Do not let Midas work on your car! Took my car there August 13 for an alignment. Midas rep called half hour later saying my car needed lower control arms, ball joints and $1750 just to do the alignment. Was told I also needed tires, spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. I picked up my car without having any of these services done. Took my car to a reputable shop (Rose's Auto Service, 822 Bleigh Ave.) the next day and they completed the alignment without a problem. IF NEGATIVE STARS WERE AN OPTION.....!!!! scammers and thieves galore. I went here for inspection only because someone had gifted me a Groupon. Well, after me sitting there for hours they tell me I need $1700 in repairs (including ONE windshield wiper) to pass inspection. I tell them I will be back tomorrow knowing that didn't sound right. They ask if I want them to at least put the wiper on. I say sure why not. So they get their $30 extra out of me. Go to the place my friend highly recommended to me (friend works at an inspection station but it was simply too far to get to them) and they say "so you only need safety your other sticker is good for a year, all you need is wipers to pass safety). EXCUSE ME?! So not only did everything pass except the wipers, that means Midas charged me for replacing a wiper and DIDNT EVEN REPLACE THE DAMN WIPER And they also didn't tell me the emissions passed. So all in all I'm out a second inspection fee and the cost of one wiper blade that I gave to Midas but it's a hell of a lot better than $1700 of work I didn't even need. Fraudsters all the way I will leave this review again and again if I have to. WOMEN ESPECIALLY do not go here. P.S. not to mention the insulting way the guy was talking to me he just assumed I did not have the money to be paying $1700. Immediately started talking to me about financing options. Sir my side eye is not because I can't afford it it's because I know you guys are full of shyt. Why would I pay a 35%-112% APR even my worst credit card is only 28%. Midis: 2300 Castor Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19134 I had to almost argue about the service that I was paying for when I walked in the door. I wanted a Synthetic blend Oil change and Tire rotation, and was told my Rouge only calls for the more expensive Synthetic Blend. After finally convincing (Googling), explaining that I had it done plenty of times with no issues, signing a waiver, they finally decided to give me what I asked. This is the second time they have found a nail or plug in my tires, and they didn't rotate them as advertised. If you care your car or your safety, I strongly suggest you to find another place. I asked this store to check my tire after hitting a pothole. The store told me nothing wrong with my tire and wheel and asked me if I wanted to change my filter and wiper blades (this kind of suggestion is always a red flag for any auto repair store). Tire was still leaking for unknown reason. I took my car to my go-to mechanic and he told me the tire side wall was damaged. How can Midas miss that? Poor workmanship and customer service. I came for other services but they told me my car won't start because one of their tests drained the power and I need a new alternator and battery. I agreed to buy an alternator and battery and got an oil change. After a short drive my check engine and oil change lights came on, my tire pressure light is on... seems like they caused more damage than help to my car... and charged me close to $1000 for it. My insurance Co. Sent me to this Midas on 854 cottman ave. for them to fix my WHEEL BAIRING the employee Mark Lance told me a single Black female that it couldnt be done without New tires.told him that I couldnt afford at rhis time. His ryes then lit up and he pressured me into accepting credit from easy pay. They approved ,once they approved they threw the tires on and said car ready .I cried and explained to the manager that I didnt come there for tires He eolled his eyes at me and said that Mark the original mechanic had left and all he wrote om the incoice was tires and All he heard us discussing was tires.(lie) He exclaimed again that my car was ready .They parked it in front of the door. So I finally got in and sat and cried because they got over on me.I finally left and gets almost home in Delaware and receive a phone call from the manager that I forgot to pay. I thought they took the money already because they set the payment up and brought me the car to the front door .I explained that they did nothing I came ther for pressured me into purchasing tires and sent me away. I was so upset I left with my original key .I forgot that they had used the spare key. Terrible, terrible business- they try to scare you into getting all this work done- specifically women. It's really a shame. On one occasion the front desk sales person told me that if I didn't get a certain part replaced that I would need to keep my radio low-so that I could listen to the sounds of the car in order to keep safe. That if I heard a loud piercing sound- I was somewhat doomed funny but sadly it's true. On another occasion, another front desk guy cops an attitude bc I didn't want them to complete a job, I wanted to get a second opinion- thank God I did! My daughter took her car there for one issue to be resolved. She has a foreign vehicle that require meticulous repair. She trusted the knowledge and expertise of this Midas location. During the initial repair the mechanic caused another issue (which was repaired) but caused the vehicle to remain at the shop additional days. The manager stated the car would be taken to the actual dealership to rectify the problem caused. Miraculously, the problem is instead fixed my Midas. Then she was told that another issue was found and it would need repair. After spending an additional $1300 on a repair she is still experiencing the issue!!!! Total cost $2000. Most of the managerial staff was rude and dishonest during this whole ordeal. Corporate has been contacted without resolution. The only thing let is to pursue public and legal assistance with this matter! If the shop was not equipped to perform the repair for which the car was brought there....that should have been stated to avoid months worth of headache additional money as the car still has an unsolved issue. read more

