While driving through SC from NY, I stopped here for an oil change. The staff was 100% extra-friendly, which was great. I had purchased a Groupon, so my oil change was cheaper than I have paid in more than a decade. The only issue was that the oil change took almost 2 hours, even with a reservation. Free coffee or something would be nice, but it is what it is, especially when I consider how affordable their prices are. Wouldn't recommend going here. Took my vehicle in for an oil change and they drained the transmission fluid instead and ruined my transmission. Thankfully they have insurance that paid for it. Hard to believe something so simple could be screwed up so badly. Do not believe it when they say they "want to help" in response to this review. Staff was very rude and seemed very slow to understand the questions we were asking such as height clearance. Then he had to keep going back to check so I took 10 minutes to get a "we could try but it might damage the drain pipe when we lift it". It would be one thing to be ignorant but they seemed to be bothered with us asking very simple to questions.... Waste of our time. What a circus! Went in to get an alignment. Quoted 160 for three years of alignments. Cool. Get a call an hour or two later, saying I need to replace the wheel bearing on one side. Another 500 dollars. Get another call two hours later saying they couldn't get it out and I'd need to buy a new control arm. Not cool but I had to do this to get my car back. Total is now over 1000 and I'm without my car for the weekend. Get a call Monday, saying they were able to get the new bearing into the controller arm. Cool I thought. Tuesday comes around and I come in, no alignment was ever done due to the tie rods being "seized" Fixing these would be another 300 bucks. I have no clue why they didn't try doing this first. So, now I'm paying for 720, for services parts I'm not positive I needed, and NO ALIGNMENT. Somehow, they then dropped the price 80 bucks which was cool, but my sketch-o-meter was going off the charts. This place screams of a clip joint, I won't do anything here again. There was zero communications skills from the staff there and not a single person apologized for the wait. Nathan and Michael are the best! I had a tire that kept losing air but there was nothing wrong with it. Then my driver side window fell off the track. They found a crack on the tire stem that saved me a good deal of money and asked me to come back the next day when the tech had time to repair the motor for the window. All in all the savings and the professionalism has made me a return, repeat customer for as long as I'm in Charleston. I wish I'd been smart enough to get the actual techs names too because they're the real MVPs. Having these minor issues fixed on an older vehicle that's paid for keeps me away from a car note. I came in with a bad break line on a 2006 Silverado 6.0. Orien explained everything that was needed to get me back in the road saftey. He helped me with deals and making decisions on what all was needed and what wasn't necessary. I believe this may be the best shop I have ever taken a vehicle to. Everyone was nice and quick to help but they don't know what they're doing. I got my oil changed here on my 2019 Subaru and a few days my check engine light comes on... which is strange because it's a pretty new car. It's a lease so I take it to the dealership and they said all the oil levels are way too high and the wrong stuff was put in. Luckily the guy at the dealership decided not to charge me and saved me $200. I'm not saying go to the dealership(cause that's expensive), I'm saying just don't go to Midas. I was apparently lucky it didn't do more damage to my car. read more

Went here to get valves replaced On my tires. They tried to charge me $90 per valve and $137 for labor. I walked out. Some man in the parking lot gave me an address to A to Z tires. I went there and they charged me a grand total of $40. I would highly recommend you go anywhere but here for any work on your car. read more

The young woman behind the counter, a Ms. Lyons was so impressive. juggled the phones, all the walk in's and the men who work there. And it was really busy. Giving a split review because some of the people I interacted with here were very friendly and helpful. But overall I was very unsatisfied. I had a 730am appointment for my tire pressure light being on. I called at noon and they hadn't even touched my car yet. When I stated that I had a 730 appointment the guy literally shrugged me off and had no apologies or anything to say. The second guy that answered when I called at 230 said they were looking at it now and he was apologetic. They called me at 430 and said I had two tires with nails that were unpatchable and he sold me on four new tires. They called me again at 5 asking for my wheel lock key which I didn't have. He said they could likely get the locks off but it would take time. They called at 530 and said they couldn't finish before they closed. I told him not to bother and that I would come get my car. If they had just looked at my car before noon they could have gotten their $1100 for four new tires. I called the dealer and they said if I had let them jerry rig my tires off they likely would have damaged my car. Took it to the dealer and they did all four with better tires and tools for $900. read more

