I have always found this Midas to be honest and helpful. One major repair I had done here was about $200 cheaper than what Les Schwab quoted and was done well. They also work on my 2006 SAAB which can be a tricky vehicle. I keep going back for these reasons. read more

Stay away! The mechanic used a tool to screw on oil filter which cause damage to the thread. The manager had extreme tunnel vision and could not fathom one of his mechanics doing this. He put the blame on the mechanic who did my next oil change Who made me aware of the damage. He insinuated that the damage was caused when the filter was taken off. Then proceeded to bash their reputation like a child. He just kept babbling on avoiding taking responsibility making it seem like my claims were ridiculous. I have No reason not to believe the mechanic who has been doing the oil changes for our 3 cars for the past 6 years. The only reason midas did my oil change is because I needed a new oil pan and my main mechanic only does tires and oil changes. Midas Would not even consider fixing what they broke. I made the mistake of telling him that my mechanic had stated that it would most likely cost around $1000 to fix. He just thought this was so comical and told me that it would probably only cost $100 then as he did more research the Price started going up. So turns out the mechanic wasn't that off on the price. This is how ignorant and non open minded he was. He originally stated he was going to talk to owner which I don't believe he did. The whole experience was awful. It would be nice if people took responsibility for their mistakes. Stay away!!! If it was an option I'd give them zero stars. read more

Very friendly staff... i did find it odd one of the employees was eating their lunch while sitting with customers in the lounge. Also, one of the employees took my lug nut key out of my car and that was the last I seen it. My vehicle has a faulty window on the passenger side front and I know they messed with it and they also denied it. The electricals for the faulty window caught fire the next day. They did not explain to me they were going to go through my entire car inside and out to make sure everything was safe and correct I don't appreciate them leaving me in the dark on the courtesy services they were going to perform , which was checking everything inside and out of the vehicle. It took so long for them to just put the tires on my car because they checked everything without telling me. read more

I called and told the guy at the front desk exactly what i was wanting the oil changed in a 2024 Mustang gt. He said it would cost $20 more being that it takes more oil than a stand oil change ($89 total) He said bring it in my guys are just standing around. I get there and he takes down my mileage and then tells me that it would be $151. I told him you just quoted me an hour ago $89. He said yea I didn't realize it cost that much more for the additional oil. I said well that's not my fault.he said yea sorry that's the best he could do. So much for customer service! This is the kind of shop you tell you daughters and wives to not go to because they try and upsell or overcharge women. When you call them, the front desk boy Jason will be super rude. When you ask to talk to a manager, he will claim he is. Just like a good ole boys club, they will stick together and defend each other. They are not affiliated with the BBB. Very shady business practices go on here. Port orchard has many small mom and pop mechanics in the area who will take care of business properly. These guys won't. Dont waste your time or money here. This place has really gone down hill. I used to take it here several times a year for an oil change. The last time I took it in for a "free" oil change, a promotion from previous appointment, it still ended up costing over $100. Add to that, I asked them to check the torque on the starter bolts while they have it on the rack for the oil change. Tacked on $20. They used the wrong oil which was part of why "free" was over $100, plus the torque check which one would think would be part of their "free safety check". The reality is those "safety checks" are just fishing expeditions for them. read more

I was at Goodwill Friday and couldn't restart car. It was pushed to Midas, since it didn't respond to battery jump. My daughter told Midas owner to test for starter problem. Was charged $116 upfront, told diagnosis would be completed end of day, owner Brian droveus home. No word at end of day, nothing Saturday. I called, Brian said everything checked out but he couldn't pick me up till after closing time and he'd call first. He never called or showed up. Sunday a friend took me by, I had my spare key, car wouldn't start. I called Monday, manager Jason said he'd work on it some more and call me. My friend took me to Midas, I was able to start the car and drive it two blocks to my regular mechanic, where it died. My regular mechanic had it diagnosed and repaired by the next day. I had never had any problems at Midas, but they have new mechanics now... told me my rear brake pads were at 2-1mm and asked if I needed a $40 inspection to make sure. Said no, took my car to Les Schwab to make sure, and they said my rear brake pads are at 5mm. So don't go to Midas if you want to get swindled. read more

Needed muffler replacement. Was told it would take 7 days to get the muffler but I could pay $60 more for overnight. 6 days after this conversation and my agreement to pay the extra $60 I was informed that they just got the muffler in and will start working on it today. I asked if they were going to deduct the extra $60 for overnight and they refused. Apparently, to Midas overnight is 6 days. Took it to a PRIVATELY owned shop and they had it replaced for 40% less in 2 days. Never again will I waste my time with Midas. read more

