The things they actually fixed were great, BUT... They told me that a part was completely rotted out and needed to be replaced. Said it would last maybe a year. I did like that they took me into the shop and showed me the part that was rotted. The manager, Jeffery was super nice and seemed to genuinely care about my car issue. The problem that was so bad was the fact that Jeffery told me that the part that was needed was discontinued, but they could import it from the South for $5k. I did not get the name of the part, but I went online and looked up pictures of under my car's make and model. I found out it was a knuckle. I called Nissan to get a second opinion. They have the part! It's not even close to $5k. And the even bigger part of all is that when Nissan looked under my car, both sides needed to be replaced in the back and the original price was already broken. I will not being returning to Midas. Thank you for being nice and caring, but you guys tried to get more money out of me than needed. read more

My husband stopped after work to get an inspection sticker on a 2016 Ford with only 30,000 miles on it. The tech failed the car due to what he said was rusty and unsafe rear rotors - and then handed an estimate for over $400.00 to replace the rotor and pads. He declined - to which the tech warned him the car was extremely unsafe to drive. My husband still declined, went to an auto parts store and bought pads and rotors himself for much less. When he took off the "failed" rotors and pads there was only surface rust and the pads still have at least 30,000 more miles on them. The car was stopping without a problem. Its a great scam they have going at this location. Fail cars, do the repairs, and make tons of money. I will never go back, and I recommend everyone stays away. Con Artists. read more

After having my car at another shop around the corner for 5 days and it not being touched just empty promises about we will get to it tomorrow it's a big job ~ they had quoted me 950.00 I finally had enough and dropped it off at Midas this afternoon.My car was fixed in under 2 hours for under 200.00! The 2 gentleman I dealt with were kind and very helpful! I was a customer with 3 vehicles for 17 years at the last place and will never go back. Midas in Salem will be my new mechanic! read more

Went in there because I needed an inspection. Bearded guy behind the told me he wouldn't do it because my was "way way to high ". Ok when I asked him what the law was he couldn't tell me. He then proceeded to tell me to take it back to whoever did it last year . He is very rude and disrespectful to customers. Doesn't know what he is talking about. NH law is 30 inches bumper height and my truck is only 25. Didn't ask the moron for his opinion wanted a legal inspection. read more

If I could give no star I would. Came in needing help taking off a flat tire and putting on the spare. I can do this my self but when I tried with the crap equipment provided by my vehicle, a piece of the special lock lug nut broke off. So I needed a special tool for this, which only tire auto shops have. They took over an hour to look at my car to then tell me they couldn't get it off. He claimed he needed to torch it off and it was going to cost me $100. Mind you I have a faithful auto repair shop I go to, but was to far for my tow company. Who also just replaced my tires and brakes the week before, so I knew the lug nut was not over tightened or stripped. Either way $100 to burn off a lug nut is extremely overpriced. Would not recommend or go there again. $80 of labor to change a tire is ridiculous. read more

Absolute thieves! Was quoted a price of almost 600 to replace a window switch on a 2007 Lexus is 250. While waiting to check out I found a brand new switch on Ebay for 32.88 delivered. Was was quoted over 300 to replace rear pads and rotors on the same vehicle. I found front and rear pads and rotors (slotted with ceramic pads) also on Ebay for 140 delivered. I understand a mark up but that was ridiculous. After driving 20 feet down the road I discovered that they left my hood open! I called to complain and was told "how do I know that you didn't do it yourself"! Mind you there was no damage I just was concerned of the safety issue. Lastly, I posted a review on their website (1 star, the lowest possible ) and it was gone a few hours later. I work in the automotive industry and I'm telling EVERYONE I know. Highly recommend them to everyone I dislike! read more

If you have the money to visit a dealer and buy a new car every 2 or 3 years, it doesn't really matter, but if an older car is all you can afford, you need to find a Real Car Guy who actually loves cars. Doctors go to medical school, but not all of them are really deeply involved in curing people. If yo can, you want a doctor who really likes making people well. Medical practice is full of frustrating things like filling out insurance papers to get paid. A doctor who gets joy from curing people can handle it. Cars can be as frustrating as medical claims. When your car isn't happy, you need someone who not only has the training, but how loves cars and loves fixing them. Dave's people all love cars - just look at what they drive! There is a down side - A true car person gives off an aura that makes the car feel better just as you feel better when you visit a certain doctor's office. That means if you bring it in with something wrong, just being near the car person may make the car act nice. Don't be embarrassed, just be glad your car is happier and bring it in again. I'm just glad Dave's people can keep it running longer. Every extra year is a year I'm not paying the bank.... Go, Dave, go! read more

