Grant Auto is a great place to go for quality vehicle service at respectable prices. The experience of bringing my car here versus a dealership is day and night. Here, I bring my car in and someone looks at it within minutes and tells me what the issue is, that it does need to be addressed, but that I can still safely drive it until I can afford the repair. That's what I want to hear. It turns out that replacing the suspension on a car isn't exactly cheap but when you have a small shop that runs efficiently with a small number of guys, you can turn around a job quickly and cost effectively (again, just what I want to hear!) Friendly guys, they replaced my Mazda's leaking oil pan and some parts. It took a day or two longer than expected (they said they ordered the wrong part) and the communication was a bit slow. After I got the car back my oil pressure light came on as I was arriving home. I called them, very concerned, refusing to drive it unless it was looked at so they met me at my place. They took a look, and drove it back to their shop because it needed more oil. Things have been fine since. Warning: Dishonest and Shady Business Practices I brought my car to this mechanic, trusting them to replace my alternator, which they claimed to have done. However, within just two months, the alternator failed again. I paid $600 for this so-called "repair" and now have every reason to believe they never did the job properly. I have readings from another mechanic showing that just after 2 months the alternator is bad and I did not purchase a new one as they lead me to believe I did. They also failed to reprogram my vehicle's electrical system after disconnecting the battery for an extended time, despite me explaining that it needed to be done. Every time I tried to address these issues, they deflected my questions, moving the goalposts and avoiding accountability. I called looking for a solution hoping this was a simple mistake but the angry hostile response I received confirmed I had been taken advantage of. When I sent Ali a video of the readings showing the "new" alternator was malfunctioning he had the audacity to accuse me of "wanting to play little games." Since when is expecting my car to run properly after spending over $1,000 a "game"? Every response from Ali was hostile. To make matters worse, he is now refusing to take my calls. This is completely unprofessional, and I am left with a malfunctioning car and no way to reach him. I have no other choice but to take him, the videos and statements from other mechanics to small claims court just so that I can get my money back. It's time consuming but giving people like this legal consequences is the only way to fight back. Shady, dishonest, and untrustworthy. Do not trust your car with these people. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR SERVICE! Ali Braidy lied to me and sold me an illegal catalytic converter and now I can't pass a smog check due to lack of identifying numbers. When I confronted them about it they tried to forge a smog check instead of replacing the part I paid for and used that as leverage to keep me quiet. Back story: I parked at a friend's house while I was out of town, and when I got back my original converter was stolen. Since the shop was literally 300 feet away from where I was parked, I called them for a quote and they were a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the dealership, so I went with them. $2100 later, Ali Braidy returns my car. When it comes time for my smog check, the technician fails my car because the catalytic converter does not have identifying numbers. When I contacted Ali, he first lied to me and said the numbers were on the top of the part. They weren't. When I called him again he rushed over to pick up my car from my house. He calls the next day saying that he was able to pass my car, but I would need to go through him for all future smog checks. I said I wanted a legal part like I originally paid for. When his worker returned my car he said that it would cost $6k for a real replacement and that I needed them. When I said I would report them to the BAR and LAPD if he didn't give me a legal part he said, "that's fine, they like to have coffee in our shop." Now I'm out $2100 for an illegal part, $40 for the failed smog check, a tank of gas, and I still have to buy a new converter to register my vehicle. These people are CRIMINALS. read more

This is the best shop in the area. I've been looking for someone that I can trust, and I finally found them. Even better, they are around the corner from where I live. They fixed my car and were able to diagnose issues that nobody else was able to diagnose (for me, it was issues starting the vehicle -- alternator and/or battery issues on my 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 sedan). I had to take it to two different shops before coming here, but nobody was able to help except for Grant Auto. I highly recommend anyone come here first for inspections/opinions/any work that needs to be done because they performed better than the two other shops that I visited before them. I've been here three times, and can't recommend it highly enough! A couple weeks ago, my check engine light was on, and I stopped at an AutoZone to have the codes read. They reccomended "the auto shop right over there". I hadn't planned to take care of things that day, but it was literally 5 seconds away, and I had a headlight out too, so...I popped over to Grant Auto. I gave my headlight bulb to Ali, and told him that I had recently been to Jiffy Lube to have it replaced, but the mechanic there said it started smoking. Ali said "was it smoking, or did he just not know how to do it?" (I have a German car). We both rolled our eyes and laughed, and he got to work. He replaced the bulb no problem, and I told him which codes came up for my check engine light. Without missing a beat, he told me that one of those codes is related to a recall, so I should call VW first, and double check so I don't waste any money. So honest, and helpful! Fast-forward to yesterday, I came back to finally get it taken care of. This time, I met Ziad. He is so personable! He had me smiling and laughing right away, and I knew my car was in good hands. I had my oil changed, and the check engine light dealt with. I sat in the garage for a little bit, and while watching Ziad work, I saw how unbelievably thorough he is. He was getting out of my car, and the door screeched. He opened and shut it a few times, listening to it screech...and then went and grabbed something, sprayed it in the hinges, and the screeching disappeared. That horrible noise had been driving me nuts for THREE YEARS ! It annoyed me every single day, but I never remember to take care of it. Ziad just did it absent-mindedly. I am SO happy about that small thing, I can't even express. His attention to detail is remarkable. We hit a bump in the road; one of the check engine codes was going to be a very expensive fix. I was looking at replacing a specific filter for my (diesel) engine, and it was going to cost at least $700. Ziad saved the day! He suggested that we try spraying this special engine cleaner in there first, and that drive it at high speed to burn the soot off...and see if that would clear the problem, without needing to replace the part. To make a very long story slightly shorter...it WORKED! I saved $700+, and today, I passed my smog check. Unrelated: Last night, it was raining. There is a leak somewhere in my headliner, and it started raining INSIDE my car. I drove my car back to Grant Auto today, and Ziad was there again. He greeted me by name! As someone with an uncommon name, I'm not used to people remembering it, so it really made my day that he remembered. I know this review is already a novel, so I won't bore you with the details of my rain-soaked interior, but Ziad is the MAN. He worked so hard to help me, and I am grateful beyond words. I have had the same mechanic for 10 years, prior to coming to Grant Auto. Since moving to LA, I have been driving to Riverside to every time I need a major repair, because I don't trust anyone else. I know nothing about cars and I learned more in him explaining things to me in a minute or less. Super easy to understand on car features and functionalities. One thing I really liked about this place was how fast the service was and no BS. I've had auto folks who try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge for cars so they can get me add on tons of service and pay a huge sum, and then to find out later by another that I got duped. Not here! Even when I was bit skeptical, he was very transparent with me. It felt good knowing that I wouldn't get screwed over. I had to get an oil change and my turn signal fixed. They're honest. I've come here to have my brakes done and new spark plugs placed in. I am now doing my oil changes here as well after a bad experience at the Culver City Mazda service department. After Grant Auto had serviced my spark plugs, I went in to Culver Mazda for an oil change and they recommended new spark plugs. I knew I had just got them done at Grants and was confused on why it was being recommended. I went back to Grants and they opened the hood and showed me the dust still on the sparks plug cover. Meaning Culver Mazda had not even removed to check and was just going off their system recommendations. I brought my 1991 Jeep Cherokee here for some routine work. I was greeted by a manager and told him I have a list of work that needed to be done. I wrote it down for him and asked if the shop took care of everything on the list. The manager assured me they could take care of it, so I handed over my keys. Four days go by and I hear back from the shop.
