About a month ago while out and about on a sunday in Santa Monica I ran over some object and had 2 flat tires on the right side of my car. With limited options on a sunday I found these guys, called them up and got a quote for my tires and had my car towed there. Now here is what impressed me, I came into here expecting and ready to buy 2 new tires, the sales associate who helped me on the phone knew this too. That said, when I got there he took a look at my tires and said "let me check your tires first to see if they are fixable". I was kind of blown away by this since I was sure I needed new tires but he said if what I ran over was towards the center of the tire it might be repairable since it didn't look like I had driven on the tires while they were flat. They brought my car in and checked the two tires and on both of the tires on the right side I had a puncture hole like right in the center of the tires, I don't know what I ran over but much to my surprise they informed me that both of my tires were repairable. I was shocked by the honest effort from these guys to help me rather than just take my money. I was ready to buy 2 new tires, they knew I was ready to buy some tires, yet they took the time and effort to check my tires first to see if they were repairable. My bill went from about $260 to $40 for the 2 flat repairs. They fixed my tires up and I haven't had any issues with them since the repair. This place rocks! Called Kirk today to check out my son's brakes after someone at another auto shop (for an oil change) told him that his brake shims were loose. I didn't think this was possible because we had just had the front and rear rotors and pads replaced at a Temecula Big O in August. My son also said that his brakes were squealing. Kirk patiently listened to my explanation of the "supposed" problem and told me to send my son in. He explained to me that even though they are individually owned franchisees they would take care of any problems. To make a long story short, there was nothing wrong with my sons brakes. Sounds like the place that said the shims were loose was trying to make a quick buck. He also explained that the squealing was from "glazing" and is a common occurrence. I waited for a phone call from my son to hit me up for the cash to pay for the service but he never called. I had to call him to find out that Kirk hadn't charged him a dime. I live out of state and sending an 18 yr old kid to a mechanic for auto repair feels like sending a lamb into a lion's den but talking to Kirk was like talking to an old friend. When you're a girl, anything car related is just not appealing! I'm guilty of not being the best at maintaining my car and it has bit me in the butt a few times. A few days ago my car just started making this crazy rumbling sound, I thought my engine was going to explode! I called Big-O and the guy on the phone was very helpful and told me to bring it in and they would check it out. Got my car over there and they got me in quickly, checked everything out and as embarrassed as I am to say, the noise from my car was coming from the engine because there was like no oil in it! Stupid me, whoops kind of forgot about that :) They recommended that since I obviously waited so long in-between my oil change to perform an engine flush to clean out all of the sludge and of course an oil change as well, nothing crazy less than $150 for everything which isn't bad considering that I thought I was going to need a new engine or something based on the noise that it was making. They got me in and out of there in about an hour and I found the staff very friendly, informative, and most of all honest for not trying to take advantage of a damsel in distress! I was up in LA visiting my sister one weekend and we decided to head out for some lunch. On our way to Santa Monica, I noticed a weird noise coming from my car. It was almost like a screeching sound and sharp in nature. It was about 1pm on a Saturday and I wanted to make sure I got it checked out before I headed back down south. I figured that most places would have been packed at this time, especially in LA. I found the nearest shop next to my sister's place and ended up here. For one, it was packed, but I mentioned to the owner that I was in dire need to get this fixed as soon as possible, as I needed to be back home in the evening. I dropped my car off at his shop, had my sister drive us to lunch and when I came back, my car had been fixed. YES, believe it! My one and only experience at an automotive shop that was pleasant. They charged me a nominal fee and I was on my way. It took all of 1.5 to 2 hrs to have this dealt with on a normally busy day. The guy Mauro or whatever his name needs to learn how to talk. Zero customer service. I call him in advance asking if they could assist us. I had a nail in my so i was like okay cool it should be fast. Mario said it will take like 25 minutes. Okay cool. I arrive to the store Mario is like okay it's gonna be 45to an hour. I was okay. However, i knew they close at 5 and i asked him is it okay if i come after 5? He was like yeah we will call you. Then he calls me at 4:58 and tells me your car is ready and i was nice give me 15 min i'll be back. Here he says- "i dont care i will wait you till 5 only or you can tomorrow " i was like what??? Dude you calling me at 4:58 and initially you said you will wait but now you can't wait for 15min?? What surprised me even more is that he told "well run faster" Woww. The guy needs to lear how to talk. I am the manager in moving company and during this time when all businesses struggling, that is not what the owner of this place needs. read more