Went here 5 weeks ago in July for an oil chg and tire rotation, as well as their courtesy check in order to get a heads up to prepare for Sept. state inspection. I was told everything was good and passed. Went in 9/1/22 for an inspection and they failed the rear brakes. Their explanation? A shrug and a well they were good then, but not now. How convenient for them. Why doesn't NH protect consumers from inspection stations like this? Even when confronted with their own paperwork from July, they don't care. So how can brakes go from pass to fail in 5 weeks? At the least, they should've told me in July that they had little wear remaining, or that they were on the verge of failing, but then they'd miss out on having your back against the wall. read more

If you have an older car and need to get an inspection, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. They will try to make you replace things you do not need to replace. They failed my inspection because they said i have a leak in my power steering pump and it will cost me $ 800.- to replace. I took my car to another mechanic and guess what, there is no leak. There are some liquid around the pump which are some residual from other things. NOT A LEAK! This is actually the second time they tried to scam me. The first one was about 5 years ago for the exact same thing. It's my fault i guess for giving them a second chance. NO MORE! read more

I am very pleased with Midas. When my daughter took her car in for an oil change, they noticed something wrong with her front bearing. They found the warranty and did not charge for the part! They not only when above and beyond in finding the problem, but they also took care of the warranty. We especially have great faith in the mechanic David. He is both friendly and efficient. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! SCAMMIMG SCUMBAGS!!! Went for new tires and was told I needed both front AND rear brakes and rotors and would run $900 not including the tires. Told them to stop and just do tires. They tried arguing with me about the safety issue blah blah blah and they could only lock in this "special price" for a limited time..... Decided to call around and ended up taking my car to Meineke in Seabrook (which will be me next review with FIVE stars) I made the appointment telling them I needed front and back with rotors and was quoted $550. After looking at my brakes they notified me MY REAR BREAKS WERE FINE!!!!!! Total cost at Meineke only $275!!!! I will NEVER GO BACK TO MIDAS AGAIN!!! I went into Midas for the first time yesterday as I generally take my car to the dealership. The dealership had an hour wait and I was in a bit of a rush. I took a chance and pulled into Midas. I was immediately greeted and my car was pulled right in. The prices here are much cheaper than the dealership, and they are extremely honest as well. I was told I needed new break pads soon and the quote I got seemed extremely fair. When I left here I called two other places including my dealership, Midas was the best quote of all 3. Not only do they have wonderful customer service and great pricing they weren't like other places who try to make you do something right then and there like a pushy car salesman! I am more than satisfied with Midas and I do plan on taking my vehicle repairs here over the dealership from now on. Thank you Midas for being so wonderful! 10 stars! A+ read more

Terrible service. Made Appt for gasket repair was told to come in at 1030am, and after 2 hrs I was told "we are waiting on the part to be delivered from another Midas". What? So you make an Appt for a repair that they knew in advance they did not have the part for and then debate with me over how it. Pathetic. Wasted half my day sitting and waiting for a part to be delivered. Save your time and $ and go somewhere else as this place is a Mickey Mouse operation with a know-it-all clown at its helm. read more

I had a good experience with the staff at Midas this morning. I brought my car in for an inspection after having issues with another shop. They took my car in immediately and gave it a good look-through. They found a safety problem that the previous shop failed to list. They also found things the other shop claimed had to be fixed that were not issues for an inspection. Given that the car would fail, they sent me on my way - WITHOUT charging me for the work they did. I will be giving Midas business in the future. read more

This is the only place I trust my car too. The owner, Dave, is very friendly and welcoming. He knows his regular customers and is easy to talk with. Would not recommend this shop for auto repair. Went in for vehicle inspection and they found a few minor issues. Not a big deal. The shop provided a written estimate for the repairs. I came back a short time later to get the work done. Not only did they fail to honor the written price quote provided a few days earlier, but they charged me to do some of the work twice! When I spoke to the owner about this, he offered to give me a paltry credit for charging me twice for a portion of the job. Tried to keep convincing me that what he was offering was in my best interest and all he could do. For me, it really wasn't about the money, but more about the ethics of the business. Midas promotes the concept of trust. This shop wholly missed on that account. I would not trust this business to touch another one of my vehicles. read more

