You are going to get scammed going here. took my car in for a emissions test nothing wrong with the car no lights on the dash. after the emissions test there was a check engine light on (Failed test), they tried to charge me 180$ for a diagnostic test I declined. by the time I got home the light went off. The very next day I took the car to a different place and what do you know it passed the test. moral of the story they are purposely unplugging sensors so the car throws a code and they can charge you for a diagnostic test and a new sensor. read more

I was tired of getting ridiculous quotes from my dealership for routine maintenance. $145 for an oil change, $1500 for brakes, $65 for a filter that costs $15, it's ridiculous. I went in for brakes and rotors and an oil change. The technicians were nice and showed me how bad my tires were so I also had to get two tires. A couple of days later I noticed my oil light coming on again so check my oil and it's completely empty. Either they didn't plug it or they didn't fill it! read more

This is the best place for oil changes! Great customer service. They found a missing (rusted off) hanger for the exhaust system which I was shown. They repaired it quickly. They always discuss any trouble areas they discover during the overall check they perform during the oil change. They are fantastic! I brought my 2009 Ford Taurus in for an oil change and asked them to check my exhaust system, as well, because I noticed the car had gotten louder when accelerating. They put it up on the lift and invited me to look.______ They showed me some small holes in the muffler. It needed replacement. They also showed me the resonator just aft of the catalytic converter. Its rolled metal edge looked like it was beginning to separate in one spot about 3 or 4 inches long. I was told this was also in need of replacement______ Because my exhaust is one solid piece from the catalytic all the way to the muffler, I was told it ALL should be replaced for the tidy sum of about $950! They ordered the parts. In the meantime I had 2 other shops, including a Ford dealer, evaluate my exhaust. Both told me only the muffler needed replacement for just over $400 - less than half Midas's quote!______ I've been bamboozled enough in my life to know better than to believe the first quote. That served me well in this case with the Groton Midas shop. I will have my exhaust work, and all future work, done elsewhere. read more

this week took my truck in for a great oil change, best oil and high mileage and had the wifes car looked at and found leak in the antifreeze hose where three came in together. they ordered the new parts and fixed the leak and problem and filled the antifreeze with european that the car take.... great job, great price and great people... I brought my car into Midas in Groton for front end alignment and oil change. The front desk service ladies were excellent but the service techs is who I had an issue with. After my alignment was done I was asked by the tech if I heard any noises when I break hard. My reply was that I do not break hard and have not heard any noises or felt and vibration or pulling while driving. I was told I need lower control arms on my car and was quoted $778. I was also told that I would need to then redo front end alignment. Since I was skeptical with no sounds, I brought my car into dealership for full diagnostic check. Tires were removed and a full inspection was done. They did not see any issues with lower control arms. Saddens me that there are trying to take advantage of others. Should we not all try to help each other during this pandemic and be nice. Wonder how they would feel if someone tried to take advantage of their mothers. read more

This place is only great for emission checks and oil changes. I was driving and my battery light came on so I went straight to Midas. It took them 2 hours to realize that my timing belt was missing. After another two hours and $900 later they said I was ready to hit the road. I drive 10 miles and the belt flew off! I drove straight back to Midas and they said oh the bracket broke... hmmm. They order the bracket and can you believe it when they installed it... they broke a volt! 2 days later my car was finally ready. And guess what! 2 days later I drove my car 4 miles to work and my belt flew off! I called for a refund and they denied it and didn't even apologize! Don't say you can fix anything car related if you are only capable of doing an oil change! Ridiculous! read more

