I went to Leaf automotive and they were amazing. I dropped my car off first thing in the morning because there was a weird sound with my serpentine belt and I had a really long drive the next day for work. Not only did they diagnose and fix that problem they replaced my alternator and a couple other parts that were causing trouble. They also were super fast with their service and did it all in one day! And I was able to do my work job the following day. These guys are amazing and they are very fair prices. I definitely will go back here in the future and I highly recommend them! Although their quote was very expensive, I went ahead with the repair since my car was already there--a decision I deeply regret. Within just three weeks, their costly repair failed while I was traveling in Northern California, leaving me stranded 400 miles from LA. William Leaf refused to honor their warranty because I had no choice but to get the immediate repair done locally, resulting in an additional $2,700 expense, significantly cheaper than their original fee. The mechanic in Northern California discovered that William Leaf's mechanic improperly installed the part by folding a gasket--an entirely avoidable error indicative of poor workmanship. I called Leaf automotive and spoke to Alex.I requested to bring my truck in due to my battery light on for a possible alternator problem.Upon arrival,Alex and Alfredo made a diagnosis of my truck.Alfredo quickly determined I had a disconnected wire.He replaced the connection with a durable wire.He then tightened a loose alternator belt which was causing a squeaky noise.From start to finish,the service was excellent. So I was taking my cars to Leaf since 2021. They were always fair, to the point where I would take my girlfriend and her car there. I also work with many women and would send them to leaf as I had trusted them. It was always good work! Very respectful people. I had to stop going to leaf because after my girlfriend and I had broke up she had a very unsafe and negative experience. To the point where she broke no-contact to tell me! One day I took my car for standard service there and saw her car was on the lift. I ask the young gentleman in the office to let me know when she was gone because we were no longer together and were avoiding seeing eachother. He was kind and professional about it. I guess technician Alfredo heard me, because after she picked her car up the next day he went through the files in their office and called her on her personal phone. She never gave him her number or even talked to her. He wouldn't stop calling or texting her, asking if he could come to her house to do it for cheaper-saying they rip people off! She ignored him but felt very unsafe and didn't know what to do because they also had her billing address. To my knowledge he never went by, but you never know! It's a shame because I liked leaf! So much I would drive almost 40 min to go there. Trust is important and Alfredo broke that. I was mulling over this review for a while but I feel like leaf Auto is not safe for single women. Not with employees like Alfredo! King harbor auto in Hermosa is much better. They are respectful. read more

My splash shield came loose under my Honda-HRV. I called the Honda dealership and they said I had to replace it, it would be $800, and they wouldn't be able to fit me in until the next week. I was supposed to drive to Las Vegas the next day so I called Leaf Automotive since I live right up the street from them and asked if there was any way they could take a look at it and see if they could just reattach it. Not only did they see me right away and reattached the piece no problem, Alex said it was no trouble and didn't charge me since he just reattached a piece He honestly saved my weekend as I was so stressed I was going to have to spend hundreds to rent a car and then hundreds more to fix the problem later. I feel like I have been screwed multiple times by Honda Dealerships that take advantage of people who are in need/don't know much about cars so it was so refreshing to know the people at Leaf were honest and truly looking out for you. I brought my car in because my horn had stopped working. After a full day of looking at the car, I was told the speaker part of the horn had failed and the part would have to be replaced. However, I was told that Leaf Automotive could not find the replacement part, but I could try looking for one myself and bring it to them for replacement. I was able to find the part on my first google search. I ordered the part, however I had a different mechanic install it. In the end, the wires of the horn were disconnected. The speaker part was completely fine. It took this new mechanic 5 minutes to fix the problem. Leaving this experience feeling that Leaf is unreliable & not knowledgeable enough. read more

