This Midas shop performed lousy work that I later discovered was not required. Let's start from the top. On February 23, 2024, I took my 2022 GMC Arcadia to this Midas location because I heard squeaking from my brakes when I applied them. I didn't think I needed replacements, but maybe some cleaning of debris. Midas "checked" my brakes and said I needed new rotors and brake pads for the front of my car. I thought this was odd due to the millage and the cat's age, but I trusted the mechanics. Midas changed my rotors, replaced my brake pads, and changed the oil in the car. Later that day, I heard more noise from the brakes, I smelled burning from my front tires, and the car had problems braking. I took my car back the next day, and Midas said the brakes they put on were the wrong pads and rotors, so they put the correct ones on. When Midas mechanics test drove, I saw my black smoke now coming from the front wheels of my car. The mechanics are looking confused. They made some adjustments and gave me back my car after spending the whole day working on it. This is now two days I'm not able to work. When I left, I noticed a louder noise from my car, and the brakes were Snelling again. I now take my car back to Midas, and they tell me they don't know why it is not working. I was distraught, and I asked them to take the car to a GMC dealership and have the dealership work on my car. The manager at Midas refuses. I asked for my money back. I wanted to take the car to my dealership because I feared trusting their work after going back and forth most of the day. He agrees to give me the money if I bring back the rotors and brakes they placed on the car. He also said he would repay half of my car rental charges once I put the car in repair at the dealership. I agreed. Now, I asked them to tow my car to my dealership, which they refused. The manager said my car was safe to drive to the other dealership. The drive to the dealership was scary. The brakes locked twice, and the car was smoking heavily from the brakes on the front of the vehicle, but through the grace of God, I made it to the dealership. The techs at the service department for Gateway GMC were puzzled at the notion the car needed new brake pads and even more puzzled at the idea of requiring new rotors. Still, they wanted to put the car on the computer to see what the sensors reported after getting the report back from their system. The car did not need new brake pads; the vehicle did not need new rotors, so Midas lied to induce me to allow them to get some work for money. I had to rent a car from Enterprise, which cost me $533.00 because GMC had to reorder all the original parts for my braking system. They also had to remove the grease placed all over the braking system, which was not correctly done. The greasing of my sensors and electrical system on my braking system, coupled with the fact that Midas had my brake pads on backward, Midas had the wrong rotors, and they somehow managed to put the brackets for the pads on backward, which were mind-boggling. The GMC techs and brakes specialist said I was lucky that the car didn't entirely catch fire; GMC was amazed my brakes didn't fail altogether before I made it to their service department. GMC said they shouldn't have allowed me to drive that car because it was dangerous for me and all the other drivers. Now, it's a week later, and I get my car back, and I'm happy it's working but upset at what I knew of Midas and what I had to pay to get it back to working order. I did get the rotors and brakes they put on my car returned to me because I want to keep my word, and I went back to Midas with the report from the dealership stating all the mistakes done on my car and the bill the Enterprise rental in hand. The manager of Midas happily took the parts back but shrugged off the notion of the problems they caused and the information in the report. My biggest disappointment was that the manager didn't honor his word to pay half of the Enterprise rental. Now, to break this down. I went to them to get work done that I didn't need. They charged me $868.14. I lost three days of work. I did get back $725.08 from Midas, but I ended up paying $941.03 to get my car fixed. I also spent $533.34 on the car rental. I ended up out of pocket 1,617.43 for a brake job I didn't need. DO NOT TRUST MIDAS TO DO ANY WORK ON YOUR CAR. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNTRUSTWORTHY. I got the worst service at the location on Airport FWY. I had two tires, one, had a screw in it and the other was a spare tire that needed air. The service technician said after a glance, "I can't fix it" and never made eye contact with me. He then took the spare tire (from a Honda Accord) and pumped it up. Then charged me $25.00 for the service. RIP OFF!!!!!!!! I'm not happy! read more

