Dishonest. I requested a tire rotation and was told it was completed at time of check out. I tested the tread and can tell that midas did not rotate them. On 7/10/24 my wife went to Midas in Grapevine TX for an oil change and tire rotation. Two week later on 7/26/24 one of her wheels lost 4 lug nuts and the 5th barely hanging on (They must of never tightened the rear right wheel). The car suddenly started violently shaking on the interstate with my 3 year old daughter and 5 year old son in the car. They could have all crashed and died on the busy DFW interstate. I've always had a good experience at Midas of Grapevine, both before and after the 2020 managerial change. The staff are friendly and do quality work. They even check in via text at regular intervals after major repairs, to make sure your car is still running as it should. I recently had an oil leak that my local shop somehow couldn't figure out, and Midas finally took care of it. They requested that I bring my car back after a day or two to make sure they had completely addressed the issue, at which time they discovered that they'd made a mistake, admitted it, agreed that was the reason for the burning smell when my car was running, apologized, and fixed it at no additional charge. They told me at that time that my timing belt was cracked and advised me to have it serviced soon, without pushing for it on the spot. Since that lined up with my maintenance notes, I scheduled the repair for later that week. At that time, they checked for oil leaks again just to make triple-sure, without my having to ask for it. This is the kind of due diligence anyone can appreciate. The quote for the timing-belt replacement was significantly higher than what I'd been told initially (I'd forgotten to ask for it in writing), but the manager (Pam) offered various discounts, and to not charge for parts they already had in-store, which brought the final quote very close to what I'd been told the first time. This is something I had experienced even before the change in management: whenever I'd been hesitant over the cost of certain repairs, the previous manager (Nathan?) had offered to pay for certain parts himself to bring the cost down. Among other positives is their loaner car, which is a huge help given that they often keep your car for 2 days. I don't drive very far on a daily basis, but being stuck at home (sometimes for more than a week) every time I dropped my car off at my local shop, was a major inconvenience. However, like most big-chain shops, they do mark up parts noticeably, and I find that they do charge a lot for labor, which is why I don't give them 5 stars. But overall, I was very happy with the service I received from this Midas location. If I still lived in Grapevine, I would definitely change from my local shop back to Midas for maintenance on my car. I recommend them wholeheartedly. read more

Had them replace a catalytic converter that was stolen off my son's vehicle. The one they put on was defective. Brought back to them 3x. First time they said it was loose bolts so they tightened and said all was good. Still hearing a loud noise when driving so we brought it back a second time and Kevin was absolutely rude telling my wife and told her in a condescending tone that there's nothing wrong with the catalytic converter. A few months later and still sounds horrible, I brought it back. Spoke to Kevin again. He said he would call me and let me know what's going on. Never called so I called back 2 days later and he acted like he knew nothing about it. Handed me off to Pam who told me a replacement would be in on 1/2. Again no phone call so I called again and Kevin said it would be in on Thursday 1/4. Again no call. Called Friday 1/5 and he just transfers me to Pam who said the part is in and to bring it in on Tuesday. Brought it in Tuesday 1/8 thinking they would get it done quickly and again no call. Had to call right before closing and was told by Pam they were "working on it". Finally got it back at 6:30. Told my son they did him a favor not charging him $200. What a joke. This place is unprofessional and horrible with communication. I do not recommend this place at all because of poor customer svc and lack of communication read more

