I found Excel while looking for a shop to do my oil service and I'm really happy I did because they were absolutely awesome. Quick and efficient and everything is running well so far. Plus Ricky and the whole team was extremely nice and helpful. They even fixed my windshield wiper for free which was a nice bonus! I will definitely be back! read more

Incredibly fast service, such a pleasant experience during a stressful time. Very reasonably priced. I felt so taken care of, they took the time to call me and keep me updated on the process. First time there and I was completely satisfied, l will definitely be doing business with them in the future. If I have to deal with auto issues in LA, it's always such a pain, so it's nice to know I have a place to go that will handle it with professionalism and care. It's a challenge to find an auto shop you can trust, I am so relieved. read more

Excellent, trustworthy, and well-priced! All the work done on three car's of ours was completed quickly and all three cars are running great! We would strongly recommend Excel Auto! read more

I brought my car in to change my brakes because they were awfully wasted grinding on the metal. Ricky and Alberto were there to help me with there Speedy and Excellent Customer Service. They ordered but also installed my brakes the same day to make sure I was safe on the road again. I want to thank Myron the ONLY Mechanic here at Excel Auto Motors for all the hard work he does because boy I'm sure its tough to be alone working on 5-6 cars all at the same time. I Definitely Recommend anyone to Come to Excel Auto Motors they will take care of you at an Affordable Price!! They Definitely fulfilled my Satisfaction!!! Keep up the Great work! Highly HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Went above and beyond duties to a total stranger. TRUSTWORTHY, great service and job well done. I came in from a Groupon oil change and looks like they "changed" my life instead. I am new to LA, so what luck it was to find the perfect mechanics. I just bought a vintage Mercedes with oil leaks. Was quoted over $3K to fix from another shop in San Diego. Excel fixed the main problems for much less. Ricky is the owner and Alberto manages the office portion- both are professional and friendly. They were frank with which problems were urgent and which could wait. Price quotes and labor costs are very TRANSPARENT and reasonable-- what more could you ask for? read more

Excel Automotors - Auto Repair Near Me - Culver City, California

My car needed body work after being hit while parked on the street at my house. I needed just basic work, and because it was being paid for not through insurance but by my very apologetic neighbor, I needed it to be as cheap as possible, The people at Excel did a fantastic job, fast, and a surprisingly great price. The pricing was transparent and carefully explained to me. My car looks and drives even better than before the mishap. I was really pleased with the entire experience and will always go to them first from now on. I have found my new "go to" mechanics. read more

Ricky & his team are the best! My family and I have been getting our cars fixed/maintained by them for the past few months, and they are trustworthy and they take care of our cars very diligently but efficiently. My dad came in for repairs to his Jeep engine and recommended me to get my car maintained by them. So when I needed an oil change and fix my dead headlight bulb, they swiftly helped me out. I came in at 11:30A and they were finished by 12:30P I was amazed at how fast they work and the honesty of their labor that was printed for me to see. Thank you Ricky! Thankful that we get to go to an honest & hard working team like you guys! read more

They did a great job on my oil change and I was very comfortable with the price. They also handled my tantrum really well that I threw over Hertz rental car having completely screwed me over last minute where I had no reliable car to get to me to a work assignment that I had accepted weeks ago (my car has a P0012 code, but I first needed to get an oil change to rule out other issues). They got me in and out and really held it together during my melt down. I typically do not have melt-downs so this was new to me also. Next time I come in for an oil change I will be in a much better mood since I will never deal with Hertz again. Problems solved! read more