Not just great, AMAZING! My car is an 11-year-old BMW with 125k miles and still drives great. For no apparent reason other than age, my car began to make a metal clanking sound whenever approaching a complete stop and sometimes moving at low speeds under 5mph. I brought the car to my usual mechanic, a popular WLA tire and service center (that I will not mention by name). I've been using them since I drove out manufacturer warranty in 2014. I chose them because their location suits me, otherwise they do decent work, but are only inexpesive when compared to dealership. So the WLA garage provided a full inspection and found I had broken one of my rear struts and 3 of 4 control arms on front axel were broken. $2,100 seemed high, especially since I am in the process of finding a new car, my senses told me I should shop around. A family member who lives in Venice told me to call Walter at Leaf Automotive. I asked Walter for his price to replace struts including labor, he called me back in 20 minutes and said it would be between $600-$700, which the other garage wanted 1k for. I brought my car to Venice the next afternoon and he called me the following morning to discuss his estimate of $1599 to replace rear struts, control arms and replace windshield wiper fluid pump, which was not included in the other bid. My car is ready at 4pm the next day, I picked up that evening and my car drove like a different car, or how it once used to, so I was happy, but at the next traffic light I heard the metal clanking sound just like before, yikes! The next day, I phoned Walter, explained clanking sound...he said to bring it in anytime and he would take a look. I bought car back later that day and about 20 minutes later, Walter and Alexi explained how sound is coming from inside the wheel, and how TPM sensor had detatched from wheel and is what we heard banging around. They asked if I had 15 mintues, I said sure. They unmounted my tire, dissassembled the TPMS module and put it back together, remounted sensor on wheel, put wheel back on, and voila, problem solved! I asked, "how much?" and Walter said, there was no charge. Thanks again Walter and Alexi, really appreciate everything. So It turns out William Leaf (founder) was known to Venice locals as 'the honest mechanic who can fix anything', I think Mr. Leaf would be happy his business continues to live up to such high standards. read more

Let's just say this isn't the shop it used to be when William was alive, because he communicated well, and would let me know after diagnosing a problem, what was involved with fixing it and what it would cost. I took a chance with the new owners, and they didn't bother to call to let me know what they felt The problem was or what it would cost to fix. I had some low idle stalling issues, and it was hard to start when fully warmed up. They cleaned the throttle body which solved the low idle issue, and replaced my battery, and charged me 900 bucks. A week after getting the car back the engine light came back on and it's still hard to start when it's warm. I was expecting and would have been okay with a $300 bill but $900. They definitely should have called me with an estimate regarding their diagnosis of my problem and what it would cost to fix. read more

2013 Subaru Legacy cam carrier reseal price quote $5500-6000 (wow). 140 for the price quote and diagnostics to see if the oil leak is the valve cover or the cam carrier (that's normal/acceptable) for 1hr (cash or check was required, "the credit card machine is broken"). I know it's a big job (engine out etc). It's not worth 5500. That's an I don't want to do this number that you gave out before and after looking at the car. I was already there so I had the diagnosis done. No thanks. Here's why what you did was wrong: Don't give out a crazy price. What if someone is desperate and needs their car fixed and doesn't know any better? Do they just accept it and pay the crazy high quote? read more

Amazing service! Saturday afternoon, a sudden warning sign for low air pressure in one tire and found a nail causing the leak. Needed the car next morning so pretty desperate. Called Leaf and was told it was closed Saturdays. But if I could make it there very soon he would help me anyway. Said and done, I went straight there and got help to patch the tire in no time. In Santa Monica on vacation when our car died getting off the 405. Thanks to prior recommendations on Yelp we chose to be towed to Leaf Automotive. We thought we had a broken fuel pump and were preparing to pay up to $1200. Walter looked at our car within an hour and called with the news that we had air in the fuel line, he bled the system and charged us for a half hour of service - $70 !!!!! Two stars because the guy was actually friendly. Long story short, I called them right at 7:30 AM (when they open) and explained that my A/C wasn't working properly, and asked the guy if they repaired A/C and if I could bring the vehicle in to him. He told me they offer A/C repairs and that I could bring the vehicle in right away. Dropped the vehicle off at 7:48 AM, get a call at 11:26 AM saying they're not sure why the A/C isn't working, and that they'd need to inspect it more thoroughly, but that I'd need to bring the vehicle back on Monday (it was Friday when I dropped it off) because they've gotten busy. I go pick it up around 11:40 AM (they close at 5 PM), and asked the guy what the difference would be if I brought it in on Monday vs the day I did bring it in. He says 'oh you'll have priority on Monday. No matter who comes in, you'll be ahead of them. Plus, oil change was overpriced. I paid $125 for 5 quarts, that's my fault though, should've stuck with my regular guys. This place wasted my time, why would I ever come back??? read more
