I was an automotive tech for several years before I left the industry and I know how difficult it can be as a tech and running a shop so I would not and do not leave this review lightly. Nor would I typically take any vehicle to a shop however my girlfriend was able to get approved for financial assistance for the repairs because she is in school and needs her only vehicle to be reliable. That being said if I could leave zero stars I definitely would. Almost 10k dollars in work PAID IN ADVANCE. Plus 160$ just for the inspection where they missed obvious needed and necessary repairs and recommended repairs that I know were not needed because they had recently been done. Unfortunately I wasnt able to review the recommendations prior to the repairs being approved by my girlfriend. Initially she was told it would take maybe a week to finish then after dropping it off it switched to 2 weeks. 3 WEEKS LATER they want another $600+ to replace the timing chain even though they supposedly already had the timing chain cover off so labor to replace it should have been minimal and thats going by book time. In the comments section of the additional estimate for the timing chain replacement was a note written by the service advisor that said quote "Need to start on asap. Customer has called 3 times for progress report" end quote. Keep in mind that this additional estimate was made 3 WEEKS AFTER the vehicle was dropped off and if they hadnt even started on it yet how could they possibly know that it needed a timing chain? At this point as of writing this review they STILL have my girlfriends only vehicle and every call asking how much longer its gonna take has been met with an arrogant rude response as if the customer is a nuisance for even wanting their vehicle back along with an endless list of excuses from being short on techs to supposed bolts being stripped out. You would think that since its been there so long there would be someone on it making progress to get it done and out of there but instead of being apologetic for the ridiculous amount of time they have taken my girlfriend is told that they will not dedicate any of their techs to it because its not a priority over anything else and the last call made to them as of today after being overly understanding and polite she is told by the service advisor Kev that they will get it done when they get it done and hes not gonna argue about it, not to call anymore because he doesnt want to talk to her anymore. Have a nice day and then HE HUNG UP ON HER. I cant even believe this guy still has a job since he clearly has no customer service skills whatsoever, cant manage a shop well enough to know how to prioritize vehicles that have been there for too long and has no accountability for his piss poor scheduling, complete lack of professionalism, the unnecessary repair recommendations. Im afraid to see what they probably messed up or broke during the process when we finally do get it back or if they even do all the repairs that have already been paid for. What a joke. Dont ever take any vehicle here for any reason. Not even for an oil change with a coupon. I wouldn't trust this place with a bicycle or an RC car. Do some research an find a quality shop with an honest service advisor because this place is absolutely pathetic. UPDATE*** We have had the truck back for about a month now and Ive had to crawl under it at least half a dozen times now. Starting with the very first day as soon as we got it home noticed the steering/suspension was making a clunking noise. I was at a loss for words when I saw that both the pitman arm and idler arm nuts were not even finger tight literally about to fall off and had no cotter pins in either one. Moments before finding this out I had been doi g 70mph on the freeway. If either of those steering components had come out of the centerlink it would have been catastrophic. On top of that all of the skid plate bolts were about to fall out, it didnt have enough oil in it to read on the dipstick, no cotter pin in the passenger side cv axle nut, it has an ignition misfire from a spark pkug wire they damaged, The power steering makes a horrible noise and somebody got into my glovebox and put the cd face back on the cd player for some reason and 2 of the tools I had left in the truck are now MISSING. All of this and I cant do a thing about it because we are definitely not gonna take the truck back to them so they can put my life in danger with their carelessness again or steal some more of my stuff. NO NO NO NO NO DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE FOR ANY REASON. You will almost certainly regret it. We definitely do! read more