I came in for some clutch work on my '95 F-150 assuming it would be a simple replacement of some clutch cylinder parts based on my own diagnostics. I got an email the next day quoting me on a whole clutch kit and slave cylinder replacement with no explanation as to why they both had to be replaced. No questions were answered about this either. I just needed my truck fixed so I went ahead with the repairs. While everything appears to be running okay now, I got my truck back with horrible grease stains all over the interior + middle seat, assorted trash that was not mine, and a broken hood trigger lever that was perfectly fine at drop-off. I brought this up and the manager shrugged his shoulders. Said the best he could do was install the replacement part if I brought it. I even asked for very light compensation just to cover the part and wouldn't do it. Very frustrated with my experience and the way I was taken advantage of here. Also worth noting: When I arrived at the store to pay, Charles began to charge me about $100 more than I was quoted. When I asked why, he said "oh, my bad" and changed it to match the quote. Let me start off by saying that this place is the pits!!! Do not waste your money here!! I would have given no stars but you have to give 1 for the review. There were very minor issues with our brakes on our truck. We had already put brand new brakes on ourselves but we felt like something was just not right. We brought it in to be checked. We'll $325 later and the problem still exits. I told the owner that was an awful lot of money. He stated they had to replace 2 lugs and tear the brakes down. HUH?? Made no sense to me!! When my husband went to talk to the mechanic he was not very nice. They both started raising their voices. The owner came out and started yelling at my husband. My husband told the owner that right or wrong the customer is always right! Shockingly the owner agreed! As this was going on another customer was having words with another mechanic there. The customer was very upset and then they began to argue. This place is very unprofessional!!! Save your money and go somewhere else!!!! read more

Initially took my 25 foot Coachman Motorhome for an oil change and the annual inspection. We were traveling within the next 30 days, and wanted to get this routine service work completed. After the service writer looked at my motorhome, he indicated that I would also need two front tires... they were worn on the inside and he recommended a tire alignment. After looking at these as well, I agreed. I specifically asked if they had tires for this type of rig, and they indicated "without hesitation" that they would be able to handle this service along with a needed alignment. After waiting approximately 5 hours for my work to be completed, (they didn't have the proper tire machine to balance the front tires) and the tire alignment machine was NOT able to lift my motorhome, those were my first two concerns, but went ahead and paid the bill with them adjusting the total for the alignment... they took the wheels to an offsite location for the tire balancing. Because we were not traveling until last week (the week of October 23), we took the motorhome back to storage. On the week of our expected travel (Oct 21) I went to Southern Tire Mart to have the motorhome front wheels to be aligned. That is when I was told that THIS Midas store had installed "passenger tires" (actually illegal to install on my type of vehicle) and definitely NOT commercial capable tires that can handle the higher pressure and requirements of the motorhome. So obviously I reviewed these tires with the Tire Mart technician and sure enough, the tires were passenger tires not suitable for PSI of greater than 50... the front tires of my motorhome requires 65 psi. I indicated (as you can imagine) that I would need these changed changed out and I would simply return these to Midas for a refund. That's where the fun began... when I went there Monday morning (10/28/2024) after I returned from the trip, the Manager or owner was not in, and desk guy simply indicated that he would have to speak to the owner... didn't know how to de a refund (???) and he would make sure that I would receive an immediate call that day from him.... I waited ALL day to hear from him nothing. As I was surprised he wouldn't want to speak with me regarding what happened at "HIS" place of business. unfortunately, all he was wanted to do was "maybe"... provide some kind of shop credit because it had been 30 days and supposedly I would have driven this vehicle for 30 days on these tires... I attempted to tell him that we did 100% of the work for the trip we had "just" taken, and the tires didn't have any mileage on them, but he indicated that he would "AGAIN" call me back today in the morning... as I write this review at 2:30pm NO call, and I sure I won't get one... I am challenging this ridiculous charge on my Credit Card, along with also reporting to the BBB. read more

