Midstate Camera Repair - Service Above and Beyond Expectations. I am an intermediate photographer, live in Mississippi, and, absent my recent experience discussed below, have absolutely no connection with Midstate Camera or its owners. After following the Canon Factory Service Center's online instructions, filling in the request form and receiving a quote, I sent my Canon EF 28-70 2.8L USM Lens to Canon for repair. Two days after receiving my lens, Canon sent me the following email "We are returning your EF 28-70 2.8L USM to you un-repaired. We regret that we could not be of further assistance. Your equipment has been shipped back to you on...." Canon returned my lens, but with no explanation, no advice, no suggestions, no nothing from Canon. I email Canon and called customer service, but still could not get any information from Canon about the lens. A complete waste of time and effort. Searching the web, I located a few reviews on Midstate Camera - all good. I contacted Midstate Camera who promptly informed me that the Canon had discontinued this particular lens, but they would take a look at it and repair it if they could. After a week, Mark from Midstate replied informing me of the problem(s) and what parts he needed to repair the lens. The part needed was not readily available (and in fact, difficult to find). But rather than sending me a Canon "we regret... returning it unrepaired letter" Mark had great patience, agreed to keep the lens and work with me to locate the needed part. We together we were able to locate and order the part needed and one week later, I received my lens - clean and in perfect working order. And the price? Very reasonable - it was less than Canon Factory Service (who didn't give a dang about me or repairing my discontinued lens). read more