I cannot begin to thank Ricky, Berto, and their team enough for all of the work and support they have given me over the years with my cars! As someone that doesn't know cars very well, it was a huge relief to find mechanics that I trust. I first found Excel Auto Motors when I was looking for a second opinion. Ricky and his team showed me how the other place was trying to scam me for double the cost. When I had an emergency flat tire on my way to work, I called them and they repaired it within 10 min. When I was in a collision, they gave me their opinion on the value of the damage and made reparations at a fraction of the cost. When I was struggling to keep up with the repair costs on my old vehicle, they advised me on what to prioritize fixing, what could be delayed, and alternative economical solutions. And finally, when I was preparing for my cross country drive, they fixed up my car, texted to check in on my long journey, and even offered to continue being a second opinion after I moved away! I will truly miss Excel Auto Motors. If you want to support good people and good businesses, go to Excel Auto Motors. read more

These guys did an excellent job with my oil change! Terrific customer service, highly recommend taking your car here.

Ricky & team at Excel were fantastic to work with - I highly recommend them & they will be my go-to for all future car maintenance & repair. I had my car towed to them from Subaru of Santa Monica who wanted to charge me $6,563.90 to replace upper & lower hoses, radiator, & the thermostat. Ricky was on top of it! He quoted me a a cost of $931.85 & I had my car back a day later. It has been over 2 months & the car is running smoothly. I'm so appreciative of the reasonable cost & excellent service Ricky provides. read more

I needed a new radiator hose FAST. Ricky was so helpful, kind and affordable. He took it in at 8am and I had it back the same day by 3pm. I'll definitely be returning to Ricky and his team again for any future auto needs. read more

This is our go-to mechanic mainly because of Alberto!!! Alberto really goes ABOVE AND BEYOND but generally the team here is wonderful to deal with. I have dealt with a few mechanics across LA before discovering Excel Auto Motors, and was always used to feeling a little uneasy (especially as a woman who honestly is not super car-smart) - but not with these guys!! Alberto and his team have always made me feel super comfortable and are extremely trusting people. I got a bunch of work done on my BMW, and Alberto walked me through all the problems in detail, gave all the different price options and always waited to get my permission before starting the work, which I really appreciated. Also his team would test drive my car multiple times around the block to make sure everything was working properly. They even will help take it through the smog test station if you are needing that done! Now what was REALLY impressive was that Alberto personally drove my car to my home (I was dealing with some unexpected circumstances). I offered to pay and he just did it as a kind favor. I was blown away by his kindness!! I would recommend these guys to ANYONE dealing with car issues, they are true experts AND honest, kind people giving trustworthy reasonable prices. Alberto is a wonderful communicator and always promptly responded to any questions I had. Thank you so much Alberto and team!! PS. They do a variety of cars - this is my partner's go to mechanic too for his Jeep! read more

I haven't come back in since I don't need another oil change and I may not be in the area anymore, but they have tried reaching out multiple times via text and Yelp messages to make sure that they can make it up to me because it was incorrectly charged. read more

Rique and his team are great at serving my car. I've known him for several years. He's honest, reliable, and affordable for most of your car's needs. It's in a convenient location in Culver City off of the Washington exit, on Washington Place. Call first and check for availability. You're going to feel at ease knowing that the service your car needs will be done. They do clean work and will always give you a heads up on any suggestions for your next service. read more

We found the right honest mechanic and auto repair shop we have been looking for a long time! They are very thorough and know what they needed to do to fix our Jeep Patriot car, which we have difficulty in finding the right mechanic in Los Angeles because most of them doesn't troubleshoot or fix our car correctly. Its been 4months now since our car was repaired and its working great ever since they repaired it. Excellent service and highly recommended! read more

Ricky was super helpful and took the time to explain a lot about what service my car would need and why. I appreciated his help and honesty. I think this is a great shop in LA and I would recommend their service. Thank you Ricky! -Sophia read more

Ricky and his team are LA's best! I brought my 1956 F-100 pick up truck to him and being an old truck that sat in a museum it needed a lot of work. Ricky explained what was needed to make it safe to drive and some other things to help but never tried to up sell me anything. He held on to her until she was safe to drive and wouldn't break down. Poor guy had to get towed a few times on test runs. He also went way out of his way to get this all finished for me by my birthday which was tight and ended in him running around town getting parts for me. I can't recommend Excel motors highly enough and am so happy to find a great, honest, reasonably price mechanic close to home that black betty can go to for work. If you have a vintage truck or just want a great mechanic Excel motors should be your first place to call. Cheers read more