I am a grad student so I don't have a lot of money, and Nathan was very honest with me regarding what needed to be done and what could wait. He was beyond helpful in getting me what I needed to get back on the road. I was having a really awful day and his compassion, patience, and kindness turned it around. I asked him for his boss' number so I could personally tell him what a fantastic employee he was, and he told me to leave a review. Price was great and people were polite! But My appointment was at 7:30am - There was a coffee station but no coffee. Service took about an hour because I ended up getting my filter and wiper blades changed. Also, I've never gotten an oil change that didn't also include a wiper fluid top up. The man and women at the desk were friendly, however I was upset about not having my appoint time kept. I however was not the only one; a gentleman came in with an appointment and was told he could not be serviced today because they were backed up. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have second opinions about a service diagosis. I had been experiencing a lot of suspension knocking and noise, as well as bottoming out. I was working on the car myself to fix the issues. I had already done a strut replacement and sway bar link repla event in the rear, which fixed those issues in the rear. I decided to take the car to Midas to have them inspect my suspension, so I can get to the bottom of it. The inspection was around $20, and they came back and told me that my left front wheel bearing was bad. They brought me out to the car that was on the rack and spun the wheel to tell me the noise that was occurring was a bad wheel bearing. They quoted me somewhere around $450 for the job. I took it upon myself to so the work, so I bought a new wheel bearing and hub assembly for about $125, plus the necessary press tool kit because of the style my car was outfitted with. In the process of examining my car further, I discovered that my tie rod ends and stabilizer bar links had movement and were bad. So, I bought those items to do the work at the same time as I did the wheel bearing work. After getting into it, I realized I did not have the right tools to remove my hub from the axle (slide hammer, air hammer, and a whole host of other things discovered while researching). So, I abandoned the bearing job for the moment and did the tie rod (inner and outer) and stab link job. I immediately noticed a huge difference. There was still some knocking and a little road noise, so I was suspecting that my shocks were also bad in the front (I don't think they have ever been replaced in over 200k miles, so that was almost a given anyway). I took my car to another locally owned and reputable shop here in town to have an alignment, since I had just done my tie rods. I explained to the technician that while I was under there, I noticed that my ball joints looked bad (because the boots were torn and the balls were exposed). He stopped me right there and told me it would be pointless to do an alignment if I had other outstanding suspension issues. So, I asked him to please do an inspection to see exactly what was left to be done. I also explained that Midas had previously done an inspection and told me my wheel bearing was bad. I asked him to please look at all my wheel bearings, just to cover everything. He came back and said my wheel bearings were in fact fine, the ball joints were fine too (because there was no play), and that my front shocks were in fact bad (which I was pretty sure was the case). He quoted me a fair price for the shock job plus alignment, which I declined at this time, and he also told me the inspection he just gave was free. I will do my own shocks replacement, but I will definitely be returning to this locally owned and reputable shop for the alignment, once I complete the work. Moral here is that Midas gave me bad information and if I wasn't a do-it-yourself-er, I would have probably paid them to do that wheel bearing replacement (which, btw the cost of the parts were under $130 online) for their quoted price of $423 (or somewhere in that range, I can't remember exactly), and I wouldn't have even needed that work. As it turned out, it was a combination of bad strut/strut mounts, bad, tie rods, and bad stabilizer bar links causing the issues. That noise he demonstrated for me was just the sound of the back of the rotor scratching against the rotor shield, which is this flimsy piece of metal that can be pushed away from the rotor. So, even though the guys at Midas were friendly and professional, make sure you get a second opinion, because you never know the quality if advise you will receive, and that goes for anywhere, really. read more

I have had bad experiences with oil change establishments with previous vehicles and since then had done it on my own. Bought a new vehicle and decided to give it another try. Shouldve stuck with doing it on my own. Drove to florida day after the oil change with no noticeable problems until a family member pointed out my truck was leaving puddles of oil In the driveway. Got underneath and found the oil plug was lightly ( and that is being generous) hand tightened. Called midas and they compeltely wrote it off after not being able to even find the transaction in the records at first. Took it to a shop in Fla. and they ended up having to replace 3.5 quarts out of 6.4. If i had driven home without noticing, my engine wouldve been done. But it doesnt end there... changed my oil (myself) for the first time since having it changes by midas and went to replace the oil filter. Guess what.... there wasnt one. They did not put an oil filter in!!!!!! Im irate at this point and wouldnt trust this place to vacuum the carpets in my car never the less work on important mechanical parts. I will never give them my business again. Be aware! read more
