He allowed me to put a deposit on the car and give me first right of refusal. He greeted me as soon as I arrived, handed me the keys and said take it out for a test drive. He showed me the paperwork for what they had done to the car to prepare it, they were very thorough. We then went out together and went through the whole car checking everything. This is not standard practice at most dealerships, especially for a serious buyer. When I declined and asked to proceed with a normal test drive, I was then told that out-of-state buyers were not accepted due to internal policy, because it "takes too long to get paid." This was presented only after I resisted the financing requirement, not upfront. I left without ever being allowed to test drive the car, despite being ready and qualified to buy. The experience felt unnecessarily restrictive and inconsistent with typical car-buying norms. Buyers should clarify test-drive and financing policies in advance, especially if they are out of state.
