I'd give 10 stars if I could! Will and his team of MACgicians S-A-V-E-D me! I've always been a PC user and recently decided to join this century and purchased a MacBook Air (which I LOOOOOVE, incidentally). I had it just about three weeks before it had a major accident...a rendered unusable sort of accident that I can hardly speak of without getting mad all over again. I thought it was not salvageable. I ran to the Apple Store in tears asking for guidance, and oh how they steered me wrong. They recommended a place called Kroll Ontrak way down I66. I drove out there with my machine and left it with them for three days to "analyze it," for which they charged me $65. They called me back once it had been brought back from "the clean room," whatever that is, and told me that they had taken the liberty of beginning the downloading process. I thought that was all really considerate until they gave me the quote for this service. And I choked on it. It wasn't much really; they only wanted my mercedes and my first born child. And there was no room for negotiation. None. So I took back my computer, paid them for their so called analysis, and was on my merry way. I turned to Yelp and found MACS in Alexandria---what a stroke of luck that turned out to be! I called and spoke to Will (the owner). I told him about the fate that had befallen my beloved MacBook Air and his response was, "no problem, bring it in." He was able to salvage everything: years and years worth of files, some new software I had purchased and coincidentally lost the disks for, all my emails, bookmarks and photos! On top of all that, he was able to then file it all away properly on my new MacBook Air. There were no "clean rooms" and there weren't any sort of mysterious processes like Kroll Ontrak had described to me. The best part was that he didn't want my car or my kid, just $125. SO, so reasonable. Later that day I had logged in to my new computer and remembered a question I had meant to ask him about something else unrelated. I called and he offered to fix it for me by logging into my computer remotely using TeamViewer (my old company used to use that software so I was comfortable with this--I know how it works). Talk about customer service! It wasn't even related to the original problem, it was just a question about a functionality on my computer. He just whizzed right around on it and fixed it with no effort. He also pointed out a great mac tutorial site to me so I could learn how to use my computer more effectively. SO NICE! I will not hesitate to use Mid Atlantic Computer Solutions again in the future. They are GREAT!!! read more

I'm usually very apprehensive about taking my computer in for repairs b/c I don't know enough to tell when they're being honest. This was NOT the case here. Will responded promptly to my online inquiry and laid everything out clearly for me so that I knew what I was expecting. Best, there were no surprises at the end. I'm blown away by how good this firm is. They fixed my Mac but Apple had given me a defective machine. They actually took it into the Apple store, got the bad parts replaced, and then finished restoring everything. This is my go-to solution for all our Macs. I wish I had known about them years ago. When my company recently launched our new business in Georgetown, we outsourced all of our IT needs - from choosing systems, to ordering and installing all the equipment, to setting up all our individual computer systems - to MACS. We're all Apple people, so having a company that understands Apple has been a must for us. They've been really great to work with, always available and willing to answer questions or troubleshoot any new IT issues that come up. No question has been too dumb to ask - and we've asked plenty! I was in a panic when the Mac had trackpad problems. They were able to diagnose, give a cost estimate, order the part and make sure I knew a workaround until then. Quick turn around, good communications, and friendly. This is a find! Update 2018 - We used Mid-Atlantic again in 2014 when the cat knocked a glass over onto the Mac, spilling water and shattering the trackpad. This time I didn't get into a panic cause I knew I had someone that could fix it. And when my co-worker explained that they were in a panic because of a wine spill onto their Mac I was able to say 'I know a guy' and they were pleased with the accurate estimate and quick turnaound. read more

Although I didn't end up getting my shattered screen iPhone fixed here but I was really impressed with their customer service. The guy (I didn't catch his name) there is very helpful and friendly. He gave me advice and helped me tape my phone for a temporary solution - he doesn't have to do this. I can see why this place got great reviews! read more

He then spent an hour discussing options for data recovery, as well as providing excellent advice regarding purchase of a new computer, including which models to avoid and which features to add. He was prepared to do all of that for free, then we agreed upon further diagnosis for a nominal sum. Highest marks! read more

