These guys ripped off my son BIG TIME. He went in because his ABS and Brake warning lights were on. They told him low voltage was the cause and his battery needed replacing. Over $350 for a 36 mo. battery and installation. A battery would cost about $150 installed at Walmart. They said one front caliper was frozen, and sold him a pair of them, plus brake pads and rotors (front axle only), and replaced his brake fluid. The total bill was over $1700! Shops get a discount on parts, but they charged him 2 or 3 times full retail plus almost 6 hrs. labor. They wanted to do his rear brakes too, for another $500. And after all that, his ABS light is still on! My son is too nice to give them a bad review, but as his dad I couldn't let them take advantage like this without warning other people. read more

I was able to have my emissions checked and finished really quick (in the time it took me to walk to the dollar store and back). I literally walked in and my car was ready. came in as a walk in to get my rear brakes replaced. was only an hour or so wait. friendly staff. now the reason for the low rating is because the service tech cross threaded 4 lug nuts around the car. when I went to get new tires, I ended up having to replace 4 studs before getting the tires on. read more

I strongly recommend these guys. They're very honest and take very good care of their customers. I'm 21 and traveling across the country by myself and by the time I got into Utah my brakes were shot. I was referred to Tom at this Midas. He fit me in to check my breaks when it was 15 mins to closing. He was very honest and told me the damage and listed out other things I would need to get done on my car in the future and said he'd only work on my brakes because that's the only thing I came in for. When I told him I was traveling and had no place to stay for the night, he and his wife we're kind enough to accommodate me and make sure I was safe. They got my car finished up in the morning so I could set off again. Great people. Very honest and genuine. read more

Only had our vehicles worked on once here but they diagnosed my wife's car before we even left, something that two dealerships had brushed off as being a quirk of my wife's car they determined was a simple fix. Thank you Daniel and Stephan at Midas on Washington in Ogden for saving our vacation! We are on a road trip from California through UT, ID, WY, MT, SD, CO, NV. Still at the beginning of our trip when we noticed the battery light on. AAA sent someone to check the battery. Turned out it was the alternator. Midas was able to get the part and do the repair Saturday at 3:30, saving us from a disastrous domino effect of missed hotel reservations. Courteous and knowledgeable. I took my car in to get the emissions test. I pulled in knowing i had an exhaust leak as well that needed to be fixed. Roughly an hour after l dropped the key off my phone rang and on the other end was Edgar, the shop manager. He explained that i needed to replace both catalytic converters as they were rusted and gone bad. The cost would be $1700 which seemed expensive. Edgar told me that if i come in in an hour or so and talk to him that we would work something out. I jumped on my computer and did some research on the parts needed. I found both parts for under $400 on multiple websites. They were bolt on parts and no welding was needed. I was shocked! When i returned to Midas, Edgar presented me with a failed emissions report. When i told him that i wasn't going to pay him $1700 for something i could fix for $400. He shuffled the paperwork and told me that if i just paid $520 to replace the rear catalytic converter, that he would pass my inspection. He said" I don't think you heard me right, I said i would PASS your inspection." I paid him for the failed inspection and took my car in for a second opinion. The fine folks down the street told me rhat both catalytic converters were just fine and that he had welded the hole on the exhaust pipe and that my total cost was less than $100. I paid for my emissions again just because i didn't want to deal with Edgar and his crew again. I almost got The Midas Touch! Watch out! read more

This is the place to get your car repair and make a friend. Friday afternoon I stop in because my car making noise. I describe the noise, Daniel ask Cody to go around the block with me. As we return to the shop Cody have it on the lift and tell me what it needs. He replacing necessary parts, and wait for the other part. Remember that the shop close at 6:PM but the entire crew stay until 7:05PM to finish my car and road test, etc. Greatly appreciate these guys, and so sorry to keep you guy late. read more

I had essentially flattened a 2 foot long piece of my exhaust. The flattened section was dead straight and easily accessible. The guy at the front desk took down my info, put my truck on the lift, came back and told me they would absolutely have to replace the entire exhaust from the catalytic converter back, claiming they couldn't replicate the factory bend in the pipe, quoting me $290. I knew I didn't need all of that, so I told him, "I'll think about it." He asked, "Has it effected performance?" I said, "Well my truck has always been pretty gutless, but I am certain a flattened pipe can't be good, that's why I am getting it fixed." He laughed and said, "Truck? I call those modified minivans, get a real truck, I've got a GMC 2500." I laughed as well, "I said my Honda Ridgeline does everything I need." I couldn't care any less at his attempted insult, as I don't drive a big truck to compensate for something else being disproportionately small. I happily took my "Minivan-truck" to Master Muffler around the corner, (3590 Wall AVE) and paid $80 for this simple fix. read more

I have been going to Midas for years because their work is guaranteed for life mostly. With me moving around a lot this works out great. This particular location is great. They do oil changes for a good price, brakes, any random problem. They are always nice and happy to help. They certainly do not seem to be price gouging by any means. They always give a straight up work order and bill. They also always show me what the problem seems to be before performing the work. I highly recommend these guys. Only downside is they are sometimes slow to answer the phone because they get so busy and they have everybody working. They are nice to shuttle me around when they need to keep my car. read more

