We had a plumbing issue with leaking water from my toilet as well as the cleanout. Our house was built in 1986 and was not maintained well. After getting quotes from multiple reputed vendors, we decided to go with Mid Peninsula. They did a wonderful job at reasonable pricing and everyone that we worked with have been extremely knowledgeable, kind, supportive, and good-hearted. Issac the owner and Rick the plumbing specialist, rather than creating unnecessary work and expensive upsell (which for a lot of new home owners is a lot of added stress) pointed out the exact issue and the most sensible solutions, and quickly fixed the issue. This is one of my first time leaving a review on Yelp, and I feel obligated to do so. I cannot recommend Mid Peninsula Plumbing highly enough. Thanks again! read more

Quick, responsive (even over a holiday weekend) and helped us get our plumbing back in order!

Been using this place for years. Reliable, patient, timely and good quality! Isaac has been super patient with me and my many questions! He has always taken the time to try and figure out the easiest most efficient and ideal fix for our needs ranging from leaky toilets, installing a new toilet, drain issues, refrigerator water connections and most recently water shut off valves! Jordan has been our specialist the past several times and he is kind, fast and skilled at his job. We really appreciate all you have done to keep our house running smoothly and completing the least invasive but successful jobs. Thank you MidPeninsula plumbing. read more

Jordan came out and fixed a pipe, our disposal, and an issue with our water heater in legit RECORD time, 10-15m. He was nice and polite, on time, wore his mask the whole time, and checked out the general "under the sink situation" for me before heading out. Really thrilled and will basically just keep him on speed dial. Thanks team! read more

Ivan came to our house very quickly after our pipes were backed up. He was professional and checked that all of the other pipes were cleared out. The work was done in less than an hour and the pricing was fair. We will definately use MidPenisula Plumbing again. read more

We hired Tom's company to replace the pipes in our new home in Foster City about a year ago. The work was done in a timely manner and very professionally. Our house had paper laid out where they needed to work and all the pathways... which honestly we weren't too worried about because we hadn't moved into our home yet. We loved the results. And boy did we need it. Our water pressure was non-existent and it wasn't until after we had the pipes replaced did we notice the difference. We had to put restrictors in our shower because it felt like a firehose. One of the most noticeable effects was how quickly the toilet water refilled. All of this is great but it was what he did recently that compelled me to write this review. Our daughters room had this musty smell that we couldn't figure out. I got to a point where I wanted to buy a gas detector to figure out what it was. Her room was next to the water heater and I wondered if there was gas leaking through the wall perhaps. I recalled that Tom's team had to move and disconnect the water heater to change the pipes. I called him again and would have been willing to pay him for a visit to check it out. My guess was perhaps that it might have been the condition of the input gas line. He basically said he'd be there the next morning to check it out. Promptly the next morning, he thoroughly checked the line and the input and even expelled some gas to let me know the difference. A year after his initial job, Tom himself was willing to come out, check things out, and put our concerns to rest. I will be recommending him to all of my neighbors (who have been complaining of really bad water pressure because of their older pipes). read more

I called them out again this week - same great job. This time, Rus came out. Somehow, the toilet got loose from the floor (toilets have their own lives, so how this happened is a mystery). Rus had to re-engineer the flange on the floor - now it's tight once again. Also, when I called, the owner, Tom answered the phone. Rus appeared at 8 am the next morning. Another 5 stars for this company! read more

Tom was one of the first plumbers to respond to my quote inquiry. In my inquiry, I fully described the work I had already completed to try and resolve clogs in a bathroom that included a tub, sink, and toilet. Of the five plumber responses I received, he was the only to describe what he thought the problem was and how he would seek to resolve it. I also reached out to plumbers who advertised on Craigslist. Unfortunately, I wasn't at home to sit and chat with the plumbers to get their estimates after I made the appointment, but my roommate was and she indicated Tom was the kindest and most helpful of the ones she met. His rates are straightforward, which is fair to the owner or tenant, and fair to the plumber. He charges an hourly rate, and if he needs to access the main (take your toilet off it's base and snake the main) it's just one additional charge, not an entirely different rate. On the day of the appointment I was there to meet him in person. He initially gave an estimate of three hours over the phone, but was out in one hour even though there was a lot of debris he had to remove. The estimate was based on his experience and was the average of the most commonly seen problem in both simple and difficult situations. Of all the plumbers I called, his ending service charge was either 50% less or 200% less than what I was being quoted. *Tip. It's always a gamble in trying to fix a clog because it could be simple and inexpensive (debris caused) or complex (defect in the pipes or tree roots). If you have a feeling it's a simple issue, go with the hourly rate. If you really think it's complex, go with the quote but beware different plumbers may decide to charge on top of that even after you and the plumber agree on the work to be done. read more

