Same as what im reading here about salem nh pep boys. 4 new tires and alignment almost 4 hours with appointment. Tires were way out of balance. Called and talked to manager who isn't there anymore he told me balancer is out of sorts and recommended me to goto dracut pep boys. Trip to dracut pep boys they rebalanced my tires. On my way back to work 2 of my centercaps fell off. And tires were still out of balance.. called dracut and told them about centercaps. The guy asked me to retrace my steps to find them Called corporate, and they made it seem like it was going to be brought to the corporate management. I was wrong. The manager from dracut called me 2 days later after i purchaded new centercaps. Told me to bring recipts for reimbursement. Back to dracutfor reimbursement. I called salem and finally got a great manager named Remmy. This guy is a genuine person and was extremely helpful. He asked me to bring the truck in so he could look at the tires. The next day, i go back to salem and see Remmy. I leave the truck there for the day, and they discover i have a bad tire. Salem didn't have any in stock, but manchester did. Remmy asked me if i would go to manchester, and i agreed . The next day, i head to Manchester. im there at 730 am. Store opens at 8 am. i walk in at 8am and talk to the guy at the desk, and he says he can't do the (1) tire for me. So i call salem Remmy and ask if i purchase the tire in manchester, can they put it on and reimburse me for the tire. Remmy told me yes. So i purchased the tire and go to salem. At salem and they put new tire on. It made the vibration less but still had vibrations. When i was driving i heard things hitting my wheel wells. Almost like pebbles. Im pretty sure it was the tire weights. I call Remmy. Remmy was awesome. We talked and he agreed to swap out the tires for different brand. So he orders the tires and about a week later i had an appointment to install new tires. I get to my appointment and they install my new tires. Different manager was there. After i left, it felt like my wheels were loose. When i got home i checked the lugs and everything was tight. But i did notice that all my rims are dented all the way around the rim. I called salem and talked to that manager and told him about wobble feel and that my rims are damaged. I hear the manager yell out "did the tech deliberately beat the customer rims with the truck ?" I tild him i dont think its deliberate. So the manager told me he was calling a specialist to look at my balance issue, and i would hear back. That was on a monday. 8 days later, i called to get status on specialist, and im told they were calling him today, and they would call me right back. No call back 24 hours later, i called corperate and put in a complaint. Im going on 2 months driving my truck with bad tires. It's gotta be doing damage to my truck. Corperate tells me he is reaching out to the regional manager and escilating my situation. 2 days later i still havent heard from pepboys. So i call corperate AGAIN. And the guy tells me the regional manager is doing an investigation and i should hear from him within 48 hours..4pm tonite markes the 24 hour mark. No call. I drove over a screw in April. It was a Sunday and I needed a patch so I took it to Pep Boys. Through the process of putting my car up to remove the tire, everything was fine and the service folks were polite. A short time later, the gentleman who had checked me in came over to tell me that "unfortunately" I need 4 new tires. My car is a 2022 with a shade over 20,000 miles on it. When I disagreed with his assessment, he then tried to tell me "Your car will not pass inspection next month with those tires, they must be replaced." (My inspection sticker was up in May) I told them to patch the tire and bring the car down. Fast-forward to May, I took the car in for inspection and it passed with flying colors. This is a dishonest business. Had my mother elderly mother been advised this, she'd have panicked and bought 4 new tires because a so-called "expert" advised her to. Had they tried to tell me the screw ruined the tire, they may have gotten two new tires from me. It's their loss because I have since put new tires on my wife's car and I did not even consider Pep Boys because of this experience. The car is pulling to the left side and the steering wheel is off center when driving straight. It is obvious that alignment is needed. The tires were bought for $1,900 and installed on May 12, 2023 along with the 3 months / 3,000 miles free alignment. The Pep Boys person at the front desk refused to honour the warranty and demanded that we pay for the alignment. We explained that 1- the car is pulling to the left, and 2- the car hasn't been driven for 500 miles yet. We tried to reason with your employee, to no avail. He was vividly sarcastic in his response. We will pay for the alignment, since we have no other option, however we will never give any of our family business to Pep Boys. It is hard to imagine that an employee would be willing to lose repeat clients only so he can be stubborn and sarcastic in front of other customers. Came here for one tire but was encouraged to change all four for an AWD vehicle. I asked them to put the old tires with tread left in the trunk and they failed to do so. After a month the passengers side hit a curb and blew out and needed to be replaced. They insisted that I again replace the three other tires that had just been replaced and after continuously telling them I didn't need three new tires, they replaced one. They