I went here to get an oil change and asked for synthetic and was told it would be about $70. I returned 1.5 hours after they changed oil and when I was paying I saw she only charged me $37. I asked her if she put synthetic in and that I thought it was $70 and she said she made a mistake in charging me, but that they did put in synthetic. On the paperwork it said regular, and she changed that to say synthetic. She then said it's too hot outside and she is feeling too lazy to cancel the charge so she let me only pay $37 when it was supposed to be $70 and she said your welcome. I didn't believe that she would give me that discount for no reason so when she wasn't looking I went to the mechanic and pointed at my car and asked what oil he put in. He told me he definitely put regular and he told me that's what it said to do in the sheet and that's what it said when he looked it up on the computer. So the woman at the front straight up lied telling me she put synthetic when they actually put in regular. Update: I don't think the customer service for Midas cares either. I wanted to send them my receipt that said synthetic, but charged at regular price through email. They can only file the complaint if I give them my cell phone # which I don't want to do because I don't feel like talking to them. This place is supposed to be cheaper than the dealer, but I actually dropped my car off here, immediately AFTER visiting the dealer, and if you can believe it, this place tried to upsell me even MORE than the dealer did. I "need" just about every service they sell, and somehow, despite a "lifetime warranty" on brake pads, replacing them is still just as much, or more, as it cost the first time. They just jack up the prices, disqualify you from using coupons, and you are basically paying the same, no matter how many time your pads are replaced. It's such a shady, scammy mode of operating but I'm tired and I just want my car back and this is the second place already, so F it. Screw me and charge whatever you need. I crawled in last last Saturday, in a Porsche Boxter, pretty well devastated that a 'helpful' friend had topped off my brake fluid with antifreeze. According to Porsche, this was a four-figure repair. Fortunately, I did not pump the brakes, and made it to the closest garage i could find -- Amos's Midas. Amos was there right away to provide comforting assurance: "If it's fixable, we'll fix it, don't worry, just have a cup of coffee and relax. Easy for him to say!! 45 minutes later, I saw my car being driven out for a test drive: 'WHAT!!!??' All done my friend!!! And $111 later, I was back on the road, care free. And I'm not really as stupid as I look, so I went to Porsche on Monday, the same one that quoted that four-figure service, for them to inspect and make an official determination: "ALL GOOD -- WHAT DID YOU END UP DOING?" I just had a interstate battery put in two months ago and they're trying to sell me a battery then they tried saying I needed brakes and rotors and I told Harry "sir F*** you I just replaced all my brakes and rotors on my honda" so I got my keys and didn't even bother with them changing my oil. So I took my car right down to street to A.G.T. Auto with Bobby smartest decision I ever made. He told me everything was fine changed my oil, filled my fluids, and made me very happy!! Joel and his team are good guys. I have been taking my car here for a couple of years now and the prices are fair and the service is excellent. Not sure why the negative reviews are questioning their character here. I had my brakes done here and they were squeaking like crazy after just a couple of months. I took my car back in and within a couple of hours they had replaced my squeaky pads and even threw in a quart of oil because I was low, all at no charge. I have been a 10 year customer of this shop and the staff are great... the OWNER IS NOT ! 3 months ago I had my radiator worked on and recently noticed some drippings and took it back in. They found one of the clamps loose and replaced it. They parked my car outside and adjacent to a road known road hazard by them, they did not warm me of it and when I backed my car out, I ran into it. The owner came out and said that his guys normally warn customers to avoid hitting it, but took NO RESPONSIBILITY at all even though I was not warned. I told him that I would split the repair costs as I suppose backing out his business, even with looking in my mirrors, the hazard in my blind spot, I somehow should have noticed... THE OWNER HAD ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE and for that reason, BEWARE!!!! What happened to the customer is always right? Do not go to this specific Midas location, but if you do, please get a second opinion!!!! My car was making a rattling noise so I took my car to the nearest Midas because I know that my muffler has a lifetime warranty here. After they told me I needed a new muffler and I said that I have a warranty with them, they started pointing at random things under the car saying I also needed a bunch of other repairs that were going to cost a total of about $600. Thankfully my father was with me who is knowledgeable about cars. These people started listing items under my car that my father has never even heard of--obviously trying to take advantage of me. We drove to another Midas (in Tustin where I am temporarily residing) and they replaced my muffler FREE OF CHARGE and said that was the only issue. Steve from the Tustin location REALLY made my day. $0 is a whole lot better than $600. Very upset with the Beverly Hills location... read more

I took my wife's car here for a brake inspection right before closing time. I knew the brakes were bad, and was expecting the worst. Joel offered to do the inspection and call me regarding the estimate. I left it overnight, and within an hour, he called and told me the news. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought and Joel actually offered to do the job after-hours so I would be able to pick the car up that night. I gladly accepted and within 2 hours, the repair was done, paid for, and I was driving it home. Great customer service! read more

Serious concerns about the level of competency at this place. I brought my car in for a standard brake job and when I left I heard this chirp coming from the tires/wheel well and a dull grinding noise when I picked up the speed. When I brought it back they tightened up the bearings (exacerbating the issue rather than correcting it) which seemed to help with both noises for a few miles but the noises came back louder than ever shortly after getting on the highway. Needless to say, I was seriously concerned and no longer trusted the service I was getting. I brought my car to the manufacturer/dealer to be inspected and they discovered that the bearings were so tight on one of my rear tires that it was unable to turn. Essentially I was dragging it down the road. I can only imagine what kind of stress this has put on other parts of the car. I will never bring any vehicle back to this MIDAS. read more