I wish I could rate them higher because the owner and service man we're both really nice. But the cost and the charges were way off. I had a leak at an irrigation pipe outside my house for my sprinklers. The service man tighten the pipe and the leak stopped but said there was still a crack and the pipe could leak again in2 months to 8 months so I had it replace. Good job. Then I got the bill and I was charged for 2 1/2 hours to fix the pipe? I was told my time started from the time he left his previous job which was in SF and I live in Redwood City, actually the same city the plumbers office is located. I called to get an explanation and was told they would review the service man's paperwork but that was a week ago and I haven't heard a thing even though I texted them a few times. Too bad cuz I was looking for a new plumber to call since my previous plumber no longer does plumbing work just HVAC. read more

I've used Mid Peninsula Plumbing for about five years, give or take, for various issues. Some big; some small. Most recently Tom really went above and beyond for a big problem we had. I had some major problems that required fixing before some new tenants moved in and he was able to get it all done on time despite short notice. I can't thank him enough. Usually Russ is the one that comes to my house and he is amazingly talented. He has decades of experience and seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of plumbing. Maybe it just seems that way since I don't know anything about plumbing :) but a couple of times he was able to fix things that two other plumbers couldn't. read more

During recent work on the house, I once again called Tom when we needed a new toilet in the renovated down stairs powder room. He arrived on time and quickly completed the installation without having to disrupt the other workers in the middle of their job. What more can you ask for? Mid Peninsula Plumbing is my plumber of choice. I highly recommend Tom and his crew; fast, friendly, professional service, he treats every job as if he was doing it for himself. read more

I worked with Tom initially to get pricing for work on 2 bathroom remodels I was doing... he provided the estimate quickly and ultimately, the price I paid matched the estimate exactly (i.e., no extra/hidden charges). Throughout the process, Tom was always extremely quick to respond either via text, phone or email which is rare in this day where it is a struggle to get people to respond. He worked with me throughout the remodels to make sure he always has someone available to do work without delaying the rest of the process since there were other contractors involved (tile guys, electricians, etc.) We had 2 different plumbers from Mid Peninsula come out and we found Russ to be outstanding b.c he had a very good attention to detail and has many years of plumbing experience. When we had a couple minor issues after the main work was complete (one toilet was slightly off center and there was a small leak in one new shower head), Tom and Russ came out to inspect everything the morning after I contacted Tom, and Russ fixed everything the same day to our satisfaction and even helped fix another toilet handle for no charge. Tom is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and helped provide suggestions on materials before the project even began which was very helpful. Response time was incredibly fast and pricing was fair... I will definitely use Mid Peninsula for any future plumbing work! read more

Tom was very professional and nice over the phone which was why I chose to go with him initially. It is also the reason why I have gone with 2 stars instead of 1 star. Unfortunately, my experience with his company has been quite unpleasant. Since this is my first experience using a contractor, I made some early mistakes as well. Maybe more experienced homeowners will have less problems. Use at your own discretion. Description of experience: 1. Initial visit to give price estimate was verbal only. I did not know to request for a written price quote. This led to later arguments over how much I should pay and I ended up paying an additional 400+ dolars for labor and still had to pay another plumbing company $8000 to make my house liveable again. 2. Tom initially quoted me $2300 to fix a hot water leak. While fixing hot water leak, attempted to fix a sewer pipe leak without first consulting me. This led to subsequent problems where they could not reconnect the sewer pipe and I eventually paid over $8000 additional dollars to a different company to fix the problem. 3. Could not subsequently give me a straight answer on how to fix the sewer pipe leak. Mentioned prices upwards to $30,000 and tearing down half the living room and bathroom floors. Subsequent consultation with other plumbing companies gave me very direct answers of how it can be fixed by simply building a new sewer pipe line for less than $9000. 4. When I asked Tom about the solution of routing new sewer line through driveway, he told me it would be extremely difficult to get city permit. He also mentioned he was close to people on the city board and could get the permit but was unsure about other companies. I subsequently went to San Mateo city hall and it was VERY EASY to get a permit and took 30 minutes. 5. When hot water pipe was "fixed", I called him mentioning there was hardly any hot water in the bathroom and he came by on a Saturday (which was nice) but told me there was no issues and that the primary issue was the valve was old. The plumber working under him later came by later and found that some pebbles had gotten into the pipe and was blocking flow of hot water. I have no experience in this but should this have been something he had checked instead of telling me it was the valve? 6. Took a very long time (roughly 2 weeks) to get me receipts on the work so I can process through my insurance claim. When things were finally cleared and work on the hot water pipe was completed, called me the very next day asking for payment in 1 day. I don't think this is reasonable at all. I had to write an email citing CA civil code 3260 after consulting with my company lawyer. Final payment to him was made 4 days later (including a weekend) so I had some time to verify the work had no further problems. I would summarize by saying when Tom was in agreement with me, he was very courteous and professional. I'm sure he's a nice person but if things in the project go wrong, prepare to face alot of potential problems. I also question if some statements he makes are exaggerations or not entirely truthful. read more