The Catalytic converter went out on my car, so I called around to get quotes on a new one and the price of installing it. I called Midas and spoke with Tony, the manager, who was very professional and empathetic to what I was going through. I decided to have my vehicle towed there. I had to wait for the manager and the head manager to return from running errands, but it wasn't a long wait, and was pleased with the service I received. read more

they do great work the first time, the second time is when they get you! first time I spent $1200 and they changed all the parts I needed fixed and I left with brand new parts on my car and genuine gmc parts I had ordered myself. Second time I came in because my car was overheating and they told me I needed a new engine and offered to take it off my hands for $300 when I went to pick up my car from them suddenly non of my signal lights worked which were working before i took it to them, and all of my dashboard lights were now on which were NOT on before I took it to them!!!! I thought it was weird they couldn't find my car key and they were all scrambling to look for my keys then they said they had locked them inside the car and I would have it come back Monday. I don't know what they did to my car but I got it back worse then I took it in and I use to go to them all the time for oil changes and small services I needed but they have lost a long time customer. I had my mechanic come to the house and check my car it just needed a new water pump! Had a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation, so I called and was told I could come right in. I'll explain in detail further down why this is the worst car maintenance experience I have ever had in my life, but here's a brief summary of the issues that followed. - Did not honor coupon price. - Did not replace the oil filter. - Did not complete the tire rotation I paid for. - Over-reported my mileage to Carfax. - Got oil & dirt all over the interior of my car (twice). When I mentioned to the manager that I had a coupon, he shook his head and said they didn't "do it for that price," and quoted me a price $15 higher. I showed him that the coupon included this location's address, he said, "Don't worry, you don't need that." Ok, whatever. When the oil change was completed 90 minutes later, the manager said they couldn't do the tire rotation because the bay was not available. He told me to call back the next day to see if I they could get me in. Fine. The final price was $3 over the price of the coupon, plus an extra charge because my car requires one more liter of oil than most cars (which I'm used to paying, no problem), plus tax. The price was fine, but it was irritating on principle. Just... why? I noticed when getting in my car that my new factory floor mat was covered in oil and dirty boot prints, and there was oil on the interior door handle and paneling. When I got home I cleaned the door panel and shampooed the floor mat. I recalled that they did not show me the new oil level, so I decided to check it, which was fine. But I noticed a familiar oil filter, which didn't match the brand they charged me for on the invoice. It had not been replaced. This is a huge trust violation for me. I called the next day, was told that they could not get me in for the tire rotation because they were short staffed and the bay was not available, and was asked to call back the next day. This same phone conversation happened three more times over the course of the week. Meanwhile, I noticed on my CarFax maintenance app that Midas had incorrectly reported my mileage, over by 3,000 miles. Seemed like an honest mistake as they probably just entered the "next service due mileage" instead of current mileage. But I knew that would be a headache to get corrected. I called the following Tuesday (one week since getting the oil change) and they were still not able to get me in for the tire rotation. I asked for the manager to call me whenever he had an opening, which he said he would do. No phone call by Saturday, so I called again and was told I could finally bring it in. When I arrived, I shared the mileage issue with the manager, which he confirmed was a simple mistake. He corrected it and provided a new invoice. I asked what brand of oil filters they used, and he confirmed that it was the brand on the invoice. I told him they apparently had not changed it because the filter from the last oil change (different brand) was still on the car. To his credit, after examining the car, he confirmed that they had not changed the filter and had them do so. No explanation or apology or concern expressed, but whatever. Then he told me... with a straight face... that they had not done the tire rotation because the car didn't need it. I told him that it had been 7500 miles since the last rotation, which is the interval at which my car's maintenance schedule suggests, and tire warranty requires, the tires be rotated. He said I only needed to rotate the tires every other oil change, noted that "the good tires are on the back," and said they didn't need to be rotated until 10-12k miles. I could not believe we were having this conversation. I simply didn't have any fight left in me, so I just left. I arrived home furious, cleaned my interior and shampooed the floor mat AGAIN because it was filthy AGAIN, and began the painstaking process of getting CarFax to correct my mileage. Had them fix the hatch door on my Santa Fe that I think was broken by my giant dog - they got the parts almost immediately and, after comparing prices, did it for less than anyone else could. They were honest about what the problem was and fixed it. Incompetent & unprofessional service... In the past, I had taken 2 vehicles for servicing at this location. I was satisfied with the service they provided and had no issues involved with the repairs. My, how times have changed... Immediately upon entering the shop, the individual named Benacio began verbally berating me, barking that I needed to move my car out of the way. I dutifully obeyed, but apparently this wasn't good enough either. He proceeded to excoriate me a 2nd time, again repeating that my car was still "In the way"-even though, as I readily observed, there was neither incoming or outgoing traffic, whatsoever- ridiculous!! After re parking , I re entered the shop.Benacio informed me that he griped out my tow truck operator as well..-you guessed it, the car I was dropping off was also " in the way", as he put it. He then insultingly added that I could: "Tow the vehicle someplace else, instead, I don't care." At any rate, it isn't the customer's fault, that there is an inadequate parking situation at your place of business. If there is, then maybe you should consider relocating the business elsewhere, instead. After enduring this spectacle, I filled out the work order form, which specified the problems associated with my car, identified as: suspension problem, new oil dipstick, leaking exhaust. Around 2 weeks, I phoned the office. The lady I spoke with assured me the necessary repairs were being done, including the leak in the exhaust. Near the 3rd week, I was notified my car was ready for pick up. Arriving at Midas, the manager proceeded to inform me there was another issue involved with my car, i.e.-(backfiring & erratic idling), that they were unable to fix. He then suggested that I needed to take the car to a specialty shop, instead. Disappointed, I paid $1,000 for the bill & attempted to leave. However, when I tried to start the car, the battery was dead. Additionally, I noticed the oil dipstick tube had not been installed. What's next? I asked myself... I needed to leave for work shortly thereafter, so I had the car towed home. In the driveway, I decided to inspect the work Midas had done. I was shocked to discover that the exhaust leak had in fact, not been fixed at all... Referring to Midas's own website, it states: Engine rattling & misfiring-(which is exactly what my car was doing, by the way), as a blatantly obvious indication, that something was wrong. Judging by the extensive amount of complaints that have been filed against this place, there appears to be little to no oversight of either the employees, or the services/repairs being done. I don't know yet how much damage has been done to my car's engine. But, you can bet it won't be cheap to fix. So if you're looking for a shop with customer last service, bring your car here. read more