I recently requested a brake service to be done on my car. They end up claiming more work needed to be done, but, we approved only the previously quoted amount. My wife goes in to pick it up and is charged almost 100 more than the quoted price. I call a few days later to get rectification and the person was rude and abrasive. I asked for pictures of the work done and was questioned "what are these for" I tell him that I just want to see the work needed to be done on the front brakes. Later we get to the charge dispute and he tells me that he was doing me a favor cause he's off the clock. I said I would wait to be transferred to someone on the clock (he was not off the clock). I then ask to speak to the manager because this is a bit ridiculous and he said he is the manager. I told him I know thats not true and to please put me to someone higher. He then hangs up. I call back again to see if I can speak to someone else, same guy, hangs up. We go in and speak to a new person who is just as rude and I tell him we were over charged. After some back and forth he tells me that I was not over quoted, work changes based on the day. I told him we sign up for that price and I hope he can see where we're coming from. He then tells me I have an attitude. I tell him im not there to be talked to about my attitude and he then says what are we there for, I say to get the money back or rectify the situation. He slams the paper down on the desk and says they will not be helping me with that and have a good say. I ask if they are refusing to do anything and he then is more rude. It was awful... Half of the dials on my dashboard were not illuminated. I visited MIDAS, Port Orchard on March 15th, and asked to fix the problem. I think I need to be able to see the speedometer at the very least. I asked to fix the problem, it could be the bulbs, wiring or fuse. I brought the set of bulbs with me JUST IN CASE. The mechanic spent 25 minutes on the "repair" and I paid $191. It was a very sunny day, so it was only in the evening that I noticed that ALL the dials were not illuminated now. After a return visit on March 19th nothing had changed except that I lost almost two more hours and was late for work. I asked for a refund to go to another shop. Jeff promised to call back, but he did not. I called every day, I was promised to call back, but no one called back. Then the owner contacted me and... he blamed ME for the fact that they wrote "replacement of bulbs" on the receipt instead of diagnostics. It was not my decision what to write on the receipt. I asked for the problem to be fixed, not the bulbs to be replaced. Now he accuses me of threatening them, because I notified him that I was going to share my negative experience. Shady! Won't be back!! I have previously used Midas when I lived in Chicago and had a great experience. Went to the Port Orchard Midas for an oil change after moving out west, and they informed me I needed to get my brakes inspected. They said the front brakes were great, but that my rear brakes were not in good shape. My brakes started making a grinding noise a couple weeks later, and so I told my dad and he told me to bring my car by so he could take a look himself. We inspected the rear tires because that's what Midas said needed attention. Nothing wrong, still had a good groove on the brake pads...so he cleaned the brake pads off and reassembled...and my car still made noise. So he ordered some brake lubricant and some more cleaner and said we would inspect the front tires later. Well we looked at them today, and my front right tire's brake pad was COMPLETELY worn down. Midas didn't inspect anything, and going forward I won't be back. Would not recommend people to them. Do not trust them to handle future maintenance problems. Included a picture of my front brake pads for reference. Furthermore. I had one of my tires replaced by them...they gave me a quote, I accepted and scheduled an appointment to get it changed. When I got there, they said they didn't have my tire and they weren't sure what the person was looking at when she said they had my tire in stock initially. They said they have a similarly priced tire...but it was more money than the tire I was quoted. They should have honored the initial quote but instead they made more money off of me. I brought my car in for an oil change at Midas. It had been my oil change place for several years. I got a call shortly after drop off telling me they couldn't open the hood. I told them the last time the hood was opened was 6 months before for an oil change at that same Midas. They insisted that they needed to charge me to fix the hood latch mechanism, which they were last to use. I refused to be charged for a problem that almost certainly they had accidentally created (remember the hood hadn't been opened)! Upon picking up the car there is now a loose cable sticking out where it was attached to the latch and the hood is super tight to the car frame. Neither of these was the case when I dropped off. THEY BROKE THE LATCH AND THEN TRIED TO CHARGE ME TO FIX IT! Unbelievable! read more

