    Valvoline Instant Oil Change

    Valvoline Instant Oil Change

My car was in need of an oil change and I had a recent disappointment at a dealership so I was…read moreseeking another outlet beside Jiffy Lube who I promised myself I would never go to again. I noticed that this new store had opened and it hadn't been there very long and so I decided that I would go in and see if I can get an oil change done. First of all of this location was built where a bank used to sit and unless you live in the town, you're not gonna know that it's there. But it's located on the corner of 27th and Iowa and its very visual. Access to the facility is very easy to get to and it is not crowded. First of all they have a sign in the front of their building that says oil change in 15 minutes. I was skeptical when I saw the sign because I've never had an oil change done that fast, but I went ahead and pulled into the line. I was immediately greeted by a blonde female and I was impressed that I was looking at her uniform and I seen all the dirt and oil on it knowing that she's working as a mechanic and making a decent salary then did my heart good to see a woman working there. She greeted me and was very friendly and told me where to park. there were five other cars ahead of me. One negative thing did happen was that they made me change lanes four times. They had me move from Lane one to lane three, then from Lane three to Lane two and then eventually made me move back to Lane one, then they made me back out so that someone in lane two could get in front of me in Lane one. I know that's a lot and and it was extremely frustrating and that's why that was an issue for me. As far as I could see there were six mechanics all working the three lanes not to mention the people who were under your car doing the oil change so they were well staffed and well-equipped. The place was clean. No trash or debris, it was spotless. They all helped each other and worked in teams of two. Most of all they were engaging. they kept talking with me. I had a guy who told me everything that I need to know. He showed me what the level in my car was, showed me the filter, everything I needed to know he informed me of . in the past, I had oil changes done and nothing was never communicated with me, until it's time to pay the bill so I did feel that this place was a step above other places in that respect. Now I do believe the oil change is a little expensive but I don't think it has to do with the company so to speak. I think it's just inflation in general. And they have to stay competitive with other businesses that do the same, so I get it. Overall I would recommend going to this Valvoline and even though they promised they can get it done in 15 minutes I was there probably 35 minutes but even that is better than sitting in a dealership waiting for hours for a simple oil change

Everyone working was super friendly and willing to answer questions. Best part to me...it was all women working! That made me feel extremely comfortable sitting in my car while they worked. My car sounds better just driving out of the lot. It was a good experience!

I asked if I needed to get it towed away while we figured out what to do with it. Twice I was told not to worry about it, that they had cars in the lot that had been there much larger than mine. I believed them. Today I got a call from a local tow company that they had my car and it'd be $600 to get it back. I called and spoke to Jordan to ask what happened and he just shrugged. No phone call, no email, no notice. Just making stuff up as they go. I totally understand wanting the car off the lot, but I don't understand misleading me then not informing me then not honoring their word. This is a totally senseless expense.

But it has been at least a couple of years since needing them. I scheduled an appointment for 12noon on 02/26 just to check a small leak coming from the read axle. Arrive 10 min early for paperwork. Sat in lobby watching 4-6 techs walk around 2 others seated in a corner of the shop visible from the lobby. None had tools in hand, 2 had hands in pockets, none seemed to be working on a vehicle. This went on for a 1/2 hour without anyone showing interest in getting my truck on a lift despite being there for now 40 minutes. There were open lifts. About 35 minutes past my appointment, 3 employees from the shop left and walked past my parked truck seemingly headed for a local food store. The sinking feeling after 40-45 minutes of absolutely "0" interest in me or my vehicle, I took my keys and left. Do not go to this place. They do not care about you even with an appointment! Huge disappointment. Never going back telling at least100 people of my experience yesterday.

At the end of her winter break, we noticed oil leaking, so to make it easier on all of us, we suggested she go to the Lawrence location, as she is going to school at KU. She took her car to the service department and was given a long list of things which needed to be repaired, some of which were oil gasket covers and spark plugs. She called my husband to call in to the service department to discuss which items would need to be fixed, none of which were shown to her or explained, but since we were out of town, we proceeded with a couple of repairs. That bill was approximately $1,000. A week after she had her car repaired, she came home, and we noticed there was still oil leaking, so we made another appointment for March 31st at 8:30 am. I drove the car from Kansas City to Lawrence and met with the service department rep. My daughter picked me up in another vehicle, and I left the facility. At approximately 12:30, I went back to check on the status of the car, and no one had taken a look at it, despite my appointment being at 8:30, and they knew I was staying in town to see what was wrong with it. I left again at that point, and about 20 minutes later, I received a call from the service department asking me to come back, so I left what I was doing to go back. At that point, he gave me a list of repairs that needed to be done totaling $3,300+, and one of them being the replacement of the oil pan, as it was cracked. I asked him questions about this and asked if this could have been what was wrong in the first place. He said he had no idea. Then I looked back at the documentation from the first time my daughter brought in the car, and it stated, "Customer says Oil Gaskets are Leaking." I can assure you no one in my family would have said that or known that would even be an issue. So I paid another bill of $190 to have someone "diagnose" the car, and I left without paying for any of the suggested repairs, as I feel as though I had been lied to and was not pleased with having to wait five hours past my appointment to have someone look at my car for the first time. I brought the car back to Kansas City and took it to our local mechanic. He did replace the oil pan, and I would bet that was why it was leaking in the first place. There is no documentation that anything was wrong with the gasket covers. No video or pictures, to my knowledge. He also informed me, when I asked about the other items on the list of suggested repairs, that we were being scammed.
