When I showed up he claims I didn't have one because he didn't check his email. He then says he just gave away the last appointment slot for the day and I would have to do a different day. I am new to the area and delighted to find a trustworthy auto repair service in the area. Jorge and his staff provided excellent service for a routine oil change and replacement of the headlight even showing me how to access the light to replace the other lamp. He informed me to get quality parts to ensure that my car repairs were done right the first time. He took the time to explain the thorough inspection for safety to ensure that my car would be up to date on any repairs needed. He gave me a correct estimate of the wait time on Saturday. All staff were pleasant despite it being really busy. The tech found a nail in my rear tire and patched it. Jorge referred us to a smog check place too. If you want a no hassle experience when taking your car to be repaired, look no further! Plus, the prices are fair and reasonable. I also liked getting a summary on car fax that he took the time to review my car's prior repairs. Definitely, no "mickey mouse" job here. Btw, he didn't charge anything extra for the tire. My first review of Midas was maybe a bit distressed. Since then the owner Mr. Johnston reached out and contacted me. That move in it self is a wonder these days. He did offer me a free service( not accepted) which was a nice gesture. He had a talk with the crew and got the phone dialing thing down. Some strait communication is a good thing. Do not like that Jeff the stores managers treatment of my situation. I explained a problem and Jeff was very dismissive and rude during the phone call. When I arrived the next morning he asked my name and for my keys and walked away to the car. No conversation no hello I remember our conversation or even I'm going to take a look at your car. No he just walked away. Came back told me that the car needed belt tensioner assembly for my Honda and that the part would be $265.00 and for parts and labor total cost would be $395.00. I took my car to another reputable garage and paid $246.00. Not sure if that's a good price but I am happy with the service and the work on my car. read more

He spent a good 10 minutes explaining to her that her vehicle did not need all these repairs. All her vehicle needed was an oil change. It was refreshing to find an honest service station. I've came here a few times now and the service has always been great! Ivan was good at explaining to me what I needed to get done. He suggested I get new brakes and new tires, but because I have a budget right now, I only had enough for the brakes. He was great at explaining things, but it looked like he had to rush because there were other cars that the guy in charge was asking him to bring in when there were other mechanics available. I'll definitely come back and hopefully get Ivan again. By the way, Ivan was very pleasant and courteous during the shuttle ride and explained what was done and his suggestions for my next visit - thought that was very helpful! read more

I've been having problems with my brakes for two years. intermittently I would I would have no breaks at all which was a dangerous situation. I had taken it to Ford dealer in Salinas and one other shop. No one could figure that out the problem. Ford just wanted to work on other things and rack up a bill. End up being a power steering booster. Jeff diagnosed the issue . Ordered the parts and fix my vehicle completed within five hours. Very impressed thank you so much. They were also giving people rides home. Although the job was pricey ..my brakes work great I'm super happy and I don't have to be concerned every time I drive as I also pull a trailer down the road occasionally. Thank you Jeff!!!!! Every time people ask me where do I take my car when I have a mechanical problem I always come here. The team that works here is absolutely amazing! They always let me know what my car warranties are and what the problems are. And they always provide first rate prices. Yesterday I brought my husbands car to the shop to be looked at since it was having trouble accelerating past 35 miles an hour. We were able to get the car in and out by 2 PM and know what was wrong with it and whether or not it would be covered by the warranty is that he had on the vehicle. We were very pleased with the service and professionalism that was provided to us by George and his team! My wife and I took our 3 month old son on his first trip over Memorial Day weekend. Half way to East Bay, we stopped over in Salinas to feed the baby and grab a cup of coffee, and wouldn't you know it, the god damn car, on which I had just spent a grand for maintenance, wouldn't fucking start. I think it's the battery (I'm a moron), so I call AAA for a battery technician, who shows up quickly and tells me it's not the battery, it's the starter. So, here I am behind the Hampton Inn, my wife, 3 month old son, and hyper dog in the loaded up car, at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon before Memorial Day. I start to panic because I'm thinking no one in town is going to want to do this just hours before closing for the long weekend, but I start making calls. First place I called was Midas and Jorge answers. I frantically tell him of my emergency which has become more urgent by the fact that my wife had returned and told me there were no hotel rooms available anywhere because of the Cali Roots Festival in Monterey. Our outlook bleak but Jorge looks up my specs, orders the part for me, gives me a quote and assures me if I have the car there soon, he'll take care of it. I'm still a bit panicked as I load my wife, new son and half our baby shit into the lobby of The Hampton Inn, as one kind gentelman named Nathan has agreed to let her hang out in the lobby while my dog and I hop in the tow truck and fuck off to Midas. We get to Midas and Jorge has the starter on the counter and reassures me that he'll be changing shirts and working on it himself. He took the time to show me the newly installed starter, and even took care of a sticky throttle that had been giving me problems. He had me back on the road by 4:30 and I will forever be indebted to Jorge and Midas for getting me out of a jam that I potentially would never have heard the end of. I am the hero of the story in my wife's eyes, but Jorge, he's the real hero..he even gave me a mango. What a guy! You're the man, Jorge! read more

I recently went for an oil change, first time to them in my 2015 Kia Soul. The experience was just average and I left with some concerns and unanswered questions. The following day the main office called to thank me for bringing in my car and l/m for me to call if I had any feedback. I called back and spoke directly with the owner, who not only addressed my concerns but also talked directly to his staff. He also is sending me a voucher for my next oil change on them. The person at the front desk, Jorge, seemed nice enough but ultimately gave contradicting excuses as to why my oil change but be delayed much further than my original appointment. At first I was told that walk-ins pushed my vehicles time back (there was only one person there). When I asked why he couldn't simply give me a slightly later appointment on the phone when we had spoken less than an hour prior, I was then told that they were backed up from the previous day. I've been coming to the Midas at 227 John St., Salinas, for a few years now. I've had my radiator changed & brake work. The work was always done on time & the customer service from Jorge Zamora has been excellent. Prior to any work, the manager goes over the pricing in detail. He explains the mechanical work to be performed in terms that I can understand. I've had bad experiences with shady or incompetent mechanics before & I was hesitant to trust someone with my car, but Jorge has restored my trust. The first couple of times I asked to see the parts that were allegedly replaced & I was pleasantly surprised to see the mechanic pull my old parts out of the garbage pile & allowed me identify my used/defective part & verify that I'm not being ripped off. Their work is always guaranteed & if you have any major work done, you will receive a call from the owner to ensure that you have been satisfied with the work done. However, the five star rating that I'm giving this shop is not only for the work that I've had done, but also for the work that hasn't been done. For example, my vehicle recently started acting differently when I turned on the air conditioner - my car would hesitate at idle, the engine sounded differently & I could feel a slight vibration. Thinking that I might have a belt that is wearing out or a failing air conditioning system, I brought my car in for an inspection. It was about 8:30 in the morning & it was busy. I explained the problem & waited a few minutes for Jorge to personally inspect my vehicle. I sat in the passenger seat while he turned on the air conditioner & went through all the gears. He determined that there was nothing wrong with my car. He explained what happens to the engine when it is put under a load by the AC system. He told me that the sounds my vehicle makes are completely normal & as my engine is getting older, it will not sound the same as it did when it was new (my car is 9 years old). Jorge advised me not to drop off my car to have work done because it would be a waste of money. He ensured me that my AC was working properly & did not charge me an inspection fee for his diagnosis.
