk to, and clearly someone who takes pride in doing the job right rather than just getting through it. If we decide to redo our windows in the future, Rob is who we'll call without hesitation. I definitely recommend him, especially since he's an independent local contractor rather than a big impersonal company. Highly recommend him for anyone on Staten Island dealing with windows.

We had a budget, and he helped us keep to it, but he really went above and beyond that. Other vendors told us there was no way to keep the 130 year window moldings, but Turab not only helped us keep them, but had so many neat tricks to improve our restoration project. Other vendors just gave us offers against our project scope, but Turab explained to us the dynamics of different windows in different parts of the house and what types worked best and saved us money. He made custom moldings for our cellar windows. He also helped us out to stop a fly tipping incident one day when we were out and not able to deal with it ourselves. And when it was pouring with rain and our basement flooded, he went outside and took a really long and hard look and told us what the problem was. We got it fixed the same weekend and never had issues since.