On my way home from Rhode Island on Monday, 08/16/2021, I got an alert on my dashboard telling me that my battery was no longer being charged. I was able to stop by an auto parts store and they tested my battery and alternator. They told me that my alternator wasn't charging. I took my car to Midas and they were able to take me in more quickly than the nearest dealership. They also figured out that it wasn't my alternator. My alternator was fine. It was a faulty drive belt tensioner that got loose and the belt was no longer turning the alternator. I count myself lucky enough to stumble upon an honest mechanic shop when in a bind. Rip off artists. Tried to sell me a $200 dollar brake job for $585, and told that was a discount. The floor manager tried to convince me that my the rotors on my vehicle "we're designed so that they couldn't be milled down they had to be replaced." Little did he know I knew way better. This was the 3rd estimate I got including one from the dealer. They handed me a an estimate which included all the measurements on every brake pad and rotor on my car. I sat there and watched the guy only remove 2 tires and never measured only looked. While I was in there a lady came into have her car looked at. They told her that her serpentine belt was about to break and quoted her $257 dollars!!!!! Crazy. You can go to any Valvoline or Firestone and the will do ANY serpentine belt for $69.99. As already stated by others - rip off artists. Got my emissions done there, told me that I had a code for the O2 sensor - which wasn't the problem. They then quoted me $1500 for a catalytic converter and O2 sensor replacement after running diagnostics, which cost another $65. I smelled what they were stepping in though, so I called the local Subaru dealership - you know, the place that always charges "too much," and found out that parts and labor for the job (assuming worst case scenario) was roughly $1050. When I went in to get my car back from Midas before they charged me for something else, the floor manager said he could do it for what Subaru was offering... So basically he admitted to trying to rip me off. Not to mention, when I got (very politely - no swearing or yelling or personal anything) mad about what they were doing, the front desk person walked out mumbling under their breath about "not being able to handle it." Basically, if you know anything about cars, you probably stay away from them already, but if you don't, I'm just letting you know that they're trying to rip you off. My wife had gotten a flat tire during the day and when I got out of work I called midas to get a quote for the tire. They provided a quick quote and had plenty of tires in Stock for my car. After calling around to a couple of other places. Midas still beat every price I was given. I walked in around an hour and ten minutes before they closed. Was greeted by the friendliest staff one could ask for. And they explained everything to me with all the questions I had promptly. They also put info on the bill for me in relations to the tire so I can use a road hazard protection Warrenty I had on the tire previously. On top if that they had my tire put on the rim before I could get my family out of the car! Very quick service and I am not disappointed one bit. I would recommend this place to anyone that needed any service. And I will stand by that 100%! I don't think I need to say that the service from these guys was beyond 5 star quality. read more

I decided to try Midas for the first time in January for just an oil change. Two weeks later my engine was making a horrible noise. I took it to two different shops and both of them said my car was low on oil and you could hear my timing chains going. Two separate mechanics said whoever did my oil change did not put the plug back in properly and my car was leaking oil. I called Midas and told them what happened. Tim the manager said to bring my car in and they have insurance if they did something wrong. After looking at my car, Tim called me and told me he did another oil change on my car, my oil filter weighed over 2 pounds full of oil and it was a faulty filter. He claims there is no damage to my timing chains now. Then he informs me that my power steering is leaking and it's $900 to fix that. I am picking my car up in a few hours when they open. Tim even quoted me a price INCLUDING the oil change! He was going to actually charge me for another oil change! Also, two mechanics looked at my car and said there was no power steering fluid leaking. Something is not right here. I'm getting my car out of there at 7:30am this morning! I am bringing my car to the Nissan dealership immediately. If they do. It find this leak, or there is damage to my engine from this experience, I will see Midas in court. read more

We had what we thought was a large nail in our front left tire--- So we took it in and were immediately satisfied. It had only been a tiny screw that didn't puncture all the way through. The minimum for patching a tire was over $20 but the lady said it was small and no big deal-- she let us go without having to pay a dime! Very good service ;) read more

Went in for a courtesy check before a 300+ mile trip the next day which i informed the mechanic working on my car about. The mechanics told me that all my fluids were good and that the only thing that needed to be changed were my rear brakes. I asked them to change my rear brakes and they did however they did not retorque back down my tire correctly so my tire came off while i was driving. I do not recommend these people for working on your car. They endangered my life knowing that i had a road trip the next day and on top of that i now have to spend more money fixing the problem that these so called mechanics worked on.
