William helped me out so much and has made me a lifetime customer at Midas. After being at two different businesses I called Midas at almost 4 pm yesterday. I asked if they had enough time to check my brakes since they close at 6 and they said yes. When I got there they immediately asked for my contact information and what I needed to have done on my car. After stating the screeching noise of my rear brakes they took my keys. I waited maybe 20 minutes for them to check my car and they also helped a customer that was there before me (not bad at all I expected to wait much longer). They told me I had to replace the rear brake pads and the rotor. The price wasn't cheap so I did ponder on it. At the beginning William did disclose if I had nothing done on the car I would still have to pay $30 for labor. He said if I do decide to go ahead with the services the next day he'd have the $30 as a deposit and waive it from the final payment. They pulled my car out and after thinking about it I went forth to just have them fix the brake pads and rotor. Mainly because they offered a lifetime warranty for brake pads nationwide and William was very patient with me. I gave them my keys back apologizing but William did not seem angry at all. They said the service would take an hour and a half. At the time it was 4:30 pm and when I asked if it was too late for them to fix everything today he quickly called his vendor to see if they can deliver my parts. Thankfully they did and my car was done at 5:40 pm. I was very impressed with his professionalism and determination to deliver great customer service. Left home in my car only to find one of my tires was extremely low due to the cold. I stopped at Midas and asked if I could be helped. I made an appointment for and oil change and they had no record of it when I got there. There was nobody working at the front desk so the guy in the back had to wait on customers. They were able to do my oil change. He asked if I had brakes done on the car. I told him I bought it in May of this year (it's a 2019). He said you're going to need front brakes and quoted around $600. I said I'll need to look at my schedule, how soon? He said within a month. I decided to take it to a REAL mechanic and they just told me I have 70% left on the front and 80% on the back! I was glad to hear that but fuming that Midas was trying to rip me off!!! Steer clear of this business!!! At least I have a trustworthy place to take my vehicle to now. Some people are still honest. read more

Yesterday right before I was heading into my hour long commute a light went on my car indicating something was wrong with my back tire. Moments later I noticed this place and pulled in. The guy working at the counter couldn't have been nicer. He agreed to immediately check out my car and didn't make me wait one second. He checked air pressure in all 4 tires and a few other things. He explained everything was fine and due to the weather change this light was on. I was so relieved. To top it all off he didn't charge me one cent for his diagnostic service. Wow. I am so grateful. I tried this place about a month ago because the place I used to go to is farther than I'd like now, so I thought I'd give Midas a try. After making a visit here, I won't be back. I was having issues with my tire deflating so I made an appointment to have someone check it out. After waiting 20 minutes, one of the guys working there wanted to show me what he thought was wrong with my car. He said that the tread on my tires was fine on the outside but thinning on the inside and I'd need new tires with an alignment to go with it. I didn't see it, so I asked him to explain why he thought this about my car. He said I would need new front struts (suspension stuff) and rear shocks. I knew I didn't need new shocks because my car had been riding smoothly and I remembered having a bunch of suspension work the previous year. When I told him I had suspension work done already, he took it off the estimate and said I should still consider getting the struts replaced. I decided to get a second opinion about my tires. They said my tires were great, along with everything else, and the cause of my tire deflating was the valve used to fill my tires with air. I haven't had an issue since this valve was replaced. read more

