For some time now, I've been hearing very loud squeaking from my brakes, so I brought my car back to Davis Bros. I know some squeaking can be normal, but what I've been hearing sounded abnormal, and it was extremely loud. I felt the person who assisted me was really dismissive, but he had a mechanic check my brakes. I completely understand they are busy, and I had no issue waiting or leaving my car to come back later. About 10 minutes later, I was told my brakes were great; there was just dust and dirt they couldn't clean off. I responded, "Really? It seems so loud!" and he assured me everything was fine. Another customer in the waiting area called me "annoying," I guess because I was questioning their expertise. I have always trusted David Bros, but I knew something was not right. I took my car to another mechanic a few hours later, and it turns out that the shims were missing from the front pads. The shims were not missing before my brake service at Davis Bros in 2024. At the very least, they could have left the old shims in. I'm really disappointed the shop didn't fully replace the parts during my last brake service, and even more disappointed they didn't catch it when they rushed me out this week. Again, I understand they are busy, and my brakes may not be a big deal compared to all of the other services being provided that day, but this experience has completely turned me off from returning.

I knew this was a low price for parts + service, so I called two days before to confirm that there wouldn't be any additionally service fees. They assured that there wouldn't be. I finally decided to overlook other poor reviews since I go to UCLA and this place was closeby. I dropped my car off around 2. When I called to see if my car was ready, around 5, they said that It was actually missing an additionally second lug nut and bolt. They suggested I have it repaired for an additional 200 dollars. I already knew my car wasn't missing these parts beforehand since I had inspected and photographed my vehicle just a few days prior. I denied the service and decided to come pickup my car before they found another 'problem' with it. When I came back, I walked directly into the parking lot and found my car parked HIDDEN behind their DUMPSTER. I inspected the wheels and noticed that they STOLE 3 OTHER LUG NUTS FROM MY WHEELS, which they didn't tell me about when they initially let me know that I needed an additional replacement lug nut and bolt. Clearly, they were planning to upcharge and scam me for EVEN MORE after I paid the first 200 dollar upcharge. I would have been more than willing to pay 50+ dollars for the initial 30 minute lug nut repair, which Is why I had intially contacted them to see if there was a service fee. Instead, they tried to take advantage. My car is in much worst condition now." - Following this incident, I asked Cook's what they did with the stolen lug nuts. They denied that they removed them, so I took my car keys and stole back my car, which they had hidden in the back of the parking lot, behind a dumpster. I ended up needing to buy 4 lug nuts AND a lug nut bolt, rather than just the 1 lug nuts that was initially missing. I had to pay much more for the lug nut bolt replacement than I would have if Cook's didn't STEAL parts out of my car. This place cost me hours of time, hundreds of dollars, and inhibiting stress. I will never forget how rudely I was treated. DO NOT take your car here.

Apparently Will retired and his son operates the shop now, but he still comes in to help out from time to time. The technicians were equally as friendly and upon removing the front wheels, noticed uneven wear on the treads and steel wires exposed on one of the inner tires. Due to the safety concern, I decided to replace all four tires and opted for an alignment to fix the uneven wear from before. They stock budget-friendly tire brands and have some more performance-focused brands as well. If they don't have what you want in stock, they can order it quickly. While the technicians and the alignment specialist, Rudy, were working on my vehicle, I was busy chatting with Will. There business has expanded and they opened up a full mechanic shop on the same block - "Sparky's." Will actually walked me over to show me the new shop. Once the new tires were on and the alignment complete, Rudy came over and explained what my original alignment measurements were and how they are now. It's clear from my visit today that Will and Rudy take pride in their work. To my surprise, they were completely honest and explained that the nail was bent and hadn't actually punctured the tire, so no repairs were needed. They even checked my tire pressure to make sure everything was good. They could have so easily taken advantage of the situation, especially with me being a woman, and I would have never known the difference. Unfortunately, I wasn't in town to bring it right away, and had to bring it back to the shop about 2 weeks later . (Still leaking btw) they said it was the "gasKeT" and I would have to pay another $48 to get this repaired. They said I should have brought it the day after i got the oil changed. Later after all the back and forth they offered to cover the costs for labor ,but I would have to pay for the part. Which was $3. I did not expect for them to charge me at all considering i had returned literally about 2 weeks later. (And called them over the phone twice to advise what was going on" They said i was "taking advantage" and told me god was watching. They said there was no way of knowing the part was damaged or defective . In my opinion they should have checked the gasket while doing the oil change . I ended up paying $10 which I didn't feel was fair but; at least they could pay off their $3 part they replaced. Next day after the lecture and "repair" ITS LEAKING AGAIN! haaaahahah now I have to go to the dealer and figure out what they broke on my car. I'm glad I didn't pay the $48 the second time around considering I came in with a car that was perfectly fine and left with a leaking car . My parents have also used West Coast a bunch of times. My car was having some pretty severe issues. I didn't need an appointment to come in, the car was fixed by the next day (we could have got it back the same day if we wanted, but we let them keep it overnight for some extra testing) They didn't try to upsell us at all. They mentioned a few things that they noticed needed done and when we said not now..they didn't push. And these were things that would be obvious with the work they were doing..they didn't go out of their way to pull out air filters or check unrelated things we didn't ask them to, like Subaru did. Everyone was super polite, professional, friendly, and very quick to answer whenever we called. We were in and out quickly for both drop off and pick up. It was extremely pricey, but what isn't these days. But also, I did have a lot of broken stuff. I am no longer allowed to drive it like it's stolen.

Greg then texted me asking me to confirm that I already had the tires before he could give me pricing. I responded right away, gave him the tire information, explained exactly what I needed, and also asked about an alignment. Hours went by and once again, no response. At this point, it just feels like I'm wasting my time trying to give them my business. I previously had an issue where my wheel valves were scratched during service, although, to their credit, they did replace the damaged one. Ever since that situation, though, the communication and service toward me have felt different. I can't say for sure if that has anything to do with it, but if a shop doesn't want my business, I'd rather they tell me instead of leaving me hanging. After being ignored by two different employees while simply trying to purchase tires and schedule service, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend them to my friends or other car enthusiasts that I know. I understand technical issues can happen, but that still doesn't explain my entire experience. I contacted Tom before this outage and after I clarified that I wanted the RE-71RS, I never received another response. Then when I scheduled through the website, Greg reached out to me directly asking for information and I replied immediately. From my perspective, I had already been having communication issues before yesterday's outage. Also, bringing up my other Yelp reviews has nothing to do with the service I received from your shop. My review is based on my actual experience trying to spend money with your business and repeatedly not getting a response.