Took in my E46 M3 for an alignment since I knew it was off. Normally I would go to the dealership for this but didn't have time so I figured this would work just fine. Not only did they have my car well over 6 hours, they also couldn't get it aligned. Now I understand that things might be out of there hands, but at least try and make it right or give an explanation. Not only did they achieve nothing, but they wouldn't even offer a refund or some form of compensation. Will never go here again. read more

My daughter and I took her Toyota Corolla because the brakes were making noises. Even though they were closing in 15 minutes, Juan and his team took complete care of us. Showed us the brakes in the front and rear and explained exactly what was wrong. We had our new brakes installed and out the door in less than 20 minutes. Lance and crew are awesome! I have a high mileage Subaru and beyond the obvious muffler service, this shop has REALLY good mechanics. They have resolved tricky mechanical issues that baffled the dealership folks. I also wasted a lot of money with diagnostics, these guys figure things out correctly the first time. They also treat me respectfully which is rare for mechanics and women, and they stay in touch through the whole process. These guys advertise oil change for $19.99 I called and asked if it included greasing tie rods on my truck he said yes oil change is $19.99 when I drop truck off they said oh your truck uses 6 quarts so it will cost $5 more for the extra quart I said ok then waited while they went over the vehicle looking for things to sell me I wasn't interested in for 35 min and then they changed the oil in about 10 min. When paying the bill and they charged another $5 for getting rid of the oil. I asked about that and the guy said its right here on a disclaimer form on his desk but they hadn't shown it to me well thats nice but maybe be upfront and let the customer know before the works done. read more

Took my jeep there and ask them to replace my crankshaft sensor. They quoted me at $162. I asked the guy at the front desk why they were charging so much for a job that only takes 10 minutes to do and he responded that Midas had a mandatory charge or 1 hour labor even if it takes then 10 minutes to do the job. Their labor cost its about $99 per hour plus the $35 sensor (cost $12 at autozone) plus taxes and "other parts" came up to be $162. The only reason I needed help its because i don't have the tools to do it otherwise I would of change it my self. I ended up going to Santinos auto shop and got charged $45 and the guy had my car ready in about 15 minutes. read more

I went here for my first time today and was struck by how helpful and professional the staff was! I spoke with Juan on the phone before coming in and he was just as friendly in person. He took the time to make sure I had the exact correct oil filter, which he ordered from his warehouse and had delivered within 10 minutes. Wasn't happy with our experience at Midas. We got an oil change about a week ago, topped off fluids etc. Ever since then we smelled something burning every time we drove the car. We opened up the hood and they had left the Oil cap off and the Brake Fluid cap off. Oil was all over the engine and surrounding areas. We took it in and after some arguing they changed the oil, but refused to clean the engine or do anything about the brake fluid since "it passed the strip test." after approx 20 min of MORE arguing they said they would flush the brake fluid but make us pay for it. My husband asked them to repeat the strip test and show him the result, and if it came back clean we would be happy to pay for the service. After repeating the test they refused to show him the result and instead took it in to flush everything. ***The staff was rude and defensive instead of just owning up to their mistake and fixing the issue.*** They still refused to clean the engine and said that we would have to do it ourselves. Having oil in the brake fluid can cause the brakes to fail, and it's common sense that oil on and surrounding the engine isn't safe either. I'm not necessarily angry that someone forgot the caps, it could have been a simple mistake. However, we don't appreciate waiting for over 3 hours and having to argue to get things done the right way. Owning your mistakes and trying to make things right should be a priority. read more

DO NOT TRUST their ability to correctly diagnose a problem. Their FAILURE has cost an additional $800 after having already spent $1000 to "fix" the problem. The original repair for sticking brakes occurred 2 weeks ago and the car has been driven less than 100 miles. A similar problem was felt last night while driving and the car was taken immediately to Midas this morning. Now supposedly 3 brake calipers have been warped due to a master cylinder problem. Missing a master cylinder problem from the initial diagnosis based on the symptoms is inexcusable. If the master cylinder is a brand new problem, 5 miles will not cause the calipers to warp. I also question the validity/cost of the first "repair", since It did NOT fix the problem! I am not trusting them to continue to work on the car. I strongly recommend taking business elsewhere. read more

They lack integrity, don't trust them! They used to be good about a year ago or more, but now there is a guy in management named Edgar there and things are not the same. I went in for a basic oil change and tire rotation. I had a suspicion that they wouldn't actually rotate my tires, so I marked my tires beforehand. Sure enough... after service, my tires were in the same position. They had given me a paper signed that stated that they did all services listed, which showed a tire rotation from front to rear. I'm so disappointed. How do I even know if they changed my oil or not? read more

Two of my vehicles needed to be registered on the same month. They told me the brake pads on my truck were bad. Tried to give me a price quote but I told them my husband could fix them. Husband went to replace them and said they were at about half life and probably should have been fine but he replaced them anyway. Then they did the inspection for my car. Told me that I had a bolt that needed tightened (they quoted me $70 for that) and that I had a bearing that still had "some life" but that it wiggled some so they failed it. I looked up safety inspections online and found out the DMV doesn't even require a safety inspection for my year of vehicle (2006). When I asked them about that they said they do a safety inspection on all cars 2007 and older. You would think they would do the inspections the state requires of them and not charge me $15 to tell me about bogus problems with my car. I was able to get my car registered without the safety inspection and will be taking my cars elsewhere in the future. read more