Had my vehicle towed here due to the fact they were close and I "thought" Midas was a reputable company. I asked them to give me an estimate for a radiator that had been damaged from some road debris. After approximately one hour, I get a call from the store manager who starts out telling me I need new tires and brakes(not what I asked to be looked at) and a host of other things that weren't what I requested. I had a large obvious hole in bumper and radiator which would seem like a priority. And I explained it was the priority. After being quoted an astronomical amount, I informed her that I needed to speak with my husband and I would call them back. Spoke with him and called back to inform them not to do the work. I was told that they had the parts there and had started the unauthorized work. I informed them I didn't want work done and that I would have vehicle towed. I arrange to have it towed to my home and called to let them know that someone would be in for the keys. At this time I was informed that I needed to pay $180 for the work that had been done. I never authorized work so how am I being charged? After wrangling back and forth, they agree to release my vehicle. But the condition I received it in is worst than when I left it with them. I was at Petco In grapevine. I had run over a parking space barrier. The engine splashguard was dragging on the ground. When I inquired if Petco had duct tape, she he said go across the street to Midas. Highly recommended, so I figured why not. The manager put my car on the lift. 10 minutes later he told me I was good to go. They put zip ties and on as a temporary workaround. I was extremely thrilled with feeling safer. And the part is that the best; no charge as it was an easy fix. In a word full of negativity, this shop will now get my business and I want to pay it forward. I went to this location to get my car fixed, I got there around 12:30 the lady told me it would get like an hour or two to replace the part; I had to wait in their waiting area, two hours later the lady told me that the person who delivers the parts locked their keys inside their car and my car wasn't ready yet and they were on their way. I decided to go eat and come back and the part was not deliver still, at this point it's been almost 4 hours; the bald technician tried to blame it on me saying that I gave the wrong info to the lady and that was the reason why of the delay. Took my car in for a brake job. The car needed new rotors and brake pads. My appointment was 1230 on Monday. The car wasn't even taken into the bay until 5pm that day and then they realize on Tuesday morning they ordered the wrong rotor size which delayed them another 5 hours. 6pm rolls around that Tuesday night and they finally got all the parts they say and then they realize they ordered the wrong brake pads. So another day is going by with no vehicle for me. 3 days for a simple brake job is insane. I'm no mechanic but if my car wasn't on a lift with no wheels right now I would go ahead and just take it and go somewhere else to get a brake job. read more

On 9 May 2016, I had my car taken in for an oil change at Midas. As part of Midas's promise, it claimed to have completed a visual inspection "of all the major systems" of the car, including checking "fluid levels" in the car. Despite all of this purported checking and inspecting, Midas did not top off or recommend changing the car's coolant and did not remark in any way that the car was in any type of poor, substandard, or unsuitable condition. But less than two hours after the car was released by Midas, the car overheated and essentially collapsed. Midas then towed the car in for $200 for further inspection and--at that point--claimed that the car had significant "sludge" and showed a "lack of maintenance or abuse." Midas provided an estimate of approximately $8700 to repair the car. An independent inspection of the car cost me $1375 by Mini of Dallas, and shows that the problem was, in fact, the lack of coolant. The Mini dealership has provided a repair estimate for $16,000. I've tried working with Midas over the past few months, asking only that they get the car back on the road in the condition it was in before they did the oil change, but they're refusing to take responsibility and do the right thing. UPDATED 19 November 2016: It has now been 30 days since I provided my phone number by private message, as requested by Midas. I have yet to receive a single phone call or voicemail from Midas. read more

I just recently brought my car in to replace the thermostat, and after a few weeks after having that done, I heard boiling in my coolant tank. I just went to check what was going on and found it completely empty. I assumed that was due to the fact it was dispersed throughout, so I let my car cool down for a few hours. But no, it was completely empty. I understand that the coolant can leak out, but it should have either been topped off, or I should have been made aware of the low levels. if They hadn't emptied it, they should've taken the step to remove any air bubbles that might be in the system to avoid blowing my engine. Car was given back making a noise that it didn't make before bringing it to this Midas location. When I came back and spoke to Vince about it to try to explain it and show him the noise. He first acted as if he didn't know what i was talking about. At first he was reluctant to drive the car. But when he finally did he drove my car very aggressively with me in the car. I asked him politely to not drive it so aggressively so can hear the noise. And that somehow offended him and he got real defensive and just stop the car and started screaming at me insulting me. Acting as if he was going to hit me. He even said multiple times that if he wasn't on the clock he would knock my teeth out my mouth while cursing and insulting me and my car. There was even a point where he flipped my hat off of my head. All because I asked him politely to slow down so he could hear the noise that I was speaking of. I felt like in danger. I need there to be some type of repercussion the way Vince from the grapevine location treated me. In addition there was an off duty officer there that saw everything. read more