changed the tire and offered to change my oil as well for free. Of course I'll take a free oil change. WHOOPS. No more than two weeks later the engine light comes on. Pop the hood and discover oil al over the side of the engine. Oil cap is nowhere to be seen. Either the engine cap wasn't reinstalled or it was not tightened. Had the spare put on, and drove it down to Pep Boys in Salem NH, since I was in town, the next day, since my garage was not open on Sunday.The service guy was able to check my tire out( water and soap test)and said he didn't see anything wrong with the tire. When I walked in at 5:50pm, there were at least three people standing around, so you mean to tell me that they couldn't give me a call or a text in the last 36 hours to cancel.... the appointment was made online, so it should be pretty easy to contact me via email as well. Avoid SALEM, NH. Pep Boys I made and appointment for 11 a.m. to have my brakes fixed on a Sunday. Instead of staying I decided to leave my keys there and have a friend pick me up and drop me off at home. I asked when I could expect to have my car done and they told me that 4 PM no problem. In the meantime, no one bothered to communicate this with me and buy this point it's 430 I've been Rudely spoken to by the woman answering the phone and when I told her I wanted to talk to a manager she then told me that the manager without getting the correct for my vehicle. At this point the car tax finally called me and told me that they can't find anything in my car is not going to be tomorrow. I told him that I had a job to attend to tomorrow and then I would have to call because they didn't like that I was asserting myself and holding them to when they told me, my car is gonna be done at 4 o'clock they told me they work on my vehicle anymore and they were going to put the old pads in which by the way were metal on metal so they were going to send me back home with an unsafe vehicle because they didn't like that I asked why they didn't communicate with me earlier and why I had to call not once, but twice to find out what was going on with car. I took my car there for alignment and tire balance.. I have a 3 year alignment with them.. Upon checking in I told them that I just got struts, bearings and brake done and my mechanic suggested getting an alignment after all that work and I also told them that the car slightly pull left when I let go of the wheel.. after 45 minutes waiting the dude that was at the desk came up to me and said that the left front axel is bad and there's oil everywhere in the fender, the caliper and the new pads and rotors that my mechanic install the day before.. he said that's why the car pull left.. he said we have the part in stock we can't do the alignment unless we install a new axel. He also said the tires are all chopped up I need new tires.. 1 My mechanic just worked on the car the day prior he would've notice it, 2 I have recently put new tires in they are not chopped up, 3 If that axel was dripping/shooting oil everywhere some of that oil would've landed inside the rim.. how come that oil was only on the caliper and rotors? That oil that was on the caliper wasn't there when I brought the car in.. I suspected that the shadiness and told him that I would have my mechanic look at it. I took the car back to my mechanic and noticed a fresh cut/stab to the axel.. I called them back to let them I know of what they did to my vehicle and that same dude said WE DIDN'T CUT YOUR SHIT! then hang up. Those PepBoys in Salem NH are very dishonest. I have a strong feeling that shadiness been going there for a long. They F up parts in people vehicles, trick them to do unwanted repairs.. wouldn't advise anyone to go to that place. read more

My car failed inspection because of my windshield wiper that left streaks, even though I've never seen any streaking when I use them-- they also tried to sell me two new rotors because mine were rusty. When I finally got my car back and looked for myself there was minimal rust on the outer edge, none on the face of the rotor where the brake pads touch. I would have let that go and just gone to another shop that wouldn't try to upsell me, except I had to sit and wait 4 hours to get my vehicle looked at and inspected. 4 hours I couldn't spend working and making money. If they were gonna dick me around and try and get paid to fix something on my car I could fix myself, at least do it in a timely fashion so I could get to everything I needed to today. And don't insult my intelligence, rotors can have some rusting before failing state inspection. Rotors are iron and are impossible to keep in pristine condition, they rust when they first hit the road. read more

The 5 stars are for the employees at the Salem NH Pep Boys on Broadway. I had a headlight out on an Acura that requires removal of the front fender and other parts just to get to it. It's a 2 hour job at minimum. I made an online appointment but should have called since this is not a normal headlight repair and it takes significant time. When I arrived it was obvious that they were very busy and not in a position to do this work. It was already 3 pm and there were several cars ahead of me. The employees were courteous and helpful despite this. Initially I was going to have to set up a new appointment the following week to allow enough time to do the work, however, they managed to squeeze it in and got the headlight done in a very reasonable amount of time. Really appreciated the staff at Broadway Salem NH Pep Boys for getting this done for me. read more