I have found my permanent mechanics! The night before my first day of work my car decided to not start! I had no idea what could be wrong with it which scared me so I called a tow truck to take it to a mechanic. I of course went on Yelp.com and had decided to take it to another shop called Eds. After talking to him he told me how overbooked he was and that he probably wouldn't have time to even look at my car for a couple days and that it might take a whole week to fix my car. Now, I def. appreciated his honesty but after hearing that I didn't know what to do! My tow truck driver suggested Excel Auto Motors. He told me it was not a far drive from where I was (Culver City) and that they were good mechanics who surely could fix my car in no time. I decided to trust him and went to the shop (at almost around midnight mind you). To my surprise Ricky made himself available to let me bring my car in so late and told me it would probably be done by the next day! As they promised it was ready to get picked up the next afternoon. It turns out my fuel pump was bad and the job ending up costing me less than what they originally estimated for! That was a pleasant surprise! That made me really trust these guys. They offered to pick me up from wherever I was and stayed open past when most shops close to wait for me after I got off of work. I met Tom who also owns the shop and he was so nice and explained and SHOWED me what was wrong with my car. Even answered all of my random questions about maintenance down to my squeaky brakes. He also re-checked my brakes after hearing my concerns just to make sure he wasn't sending me out with a hidden problem. Thankfully I still had about 50% left in them and he sent me on my way. I will surely be coming back for all of my mechanical needs! Very accommodating trustworthy mechanics! (Hopefully I won't be back too soon though!) read more

Finding a trust worthy mechanic is almost as tough as winning the Lotto. Ok, not as bad but it seems like it. I've dealt with Tom for over 20 years when he was at Grand Prix Auto with Erine. Tom went his own way and started Excel, they were in Inglewood for a while, a major pain in the ass to get over there but they would pick up and deliver. But not any more, now they are in Culver City. If you're looking for a mechanic, Excel is great. If you're looking to restore an old car, they are great too. Tom recently retired but the head mechanic Ricky has taken over and still the same great place. Their driveway is always full of classic cars in various stages of restoration. I wonder if they would be interested in just a simple or minor repair but it doesn't matter the size of the repair, big or small, they do it with care and respect. You can trust these guys read more

I highly recommend Excel auto motors. Speak to Ricky he's very knowledgeable mechanic and is very honest!

Simply the best! Recommend it 200%. Now that I live in Berkeley I still drive all the way down to L.A to have Ricky taking good care of my car! I know it sounds crazy but when it comes to my car I want to make sure that it is being taken good care of and on top of doing a great job, Ricky is a very pleasant person who also will explain you and show you why this is happening to your car and offers various solutions at a very good price. Also as a woman you won't feel uncomfortable unlike some other mechanics because this guys are friendly and very respectful. You won't just get great service, you will also get treated right. I strongly recommend it. Being able to trust your mechanic keeps you safe on the road and give you peace of mind. This place is AWESOME! read more

Ricky rocks. My car broke down on the 405 on my way from San Francisco to San Diego. The tow truck driver asked me where I wanted it towed and I told him I had no idea. I don't know the area. Plus it was Saturday and all the shops were closed for the weekend. He said he'd tow it to his friend's shop in Culver City, and I figured I was really in for it. Non-local, all my road trip stuff in my car, completely at this shop's mercy. Ricky went above and beyond. He came out on Saturday night to unlock the shop so my car would be safe for the weekend. He even waited with me while my LA friend came to pick me up that night. When it came to the damage, it was a more involved issue than I hoped would be. He was extremely patient and walked me through every dollar so I understood exactly what I was paying for. I checked the price with my trusted shop at home and they confirmed that it was right. I should mention that I have a VW and it's almost always an issue getting the parts in a timely manner. He had the parts and got me out of there and back on the road on Monday. Ricky cares about the job and the person he's doing it for, and it shows. He gave me good vibes and peace of mind in an extremely stressful situation. I consider him a friend now and when I'm in the LA area, this is where I'll go. Namaste! read more

Super friendly and good cost. Always helpful when I come in and have them check my motor.