I was riding my bike past Midas when my foot slipped on the peddle and I cut got a pretty good cut on my shin. I couldn't get the blood to stop by applying pressure for several minutes. So, I thought I should ask inside Midas if they had a bandaid. When I went inside to inquire the owner of Midas in Bellingham, WA on the Guide Meridian calmly and immediately took care of my wound with a large flexible bandaid and antiseptic spray. DO NOT COME HERE! Took my car in when it was misfiring. They "diagnosed" it for $90+ and told me what needed to be fixed. Over $1600 later, I picked up my car. MY BIG MISTAKE WAS PAYING THEM BEFORE GETTING INTO MY CAR! Got into my car to leave and .... SAME PROBLEM! I had one of their mechanics sit in my car and listen to it mis-firing. Agreed to take my car back & have them RE-DIAGNOSE it. Kevin told me they could find NOTHING WRONG with my car! Ended up taking it to Bellingham Auto, who was able to fix the problem (which had NOTHING TO DO with what Midas had done) for $90.00. Apparently my ignition wires had been zip-tied together! (How did that happen!?) Bellingham Auto told me Midas likely did not have the expertise to fix my car. Now the Midas Credit Card company (Comenity Bank) still wants their $1600+ since I can't prove that my car didn't need the things Midas did to my car (2 engine mounts, etc). I'm a regular high spending customer of this Midas location. I called the day before for an appointment,& wasn't told that I can't sit and wait in the Lobby,for my car to get done,because of the covid. When I got there at 8am,it was 40F outside and the manager was very snarky rude to me that I had to leave and come and get my car later. I told him I have nowhere to go & I told him I will wear a mask.He coud'nt care a rats & I had to sit outside in the parking lot for an hour and a half in 40f weather,good thing I had a camping chair in my car. I know this a tough time now,but 1 ) If my money is good enough to keep their business going, 2) why are the employees not wearing masks & gloves to protect the customers if they are so concerned about covid & when they go inside your car without sanitizing their hands,or wearing gloves? 3)If they want to survive as a business in this time customer service is of utmost importance & Protecting people comes from both sides. read more

Completely flimflammed! I needed tires for my truck. I researched the ones I wanted and found that Midas was running a special so I ordered them through their website and was even able to make the appointment online. This was a Saturday and I was able to schedule an appointment the following Friday. I received a confirmation of the tires I ordered with the estimate the following day. Then the day after that I received a 2 word email from the shop "tue 900am". Well Tuesday wasn't going to work for me so I called the shop and rescheduled for the Saturday the following week. I called the Friday prior to that to confirm my appointment and was told my tires hadn't arrived so we rescheduled for the next Saturday. Three weeks in I call again to confirm my appointment and voila my tires are in see you tomorrow. Woohoo! I arrive at the shop at the agreed upon hour and wait 30 minutes for them to notice me. I tell him I have an appointment and my name. He looks it up and says okay let me just print up the invoice. He prints it up and says, "Okay that's for the tires and an alignment" I say. "No, I didn't order an alignment" "You don't need a alignment"? I say. "No" He says okay and edits the invoice, slides it over and says that's for the tires and actually it will be about 8 dollars more as he forgot to add a charge. I say "okay, but these aren't the tires I ordered" I show him my email confirmation with the tires I ordered. He goes back to the computer and says, "Okay if you really want these tires I can have them in by Monday, but you'll have to prepay for them to take advantage of the special". He then goes on about the merits of the tires they were prepared to put on my vehicle. I told him to cancel and he thanked me. Greasy. I would recommend a two-fisted colonoscopy before dealing with this crew. read more

Scheduled an appointment for brake inspection. Quoted me 1 hr - called 2 hours later, they said 10 more min. I head on over there - another 45 minutes. Guy takes 15 minutes to go over quote with me and they still aren't done. Come to find out they cross-threaded one of my lug nuts when changing my brakes, had to buy a new one. In addition, after inspecting my brakes for 5 minutes, my former mechanic friend immediately noticed my ripped boot and fluid spraying. Y'all. Do not go here for anything other than muffler work. I took my Impala in to get checked over and an additional oil change after running off the road pretty significantly to make sure everything was ok and I wouldn't have an accident due to a damaged part or something I hadn't seen. They kept it for a day or two, when I picked it up they said they checked it over, any and all damage was cosmetic and not to worry. I trusted then at a later date I noticed they charged me for an oil change and never even changed my oil! As a rule when I go to the mechanic I don't let on that I know as much about cars as I do. I'm not an expert but I know it doesnt take 6 hours just to put on 2 brake shoes. . Appointment was at 9:30 and it's now just shy of 3pm. They've been working on it since 1030. I've had it. We got brand new tires and was told it would take a few hours, 8-9 hrs go by. The tire sensor wouldn't go off, we called and they said it usually takes a bit. Couple weeks goes by and we bring it in, they said they couldn't figure it out. Didn't say or offer anything. We took it to Toyota and they said it looks like they swapped out your tire sensors with new ones that aren't compatible without telling us they did that which explains why it took so long. We get it fixed and wanted to get reimbursed and the owner immediately said he's not paying that. We didn't give them a chance to match it or fix it even though they gave us no option of that, couldn't figure it out last time and lied/hid the fact that they removed or broke our old tire sensors. After a heated argument, he eventually took our bill so he could call around then gave us some money back since he found a cheaper place further south. Never again read more

