The car was toast but they did everything they could to make this situation easier for me. drove up from Santa Cruz to look at a used car and went here for the pre-purchase inspection. I set up an appointment as well as called ahead. This gave appropriate time for a thorough inspection. The owner, Ken and the mechanic Kevin, were incredible. They took me under their wing to make sure I was purchasing a vehicle honestly. It was a great price for the inspection and they were very thorough. They reviewed the car on the lift which gave us great insight, as well as provided their opinion on the transaction. Ken printed the Carfax report and went through everything with me as well as the basic bones of the car for my own understanding. Wished they were closer to Santa Cruz. Extremely disappointed with this store. Took the car in for tire replacement and alignment. When I called to pick it up, I was informed the car would not start, they jumped the battery and still would not start. They advised to perform a diag, which took a day. After it was complete they said the gears jumped and will need to repair, hence the reason why the car would not start. Was perplexed with their technical analysis. They said a repair will be needed which will be estimated at $2700. I decided to tow the car to another business for a second opinion. The mechanic from the next business informed me that the car did not start because the battery needed juice. When the car started there were noises which I replied of never hearing before. So I agreed to have them perform a diag. When they opened and check the engine components. The gears were still fairly new and they noticed it jumped to 3 teeth's which was never seen before in a fairly new component. Three mechanics looked at it and said that's a first, and looked intentionally done. As a customer, and been in the auto business for over 20 yrs, I am calling foul play on Midas and their mechanics. Their incompetence and greed must be exposed. Desperate times calls for desperate needs. NEVER EVER AGAIN and I have informed my friends and family about buyer beware and to not do business with this location. I originally thought it needed an alignment, but they were very honest and told me this was a balance issue.. I am not sure if this is a franchise location but I saw a business card with "Ken" as the name of the owner of the store... and Ken was sitting at the counter helping customer. I just love being in a store where it's truly run by the owner. Ken was very friendly, smiling throughout the service, and looked little disappointed when I showed up 20 minutes late to my appointment for the oil change. That was 100% my fault. The service crew were nice too... It was very hot today, and the technician working outside in the garage was sweating but working with a smile when he backed out the car. My fiancé usually handles the car buisness and since he's away on a extended buisness trip I took the car in to have the tires inspected. Duh, me waltzing in at nearly one in the afternoon I see the parking lot full BUT since I promised the fiancé to have this done I adhere to the plan. Customer service was friendly but lacking. Since I have limited understanding in what needed to be done the clerk, which I could tell did not have patients. I let him know that we had purchased our tries through them in the past few months and that one of the tires had dropped to 20PSI and I wanted it to be checked for a leak or other possible damage. I was in and out within five minutes of my arrial. He didn't offer a wait time, I had to ask. Knowing full well I had arrived late it would be a few hours. I asked. He confirmed, "a few hours." a few hours later I get the call. No damage. No leaks. Okay...... What was the reason for the tire letting out air? I have the caps on all four. These are nearly new tires. Less than a year old. They don't know what's wrong. Okay. Call fiancé and he flips. Prior to going into the military fiancé worked with his mechanic dad in his shop and grills me. After a few questions and me saying "I don't know" he snears that he'll call me back and wants to call. Fine! Five minutes later fiancé calls still hot and bothered. Apparently during the tire inspection they didnt bother to fully inspect the tire and didn't take the tire off. Also, they do not have a dunk tank to look for leaks. I guess I'll have to take it else where. read more

We have been coming to this Midas for 15 years. There have been a number of management changes but this latest seems to be the best. We recently took my husbands car in for repair. Not only did they repair the original problem, they found another and repaired at no charge! It is very difficult to find this type of service. We have no problem recommending them. The only issue is parking - but really the city is to blame for that. All in all a solid honest business. read more

Just took my 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup in for a brake inspection. Just received a call from them letting me know that my brakes were in good shape and that I had an estimated 30,000 more miles of life in them. Good to know. It's also good to know that this Midas location is honest. They could have told me I needed brakes and I would have not know any difference. I truly appreciate their honesty. Not being in Manteca too long I needed to find a shop I could trust to do my brakes. I went somewhere else and got a quote for brake pads and rotors for my Honda. I called Midas and spoke with Ken the owner who gave me an even better price. I made an appointment took it in and I don't think I was even there an hour. The guy that runs this office obviously has a serious problem I've been to this business before and dealt with a lady that was very nice very helpful had no problems! oil was changed was good service. I returned to get my oil changed again went to the office the guy at the desk said I'll be right with you as he sat there and continued to finish his paperwork nobody else in the office ! sat there about 4 minutes later he acknowledges me and says we don't do walkins you have to have an appointment ! OK so I made an appointment so happened on the day of my appointment I got called into work I called and rescheduled my appointment when I showed up there was no parking finally find parking I go inside 903 the guy tells me sir I'll be right with you as he still continuing to do his paperwork didnt even look up ! Lets me stand there when he does acknowledge me I told him I had an appointment at 9 o'clock he said it's 909 ! I gave your appointmentI away ! I told him I had to find parking ? As there was none ! I gave your appointment away you weren't here on time this guy has a real problem I will not take my business back there if that's the way they treat their customers and by the way I'm not a sir! I have been in customer service for over 30 years and you acknowledge the people that walk on your business. No paperwork is that important that you do not aknowledge your customers with a friendly attitude and a smile ! All I can say is "WOW" , I've been to this Midas a few times and they seem to amaze me every time. They are so caring, so time punctual, and VERY affordable, all the workers there are understanding and really make you feel welcomed. I was having such a bad day due to a flat tire, went to other places that were trying to charged me 75 just to swap out my own tire I brought and wanted me to wait over an hour. Ridiculous, then I went to Midas and right away I felt very comfortable because they are super nice. I took my car in to get some new tires, I love Midas respect Ken the owner and his workers they treated me with nothing but respect so when I came to pick up my car and found my car unlocked I noticed an item missing I went to the office to let them know no course I was upset and usually the last person that was in the car is the one that you would talk to also but that technician had left. They assured me that the owner would get in touch with me when he got back into town yet this happened last week and I haven't heard anything back. It saddens me that as a customer I wasn't important enough to get this issue resolved. I'm not going to give a bad review I just wanted to remind you to remind the technician when they're done with your car to please make sure it's locked. I always worry about going to get my car serviced alone because I feel like most places will try to sell a woman more stuff then you need or just make you feel stupid for not knowing every little thing about your car. That being said, I decided to try Midas a few weeks ago because I got a coupon in the mail advertising $100 of brakes and something about tires. These are the two major things that I needed done so I went in. Not only did they take the time to walk me into the garage and explain what was urgent and what could wait or wasn't needed, but they also let me combine coupons and even cut a little off the total price when I ended up needing more work than anticipated! The overall wait for repairs took a little longer then I hoped, but they had a full house, so that's understandable.. Then just a few days ago I went in for them to check on one of the tires they had rotated because it kept going low. Turns out it was just a loose screw, but they made me feel at ease and didn't charge to tighten everything up! I'll definitely go back here for scheduled maintenance.. read more

