I went to Midas because my car wasn't blowing hot air. I trusted them to diagnose and fix the issue, but instead, I walked out $500 lighter and still without heat. When I arrived, Miguel told me my thermostat was sticking and needed to be replaced. He quoted me $500, which included labor, the part, and a full coolant replacement (which alone was about $100). They offered me a $75 coupon, and I agreed. After waiting 4.5 hours, Miguel came back and told me that even after replacing the thermostat, my car still wasn't blowing hot air. Now, he said I needed a blend door actuator, which would cost another $500. At this point, they were closing, and I was exhausted. I told them to put my car back together so I could figure out my next steps. I didn't even get my receipt when I left. I called the next day to ask for it to be emailed to me--nothing. I called again the following day before they finally sent it. That's when I saw that the thermostat itself was only $34.99, but they charged me $363.99 for labor. At this point, I felt frustrated and taken advantage of. I had paid almost $500, and my car still had the same issue. So, I called and asked if, since they misdiagnosed the issue, they would at least install the correct part without charging me labor again. Brandon, the manager, told me they couldn't give me a break on labor, but he could try to discount the part. I found the part online for $44, yet he told me their price was $199. When I asked if he could meet me halfway, he told me, "We never guarantee the best price on parts." I explained that this wasn't about the price of the part--it was about the fact that I had already paid for a repair that didn't fix my issue. His response? He "couldn't take food off his workers' table." But that's exactly what happened to me. And what really stuck with me was what I observed while waiting 4.5 hours for my car--every single customer had a "secondary" issue pop up after their car was taken apart. It made me wonder: was I just unlucky, or is this a common pattern? At this point, I no longer feel comfortable trusting them with my car. If they misdiagnosed it once, what's stopping them from misdiagnosing it again? I asked Brandon for a partial refund, and he said he'd speak to corporate and get back to me on Tuesday. I want to be fair--no one was rude to me, and the customer service itself was fine. But I can't ignore the fact that I paid almost $500 for a repair that didn't fix my problem. That's not right, and I hope Midas will do the right thing by offering me a refund for the misdiagnosis. I'll update this review on Tuesday once I hear back from corporate. Usually these guys are good and on top of things but not this time. I was told by Ben the manager that my part would be in the next morning. Ben was not working the next morning and I dealt with Miguel and Josh. They didn't have a clue about what Ben had said and said they would call me at 3 separate times and theu did not. I wasted the entire day waiting on them to get an update. They then got upset with me when trying to call them to get an update. They kept blaming the dealership and their delivery guys. It took 2 days to get the part in to fix my vehicle. All I wanted was not to be left in the dark and a little courtesy with an update on the phone. Josh was extremely rude and would not let me get a word in to explain the situation better to him to where he would understand what Ben had told me the previous day. Like I said these guys are usually on top of things but not this time. Hopefully next time they will be more communicative and courteous. read more

My sister was here from Florida for Christmas and her Dodge truck heater was out so she took it to Midas who told her they could fix it. This was on December 12th. They kept changing the estimate to higher and higher amounts as they had the truck torn down. This went on and on and they told her it would be after Christmas because their main mechanic was on vacation. It is December 29th and the truck is still torn down and not repaired. She is stuck here from Florida. I have written corporate, sent messages on twitter and Facebook and still nothing happening. This is ridiculous. This review is my opinion based on my experience only make up your own mind. If only I would have checked Yelp before going to Midas in Middletown, Ohio I never would have gone there. Based on my experience I agree with their rating. Midas is a well known brand so without checking I foolishly went in expecting the best service based on name recognition alone. My biggest gripe is the cost for the job that was done, (replacing the radiator hose) $350. My appointment was at 11am and my car never went into the garage until 12pm. They assessed the job and let me know the horrible news that it would cost $350. I agreed to have it worked on and they let me know it would take about an hour. After 2 hours. I went to check on how much longer it would be. When I walked in several employees were standing around and went back to work when I walked in. Apparently they were waiting for me to come in to find out if I wanted to replace my thermostat when I specifically said I only wanted my radiator hose replaced. While working on everyone's vehicle nearly all of the employees vape. To sum it up, you expect professionalism when paying such a high price, this did not occur. DO BETTER MIDAS! read more

Brought my daughter's 2006 Hyundai Elantra in, needed multiple things looked at and ultimately had brakes done, headlight replaced and oil change done. Received a quote from Miguel within 2 hrs of drop off, price was very reasonable, and was called back for it to be picked up within a few hrs after that. HIGHLY satisfied with timeliness, quality, value and customer service. Will absolutely be back for future work and have already recommended this location (and Miguel!) to 3 people! read more

My AC quit. I brought it in to be fixed. Didn't fix it so I brought it back and again it wasn't fixed. I brought it back. They said we've done everything we can. Now you have to replace the whole thing. Cost me a grand and within a month it conked out again. Brought it in again. They said it was some faulty gasket or something I had to pay for the gasket which is ridiculous because it didn't work more than 3 months. I took my 2006 Tahoe in for new brakes, a transmission service and oil change, as well as a vehicle inspection. It had been 6 years since I had the brakes checked/changed along with the transmission fluid. I scheduled an appointment and took my vehicle in Saturday morning. Within 2 hours I was informed that I did indeed need brakes, and that the services would be done the same day. The price was less than I had expected and the staff were knowledgeable and efficient. Kodey and Kirk were great to work with and I would definitely use them again. I would highly recommend them for vehicle repairs and checks. Definitely worth the price. read more