Very bad company called at 9 am to setup a tire replacement with Pat due to being on a doughnut and was told I could bring it in at 2pm and have the tire replaced I drive up from everson on my spare tire to get it replaced just to be told they do not stock tires at Midas and every tire they use to replace is brought from a storehouse in Kent I am then told that mistakes happen and they can't help me and am told if I want same day service to go somewhere else which I wish I had just done from the start instead of spending the day expecting them to help me just to have them be unprofessional, unreasonable and completely unhelpful be cautious using their service and take thier own advice that they gave me and just go somewhere else. read more

I came in with what I thought was a bad battery. Note: You're correct in assuming I am not an auto mechanic which would be the reason why I stopped at Midas. They put in a new battery and afterwards I said I need to test the old battery to ensure that it surely was dead. Turns out it still has a lot life in it and then they test the alternator and determine it's the alternator that I need and not the battery. I tell them I need an alternator then and not a battery. I ask to take the new battery out of my car (takes like three minutes) and put the old one back so I can put that money towards a new alternator. Too late they say the battery is already installed and they won't take a battery back once installed (even after five minutes) as if it's already worn underwear. I insist that they return the battery as they've provided me with something I don't in fact need. I am told they put in a battery because that's what I said I needed. I tell them I'm not a mechanic. They say I should have asked for some idiotic $50 diagnostic test instead. We went back and forth before I just gave up. Now I have an extra battery that I'm not sure when or if I will ever need. If you go there be sure not to suggest anything because they won't think for themselves and find out if you're suggestion has merit. This place is horrible so just steer clear of Midas. I called last Friday to see if I could get an oil change that day. Owner says he is booked until Monday. I schedule an appt for 2pm Monday, show up on time. After waiting 15 minutes for the owner to finish with customers and phone calls he takes my keys and says it will take an hour and a half. I go to Barnes and Noble next door for the next 2 hours, and walk back. After waiting 20 min in line and for the owner to stop answering phone calls (75% of the calls coming in at this time (about 6 calls) were told to wait on hold), I finally get a chance to ask if my car is done and sure enough they didn't even move it from where I parked it over 2 hours earlier. I got a $19.99 oil change coupon in the mail. It cost me $29.34? I made a appointment for 10:30 he said give him an hour. It was done at 2? The underwriter was nice....but he had some serious time management issues. I went to check my truck in and he proceeded to clean the office as I stand there. It took so long to just pay for my truck? I think management needs to look at the customer service aspect of the front desk. He needs some help. My truck was not vacuumed, the Windows and mirrors weren't cleaned, and there were oil finger prints on my steering wheel. I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

There is no place to park and cars are being driven over to pier 1 and left in there parking lot. 20 minutes to get checked in and 2 hours for an oil change. My car was never turned off correctly so my lights and battery was still running. Stuff was let in my car and no sticker on when to get another oil change. Will not be back here! I showed up 20 minutes early for my appointment, didn't get checked in til after my scheduled time, was told an hour and ten. Went to Barnes and Noble, browsed the entire store, came back as it'd been more than the time Pat said, and it looked like they had JUST put my car in. Here I am, still waiting, 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time. Pat does not seem to be able to hear anyone, or really know what's going on. And at this point I am failing to see the point in even making an appointment. How hard is it, really? Don't tell me to make an appointment if you can't even stick to it. Since this location is open on Sundays, it was the only option for me. I had an extra set of tires in my vehicle that needed new tires on the rims. They mounted the tires, but they did not balance the wheels. Also, I was charged for new valve stems which were never installed. I've had service done for custom exhausts at Midas on Guide Meridian three different times on several cars, and Bruce has always done excellent work. Most recently, Bruce installed a Corsa Performance Exhaust on my 2017 vehicle. As before, perfect job with great attention to detail, including spot welding key fixtures to ensure a better, more permanent fit. As far as service, Kevin is always on the ball, super helpful and courteous, gets your job scheduled as soon as possible, and then gives you an accurate estimation as to when the job will be done and what it will cost. The second time that it happened we took the vehicle for a second opinion and the ASE mechanic went over the items on Midas' quote/problem list and found no serious problems like they claimed. Terrible. My car up and broke down in the middle of the guide during rush hour; SO STRESSFUL! I towed it to the closest shop, which was this location. They kept it for a couple days then called saying it was a battery and alternator issue. They quoted $800!! What a joke! Alternator is $170 retail, battery about the same. I know it takes about an hour of labor. So pretty much double the actual cost! We said no thanks, and they said "I thought you were desperate". I can't make this stuff up. So we towed it back home and my husband ended up fixing just the alternator in 45 minutes and it's working. Don't let them scam you or take advantage of you! read more