Mid Peninsula Plumbing basically re-plumbed our entire house last year... we're talking all new copper pipes, gas lines were moved around, he even installed our fixtures, tub, toilet, disposer, and fridge. He did a lot of work for us. Tom Gara, the owner, is awesome. He is very trustworthy, professional, knowledgeable, and works quickly. He showed up when he said he would and he did everything right the first time. Every bit of work that he did passed inspection with no problems at all. The inspector actually commented on how good the plumbing work looked. We really trust the work Tom did and the greatest part is it was all done for a great price. I absolutely recommend Peninsula Plumbing for whatever plumbing needs you have. read more

Isaac with Mid Peninsula Plumbing applied a trenchless pipe replacement to the sewer main of my mixed-use building in the Commercial-Downtown district of Half Moon Bay. I first met him when he performed a camera scan on the broken sewer lateral within 24 hours after contacting him. After that first experience, I felt fortunate to have met him and wanted him to make the repairs. It goes without saying that he and his crew did an excellent job on the technical work of the repair, keeping the jobsite organized and clean, and managing multiple subs and the permit/inspection process. But what sets Isaac and MPP apart is project management expertise. My repair required first securing an easement from my neighbor. Isaac provided clear documentation to help the surveyor map the easement, help my attorney understand the scope of the matter to draft the easement, and provided clear communication to me, my neighbor, and Public Works throughout the entire process. He was always available for questions and responded quickly. It was a pleasure working with Isaac and his team. read more

I highly recommend Mid Peninsula Plumbing and especially Tom the owner. He worked on a bathroom and laundry room addition in our house that involved alot of heavy lifting (cement cutting in our garage to gain access to the waste pipes). He was always on time, courteous, clean, professional and cost effective. He even found a way to temporarily set up our laundy in the garage while he did the work. We loved the work he did! Also, one year later, we noticed a smell coming from our laundy closet. We asked him to come and take a look. He came on the next Saturday to look it over. Turns out it was my washing machine that needed a cleaning and nothing to do with his work. He helped me fix the problem and he wouldn't even accept a payment for his visit. I would definitely use him for any additional plumbing work in my house and would recommend him to all my friends. read more

Tom came recommended from the man working in the plumbing department at Home Depot. He came to our rescue replacing the old toilets and fixtures in the bathrooms of the home we just purchased. Of course nothing was "simple" in our bathroom - we wanted to replace fixtures without tearing open the tile walls - this took a lot of "finesse" to accomplish. Tom was great - he worked thru the problems with us, finishing everything in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. We found our plumber! And recommend him highly! read more

Have used this plumbing company twice for work on a multi unit building. They are professional and efficient. The owner provided both a verbal and written bid and was easy to communicate with. The completed job, running water, gas, and drainage lines for a new washer and dryer was not small feat, and Tom handled it in stride. Work was so good we hired the company the second time to do another similar install for us. Would highly recommend them! I'm a property manager & real estate agent & deal with repair companies and services constantly. I have many accounts set up and for Plumbing problems "Mid-Peninsula Plumbing" is #1 on my list to call first. The reason for this is they are prompt, knowledgeable and down to earth to talk to and even flexible on price in some situations [plus they are less than their competititors who take longer to respond]. It seems no matter who the company or person is someone will write a bad review such as the one I saw on here about the hot water leak and sewer problems. I have a background in construction and it did give me a good laugh as it doesn't even make sense. My guess is sometimes people are upset when they have to spend a lot of money to fix a bad problem and who easier to blame than the company they called to fix it. As for getting a city permit in 30-minutes that would be an all time record! LOL!! read more