He said go inside and the manager would be with me in 10 minutes to check me in. 30 minutes passed so I went outside and asked how much longer to be checked in, and he said "Maybe 20 minutes. Maybe 30. Who knows?" So I left. I was there for 30 minutes without even being checked in for my appointment because apparently only the manager can do it and they weren't around. My tire pressure was low, so I decided to find the closest place around me to get it pumped. After reading some of the bad reviews, I still decided to come here just to get my tire pumped. I was also planning on getting an oil change here if they were not busy. As I pulled up, a polite gentleman pointed near some empty car spaces I'm guessing for me park. I parked and walked inside the shop where I asked the gentleman if they were busy right now because I just needed to get my tire pumped. He told me to park my car near one of the garage entrances. I walked to my car, reversed, and as I was approaching the garage entrance, another man said some pretty rude comments towards me. (The gentleman who I originally spoke with was not there at first but was proceeding to walk towards my car to help me) I was so confused as to why this man was being rude to me. He was an employee as he was wearing a "Midas" uniform. The kind gentleman proceeded to pump my tire and let me know that one of my tires was wearing out and I needed a new one. He was very polite and knew how to speak with customers. I kindly declined, letting him know that I would purchase my new tire elsewhere because I felt extremely uncomfortable with the encounter with the rude employee. I did not want to be in an environment where I could potentially start arguing with the rude employee, especially when the establishment is off the side of the service road with no one around. From reading the reviews, the bad reviews may be referring to this specific employee. He should not be working here. I felt extremely uncomfortable. I'm not sure why he would want to pick a fight with me. I would much rather take my business elsewhere. There are many OTHER tire/auto repair shops in Irving. I would suggest going there. They are much nicer and know how to treat a customer. read more

My truck had the catalytic converters stolen in 12/2021 and our insurance company arranged for Midas in Irving to make the necessary repairs. We were first told that they would use new parts, but were told once it was being repaired that they were in fact refurbished. When I went to pick up my vehicle they were having issues with it leaking exhaust but finally said it was ready to go. 5 months later it started leaking exhaust and making a loud noise. Took it to another repair shop and they said that the work done was not professional. It has welding issues and was missing a gasket. I wouldn't recommend this type of repair at this shop or really any other Midas facility due to comments from our insurance provider indicating that they've had many complaints about the work done at many Midas providers. read more