I ordered new tires online and they were delivered to Midas for installation. It was my first experience with Midas, and it went so smoothly - what a relief! Kevin was extremely helpful through the entire process, figured out a tire gauge problem, and finished up an hour before expected. And the price for installation was pleasantly reasonable! I had to get my brakes fixed on my Mini pronto. I went to The Guide Midas and told them exactly what I needed and they did a full inspection and then gave me an idea of the price. And although the price to get my brakes fixed was crazy high, I know it was cause of my car and the condition of the brakes. They did a great service and had my car ready when I promised. In a time of need when I thought that I was completely stuck Patrick came on his day off on a Sunday just to help me out and repair my car and saved me a huge bunch of trouble. This type of action not only shows the extremely high level of service and standards that Patrick sets but also the high level of humanity and willingness to help another person. I called and scheduled an appointment for 1:00pm to have my brakes inspected. Once there I was told it would be 1-1.5 hours before they knew what was wrong and could provide a quote. No problem. At 3:07 pm I called inquiring about their findings. The gentleman on the phone told me," Your car is being pulled into the bay now, so I don't have anything for you yet." No problem. I know they close at 5:00pm so I drove over to their shop. I arrived at 3:45pm and the technician is walking out to my car, which is still parked where I left it, to take it for a drive. He then drove it into the bay. I told the guy at the front desk to let the technician know that he doesn't need to place my car on the lift because I wanted my car. The guy at the front desk relayed the message and gave me my key. I understand that repair shops can be busy places, but to be dishonest about the process is completely unacceptable. If it's going to take longer than you originally thought inform me of that. Don't tell me my car is being inspected when in fact it isn't. If you're dishonest about this simple process what else will you be dishonest about? I'll never take another vehicle to this shop. read more

They changed oil and replaced the brakes of my Mercedes. It costed $700. When I drove it says high oil and the brakes smelled so bad and oil leaked. I brought back to them. They told that I have to pay $600 to replace 2 hoses. I argued with them they never happened before when you changed oil you broke the hoses. I brought my car to Mercedes dealer. They checked and didn't see anything. They said it leaked because they filled a lot of oil. Oil change is easy job I don't know why they made mess. I don't recommend to go there read more

The workers were helpful and accommodating. There is only one person checking people in, cashing people out, and answering phone calls. That's a lot of work for one person and he handled it as fast as humanly possible. They were able to diagnose and fix my problem in two hours, giving me several options in different price ranges. 5 stars for friendly, awesome service. read more

It's been a couple years, so maybe ownership/management has changed, I don't know. But I felt totally ripped off when I had some brake work done at Midas on Meridian. The labor estimate looked OK, but before I agreed to the work, I asked if the cost of the parts would be greatly inflated or reasonably close to what I could buy them for at the auto parts store. I was assured that Midas's markup would be minimal: they'd buy wholesale, then markup to a bit more than what I would pay retail. That sounded fine. I just didn't want to pay something like $120 for two rotors when I could buy the exact same two rotors across the street at O'Reilly for $37. But that is exactly what happened. Midas marked up the parts triple in some cases, double in others. Hundreds of dollars in total. I showed the manager quotes from Napa, O'Reilly, and Auto Zone. But I got zero adjustment from Midas. I ate the inflated price, but they lost a customer for life. read more

My car suddenly died on me. I took it to Midas & the cause ended up taking some serious investigation! The issue was ultimately found & corrected. While I'm thankful my car was fixed, I'm giving Midas a rave review for the customer service. Every price was explained to me beforehand, and it ended up costing less than originally quoted. I initially took my car home on day two, after the problem was still a mystery & couldn't be reproduced (so we were hoping it was a fluke), but it started acting up worse than before. I took it back in & the owner was just awesome. It SUCKS to lose your transport unexpectedly, but if it does happen to you, I'd highly recommend the Bellingham Midas on Meridian St. read more
