I went into Home Depot a few minutes before 7:30 - not realizing they closed the Fedex portion at 7:30. The manger was extremely helpful with finding me the right box that fit the equipment I was sending, wrapping and taping it up for me. He went above and beyond- cheerfully, which inspired this review. If there are more people like this in the world- there is hope for humanity yet. read more

YAY for Office Depot! I had to get something printed for work, and comparing the different price points at different photo printing shops, Office Depot came as a win! I called ahead and spoke with a friendly staff member, who gave me all the necessary information. Dropping off the file, the printing service was super! They can print different sizes on various paper formats, and the wait time can be a couple of minutes to about 20. Isaiah, one of the employees, was super helpful, patient, and a made sure that we were super satisfied and that the produce received was perfect! Hip hip hooray for Isaiah! :D You are more than welcome to drop-off and pick it up at a later time or just kill some time at the store. Just note for same-day printing, drop it off anytime before 2 PM and it'll be guaranteed to be ready before the end of the day. Located off of Richmond Highway, this place is super clean, organized, and has a good selection of office supplies and such. If you need business/printing services, make sure to give Office Depot a try - you wont' regret it! This is a huge store and there were barely any customers inside. I had a return that I was putting off for a week or two so I finally completed it. There was one customer finishing up a purchase when I got in line. The cashier did my refund quickly and didn't cause a fuss about reason for return. The transaction was fast. If you're looking for 14-cent 3x5 index cards, they have tons of them on clearance to the right when you first walk in, as well as a ton of clearance toilet paper and notepads deeply discounted toward the back of the store. read more

In many ways, this spot is better than Staples. The are not as large, so I'm not wandering around the store like an extra from The Walking Dead. No, you pretty snag your office treasure from the jump without asking directions. For me, the treasure is Sharpie markers, and this Office Depot has a myriad of styles and colors. If one of your two self service copier/printers is down completely, there is a line of five people waiting to print, the store closes in 40 minutes, couldn't one of the four people working there help print some of the documents behind the counter? I had a confirmed appointment for fingerprints and a photo for an employer and I was on time. After waiting for a short time, I encountered Keith, who asked if he could help me. I told him what I needed and he asked what time my appointment was for. I told him "right now. It's for 6:40." He instructed me to go wash my hands and return the the kiosk where the prints are done. When I got there, Breanna approached me and told me that Keith (from the back) said that I didn't have an appointment. I said I have an email confirmation. She contacted Keith, who had disappeared in the back, on the headset and continued to argue about it. He went back and forth with her a couple times even after I showed her the email confirmation. Finally she told me that she was just going to do it. And she proceeded to provide me with the service for which I came.5 stars for her! Keith never are appeared from the back. Shameful treatment of a customer. I was going to buy a $20 item too, but after that, I decided to just leave. There is still a pandemic going on and people don't like having to be somewhere any longer than they have to, much less return a second time. Don't know why this Keith would lie and say that I didn't have an appointment when clearly I did. The whole process took ten minutes if that. Office Depot - Office Equipment Near Me - Alexandria, Virginia

I sent a document to be printed and bound to this location last week. The estimated completion time was by 6pm on August 8th. Later that day, I received a call saying the binding machine was broken and they would probably be able to finish it by the earlier part of the next week. I didn't mind waiting a couple of days since I was early on sending items I would be out of town til Monday anyway; however, I've received no follow up. I called a week later (today) to get a follow up and was told to call back in 35 minutes. So I waited and called back...and called back...and called back--with no answer. I then decided to use the chat function to try to get an update--no help. I then called the 1-800 number and got no help. They even tried to call the store for me and got no answer. I then proceeded to call repeatedly (totaling around 19-20 times) between 12 noon and 5pm and they never picked up. Ultimately, due to the fact that they were unreachable and because I couldn't get any information or a follow up, I called customer service again and cancelled my order requesting a refund. read more

Went in to find supplies for my business. Was going to buy from Amazon but decided I wanted to purchase my items in person. After two minutes inside, someone told me and my family, that they were about to close in three minutes so we needed to find what we wanted and bring it up front. I was nowhere near done. I shop for things I need on rare occasions I shop wants. I visited this store on Saturday, March 8th, 2014 for a want - after visiting most stores on my beloved "Route 1". Haha... This was mine and my brothers final destination before shopping online. To make a long story short the young man that helped us had better customer service than all of the electronic stores on "the route" multiplied by 10. He was incredibly busy and was multi-tasking the entire time we were there - he gracefully went from helping one guest to the other. And as more people kept asking him for assistance and would tell them in a very professional way that he was helping others and to please hang tight. He was essentially doing the job of 4-5 associates. He did not have a disgruntled look, he did not roll his eyes, he just helped. It was almost as if he had a mental checklist of guest he was helping. He was robotic but personable. I had Singapore flashbacks! Yes for one split second I thought I was in paradise. If you have the luck of being a shopper on this young man's schedule you will give this place 5 stars too! read more