I had been experiencing some issues with my breaks before bringing my car here. I had an idea of what kind of work the car would need and this Midas location was spectacular in meeting my needs. They were extremely helpful, respectful, and professional. They kept me updated on a finish time and accepted an online coupon after the work was completed. Harry at the front desk was exceptionally accommodating and helpful from start to finish. I definitely recommend using this location as I will be in the future. As a woman, I am often hesitant to visiting the mechanic alone in fear of getting ripped off, but I did not feel that way here in the slightest. I went here for a simple tire patch after driving over a nail, and they did not do it correctly and my tire was flat the next morning. I called AAA because I couldn't even drive on the tire to take it back to Midas and the AAA guy looked at their patch job and said it was cheap and no wonder it was not holding up. He then patched my tire up right then and there in a fifth of the time it took Midas to patch it and it has held up since. This Midas uses cheap materials and unfortunately puts lives in danger by sending people on the road like that. Do not go here. read more

This location prices flat fixes at $30. But they wouldn't repair my flat given a law that says my puncture hole was too close to the edge and I had to instead buy a brand new tire from them. One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a business in my entire life. This has to be the cheapest, most unprofessional scum of a body of shop in the greater Los Angeles area. The owner Amos, is a disrespectful business owner with no business morals. I brought my car in for a break pad replacement, I got my car back and after 24 hours my car was making a loud noise, I thought my car was breaking down or a wheel was loose. I immediately went to the Beverly Hills Lexus dealership to find out what was wrong with my car. I got the diagnostic and was informed that Midas had put in after market pieces, which were not the correct size break pads, that's not even the worst part, the breaks were missing a shin kit ( the piece that holds the break pad intact). I took my car back to Midas and explained to them the situation and the job they have done wrong on Friday the manager Joel, told me to return on Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend, meaning I wouldn't be able to drive the vehicle for four days. I went back to Lexus paid an additional $1200 to fix the original job and everything Midas had done wrong. Amos gave me no guarantees, he never told me he would fix it and never took responsibility for the bad job he had done. He is extremely rude, disrespectful and a scumbag. I would not go back for any car service if you paid me. I am taking this man to court. I did some research and found that this was it his first dishonest encounter. He has robbed people of their money using these dishonest tactics in the past. Several other auto body shops and distributes do not work with him either because of his dishonest ways of short handing others. I do not advise anybody to ever go to Midas body shop on La Cieniga and Wilshire, all of his proves are way over priced. You get terrible service while fixing your car. These people "fixed" my brakes not even one year ago. The other day I was driving with a one and three year old and the brakes completely failed. The mechanic informed me that whoever did my brakes last (Midas) gave me cheap, crappy parts, even though I paid over $700 for these brakes. I do not even care that I have a warranty on this crap, because I do not want brakes that almost killed two young innocent children to a company who ovbiously just wants your money. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR OIL/FILTER THERE! I wish I had the option to give minus 5 stars! They are THIEVES! The manager is very dishonest!! I have been taking my cars to this Midas for all services. Yesterday, the manager asked me to leave my car for 2 hours for oil and filter change. He charged me $40 for the new "special filter" and $40 for the 5/20 oil that I requested. I agreed with the total, and decided to wait for the service. One hour later, as I walked to my car to get my jacket, the worker was putting the new oil in my car. I asked what kind of oil he was using, and he replied 5/30. I was surprise because I ordered the 5/20!! (the better one). I asked the worker to stop his job and put my car up again because I wanted to check the new filter, if it was really changed (I asked for the box of the new filter, and he hadn't) . He became embarrassed and confessed that he hadn't changed the filter, and apologizing said that "he was only following orders from the manager" !! They didn't even had the new filter in store! I got my car out and took to the dealer. Is more expensive, but at least you get for what you pay. This MIDAS is dishonest, and this makes me sad, for the trust i always had on them. I went to get my oil changed here yesterday. During my five minute drive home, my engine starts billowing black smoke.Even after pulling over and turning off the car, it continued to smoke for about 20 minutes. After getting it towed to the dealership, they tell me nothing is wrong with the engine, but whoever changed the oil just spilled oil over everything inside the engine and didn't bother to clean it off. Total jokes. Took my car here a few weeks ago to get an oil change and I knew my brakes probably needed to be replaced. I paid to have all of my rotors/brake pads replaced for ~$1100 which was fine but it was what happened after that really disgusted me. First off, they never changed my oil-the light simply never went off. When I brought it in after calling, a bunch of worker people ignored me completely and one little short man literally walked in the opposite direction basically running away from me when I tried to ask him to help me. Finally, a random worker directed me to the "manager" who was basically mentally handicapped and wanted to argue with me as to why he could not help me. Then some super old man (who I was later told was the owner) started to question me asking me stupid questions that had nothing to do with actually helping me. I am not sure why anyone here shows up to work because they don't know how to use a computer, speak to customers, be logical, etc... I am still unsure why I paid for an oil change that I later had to BEG to actually have done. I usually bring my cars to Express Auto Shop on Pico/Robertson, but I brought my car to be serviced here because it was conveniently located next to my home and I was strapped for time. While I did save time, my pocket book took a huge hit! My car had problems with shaking while accelerating. I was assured that the shaking would be fixed by replacing the hydraulic fluid. The cost for doing this with labor included was approximately $500. As you might guess, I'm still having problems with the car. Brought the car back to be checked, and they still had no answer. "Check engine light is good, so there is no problem." These guys are NOT mechanics. Don't ever bring your car here for anything other than your brakes (I'd probably be hesitant on this as well). Bring your cars to Sam at Express Auto Shop on Pico/Robertson instead. He is honest and you will be satisfied with the job that he does. I will never bring any of my cars here in the future, and would encourage you to do the same if you want quality work for your hard earned money. read more