Terrible customer service!!! I made an appointment to get my oil changed and tires rotated at Smitty's Midas in Salem NH. I had a Groupon for this service. I left work early to get to the appointment. When I arrived I presented my Groupon and was told by the receptionist that they could not take me because they had already accepted 3 Groupons that day and Groupon would not let them accept more than that per day. When I pressed this, since I was sure that Groupon had no such rule she assured me that it was true and that Groupon had to reimburse the shop for the full value of the service and they would only reimburse 3 per day. At this point I was extremely frustrated since I had left work early to make it to the appointment, and since I knew that what she was telling me was a complete fabrication because that is not how the Groupon coupons work. In addition there was only one other customer in the shop and I had an appointment, so I knew they had room to take my car. I asked to speak to the manager and he said they can only take three groupons a day and even with him I had to press to find out it was a policy he had put in place because he felt he was losing money on the deal. He flatly refused to honor the coupon. Even though it is valid and I had an appointment and they had several free bays in the garage to do the work. This is not at all fitting with the Midas service pledge "We will always do right by you and your car". I will be sure to tell all my friends about this experience and not to do business with Midas. read more

They have very friendly staff but lack the basic understanding in car service. One of my front tires had a nail in it. They ordered the tires as recommended by the car company. I agreed to order two of them so as to ensure both the ones in front were new and would have equal wear and tear. They did a very substandard job with replacement. They car was shaking violently on freeway after they replaced the tires. We had to take it back and their excuse was that they did not do balancing as they did not see it as necessary. They did a very poor job and we had to make an extra trip just to get the the balancing done which is something I would consider as basic 101 for tire replacement. read more

Hate the "new management" been going here for years and am disappointed with the service. Brought my vehicle in for a state inspection, which failed due to needing new brakes. I have a very handing husband who is capable of this task. So instead of paying 374.00 he repaired them for 85.00. When I called to make an appointment to re-inspect my car the woman informed me that I would have to pay the $35 again because I didn't allow them to do the work. Called around to some local shops and ask them what their policies were and they all told me you have 10 days to fix your vehicle and get it reinspected free of charge. I can happily say that I'm done with this midas and to the gentleman above you got nowhere with the manager/owner because that was his wife you were arguing with. read more

I've been very satisfied with the honesty and service here. I've referred friends and family and they share my sentiments. The owner, Dave, is helpful, friendly and takes good care of me every time I come in. I would say their pricing is average, not the cheapest or the most expensive, however the work they do is solid. Took my car for inspection and it failed cause they said I need new rear brakes and new front tires. They wrote that on the inspection form needs new brakes and new front tires only. Ok fine. I fixed the brakes and bought new front tires, Went back for re inspection now they said the rear left tinted window is too dark, and failed again. Idiots..they should of told me that the rear left tinted window needs to be removed when I first went for inspection. Poor service read more

I brought my 2009 Honda Civic to this Midas for a loud clunking noise it made when shifting into reverse. I had taken my car to two other mechanics for this issue, neither one could replicate/identify/fix the problem. Within 10 minutes of being on the lift the mechanic identified the issue. He brought me out to my car on the lift to show me the problem, which was a worn engine mount. Gave me a quote to replace the mount (reasonable price); I authorized the work and went home to wait. An hour later he called me with an update, that he replaced the worn mount, took the car for a test drive, and now the other mount was moving/making noise. I gave him permission to replace that one also. I'm very happy with their service and confident about their expertise and business ethics. Highly recommend this shop to anyone needing reliable, trust-worthy automotive care. Dave DiGiovanni, the owner is very nice to deal with too! read more

Very happy with the service there today. I had been thinking that it was time for a brake change as it had been anticipated for some time. (My mechanic had indicated in the past that they would need doing after driving x number of thousand more miles.) To find out whether the rotors could be turned down or needed to be replaced, etc. I made an appointment (this morning) to have them look at all the brakes. My car was taken out for a test drive and the tires removed. The bottom line is that all is well and I might still be able to get another 20k miles before they are to be replaced. They also looked the car over a bit and noted my issue with one wiper, and that was actually ordered online and is coming in within a few days as I was aware of this problem a few days ago. I had a coupon for changing my oil/filter so had that done at the same time. Nice to know that I was told that the brakes were actually good for some time vs. hearing that this was wrong, and that was wrong, and they would do this or that....They will get my business when it comes time, but can now put money towards the list of other things that also have to get done! read more