I went there because my battery light was on. I had the alternator and battery replaced. Did i really need both replaced? My main complaint was the EXTREME cost. Over $1100.00. My car had issues with a tire. At 8 A.M I went to two Firestone stores (Schaumburg & Desplaines) and one neighborhood shop and no one would help me. It was a few hours before a major snowstorm and both of the Firestone stores asked to come back later, which would put me smack in the middle of the storm with a flat! I stopped by Midas as my last hope. I spoke to Moshi (sp?) and explained the tire issue and his immediate response was "we will take a look at it right away. Don't worry, we'll help you" I was so relieved and thankful! Moshi and his crew took very good care of me and sent me on my way before the storm hit! Just went in to get a brake light replaced, and Store Manager William got me in immediately to get this done, even though they were extremely busy! To some, doing something quick regardless of being busy may not sound like a big deal, but it kind of is. I had a stroke, but before that I was a manager at an auto shop myself. If you take care of a lot of people with small things, it can push everything else back. On a day with bad weather and a lot of people coming in for wipers and small bulbs, these small things really add up. With how busy they were, they are still prepared to handle everyone with everything, big and small. Before my stroke, this was my job. I ran a bigger shop, and this is a tricky thing to handle. It's an auto repair shop. But, more importantly, it's the BEST auto repair shop I know. Previously from the auto industry, I know good mechanics and these guys got it down! Scott is my mechanic and he is THE BEST! Go see him for all of your auto repair and maintenance needs. Oil changes at Jiffy Lube are $30 plus....these guys- under $20! Their parking lot is a little difficult to get in and out of, but other than that, they are the best I know in the area. Lets put it this way, if my retired step-father who lives in Huntley drags all his cars there in Arlington Heights, they gotta be good. They are fair on pricing and honest as the day is long. They do not try to sell you air filters and wind shield wipers if you don't need them and don't try to up-sell any services. They just tell you what you need and sometimes, when you can wait until you actually need to do it on the vehicle. Stop by and see Scott for great service and his beautiful face. If I could leave a 0 star I would. I've been going to midas for years and I recently moved and this was the closest one to me now. I had some rattling noise under my car and when I got it back I asked if everything was all good now (it wasn't). I drove it home and had the same noise happening. I needed to get my oil changed so I decided to try this location again and they wanted to charge me $90... I told them no and went to another midas and did the same oil they said for $50. And now my brakes were grinding and I wanted to see if it was different this time. I was told multiple things were wrong with my car, from all my rotors, calipers, and pads needed to be replaced. Brake fluid needed to be flushed, Shocks were in bad shape, transmission needed to be flushed and on. I told him I only needed the brake system to be done and the total was over $1,800. I felt like this was a rip off and drove over an hour to go back to my old midas shop. They said everything on my car was fine except for my brakes and that the total was $850. That's less than HALF the cost. I'll never be going back to this midas shop again and I advise y'all never go either. He's ripping you off. read more

If we want a better human experience, we have to be transparent, we have to be truthful, we have to be considerate. Today, I decided to leave this review in hope that other service members do not repeat this mistake. As a general repair shop with no specialization in a specific car, be careful what you claim to be able to repair or not. MISTAKE #1: Yes, I went in for a serpentine belt replacement, but it wasn't a replacement on a Honda or a Mazda. It's a replacement on the largest Mercedes Benz ever made: Mercedes Benz GL 550 v8 BiTurbo 4Matic. It's about having the right tool for the job. It's not about knowledge. It's here that the problems started. Hands hit the coolant lines to the Turbo and coolant explodes while attempting to put on the belt. MISTAKE#2: This shop fails to alert me of the above issue. My 1-2 Hr job was slowly turning into 6 hr job. I decide to call to check on my car and Dear Steve starts the conversation with "Did you know"? This is everything to me. Admit that during the work, something happened and that you will do your best to get it repaired. Failure to admit, failure to submit to reality, attempt to divert the issue to some unknown mystery. Guys, mistakes happen!!! Come on... Acting like it's by good faith you are repairing an additional problem. MISTAKE #3 Steve called my Benz dealership to buy the part that was broken, he claimed to have repaired it, but returned the car to me while there was no coolant in the car. That's another red flag to hide the continuous leak. I topped the car with coolant, but unfortunately my car started leaking. I then returned the car to them, but this time there's no specific action plan, I have to show up to the shop late afternoon on Friday. I decide then to take rush my car to Benz bc dear MIDAS had no loaner for me. If i don't hurry up to take advantage of a free loaner, I am stranded. Matter of fact, my car overheated on the way to the dealership and had to get towed. MISTAKE #4 Rob the GM apparently is being combative. Apparently, I refused to leave my car at Midas for repair, apparently an Enterprise rental car was arranged for me. In my head, I am thinking "Sir, you still want me to leave my car in your hands for further unknown mishaps knowing you couldn't repair it correctly in the first place, did you pressure test the coolant lines?". Instead of apologizing, the finger is pointed here at me the good customer. It bothers me alot knowing that I have referred alot of business here. Do you really think I want your money or looking to capitalize on your mistakes? We have to be better. We have to learn to take responsibility, we have to know how to treat each other with respect. When all I am asking this location to pay is my repair bill of $963.47 for the 2 coolant lines they broke, it could have been worst. I can ask you to pay for my tow, the 7 days loaner that I had. I can take it further. This very review could have been avoided too. Case is currently with corporate and I will not stop until a fair resolution is reached. I will stop going here and I will no longer refer business here. This is not how you conduct business gentlemen. The truth will set you free!!! read more