Excel Auto Motors was recommended to me by friend who restores old classic vehicles. I was a relatively new owner of a "63 Chevy Truck that I knew had a number of issues. Ricky was great from the moment I landed on his door step pleading for help. Unfortunately the repair list was incredibly lengthy, and it did take some significant time to secure parts and get the repairs done, but the truck is running well and everything came in under the estimate. Very very happy I found Ricky & team and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the team. read more

I trust that Rick will get my car back to tip-top shape. He's helped me with both my BMWs; first, the E36 M3 and recently with my 08 E90 335 sedan. Ive recommended this shop to my father and my friend and they were also won over. The shop is clean and Rick and his team are professional and trustworthy technicians who know how to work on BMWs. My 335 overheated and Rick gave me the break down of the issues and estimated time to fix before work began. His ETA was spot on and my car runs great. I couldn't be happier! read more

So grateful to Ricky and his team for their knowledge and honesty. The dealership tried to get me to do an insane amount of work that not only was unnecessary and expensive but would not have addressed the problem. Ricky really knows his cars. He immediatly knew there was a completely different explaination and solution to the problem. I especially apprecited the amount of testing he did to insure everything was right. He also returned the car to me in less than 24 hours and guaranteed his work for a year. Highly recommended. read more

All I can say about this place is great things! After driving my poor 2007 Dodge Caliber from Oklahoma City to LA, my car truly needed some TLC. The guys at Excel not only took care of the oil change I came in for, but also double checked several areas of my car that needed to be attended to after such a long drive. All of the workers were polite and professional. My car was ready exactly when they promised. If you need great work done at an excellent price, check these guys out. read more

Topline summary: I love this place. I've finally found my mechanic! Why? 1. Their service is fantastic. They are attentive and get the work done swiftly. 2. My car drives like new every time they finish with it (I have an '07 BMW 3-series) 3. Their prices are unbelievably reasonable. Like, really unbelievable. 4. They only recommend services when there are services to recommend. I've had their recommendations verified by a 3rd party. They are accurate and don't try to sell you something you don't need (this is great with my being a woman!) 5. They have loaner cars available so you don't have to spend money on a rental. 6. They wash my car. 5-stars, Excel Auto Motors. You guys are the best. read more

Ricky and his crew have been AMAZING in a treacherous journey to get a car from auction running well and passing smog. I couldn't have done it without them! I came in from across at Cal's (who is also amazing but wasn't open as late as Excel) needing to get two O2 sensors (out of 4) replaced... Ricky agreed, but also included a vacuum scan / test, which revealed a teensy, hard to see hose that was worn, with a leak, that would have also caused smog failure. He didn't try to roll in any BS charges in the next few months, even though I was in every few hundred miles to get a new engine code scan (at no charge!) until I was able to go next door to A&M Smog, whom I also HIGHLY recommend. With both places, paying with cash and being friendly and humane really do seem appreciated, and they both will work with you on costs, matching quotes from elsewhere. AAAA+++++ read more

Thank you guys! U are amazing !!!! Long story - short. .. I moved to west side about a year ago. Left my mechanic 30 miles away and needed to find a new guy closer to my house. Bought a used car and needed to fix some things. I checked some body shops in Culver city area on yelp, gave them a call, but didn't like the customer service and they couldn't take me the same day. When i reached out to Excel Motors, a very nice guy spoke to me and told me that i can come over now and he will check my car issues and will give me the estimate.