My mom recommended this Midas for my oil change. I called to make an appointment. It was apparently after hours but I spoke with the owner (I think her name was Linda) and she was lovely. She said she'd have her manager Shawn call me next day. Shawn called me. He was rude. Like he was being forced to make an appointment with me and I was beneath his time. Today was my appointment at 3 pm. I was running a few minutes behind so called ahead to Midas to let them know and ask if I could still come. Shawn answered and was again rude. He made some comment that he would still "allow" me to come. I guess my oil change wasn't important enough for him, but I should consider myself lucky and be grateful to him for taking my money. I arrived for my oil change maybe 10 minutes behind schedule and went in. It was Shawn. I appreciate they're busy servicing cars but his attitude was again condescending and rude. He stated he would let it slide only this once. I'd had enough. I let this manager Shawn know he had been rude to me three times in a row. His attitude had been consistently negative, rude, and resentful. And I had never been anything but polite to him. I told him his bad attitude had just cost Midas a customer. Ever since Tim left this Midas has gone downhill! The staff could not even diagnose a vehicle to save the vehicle owner money. You bring your vehicle in for a diagnosis for a real problem and they say there's nothing wrong with the vehicle, and take it to the DEALERSHIP. My advise. I took 2 of my cars into Midas to get an oil change (one on 7/25 and the other on 7/26). Nothing unusual was reported about the first car, the second car they told me that I needed new air filters and shocks, I let them know I would buy the air filters and replace them myself. I do not not drive a lot, and it was a hot day, so when I went to drive somewhere on Sunday morning, I turned on my heater and a horrendous sound started happening. I had to have my mechanically inclined husband tear apart the dash to find the old air filer split into two and shoved back in. This created plastics and parts of the air filter to create this noise. Then my husband opened my hood and found pieces of my car not re-bolted down, also there was no reason to unbold these items. I thought my daughters car had perhaps escaped this situation, but today (7/29) she has a low tire pressure light on (which they told me they had checked).. I am a little confused about how my 2 cars were driving excellent and just in need of an oil change, and I get them back in this condition. read more

Long story short they charged me 200$ for a diagnostics test to do maintenance which they deemed to cost 2,600$, took it down the street got a free diagnostics test, and paid 1,700$ for better work. read more

These guys are seriously thee best! They are sooo helpful, quick but thorough and very trust worthy. We've been coming here since we moved to port orchard 2 years ago. They're always ready to break down the diagnostics for me (since I don't speak mechanics lol) and are always trying to get me the best deals. Very family friendly. We took both kids today as we waited for our oil change and they had toys and crayons for my 2 yr old. I took my car (2003 Suburban) in for a free brake inspection. After the inspection, I was told that I need all new pads, rotors and calipers. They quoted me for over 5 hours of work. The quote came to over $1,800. After researching the issue and speaking to some friends, I decided to buy the parts myself and have another technician perform the work. The technician that did the work for me called and said that all of my calipers were in perfect shape and that it only took him a little over 2 hours to complete the work. The additional calipers and labor hours that Midas quoted me was over $800! I understand the additional overhead that it takes to run a national company but upselling products and labor that aren't needed is ridiculous. Over $1,800 for them to perform the work vs $450 for me to deal with it. I'm glad I took my business elsewhere. read more