Made an appointment for 8 am when they open so I dont have to wait. Get their and they tell me that they are an hour behind schedule and I would have to wait. I have a meeting to get to in an hour so I cant get it done. I ask the guy what is the point making an appointment if u dont honor it. He responds that it happens sometimes that they get behind. I understand that happens sometimes but they just opened up for the day. I wasted a half an hour of my morning and got nothing done to my car. I wont be going back their. I've dealt with the fine fellows at this Midas a few times now and each time has gone very well. They've never attempted to rip me off and trust me it's something I've become pretty adapt at checking for. But what impressed me even more is how they've treated my Grandma. They treat my Grandmother like family, they make sure her car is safe and running well, and the GM is always very very kind to her when she comes in. I called for a "ball park" estimate for a front brake job on my truck. I told them I wanted new rotors, and top of the line everything. The ball park was $280.00 over the phone. That was their hook. Sounds good right, well it was, I got there and it was $530.00 for the front and $700.00 for the back. The back was high because the rear seal "looked like it was going to start leaking". It look like, not it was leaking. You can count on Midas to find several things wrong besides what you are there for. There are several very reputable places to go in Manteca that you can trust, Honest automotive, precision auto, ect.., that hire experienced people that do not have to pad the bill. Oh yeah, Midas charged me $49.99 to up their estimate from $280.00 to $530.00. Midas has gotten the last penny they will every get from me and they can count on me to be a cheer leader against sending anyone there. I have lived in Manteca since 1985. I have 3 cars,a motorhome and 3 kids with cars. They have gotten some of my business in the past, but that is over. read more

About three weeks ago we took my mom's car in for service ( front and back brakes, tire rotation and oil change). We were going on vacation to Southern California and wanted to make sure all our bases were covered. You supposibly pay for peace of mind, but we came to find out this was definately not the case! On the day we were planning to head home (Saturday 3/15) our car started making funny noises. Initially it sounded like we had a flat, but quickly got louder and louder and started to shake as we went 50 mph and higher. You can just imagine the stress of driving in LA traffic with a car that feels like its about to fall apart. Let alone we had children in the car!! To make a story short, we had to stay in Southern California an extra 2 days because we had to take it into a Sears shop Sunday morining. They helped us as much as they could (Thank You Sears) but were not ablt to fix the complete problem. They told who ever worked on that car last did not tighten the bolts and the loseness ruined the rim among other things. By the time we were able to make it home late Monday night, we were out about $700 in car repairs, $450 in extra hotel stay, and not to mention a loss of a day of work for both my mom and I. We went to Midas Tuesday afternoon to speak with the manager, Mike. He told us he would speak to the owner and get back to us before the end of the day. That evening he called to inform us his owner had been too busy to talk about it and the owner would give us a call by Wednesday. It is Thursday and we have still not received as much as a "I'm sorry to hear this happened to you". I am so completely frustrated and agered by there lack of professionalism and lack of quality work!! We trusted our car to them and this is what we get in return? They should really count there lucky stars nobody was hurt because then they would have alot more than just a bad review and being reported with the BBB. I have gone here quite a few times and finally met the owner the last time and got to know a few others. I am a female and females usually get taken advantage of because we don't know much about cars. It is a fact. Not once has this place provided me with false information or tell me I needed something I didn't need. Just because of them not taking advantage of me I would pay a few extra dollars than going somewhere cheap to save some money and hassle with people trying to sell me something I don't need. They always check out your car and let you know anything else that may need to be done and give you documentation showing everything you need to know. From what I gathered up the owner used to work for a company and went out on a limb to open up his own business. He is experienced and not all about making money. He also hires good people who provide great honest service. I mean if you look at the reviews nothing is really that bad. Obviously sometimes companies run behind. Not sure what to say about the dipstick thing, maybe the guy was talking to the wrong persona bout the wrong car. Obviously no one can be that dumb who work in that kind of profession... at least I hope not. read more