This company was suppose to do the work for $2500 and when I went to pay the bill , they said the bill was now 3000. They said they forgot to call me about the change in their cost of the parts before doing the work. I asked to talk the the manager(William) they said,"He wasn't in." (He called me an hour before telling me my van was ready ,so I knew he was hiding.) Only after I threatened to take them to court and write a bad review did they release my van for the quoted price per our contract. Stay away from this Midas, they are total scammers!!! read more

I had a terrible experience from start to finish. First, I call ahead to ask how much the service charge will be to put new license plates on my car. He [not sure what his name is] omits the price telling me to just come in. When I get there, he asks for my car keys, drives my car in, and when he returns tells me it'll be $20. I had no problem paying the fee, but I did not like the fact that he purposefully omitted the price, then drove my car in to prevent me from backing out in a non-awkward way. After that, they put the licenses plates on backwards, so that the square in the front that says "Place sticker on rear plate here" is visible in the front. Never have I ever seen that on any other car. The front plate is supposed to have an indent on the front, while the back plate square is covered with the license plate sticker. The cherry on top is the fact that after all of that, I was charged twice for the horrible service. The following business day I came in to ask them to refund one of the charges and to swap the plates, and this man says that he is not able to because their system only shows one payment. Later that day I call my bank and they say that I was in fact charged twice so why weren't they able to refund me right then and there? Also, this man lies to my face saying there's a square on the back plate as well when I know for a fact there wasn't. Says they can't change it because the sticker will get ripped off. No other car I have ever seen has that stupid square in the front, they all only have an indent. How do you mess up a job as simple as a license plate installation, and then lie when you're confronted about it. I'd give this 0 stars if I could. Go anywhere else but here. read more

When doing business with a service oriented company, what's most important.... SERVICE. Personally I tend to do business with companies that provide me with excellent service. Of course there are other factors, including cost, but I rarely go back to a place that didn't provide excellent service. Steve Hubbell was the store manager that took care of us, and he is an excellent manager. He's got the kind of personality that makes you want to have a conversation with him. We brought my mom's car in for service, and he was really good with her. He explained everything they found, and next steps. We were very satisfied, so I decided to start bringing my own vehicle there. When dealing with Steve, you feel like you're at a small town service station in a town where everyone knows your name. Steve actually remembered me when I walked in. Definitely worth stopping in to see Steve and see what he can do for your vehicle. read more

Stay away from this Midas and Shaun LeFevre (Assistant Manager)! I visited them in early August to get replacement parts installed on my car. When I went to pick up my car I specifically asked if the repair went well and everything was in working order. Shaun said yes (he lied). I went to my car and discovered that the parts were not working. I immediately returned to talk to Shaun and instead of inspecting the car and the repairs, he told me "it must be that your replacement parts are damaged." I asked him 1) why he lied to me and told me everything was fixed and in working order and 2) why didn't he call to tell me the replacement parts were not working! I am positive the replacement parts were fine - he was simply blaming the parts for an awful repair job. Instead of offering to help resolve the situation, he argued with me in front of the other customers. So I asked to speak with another manager. After several minutes Ray (District Manager) called me on the phone and before I even said a word he told me there is nothing he could do for me. I immediately asked Ray to talk to his manager since he was unwilling to listen to me or help me and he refused to provide me with his supervisor's name. I informed him that I would be filling a formal complaint since he was unwilling to provide a contact and he threatened me that filing a complaint wouldn't help me because the complaint would be routed to him and there is nothing he would do for me. Needless to say, I paid hundreds of dollars for a repair that was not completed correctly and they refused to do anything about it. It was clear that Shaun (and Ray) are simply in it for the money and not about providing honest and great service to Midas customers. I am currently in the process of filing a formal complaint with Midas and this will be resolved. I will not be taking advantage of. Save your time, money and stress and stay away from this place! read more