MAC has come through twice for me with fantastic results. The first time, I destroyed my HP laptop with a glass of water and MAC recovered the data in a few hours. The second visit was to move my iTunes and other files from an ancient G4 to my PowerBook after my repeated attempts failed. They did in just a couple of hours. I walked in both times and they happily accommodated. I'm very happy with the service. Although their prices initially seemed a bit high ($150 base for each job), it's all relative - I spent way more in my time and buying a FireWire / thunderbolt cable and adapter on the ITunes transfer. If you value your time and data, go to the experts at MAC (and use the Yelp deal!). read more

MACS' customer service is excellent. I brought my iMac in to have it repaired after it crashed. Unfortunately, they were unable to repair it, but gave me advice on the specs I needed for my next computer purchase. They also had an Apple rep contact me to assist with the new purchase. These guys are better than I deserve at customer service! I tell them I have an issue and then make them track me down to resolve it. To my delight, they do so, and are impressively efficient at the resolution. And, if they don't need me to help resolve the issue they just take over my computer by remote and let me get other work done. In short, they're great to work with. read more

Mid-Atlantic Computer Solutions is amazing! I spilled a large cup of water all over my macbook keyboard and it was completely dead. They tried a bunch of different ways to recover my hard drive even when it seemed unlikely to work. They were able to recover all of the data from my old laptop in just a few hours and charged a very reasonable price! I dropped my iPhone and the screen stopped working -- not shattered, and the phone still worked through Bluetooth, but ... no light. Of course, it was 4:30 pm, and I figured I was doomed until the following work day. So the other day I broke off my headphone jack in my Macbook Pro. I called Mid-Atlantic and they told me they should be able to fix it. I dropped off my Macbook and, after examining my situation, they told me it was going to be risky if they tried their options. They said it could work or damage my logic board and that if it didn't work they wouldn't charge me. Well, in the end, they saved my computer for a VERY small fee compared to replacing logic board. Even if their solution hadn't worked, the people were super friendly, professional, and efficient which made the overall experience a pleasure! read more

My MacBook Pro had an unfortunate run-in with some iced tea. The beverage won. I just brought my totally dead MacBook in to MACS, and Will is my new hero. (My dead computer held the only versions of some extremely important family photos!) Will removed my hard drive, moved my data onto an external hard drive, and got me all my data back in under 10 minutes. He's keeping my computer to see if it can be resuscitated - he says he can usually do it for about half what the Apple store quoted me ($1500). I hired Will to help me with my transition from a dying home PC to my new iMac. I know enough to be dangerous and get myself into trouble. I was in the middle of the transition when I just got stuck and frustrated and had enough of the change. Will talked with me on the phone and learned all about my frustration and where I was in the process. He provided free advice and told me what I could do easily on my own. I still hired him as I was ready to be done with the change and just needed some help. Will was prompt and timely. While at my house, he understood my cost threshold and worked efficiently to get the most done within the time that we had. I would highly recommend his company. After he left, I had a few more steps to do, but I was up and running my new iMac with all my files and programs transferred over and in their proper place. I can't say enough good things about Will and his team. As a Midwest gal I value honesty and respect and thats exactly what you get from this company. Will and team won't try and sell you something that they don't firmly believe that you need. They will answer all your questions and walk you through anything you don't know, even if it takes them 5 times to explain it to you they are happy to help. When I was having issues figuring something out, I emailed Will and he tried to walk me through some troubleshooting. I eventually had to bring in the computer and have him work on it but I don't know many places that would give you free advice and that is really what sold me on Mid-Atlantic Solutions. Their prices are reasonable and their turn around is quick. If Will is slammed he will let you know and he will do his best to get you your equipment back in a timely manner. Sometimes things that happen with our computers can seem like the end of the world and we do have to understand that this business is not run by a whole lot of people but a few who a really good at their jobs but they too have lives outside of work.