I CAN'T GET MY CAR!!!!! At 7pm I walked up thinking it must be taking longer than expected, And given the price it should be a long job. It's bad enough that I was going to pay $580 for a tune-up, etc. , but they didn't call me when it was done or tell me when they'd be closing on a Saturday when they said they could do it that day already in the afternoon. MY CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE WITH THE HOOD UP AND THE PLACED LOCKED UP SINCE 6PM ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO CONTACT ME AND I'M A 5 MINUTE WALK AWAY. I didn't get a card with the manager's name on it or I would have hunted him down at home. None of their numbers even went to an answering machine. I need to be a work on Monday well before their opening, and since I'm a teacher it's not like i can call all day. I'd give them a negative number and will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and have already contacted the corporate headquarters. read more

Was out of state in NOV 2021 driving my 04 Dodge truck experienced floating and banging (classic Upper ball joints) I was 300 miles away from home and had no other option than to go to Midas 614 Middletown, OH location. They diagnosed the issue with upper ball joints and tie rod play. After the job was done we proceeded on our 300 mile trek home. The vehicle began to increasingly become unstable floating on the road. We were forced to continue as we were closer to home than the Midas 614 shop Middletown OH. Since there is NO MIDAS franchise location within 90 plus miles of us we were forced to got to our local mechanic we trust. I contacted my local mechanic shop soon after for an evaluation (assuming it must be something else since I just had the work done ($900 worth upper ball joints) This shop video taped the excessive amount of play in the MIDAS installed upper ball joints as well as a missing grease fitting on the tie rod. They recommended that I take the truck to a front end specialist to be repaired as this was a " negligence of installation issue" We did and they replaced the upper ball joints and charged us for the job. We contacted "Kevin" manger of the MIDAS 614 Middletown Auto Center, LTD Roosevelt Ave, Middletown, OH and explained everything as above. He refused to compensate us for the replacement upper ball joint job for 2 reasons 1. He claims the invoice we provided does not say that we had an upper ball joint job re done ( It absolutely does). 2. That because we did not take the vehicle to a MIDAS franchise there is NO warranty. 3. We are only asking the shop be responsible for their failed workmanship as PROVED by our follow up shops work. This is far less than MIDAS charged us for the faulty work they did. We contacted MULTIPLE TIMES (they failed to respond back for over 3 months) TBC Corp. which governs the MIDAS franchise in hopes we could get a rep to actually read our invoice correctly and resolve the issue by simply contacting the mngr "Kevin" and READ the damn line that clearly shows the UPPER BALL JOINTS were RESEMBLED and the line that shows we were charged the $300 plus dollars for the parts and a portion of labor (the shop included other labor as a total). All they did is regurgitate what the manger said already We also asked them to consider this ridiculous claim that because we would not TOW the vehicle over 90 miles to the nearest MIDAS franchise it's not covered. they refused 2 times on this issue We will NOT accept this BS and the idea that this mngr thinks he can IGNORE what 2 shops put in writing and one shop charged us to redo his shops faulty work as in RESEMBLE the upper ball joints. We now have NO CHOICE but to file in claims court and WE WILL Be warned if your out of state and don't have a local Midas where you live they will DENY all claims and you will have to SUE as we are. They got cigarette smoke in my car. I had to spend the day cleaning my upholstery and detailing just to get the smell out. I had taken the car in for a simple oil change and a look at the transmission fluid temperature sensor. They changed the oil but didn't bother with the transmission sensor. They did, however, tell me that a bunch of things were wrong (that obviously weren't - a quick inspection of my garage floor proved my oil and transmission were not leaking) and tried to sell me new struts and shocks. After I complained to headquarters, someone claiming to be from HQ called me back and invited me to "meet him somewhere" so he could deodorize my car. I declined to meet him because, unless HQ is local to me, he was lying. His voice was similar to the person with whom I had dealt at the shop. I'm not quite sure what he really had in mind had I met him! In short, avoid Midas at all costs unless you don't mind having your car absolutely reek of cigarette smoke. They smoked in the shop and even let customers smoke inside there. The techs smoked right next to the cars when the windows were rolled down and the doors were open. Not cool at all! read more

Anyone thinking about Midas just drive to Meineke. Midas told me my rotors needed to be changed and I needed new brake pads. I drive 500 ft to Meineke for a second opinion and guess what... Rotors can be cut and pads need replaced... Midas wanted over $500 and Meineke charged $220. Also while waiting to pick up my car from Midas a lady who had her car's brakes and rotors replace was in line in front of me and they told her she needed new rotors and brakes after THEY changed them a year before.... read more

