Buyer Beware Based…read moreon my experience, get a second opinion before authorizing any repairs at any Mavis location. What happened (as I experienced it): I went to a Mavis Tires in Union NJ. I was told my front brakes needed immediate replacement and agreed to the recommended service. After the repair, I l remembered that a Nissan dealership had inspected the vehicle twice the day before and a week prior. Checked Nissan's reports when I got home. Nissan's reports indicated the brakes were within normal operating limits with no safety concerns. My perspective: Based on the information I received from different inspections, I believe the repair may not have been necessary. In general, I would encourage others to consider getting a second opinion when repairs are described as urgent or not going to a Mavis at all. I will not return to a Mavis at all for any service!

Well, after me sitting there for hours they tell me I need $1700 in repairs (including ONE windshield wiper) to pass inspection. I tell them I will be back tomorrow knowing that didn't sound right. They ask if I want them to at least put the wiper on. I say sure why not. So they get their $30 extra out of me. Go to the place my friend highly recommended to me (friend works at an inspection station but it was simply too far to get to them) and they say "so you only need safety your other sticker is good for a year, all you need is wipers to pass safety). EXCUSE ME?! So not only did everything pass except the wipers, that means Midas charged me for replacing a wiper and DIDNT EVEN REPLACE THE DAMN WIPER And they also didn't tell me the emissions passed. So all in all I'm out a second inspection fee and the cost of one wiper blade that I gave to Midas but it's a hell of a lot better than $1700 of work I didn't even need. Fraudsters all the way I will leave this review again and again if I have to. WOMEN ESPECIALLY do not go here. Jeffrey was at the front desk and decided that since trying to jump to my battery wouldn't work, it "must be the starter." Andrew M was the technician, and when I received his inspection report, none of the codes that showed up indicated anything about a starter issue. Unfortunately, it was not the starter, as my car shut off on me while I was driving just 5 days later. When I finally got the vehicle back to my house, I called Pep Boys and explained the situation. The woman on the phone told me she'd get Jeffrey; after 15 minutes on hold, I hung up and tried again - this time no greeting, they just picked up and put my call on hold again. I tried a 3rd time, and same thing. The next day I was leaving for vacation and had to rent a vehicle, on top of the $600+ I spent with PepBoys for a part I didn't even need, to safely get to my destination. I took my car to my Ford dealership when I returned from vacation, and they discovered the issue was actually a blown #9 fuse and bad purge valve. My car has not broken down since Ford serviced it. For the past month I've called Pep Boys regarding this issue and have been told a manager reviewed my case (#154026) and will call me - I've still have never heard back from anyone. I've also emailed them at least 2 times and those have gone unanswered as well. The same day, there was an older woman who came in just minutes after me with the same issue, her car wouldn't start. Jeffrey said that was a starter issue as well; also before her car was even inspected/put to a code reader. Coincidence, or were starters a sales push during that time? Considering no one has had the decency to return my calls or emails, I suspect either a guilty conscience or willful ignorance. I'm currently filing formal complaints with various entities.
