Than goodness the guys checked because I drive over an hour to work and getting stuck is not in my schedule!! The Danbury location is convenient and clean. Ordered a cat back exhaust, it was way to cold for me to install myself. Had a random day off and gave these guys a call. They said bring it right over. Typical scam/ripoff car service with a typical beady-eyed unctuous middle-aged manager. Came in for the oil change "special" and was told to my chagrin and great suspicion that my car didn't take "regular" oil and I'd have to pay 79.99 for the oil change for the stuff perfect for my particular vehicle. I drive a 2012 Honda and gimme a break, I've gotten oil changes at both Firestone and Honda for under $30. I was desperate and out of time and options; at that point it was worth it to me just to pay and get the oil change. When I got the car back an hour later not ONLY was I charged for an extra 1.8 quarts of oil (I was "running low," he said, and they "filled it up completely"), but I got a list of emergency services that should be performed ASAP so that my car wouldn't explode on me, or something. He did give me a begrudging $10 discount (because of the special they were supposedly running), but good lord, stay away from this dinky place, especially if you're female and don't know much about cars. read more

Wheel bearing and hub replaced for over $800??? They charged over $520 just for the bearing and hub assembly. Could have gotten the genuine Toyota bearing and hub assembly for less than $360. Manager of the store said prices are set by Midas. I guess it is time to look for a new repair shop. read more

i had my mercedes in for regular service. mike, service manager, told me what was needed and he went ahead and did the work. when it was ready i picked it up and it ran like new. i am very happy with the service. a couple of days later, my wife was concerned about a possible rear brake problem with her car. mike took it in and shortly after, he called me and said both front brakes and rear brakes were in perfect condition and no service was required. he then said there would be no service fee for the brake inspection. a wonderful service experience for both me and my wife!!! read more

My car was very noisie because my exhaust pipes deteriorated from rust. Everyone told me i needed new exhaust pipes and catalytic converter because the hardware was too rusty to remove. Midas of Danbury was able replace all the damaged piping without a new catalytic convert which saved me 800 bucks. Everyone was friendly and they even followed up with a call 2 weeks later to make sure everything was ok. I will definitely be bring my car back to Midas. read more

They are thorough and work to repair the car efficiently and in good stead without cutting corners. Once again, I was at Midas for an oil change on my 2005 Subaru that has 150,000 miles on it. I have never had any work done at any other shop because Midas is one of the few remaining honest repair places and they can take care of just about anything. Their work is stellar and the prices affordable. They offer convenient hours and the waiting area is spotless. Coffee is free and they even have a candy dish. You can read, play on your phone or watch tv all the while knowing that your car is being well taken care of. I would never go anywhere else. read more

I have been bringing my SUV to this Midas since 2011. I can't say enough nice things about everyone who works there from Mike the manager all the way through to the techs. I really appreciate having Dawn at the front desk because she takes time to explain any recommendations they have for repairs to my car and I never feel like I'm being told to make repairs that aren't necessary. People are often worried that going to a mechanic is like going to the dentist - you have no idea if they're telling you the truth about what you need to have done because usually we can't see it. Car trouble is never fun. I had a issue with my power steering, I was expecting a "up-sell" for something unnecessary. I was totally surprised that the team here was very honest and taught me what the problem was. The mechanic Sean brought me into the shop and showed the loose wire. I went to Midas to get a quote for my brake pads and rotors. They quoted me almost $1,000 for new brake pads for each tire and new rotors! My car is a Honda Accord and is almost 18 years old with 187,000 miles on it. It's barely worth $1,000. My fiancé and I bought the parts ourself for $237 and he changed the brake pads and rotors himself. If parts were around $250 then Midas was charging me around $750 for about one hour of labor! What a rip off. Don't go here to get your brakes done. read more

On my way to work, my car broke down about a block from the Danbury Connecticut Midas shop located on Main Street. So, I headed to work and I had the car towed to Midas. Mike, the manager, called me at the office and told me I had a faulty fuel pump. I had Midas replace it. It was replaced the same day. Great! A few days later I went to get gas and the gas poured out from under the car. The next day, I returned the car to Midas and they repaired the problem the same day. This time they used the BMW original gasket. Great! I went to the gas station that night and gas poured out from under the car. We're talking about flooding the station with gas. Not just a trickle. The next day I returned the car to Midas and Mike promised they would test the tank for leaks before returning it to me. When I picked up the car Mike, the manager, told me that they had used a special resin to make the seal. (Concerned, I asked and was assured they had not just used silicon. It turned out that it was silicon.) I went for gas a few days later - no leaks. Great! About a week later, I was on my way to work and as I was approaching the Midas shop the engine shut down. I steered the car into the Midas driveway and left it. I got the car back that day. I was told that it was a faulty fuel relay switch and they repaired it at no charge. Great! That Saturday, I headed South on the New Jersey Turnpike with my 14 year old son to visit family. Around exit 12 (about 100 miles from home) the engine shut down and I had to have the car towed to a Pep Boys. (Pep boys was right off the exit and the only place open the day before Easter.)The next day Pep Boys called me, I had a bad fuel pump, there was silicon around the gasket, and the electrical harness to the fuel pump had been cut and repaired with electrical tape. (PLEASE SEE MY "YELP" COMMENTS ON THE NEW JERSEY CARTERET PEP BOYS FOR THAT FIASCO.) I borrowed my nephew's truck and returned to Connecticut. I stopped in at Midas, the next day, to tell Mike what had happened and that I expected Midas to reimburse me for the new repair and the towing cost. Mike told me that he had to call Pep Boys and that he wanted to see the faulty fuel pump. A week later, when I was able to pick up my repaired car, I brought the failed fuel pump and copies of my bills into Mike. He told me he had to send the pump to Midas for testing and I would hear back from them in about a week. My expectations are very low. Tomorrow, Friday, May 9th will be a week. Check back to learn the outcome. Needless to say, I will never go back to Midas. You can make your own decisions/mistakes. read more

I have brought my van here twice. The first time, I had brake pads replaced. The second time I also needed brake pads replaced, and Midas stands by their lifetime pad replacement guarantee. Dawn is great with customer service. Literally brings customers out back to see the problem first hand, rather than just explaining to them what is wrong. Of course, there are other recommendations that the mechanics have, but both times I have NEVER been pressured into buying anything. The other recommendations were based on manufacturer recommendations. I must reiterate, there is no pressure to spend extra money here. Whatever the customer wants is what they do.