If you're not competent with the mechanics of a car, I would NOT bring your car here. A guy (hispanic male with glasses) addressed me at the front and tried to scam me out of over a 1,000 dollars. The only reason I'm aware that he did is because I had an invoice from another Midas where I was told if the light comes back on to bring it in. The initial invoice was $1,200 in total and the new one at this location was over $2,600 for the same fix plus something new they found with the motor mount. Skeptically, (because of the big price difference and recent replacement of the motor mounts), I asked how much it would be without the motor mount. He informed me slightly over $2,000 (even though he highly recommended getting it fixed) and that lowest he could do was 1,600 with "not the best parts" over the phone. Ended up driving to this location to pick up the car to take it to the original Midas where I had it initially invoiced even though he highly recommended not driving the car and told me he could actually bring the price down to $1,400 which he should have said from the start. End of story, car drove fine and I got it all fixed for $1,200 as originally invoiced. Not only did he waste my time but he wasted my money including the $150 dollar service fee to find out the same thing was wrong with supposedly something else wrong. The original Midas even double checked for me to see if something was wrong with the engine mounts and they found nothing. read more

I've had to replace 4, yes FOUR tires in the past month! They changed my drivers front tire (doughnut) on Monday. Although it was crowded I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time! Then on Thursday I got a flat on the way to work. It was one of those tires from the corner tire store, so who knows.... it was rotted out! That was the front passengers side this time... I was in and out in under a half hour. Very professional and courteous service. read more

CON MEN!! Run don't walk away! Went in for a simple oil change for my 2008 car and was told by the store manager William Odisho that I needed a total rack and pinion replacement along with the right front half shaft removed and replaced. Throw in two tire replacements I was told was needed and an alignment, and the estimate came to a whopping $2,156.03!!!! This after I just went in for a simple oil change! After I picked myself off of the floor - he told me that I was in danger if I continued to drive the car and that I needed to have the repairs done right away. He helpfully offered the Midas credit card -- I could pay off the charges over time at no interest. The next day I went to another car repair shop for a second opinion and was told that my rack and pinion was fine and that I simply needed a boot replacement and a clamp. The estimate was $212. I was also told that my tires would be fine for at least another six months or so. WOW!! Glad I got a second estimate! When I was at Midas I saw several elderly women come in. I wonder if I was told this BS because I'm a woman driving an older car? Hmmmm. Steer away from this joint - they are out to take you to the cleaners!! read more

Was referred by a friend to have parts replaced and have the issues resolved. Should have known better. Not only were they not able to the the job right, make the parts work like they should but because of them, I had to junk my car because it wasn't worth the repair from a real professional place. They knew the car had no gas so what do they do? bang on the gas tank as hard as they could instead of telling me or doing something about it. Punk manager then gets an attitude because I ask for an explanation of why the car is still not working right. Unbelievable bunch of clowns! Avoid going there!! The service was nice everyone was very considerate they turn on the TV for my little one that was with me. but I have to say that it is highly expensive I called a DEALERSHIP! !!! and ask how much it will cost for this synthetic oil that midas said I have to have and the dealership only charges 49.99 they wanted 69.99 and according to the dealership where I bought the car from I don't need synthetic oil in it. I'm very disappointed and how they felt they can take advantage of their customers and although I didn't pay full price because I told him put it down I'll take it somewhere else when they told me how much they offered me a deal and gave it to me for 45 out the door. But the Chevy dealer is telling me that I didn't even need a synthetic oil for the car and in that case I should have only paid 30 for an oil change. good service but your prices are ridiculous I won't be back read more

These guys saved my butt! I came in with a totally busted wheel/shocks/axle and they addressed the situation with total transparency and were very clear on what needed to be done. They explained the costs and were honest about what my car truly needed to get up and running again. never had a problem, the price is a little expensive I think and there aren't really any awesome warranties or guarantees that come with service that justify the additional expenses. I was quote for example $1400 for brakes and struts on a 97 blazer. That's about what the car goes for these days.
