Traveling to Albuquerque, NM I encountered a problem with my vehicle and I needed to get to Phoenix. I was staying in Albuquerque overnight. I searched the internet for auto repair facilities near me, and Mango on Comanche Rd showed up with great ratings and reviews. I was at the facility prior to 8:00AM. The facility is welcoming and all associates were also very welcoming. I talked to Michael and he lined up the plan of attack to remedy the issue. Needless to say the staff lived up to the great reviews I read on the internet. My vehicle was inspected and a remedy was identified. They provided a Lyft ride to my hotel and within 3 hours the work was completed and another Lyft ride was enroute to pick me up. I absolutely recommend this facility and staff for anyone needing auto repairs. Mango staff was professional, pleasant, and care about people in need. Don't Get Scammed - A $5,300 "Repair" Trap I Narrowly Avoided I brought my 2016 Honda Civic (137k miles) in a few months ago because it was making clunking noises over bumps. I scheduled an appointment with Mango Automotive, dropped the car off, and got a call from the mechanic about an hour later saying he'd found the problem. When I went in for the quote, they hit me with a $5,356.08 estimate. According to them, my suspension was rusting out, the engine mount was cracked, the control arms were falling apart, and more. The only item that actually made sense was new tires. I was stunned. I told them to hold off and left in disbelief. The next few days were stressful as I scrambled to figure out how I'd get to work and pay for what I thought were major repairs. Thankfully, I did some research online and found a highly regarded independent shop that looked promising . I booked an appointment and deliberately didn't mention the previous quote, I wanted completely fresh eyes. These guys were honest, thorough, and professional from the start. When they called with the diagnosis, I couldn't believe it, the clunking was just the spare tire in the trunk bouncing around because the hold-down cap was missing, plus a loose battery in the front that wasn't properly secured. That was it. I told them what Mango had quoted me. The mechanic looked genuinely shocked and said my car was in great shape overall and needed no major work. I happily paid them about $300 (including a transmission fluid change) and drove away relieved. I almost dropped over five thousand dollars on completely unnecessary repairs. This experience left me convinced that Mango Automotive was trying to take advantage of me. Please do your research, get second opinions on big-ticket repairs, and trust your gut. Took my car in for what seemed like a simple A/C issue. They claimed to diagnose the whole system and didn't find any major issues. So they replaced the missing Freon, charged me $340 (tried to charge me $550 with the diagnosis which was $200 over what I was quoted, but "took that off" since I was quoted wrong). Found out my A/C still blew hot air! So took back a second time and was told they had to replace some relay part and they didn't charge for that. Still blew hot air! Brought it back the third time and they "finally" found I needed another part, which should've been found during the initial diagnosis they claimed to do. So now they want to charge me another $600 to empty the system again and replace that part. Basically if they really would've diagnosed the first time I could've had that part replaced during the first $340 Freon replacement. Instead they wanted to charge me again to empty it and replace the part they didn't notice the first time. It all seemed fishy and I have zero trust in this place. What's even more upsetting is they wasted my Diesel (which ain't cheap!) and time going back 3 times! So inconsiderate and super weird that they don't just test the A/C to see if it's cold before saying it's done. Took my business elsewhere. read more

Beware of scammer. I tried to just get an alignment. They refused to do the alignment and said before they do it they need to replace these parts. the problem is that I already replaced the parts they were talking about. so there should be no reason why they cant do the alignment but no they just want to try to get me to buy parts for no reason. I explained what I thought was going on and our compressed travel schedule. Felix was wonderful, said they would do everything they could to make the repairs. Before I write this review for Mango Automotive I want to explain my prior relationship with the prior business, The Mechanic LLC. Chuck was the owner of the prior business and he had sound business practices and he earned my trust. I have a 2006 Subaru Forester with about 185k miles. I moved to Albuquerque in 2020 and needed a mechanic when my car overheated. I searched and liked the reviews for The Mechanic. That began my relationship with them. Fast forward to Mango Automotive. So it looks like they have purchased three shops in the Albuquerque area one of them is at Comanche and Morris my location. I have had one visit so far, and I did call to find out if Chuck was still there and he is not. However, some of the older personnel were retained and so I called to talk to David about the situation with my car. He is a very attentive and good listener. Last week, my car was overheating, and I suspected that the car needed a new thermostat. David suggested that they do a pressure test and told me that would cost $59. I approved the work. He called me back within a couple of hours and said yes definitely a new thermostat would be needed. He also told me that my radiator hoses were swollen and needed to be replaced he gave me a total of everything and I was a little shocked at the pricing to be honest. However, I was not in a position to start looking around at other places since my car was already there and I couldn't really drive it since it was overheating. I got another call from David saying that they ordered the parts for my car but that there was one other hose that was swollen and needed to be replaced. I trusted them based on my prior relationship with the other business and asked them to go ahead and just fix everything and call me when the car was done my total for parts and labor was right around $600. They did have a coupon that i used which saved me $100 before taxes. The first positive thing about Mango (over the prior business) is that they have a computerized system where all repair details are maintained. They also provide a very detailed receipt of work upon completion. Since the pricing details are listed for each item that they repaired, I can tell that their costs for parts are right on point and very reasonable. I am glad that they still offer shuttle service within a radius of about three to four miles. The same staff is there which is great. I still trust them and I will go back but in the future I might need to get a couple more quotes on work whereas in the past I would not have. Another thing that I did like about the old business and I'm assuming is the same with the new business is that they do not waste your time and doing a full check on your entire vehicle when you come in for minor service. Overall, was I pleased with the service on the car? Yes. Did I trust that what needed to was done? Yes, Did I like the final costs? I am not sure. read more