A year ago, when I visited Midas, the mechanic told me that my battery was unable to hold a charge adequately, and that this would probably result in starting problems and a dead battery. Then he tried to sell me a new battery and installation for over $100. I refused. Turns out my car has had zero problem starting over the past year. This was clearly an attempt to get me to spend more money. Makes me suspect that the supposed "blown tire" was the same. I wish I had refused all service, disputed the charge for the supposedly failed inspection, and brought the car to a more reputable place. read more

took my car into Midas for inspection, after it was at the Mini dealer for two months waiting on a part to be delivered from Germany, while there I was advised I needed front brakes....and they failed me for inspection.... mind you when I finally got my car back from the car dealership, I was advised from their 12point inspection that my brakes were fine. Midas was going to charge me over $780.00 to replace my front brakes. when I spoke to my car dealership, they advise front brakes would only cost me $425.00. Midas tried to play me. I bought new tires in 2019 and it's been hell ever since. Went there with my car driving perfectly fine, left with my car tremendously shaking. After the third time of them trying to correct the problem, I just settle. Stupid of me to return today and ask them to rotate the tires, since I purchased them there! Well now my car is pulling to the right, and it's shaking worst than ever!!! They will hear from me first thing Monday at 7:30 am! I wish I had read their reviews before trusting them with my car! One star is a LOT to give. This place deserves no business. My car sat in their lot for 11 days. No work was completed. I was going through my warranty company and they didn't send in any of the photos that were required. Not one photo they claimed to send, went through. I sent the photos they provided to the warranty and they received them immediately. I was stolen from. I removed my vehicle yesterday, without being serviced due to them charging me $1900 for a power steering pump to be fixed. Who in their right minds can tell me that is not overcharging? $1100 out of pocket and my warranty would cover the rest. I told them I know better than this. The district manager of all Philadelphia stores approached me when picking up the keys and tried to assure me that he would do his best to "make me happy". Immediately I told him nothing with this business would make me happy. He said he would remove $550 off of the price and charge me $449. What mechanic can rightfully take off $550 off of a job? NONE. They were taking advantage of me and thought I wouldn't fall into their trap. The BEST part of this entire process was the fact that they submitted that they completed the work and charged my warranty company $857 to be paid out. They were PAID for a job UNDONE. I took my car keys and told them I would be taking my business elsewhere. Why would I do business with people who are MONEY HUNGRY and don't respect women? This is absurd. If i was a MAN I never would have endured such horrible treatment. Each employee was very rude. I would NEVER recommend this business to ANYONE. I've been bringing my car here for going on three years now. The General Manager and his team are always pleasant and friendly! I always know exactly what's wrong with my car and never feel robbed of proper maintenance. I drive a foreign car which can be pretty pricey but they're always fair to me. I once was able to receive a courtesy ride to the local mall while they worked on my car. Two new struts later, and I'm back on the road in less than two hours! I posted on their site 2 weeks ago and it still has not shown up. I guess they only post good reviews. Anyway, I had brakes installed 11,000 miles ago and noticed that the rotors were scratched. Rotors they were supposed to put on new. They looked at the vehicle and told me that the I needed new brakes and rotors. They claimed the brakes were down to 2/32. Even though the brake pads were under the lifetime warranty, they wanted to charge me more that I had paid previously. They stated the rotors would cost more because they don't stock the inexpensive rotors anymore. ummmm....they don't stock any parts. They call and have them delivered by an auto parts store. Anyway, I took the truck to the dealer where they inspected the brakes and told me I had 6/32 on the brake pads and they would last at least another 8 months. Midas also said they replaced the wipers but 4 months later, they were falling apart. I doubt if they were ever replaced. I will never go back there. read more

This place sucks! Took my car for inspection and emission test and yet charged me over $77. They installed a broke light without my notifying me first until I picked up my car and ahead already charged me for it. My fiancé took his car today for inspection also and came out to $103. I called to see if inspection is done and they told me that the wiper blades needs to be replace and recommend that front tires be replaced. They told me the estimate of the blades and tires. I told them no I don't want to get it done it pass the inspection. Until my fiancé went there to picked up his car and they already charged for the blades Smdh. Disappointed at the lack of customer service. I've been a loyal Midas customer for years and even appreciated many of the front desk workers. But after researching the service provided to my vehicle during my last visit, I will not be returning. The service was way over priced, especially for a loyal customer. My recommendation is that you do your research on the work that your vehicle requires before coming to this location. I came in her for an oil change and the guy who was setting me up printed out a bill for $70. When looking over the bill I noticed that they had given me a bill for "synthetic oil". I told him I just want a regular oil change and he said that Honda says that synthetic oil is needed. I pulled up the owners manual from the website (thank god for the internet) and showed him that they do not require synthetic oil for the car. He had no problem changing my request, but made sure to include "we are not responsible for any problems with your car for choosing the wrong oil." I will NEVER come back here. As much as I don't like to give negative reviews, I think that people need to know what a terrible place this Midas is. Not only was I charged exorbitant prices for services that I didn't need, but when I returned two weeks later for something unrelated to the car mechanism that needed checking out I was told that my tires were bad when they were more than okay two weeks prior. Did I mention that I spent almost $500 on a fault that didn't seem necessary (because my car drove excellently and had been seen by a different mechanic for inspection about two months before) the first time around? Plus, I had tried getting my state inspection done here and failed! I was so mad that I actually did my own research into grounds for failing the PA state inspection and found out that their claims (if even true) were bogus. I went elsewhere and passed. I went to Midas July 1st to repair my front brakes and rotors.They charged me a total of 396.54.My car seemed to run fine until yesterday 9/30/14 when I noticed a grinding sound while driving.On my way home from work today the sound from my car was getting progressively louder.My car started to shake violently and could not accelerate normally. When I arrived at my street, my drivers side wheel came off completely and almost caused me to crash.I advise everyone to go elsewhere to have their car repaired.Their negligence nearly cost me my life. read more