Tony's went to change the oil, and Midas who did the last oil change, tightened the oil filter so tight, it had to be chiseled off. Well, my review is opposite of LIsa's (thinking she should have gone right back to Midas before doing work at another shop) as David the manager here is taking good care of us. Like a good doctor, dentist and lawyer, a good auto shop is not always easy to find. David is straight up -- very fair pricing and he explains things in plain English. Have had a fair amount of work done on our 3 vehicles and always comes in lower on price than what others have quoted -- in fact he's done some small jobs for free (fixing stuck fuel gate) and doesn't charge labor for things like air filter changes. read more

Never ever would I bring my car back, they caused more damage to my vehicle by inexperienced mechanics and all of this was confirmed by another Midas shop as my tire was coming off the car and I had to make a emergency stop along the way. They also caused actual damage to the vehicle while it was in the shop and tried to cover it up! Stay far far far away from this Midas for ANY type of automobile servicing needs. We had a brake job done in August of 2010, pads,rotors and hydraulic system. Two days ago my brakes started grinding again so took it to another automotive repair place and had to have the brake pads done again after only 18 months. My vehicle is driven only around Grapevine and has a had a very limited amount of miles put on in the past 18 months. When I called Midas to see if this is the life expectancy of their brake pads I was told that "everything I sell has a lifetime warranty". I asked this person how were we to know that, as it says NOTHING on any of the paperwork we received about a lifetime warranty but IT DOES SAY we had a 90 day warranty. I will NEVER come back. Almost every time I take my car in there's some end of horrible service. The most recent time I took my car in for an oil change. I was told that my tire rod was about to completely pop off and that I should replace it immediately. I told them I would replace it on a later date. Come to find out after taking it to the dealership, whom I bought the vehicle from, my tire rod was COMPLETELY FINE. It did not need to be replaced. The representative at Midas in grapevine completely lied to me. I understand stretching things a bit, but to completely false diagnose my car to get me to spend money is unethical and highly unprofessional. I don't trust these people. Not to mention my friends experience with Midas was also horrible. They failed to properly replace a bolt when changing the oil on her car, and her axel dropped while she was driving. I have been going here for years. I originally ended up here with an ac issue and was in dire straights. They could have gouged me but they were fair. I take my wife's and my daughter's cars here as well. I drive by many other auto repair shops to get to this place. They have always been fair and honest. A few times fixed a little thing and didn't charge me. I have bought tires from them, had my oil changed, had my AC fixed, had my brakes done. All were done well and in a timely fashion. Good experience yesterday with my daughter's truck. They were visiting in town and were ready to head back to Houston when we noticed a coolant leak. We quickly called the local Ford stealership but they were unable to make an appointment. Since we've had good experience at the Midas in San Antonio, we decided to call the Midas in Grapevine. Vince was able to squeeze us in and had the truck fixed (parts included) within 3 hours. Kept us informed thru the day. I have been to this location twice and had my oil changed 0 times. The first time I went on a weekday in the middle of the day (3pm on a Thursday) there was nobody in the waiting room and 1 or 2 cars in the bay. They quoted me a wait of 1.5-2 hours and I had to get to another appointment at 5, so I made an appointment for Friday at 2:30. I showed up for my appointment and they told me they were 1.5-2 hours behind. Seriously?! I was not in the mood to spend 2 hours of my Friday afternoon in the waiting room of Midas, especially after making an appointment to avoid waiting. I took my business next door to Firestone without an appointment and got out in and out in an hour for the same price as Midas's coupon price for full synthetic (the Firestone cashier applied their coupon without me even asking).