My vehicle was overheating and there was a hole in the radiator. I was told it would take 3 days & cost would be $1,100. The following week the price went up and extra $800.00 & 3 to 4 more days of work, they decided to put in new wiring. Then they wanted to work on the fuel system, and it took over a month. Over one month to get my truck back but not all the problems were worked out. Getting the truck back only to take it back the next day due to them not putting all the parts back in and issues with wiring that they worked on. The third time they worked on my truck they took one week, they also lied about working on the truck because it was outside. I am still having issues with the wiring and the fuel. Total cost was over $4,000.00 in the end. I would NEVER recommend Mango Automotive. read more

Selected this business because it is women owned. Perhaps the women should run it. Seems things aren't that organized. Called and scheduled an appointment for Monday 8:30am. Day 1 - Monday Arrived at 8am to drop off early, business opened 30 minutes late - I understand things happen, so I let it slide. Person behind counter took keys not once asking anything. Did not hear anything all day Monday. Day 2 - Tuesday Called in the morning to find out status and was told my vehicle was next to be looked at. They called back to ask what they were needing to look at. Did not hear anything else all day. Called again at the end of the day and told a quote was forthcoming. Received quote, approved it, said it would be done the next day. Day 3 - Wednesday Finally received a call but to tell me the quote was wrong and the cost would now be twice the original quote. Approved the quote and asked when the vehicle would be ready. Told it should be by end of day. Called at the end of the day to find out status told it might be ready by the end of the day or first thing in the morning. Day 4 - Thursday Called in the morning to find out when I could pick up my vehicle and was told it would be ready in the afternoon. Called in the afternoon and was told they were wrapping up and could pick up before close. Communication would have been a great thing. Don't wait till the customer calls/contacts you. Be proactive will cause less aggravation and frustration with the customers. Many customers in the lobby complaining. One customer had the wrong work done because lack of communication. read more

They took our car quickly and diagnosed the problem quickly and got the part and repaired and tested our car so we were back on the road to Oklahoma to see one of our daughters graduate college. This was my first visit and I was not happy with the pricing. The diagnostic takes less than 5 minutes to perform and I was charged $168.95 for it. I also had a labor fee of $35.28 to remove the gas cap and put a new one on. The gas cap costs $19.99. So to replace my gas cap the total was over $250.00!!! For a gas cap that I could have gotten at Napa but trusted my neighbor shop. I should know better because automotive shops are notorious for women getting ripped off. Customer service was friendly enough but vague about diagnostic pricing. I am not going back here again. Put your pricing up online and in the store for transparency. Very disappointed. read more

I was hit on the passenger side of my Lexus RX 330 about a year ago. I had just had my power steering and brakes fixed at PEP BOYS the day before when a young woman ran a stop sign and plowed right into me. It was an ongoing, months-long nightmare getting the insurance company to admit liability and cover all the repairs, because they claimed the brakes and power steering issues were the fault of PEP BOYS, and PEP BOYS couldn't honor the warranty because of the accident. Recently it got to the point where I was refilling my power steering fluid on a daily basis, but I am happy to say with full confidence that all the issues I had were diagnosed and repaired in one day, for less than several other repair shops I looked into. As a woman it is so common to be scammed by repair shops, so it is great to know this place is woman owned, retaining all the knowledgeable original staff, and cares about transparency and customer service. Even small stuff I didn't ask for, like missing lug nuts, were located and installed quickly and professionally, and the car was cleaner than when I brought it in! 500 plus for front brake rotor and pad change wow ya'll are definitely in the business of trying to take advantage of people's misfortunes I just saw a YouTube video guy did it with a handful of simple tools in less then 20 minutes. A woman could change the brakes. I just payed $100 for rotor amd pads at most this is 150 so labor is 350=400 for a half hours worth of work surprised you guys don't have gold floors. People don't come here if u want to save 300 plus I suggest Allen's automotive which routes range from 150-300 max. Or vitae auto repair quotes 150=250 300 max as well. read more

The photo shown above is Chuck the former owner, this place is now owned and run by Mango Automotive, Not nearly as cheap, honest and helpful as it was under Chuck. Evidently its the same technicians and Chuck drops by often to talk with them. I got an estimate for a brake job, pad & rotors turned, I thought it was too high, on the way out I ran into Chuck, and he thought it was pretty high too. It was $1,200, and he thought $800 would have been more reasonable. When they did the brake check, a free service, they didn't find many other OBVIOUS things wrong (to the tune of $800, parts only, priced retail, re-built, salvage yard, not repair shop marked up, hate to see what it would have been including labor, I did all the work. Bet you anything if they got the brake job they would have found those other things wrong, and say "while we have it, we might as well do this and that". For the brake check, they had to remove all four tires, so I asked them to put them back on rotated. They wanted $29 to do that. Talking with Mango execs they said that was wrong and it would be corrected. My two star rating, as you can see, is generous. read more