Decided to go and try Midas today. When I pull up there are two cars exiting the garage. I park and ask one of the employees if I can get an oil change and he points towards the garage so I pull my car forward. An older gentlemen looks at me weird and asks the guy whom I talked to "Who's this guy?" Followed by rudely telling me I can't pull in the car myself. Understandable and useful information but very rude. I left because I don't tolerate that behavior when I am a paying customer. read more

Went to Midas today for an oil change and got my breaks checked out. While the service was friendly and prompt, I found the prices to be more expensive than competitors. For two rear brake rotors and pads, it cost $300 with a warranty on previous brake pads, and a $20 off coupon. Other competitors without those perks quoted me between $250 -$270. I actually asked the guy about it, and he said the other people probably used "cheap Japanese parts." While it might be true, it's just hard to say. After being the first one there on a Tuesday morning, an oil change and replacement of the rotors took 3 hours. It seems like a while, but I have waited longer at other places for less work done, so I was pretty satisfied with the time. Let's hope the brakes are worth the price! read more

First rate service and honesty, a rare combo in this business. Went in to have brakes replaced front and rear and was told by manager that rear brakes were still in good enough shape that they still had another 60,000-80,000 miles left on them, also said front brakes still looked okay, but I opted to have front brakes replaced anyway since they are the original factory brakes that came with truck when I bought it 6 years ago. A lot of brake shops would have gone ahead and sold the rear brakes and pocketed the additional $200 even though they didn't require replacement yet. Highly recommend this store, even though the 183 construction makes getting there a challenge. It's worth the effort read more

If I could give fewer than one star, I would. I visited this location for a state inspection, he pulled the car in and came back saying that it wouldn't pass emissions because of the computer finding some codes. I mentioned that the engine light hadn't been on and he said, "Well, it is now!". The work that needed to be done was more than I was prepared to pay that day so I told him I would bring it back. After calling around, I found a place that was going to charge much less for the work. I took it in along with the report from Midas, their mechanic came back and said their computer didn't find any issue, the car ran fine and he was able to pass the inspection with no issues!!! Midas tried to rip me off for nearly $500!!! When I went back to Midas, they refused to give me my $$ back! DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

I used to take my vehicles to a Midas when I lived in Fort Worth. Well, I've since moved and changed jobs. I found this Midas one day when I was looking for a place to change my oil. Yes, it is a Midas and not a generic oil change place. So no, they will not be as fast because many of the vehicles ahead of you probably have some type of more time consuming repair other than just your basic oil change. Since then, I have taken my vehicles in for any and every issue that I've had. I've had rotors machined and break pad's replaced.. I've had issues with a fuel line.. shock issues.. alignment issues.. a timing belt changed. They are tremendous. I never feel like I've been overcharged. And yes, the wait might be longer but again, you're not dealing with an oil change place that only deals with oil changes. I completely trust the people that work at this location. And in reality, there's not much that's more important. I trust that I will receive a fair price for a job well done. And to this date, I have always received a fair price and a job well done. Now, I'm hoping I can get a call from Midas telling me that my vehicle is ready. I'm ready to go to lunch. read more

Took my truck to Midas to fix my trucks alignment and gearbox. Charles was very helpful in diagnosing my problems and he went out of his way to search for a better price on a part for me. They repaired my truck same day within about 4 hours. I highly recommend this particular Midas location and if you go there ask for Charles. read more

Engine pressure light came on and I check and find basically zero oil in engine. Ugh, not good. Took my car in this morning. 20 minutes later guy comes back and says "Leaky gasket. I had my exhaust repaired there two weeks ago because my wife had hit something in the road and broken a weld. I went to go get my car safety and emissions inspection done and it failed the emissions part of the inspection. I took it back toMidas thinking I would need a new catalytic converter. The manager asked me if I had the emissions report. I showed it to him. He said the O2 sensor was dirty. The catalytic converter was fine. He told me to go get a can of SEAFOAM and put it in the tank and drive for an hour to clean the O2 sensor. My car passed the inspection after that.
