The next day, they called me saying they fixed the radiator, but there was an internal leaking issue that the mechanic couldn't figure out and that I should immediately go trade in the car before the engine fails. He gave me zero plausible or any technical explanation for what the origin of the issue was and added another 100 dollars to my service fee. I decided to take my car to a mechanic who is more accustomed to dealing with Subarus with the incredibly vague explanation I received from the mechanic rather than go sell or trade in the car because one person told me he can't fix it. The next day, I received an actual explanation of what the issue was, which was a cross contamination issue with the coolant and engine oil that can happen with the specific engine that Subarus are equipped with and he was able to give me an actual quote to fix the issue rather than telling me to trade in or sell the car. Furthermore, he said that changing the radiator should have only cost me a couple hundred dollars max and that the issue with the engine could have been prevented if I went to an experienced mechanic in the first place! I was overcharged by more than double the actual price of parts and service and literally told to go trade in the car after paying $880 dollars, which I had to haggle down from $900 after the price increased overnight. Please don't come here for any repairs as they are not qualified to provide proper service, yet will overcharge you without any agreement. Unfortunately, I wasn't in town to bring it right away, and had to bring it back to the shop about 2 weeks later . (Still leaking btw) they said it was the "gasKeT" and I would have to pay another $48 to get this repaired. They said I should have brought it the day after i got the oil changed. Later after all the back and forth they offered to cover the costs for labor ,but I would have to pay for the part. Which was $3. I did not expect for them to charge me at all considering i had returned literally about 2 weeks later. (And called them over the phone twice to advise what was going on" They said i was "taking advantage" and told me god was watching. They said there was no way of knowing the part was damaged or defective . In my opinion they should have checked the gasket while doing the oil change . I ended up paying $10 which I didn't feel was fair but; at least they could pay off their $3 part they replaced. Next day after the lecture and "repair" ITS LEAKING AGAIN! haaaahahah now I have to go to the dealer and figure out what they broke on my car. I'm glad I didn't pay the $48 the second time around considering I came in with a car that was perfectly fine and left with a leaking car . Took the car after the 3rd day to Tahoe, to Yosemite and SFO and back to LA with no issues at all. Smooth ride and suspensions are all in tip top shape. This shop is a gem! John is honest and very helpful; he even declined and advised me to not fix anything if it is not broken on some things that I suggested that he thinks is uncessesary and is just additional costs for me. Make no mistake, if it is for preventive and is really in need like old cracked hoses, and tires, alignment etc, he will mention it, but will not force you have them fix them.