The second time they told me the inspector didn't come in until 11am (I was there at 9:30) l. I asked why this wasn't posted someplace that a customer could read so they wouldn't waste their time. My daughter ordered her tires on line last week and made a reservation for today at 2:00 for the Salem NH store. Reservation was confirmed with a later phone call. Daughter showed up this afternoon at 2:00pm and was curtly told "we don't have your tires". Daughter responded "but you said on the phone that you had them". PEP Boys guy: "we don't have them now". This is the worst service repair and routine maintenance Pep Boys that exists. Stay away. I should have known there would be issues when I was able to get an online appointment the night before. First, there was a total lack of quality. I went in for an oil change and tire rotation and verified this not only at the time I dropped the car off, but when I was ready to pay. They verified that they had done both the oil change and rotation, but that was not true. I had marked the tires to verify the rotation. They indeed had not done the rotation after stating they had. They didn't even bother to explain what happened, but just brought the car back in without checking if I had the additional time to wait. They wasted my time and I question if the oil change was a actually done. The assistant manager assured me he personally said the oil change, but I find that hard to believe. This was my second bad e problem there as about a month ago, I brought my vehicle in for a tire continuously losing pressure. They had previously looked at the tire and told me it was fixed. This time they told me it was a bad tire and I needed a new one. Considering that I purchased the tire protection and road hazard, I was surprised to hear that the replacement would be $190. When I argued about this as my tire has only 50% tread wear, they brought it down to $145. I didn't agree as a new tire at another tire service would have been cheaper. I went to the Portsmouth Pep Boys as it's was on my way to an appointment and they were great. Looked at the tire and it was a bad seal (I suspect most likely from Salem Pep Boys). They foxed the problem and no issue since. STAY AWAY FROM PEP BOYS SALEM. The assist manager was so unprofessional and blamed others as he was new and it wasn't him. Yeah, that's gonna be a "no" for me ... I made an appointment online to have 2 new KYB struts installed in my 2001 Sequoia - about 1 week in advance. The struts were about $82.00 or less with a promotion online at PepBoys store. Not installed - but that is the price I could buy them for from them. I show up for my appointment a week later and the guy tells me that "oh we don't stock those struts". Well, it would have nice for them to at least read my appointment request and maybe order them in advance or call me ahead of time since i took the morning off to have this done at clown camp. So our hero goes on to explain to me that he has to order them from NYC and that each shock will cost over $224.00 per unit. Plus an additional installation charge! That is close to 3x for parts alone and what I can buy them for about 6 feet away. He tells me that the price is more because "they offer a different warranty" for that price. Oh plus the additional $35.00 per strut extended warranty option - all for shocks that have a lifetime warranty from KYB. With that kind of extra coverage I would hope they would sit in my backseat everywhere i go in case something happened. He then offers me classic bait and switch to install Monroe Quick struts instead but agrees the KYB's are superior product. They obviously have a huge margin with Monroe. So once the carnival music stopped - I bit my lip and said "okay, whatever, order the struts and I'll be in about 1 week later to have them installed" ... Over 1 week later I show up in the am to have my new overpriced expensive shocks (struts) installed. Got my Big Gulp coffee and computer ready to go and wait it out. I walk up to the counter and I see the struts through the window. Then the clerk starts with the "hmmm", "ohhh", "hmmm" ... The kinda stuff that you don't wanna hear from a doctor .... He begins to tell me that he cannot install these struts on my truck because the coils are too strong and his equipment cant compress the coils to install the struts. Then without asking me ... starts to call someone to have some Monroe Quick struts sent over. After he gets off the phone I tell him that I want the KYB's installed and not Monroe which is why I waited to have the overpriced equipment installed. Then he tries to sell me on the Monroe's and contrary to our previous hero explains that the KYB's are junk and sees them come back all the time with leaks. Seriously? At that point, I offered to buy the KYB shocks that they ordered hoping to have a real garage install them. He tries to make me a deal on the price - well above what I could get them for online at PepBoys. I took the high road and just turned around and walked out ... I ordered all 4 for less than the part price of one they were going to sell me. Oh and got a $40.00 online rebate from KYB. Never again people, never again ... don't waste your time here. read more

I ordered tires on line Great Deal buy two get two free ! I made an appointment for 11am & poor guys so busy they told me 2 1/2 wait ... ;( they bought me a " Lyft" home until car ready ! It did take quite a bit longer but for that deal only one can imagine the volume of busy !!! They were honest & apologizing about the wait !