This is by far one of my favorite places to take my car. They are straight forward with you and honest about what is going on with your car. They speak in plain English when explaining things and are out to help you, not just take your money. They give you ideas of what your car might need in future visits, will quote you how much it generally costs, and then send you on your way- no pressure to do it now, do it when you feel is right. Very disapointed as I have used them in the past for brakes...my husband and I went to them to repair a car, and we authorized payment for diagnostic services, they called and said what they thought was the issue so we authorized a $1400 fix...only to find out it was misdiagnosed and their "fix" did not correct the problem we went in for. I was assured that I woykd hear by the end of business today what the issue was and how much more we would owe and I have not heard...it's almost 8pm!!! There was a time when I was a new driver & I only went to the dealership my car came from for everything. People always complained that services at dealerships are so much more expensive that other auto places. Well, I never found the prices to be that much different from one another. Eventually, I started to go to Midas here in Port Orchard. It is located near my home & I had friends & family who raved about how wonderful the place is. So I switched over & I was happy with them for a time. However, in recent times, some of the staff seems to have changed. I don't know where they found these new guys. There is one individual, in particular, who comes to mind... We went in & had a full inspection done on our 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Its getting old & the mileage is pretty high & it wasn't running as well as it once had so we wanted to know what needed to be fixed. One of the things they listed as needing replacement in the near future was our catalytic converter. It wasn't too long before the time came to replace it. While I was in there, they told me the muffler would need to be replaced & took me in the back to see why. The muffler was full of holes & definitely needed replacing. My question is, why wasn't this caught during the initial inspection I paid for?? It was news to me that anything was wrong with our muffler. So I went ahead & had them replace it along with the catalytic converter. I was also conerned about our belts. I asked them to look at those too, but the "one individual who comes to mind..." told me they were fine & I probably had a leak that was spraying on them, causing the noise. After walking out of there $400 later, as I drove home, I noticed my car was still making the same exact noise it has been, though not as loud. However, as I continued to drive, the noise increased. They told me that my catalytic converter had broken into pieces. I figured maybe they missed a piece somehow? I don't know. I am not very mechanically inclined at all so I am sure I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about, which is true. Anyway, I took the car back the following week & explained to them that I was having the same problem as before they worked on the car. So they agreed to take a look at our Jeep again. I was annoyed to be sitting in a car place again when I shouldn't have to be but I just wanted to problem fixed. So, basically, the noise was not our catalytic converter. It was our engine. They told us we need a new one! They said they would not even bother with the car anymore & not to spend the money to replace it. We got some other opinions who said the same thing. Even a bigger issues than the muffler, how did they MISS that our engine was having trouble? How did they not catch it the week before? Were they just making assumptions on what was wrong & what certain noises were?? I brought the car in so they could tell us what was wrong & they were unable to do so. They told us they have no idea how long it might last, maybe a week, maybe a month. It was literally later THAT SAME DAY that the engine went. I feel like they contributed to this car engine going out. Maybe if they could properly diagnose car issues, like they were asked & like we paid them to do, we could have made the efforts to fix them before it was too late. I feel like they didn't even put the proper the amount of effort into looking the vehicle over & did a very half ass job. On the other hand, if the car was about to die & there was no saving it, I wouldn't have invested $400 into replacing those parts. Either way, I am not a happy customer. My entire family have always thought highly of Tom & Vance. I don't know who is in charge of the staff there but they are going to ruin that business. Back to the dealerships. I normally change my own oil, but my truck needed a tire rotation, so I took it their for their advertised "Oil Change and Tire Rotation." At check-in I stated I wanted a tires rotated. He said they would do it if they needed it. I told him that I had already measured the tread ware, and they did need it. They did not rotate the tires because he said the front had more than the back, and since the front wear faster than the rear that I should wait until they are less than the rear. I told him that it was my understanding that the drive line tires, the rear for my truck, wear faster than the non-driveline tires. He said, "no," that actually the front wear faster because of the engine weight on them. I wasn't going to argue, but I did check on-line sources and also asked a mechanic friend of mine. Both confirmed my understanding was correct. Regardless, so long as there was no potential danger, the vendor should have performed what I, the customer, wanted and paid for. I should add that they did complete the job within the estimated time. read more

Our experience with the Port Orchard Midas was a nightmare from beginning to end. We left our car for a repair that we were told would take 2 or 3 days. Then the excuses began. Almost 2 weeks later the manager admitted that no work had been done on the car and couldn't be started for another 3 days. We picked up the car at that point and took it to Les Schwab. DON'T go here go anywhere but here. They will steal you blind. Went in and told them I have a miss in my 03 f250 v10 and I wanted the plugs changed. They gave me a quote for $700 bucks. I told them to forget it I will do it myself. I went to West Bay Auto and got 10 plugs for $30 and 1 coil pack for $50 just in case. Went home changed the plugs and still had a miss under load so reviewed the plugs for the worst and replaced that coil pack. All fixed in under 2 hours. I cant stress enough these people will take your money. read more

I was in Port Orchard working on a friends' home when I was told my brake lights weren't working (by a guy who almost rear ended me). As a contractor if my truck doesn't work I can't earn a living. I called Midas, explained my problem and they told me they'd take care of it. And they did! Tom, Tim and they're crew were professional and understood how critical it was that my truck was fixed quickly. I dropped my truck off at 2:00 and by 5:00 not only were my brake lights working, but the light that flashed randomly on my dash was fixed as well. I would send ANYONE to these guys with absolute faith that they would be taken care of. If you live in Port Orchard and you don't have your car serviced here you are making a mistake! I have to say....I stopped in today to have my 2005 Subaru looked at. I was told that my heat shield needed to be welded back on to stop the rattling. Nervous as could be in regard to cost..... I was told the inspection was free. Isaac pulled my car in and put it on the lift. As I was chatting with another gentleman, Chuck, that worked there, Isaac walked over and said "All Done". In a matter of a few moments he fixed my problem just like that and at no charge!!. This is the kind of good loyal customer service I have been looking for. Knowing very little about cars and having been unfortunately taken advantage of in the past.