I went in for an oil change and to have my tires looked at because of vibration. Derrick Dalrymple gave me awesome customer service and was working his butt off the whole time I waited. Working in customer service myself I know how hard it is to juggle 20 things at once and still deal with unpleasant customers. He made it look easy! I got my oil changed and he fixed my vibration! I will definitely be back here for every oil change and recommend it to everyone I know. read more

I made a appointment for a oil change, breaks and Rogers. Upon arriving to appoint I was told the "break tech wouldn't be in until 930am , 1.5 hour wait no big deal. At 9:23 am the manager asks me to come back and shows me items that need maintenance, then proceeds to tell me I also need calipers , estimate $ 800.00. I started asking questions and possible options, he started yelling at me, yes yelling to the degree the other employees look up at the scene unfolding, he stated I was being rude. I was given a estimate for $800. dollars and I'm not allowed to ask questions. Needless to say I didn't allow them to do the work took car to another shop and was not treated poorly and was notified difficult for a mechanic to know unless the brakes and rotors are removed and new items placed and bled. Moral of the review it was not the brake technician that gave me the estimate because he had not arrived to work. read more

Car had a flat tire. Turns out there was a nail in my tire. Go figure i'm in middletown. If it wasn't a nail it would have been a pothole Anyways my dad took my car in to get the tire fixed and the cost was $0. That's right it was free. And when I walked in to get my car back I was told it was all fixed up and ready to go. The guys at Midas deserve a 5 star review so that's what I am giving them. Horrible customer service. I was told $292 for exhaust job, it came back $440. I verified for this price that everything would be new and replace from back of the engine to the muffler . I was told without a hesitation, yes. Had my car all day, got it back and none of the intermediary pipes were replaced. I had to take it back in on Friday due to car was still loud with a new muffler and resonator pipe. Found out, they put the wrong muffler on the car. I addressed the issue about them not replacing the pipes and got a sorry excuse. They had the car all Friday into Saturday. Said they could replace the pipes for cost, I said go ahead. Now my exhaust job went from $292 to over $500 dollars. They had it all day Saturday, so I went all Easter weekend without a car. The place is called Midas. Don't they specialize in car exhausts? Was told they would adjust cost due to all the trouble. Did not get my car back till after 3:00 on Monday. Had to call to see if it was ready, they could not even call me to tell me it was done. When I picked it up, no apology, no price adjustment, nothing....Avoid this place at all cost. Took my truck in 3 times to fix the problem handed over 3000.00 to get it fixed and everything they fixed didn't get fixed. Had them do a full body diagnosis and they came up with the solution, charge me 3000.00 for everything. tps they put in was wrong and it broke, the o2 sensor wire was left on the exhaust and melted, the plug wire for number 2 was left on the manifold and it burnt thrue leaving me with a misfire on cylinder 2. They told me it was a clock spring and it turned out because they installed the tps wrong it shorted on voltage. I took it to Tony's auto and they had my vehicle for 2days doing a diagnosis and they found out the tps was installed 180° out. I'm very unhappy with chris and they way he handled it, he won't fix what his mechanics did and told me not to bring my truck back. I recomend Tony's auto service he gets the work done and a third of the price. He is asc certified and so are his mechanics they aren't a big business so they aren't about the money shop local good shops go to tonys read more

If I could choose zero I would. I gave Midas another chance, I took my car in for an inspection and tuneup. They told me that I have a couple of bad coils and spark plugs, I had those repairs done....after spending three and a half hours there and the mechanic working on two cars at once, only for it to run hot on the way home. I called back up to Midas and told them my problem and that the antifreeze was empty after telling me that they topped it off. I was told to bring it back, I took it back the next morning for a free inspection and was told upon picking it up that it didn't run hot for them and they couldn't find a problem. I took my car back home only to still have problems....my car was worse than when I took it. I talked to them again and was told to bring it back AGAIN, on my way back it died and had to be towed. After getting another FREE inspection and having to call about my car because no one had gotten back that I had CRACKED HEAD GASKET AND THE REPAIRS WOULD BE $3800. I asked why this wasn't found during the first or second inspection...or even during the repairs that I paid for and was told some story about how only the front end was checked during an inspection....???????? I reached out to the regional manager and he offered to refund my initial repairs minus the labor and gave me the story about how an INSPECTION REALLY ISNT AN INSPECTION. Don't make the mistake of trusting Midas with your car.... and don't make the mistake of trusting them to make it right when they make a mistake. read more

Called to get an estimate on getting my rear brakes changed out since I didn't have time to do it. Was quoted a price on the phone based on the make, model, and year of my vehicle. Was told there was a $50 rebate going on. Sent my wife to get it done and they said it would cost more than I was quoted and said they didn't even give me a quote. I was just in for an oil change and had great service!! I had an appointment that I was about 3 min late arriving for, and had planned on waiting. I sat in the lounge and read a book ,something I wish I had more time to do. I got lost in my reading when they called my name , I was finished. Been having a low tire for a couple months, stopped in without an appointment and they were able to get me in immediately. They found a screw in my tire, repaired it right away & didn't even charge me a dime! I was in shock & still am and. I know where I will be getting all of my future oil changes for life now!