Dishonest Upsell Tactics - Always Get a Second Opinion! We recently took our car in to get a quote for replacing a pair of tires. Midway through the process, the employee informed us that the left axle was in terrible condition and needed to be replaced. Having encountered similar scare tactics elsewhere, we asked for a quote but decided to take the car to another mechanic for a second opinion. After a thorough inspection, we were told there was absolutely no need to replace the axle. I'm writing this review to warn others: always get a second opinion. Unfortunately, this is a trick many places use. They give you alarming news, you panic, agree to the unnecessary repair, and end up paying a hefty amount. Often, they'll show you a dirty, greasy part claiming it's the one that was "bad." Don't fall victim to this scheme. Be vigilant and double-check before handing over your hard-earned money. Went to the dealer for scheduled service on my vehicle and was told that I needed brakes all the way around and front struts. The price tag quoted to me was kind of scary, so I called around to get alternative quotes. I called them up and they told me that they perform these repairs and that I could bring the car in for a free inspection (never a bad idea to get a second opinion on suggested repairs). They confirmed the suggested repairs and gave me a quote that was around 40% less than what the dealer was quoting me. Got my ride fixed up and I'm now riding smooth again while also saving money! THese guys were great and I felt like they were being upfront with me and I liked how they took the time to take me to my vehicle to actually explain and show me why my car needed the suggested repairs. I have been going to this place for several years now. I am familar with this company because Big-O's are all over the place in Arizona which is where I moved to LA from. I always found Big-O to be a great place because it is basically a one-stop shop where I can take care of all of my automotive needs whether it be a set of new tires, an oil change, or a brake job. Big-O does it all and they always do a great job in my experience! I was very happy to find this location in Los Angeles and they did not dissapoint in terms of picking up where the boys in Arizona left off. I've always been able to get repairs done here considerably cheaper than at the dealership and their tire prices are competitive. Not only did the staff at Big O Tires help me come in for under my suggested budget but they educated me with tips on maintenance and protection to my vehicle for the future. I've been coming here for YEARS and I cannot say enough about how convenient their service has been. I honestly took their work for granted until I moved away and went to a local mechanic and was literally off the road for days. I was reacquainted with their great service when my tires started making a HORRIBLE noise on the 405. Worried and familiar with this location I dropped on by. I was greeted with a smile and a "heyyy, long time no see!" which nobody really cares about at a tire shop, but it was still nice. They informed me that my struts had gone bad and damaged the tires. Yesterday I took my BMW 335I into the dealership for service. Was told that I had a nail in my rear tire and that the tire would need to be replaced. I was quoted a ridiculous price for the tire ($480). So naturally I wanted to call around to see if I could find a better price. When I called the guy from big-o they gave me a better price but also when I informed the guy that I had a nail in the tire he told me to bring it in so that they can check it out and if it's fixable that they will repair it. Much to my surprise when I took it in today the tire was actually fixable and they patched the tire and had me out of there in about 20 mins for only $25!!!! got a new car literally weeks ago and noticed a screw in my right front tire the night before I was supposed to leave on a road trip... the first spot I dropped by told me it wasn't repairable and i would need a new tire. me being stubborn I sought out a second opinion and came to Big O (one of the only local spots open on Sunday). before the guys jumped to conclusions, they checked to see if the tire was leaking.... it wasn't. they then started working to remove the screw. it was tiny!! no damage was done! they checked it again for leaks just to make sure and upon not finding any, I was on my way without spending a dime. thanks so much to these guys for not taking advantage of the situation and doing the honest thing! read more

I've reviewed Big O Tires before in the past, but I want to commend the owner Ali. I messaged him on Yelp for a quote on a wheel alignment and and received a response within 5 minutes. When I arrived at Big O Tires the next day, the staff was originally going to charge me more than what I was quoted. I messaged Ali again through Yelp for clarification, and he immediately contacted the staff to ensure that they honored his original quote. And honor it they did, no questions asked. These people are crooks! I called the store this afternoon to find a Nankang 225/40R18 tire which is listed on www.bigotires.com for $104.99 (I even saved the email that was emailed to me from the website). I called this location and they quoted me a much higher price than what was on the website. When I asked the Clerk why, he said it was corporate's problem and didn't have anything to do with them. He was rude and very unprofessional. I have just complained to Big-O Corporate and will be contacting the BBB and my local news station to do an investigative report on this crooked place. I went in (Thurs, Aug 10) to get my tire patched. Found out that the puncture was on the shoulder and instead of patching it and having to come in later for another patch - Mario told me it would be more beneficial to buy a new tire. The store had the exact tire in stock and I was on my way. Having moved to the area in March (for school), finding a store that had a good reputation was a part of my search, and I'm thankful for the honesty within the store! I've been bringing my two cars to these guys for the last few years. I've always found the staff to be super friendly and honest which is very important to me. They handle everything for my two cars and have always been very fair and convenient for me. I never get the feeling that they are selling me services that I don't need which is critically important when it comes to automotive repair shops.