Stores have the audacity to wonder why people are abandoning brick and mortar for online shopping. I just spent 15 minutes trying out chairs at this location while a salesperson wandered aimlessly about, ignoring me. I called her over after picking out a chair that was prominently displayed at the front of the aisle with a sale tag on it. Only then did she mention to me that the chair was out of stock and had been for a long time. I requested to speak to a manger to ask why they had the chair not only on display, but so prominently. She literally said that she does what she's told and that she's required to have the chair there. Total waste of time. read more

I literally never write reviews but this was horrible service. I placed an order online, but the store locked their doors prior to their closing time, so I waited at the front assuming one of the multiple employees who saw me would unlock the door (especially since again, I arrived before closing time, and there were multiple shoppers still in the store, and all I needed to do was go grab my order and leave). When I realized they weren't going to open the door, I searched for the confirmation email, denoted that I was curbside, and received the confirmation that an associate would be with me shortly. After waiting a little longer, I called the store, got a message saying they were closed but I could still speak to an associate by pressing 7; however they didn't pick up. I needed my order, and I continued to wait out front assuming that an associate would bring me my order when they unlocked the door for the first customer who checked out. When this happened, the associate rudely spoke over me when I tried to explain that all I needed to do was pick up my order and I arrived prior to their stated closing time, although he did eventually say he would get my order. He came back and forth multiple times because he couldn't remember my name and couldn't find the items. During this time, he unlocked the door for multiple customers to exit, and although he would only open the door a few inches to speak to me, he thought it was appropriate to ask me to stand alone outside of the door while he "borrowed my phone" to take it into the locked store since he couldn't figure out the order. I said I was uncomfortable with that and I asked to speak to a manager because at that point I had been waiting almost half an hour, and as I explained, I was frustrated because I arrived before they were closed, and I would have probably been in and out before the first customer finished checking out had I been allowed to simply get my stuff on my own. When the employee finally brought out the remnants of my order, I reiterated that I would like to speak to a manager, and I was told that the manager didn't want to speak to me. I have worked at retail jobs and at restaurants and understand that locking up before closing can make life a little easier, but if you see someone standing outside before your closing time, it's so unprofessional to ignore them. The store relocated to the Kings Hwy location earlier this year. Inside, the building has less than 10 aisles and a large copy/printing center. The store carries far less than the previous location and, due to the set up, seems to be much more disorganized. There isn't an area designated for lines, so it's best to pick a register and wait by it, or walk around the large counter to an employee before he/she walks off in another direction. Based on the size and location of the printing center, I'm guessing this service is the store's main focus. My assumption is probably wrong though, because the staff seems to be far too unfamiliar with the machines and computer system running the print orders (or maybe the system is slow?). I've had printing done twice - once I was given my 11x17 prints without anything to carry them out in, and the other time, I placed my order online to be picked up in the store and ended up waiting, which defeats the convenience of online ordering. While I was in the store today I saw a customer get mildly upset about the recommendation that she go to another location (probably because the store didn't carry what she needed). Considering one of the employees walked away from her while saying "She doesn't know who she's talking to. She's not talking to me", I'm not too impressed with the level of professionalism I've seen. To sum it all up - if you really need supplies or printing done, there's a Staples further south on Richmond Highway. Or, if like me, you have a gift card to use, order online and have it shipped for free, or swing by when you have nothing better to do. read more

This review is related to the "Copy & Print" department at Office Depot I rarely write online reviews but felt strongly that I should share my experience with the Copy & Print department at this Office Depot location. I ordered a really tricky "Canvas Print" job online of one of my wife's photography artwork; it is basically a large 20'' by 16'' print of a photo on canvas material folded on a frame. It appears that this is a new function at Office Depot and the staff was not well trained on it. The first print didn't match exactly what we ordered online, in my opinion; this is where their customer service really shined. They were extremely accommodating and worked with me over the phone and emails to ensure we received a perfect product that matched our expectation. The associate that worked on the print, Zahra, did a phenomenal job. I am sure she needed all her patience to get this large black & white print on canvas with no print stains or smudges. She did such a good job that we immediately ordered two more prints for different photos. I should mention that these prints will be hanged at an art studio for an exhibit and they passed my wife's perfection test!! I spoke with Larry (I believe the manager) over the phone and he was extremely helpful and professional, I also dealt with Michael (Mike) over the phone and at the store and he was very nice and accommodating as well. It is worth mentioning that we tried the same print at the Falls Church location for Office Depot before going to the Alexandria location. Totally different experience, they completely screwed it up at Falls Church (it was full of black stains and framed poorly), they apologized but didn't offer to redo it or give it another shot. I am glad we tried our luck at the Alexandria location. I am always happy to see people that still have pride at what they do and care about the quality of their final product. I wanted to take the time to recognize an amazing employee named Ashley! She has honestly been a huge help from the first day I came to Office Depot. I have also heard the same sentiments from people I know personally she has provided assistance to. From my experience, Ashley is the most personable, professional, and sincere person amongst her team members. No matter what is going on around her Ashley keeps a positive mood, it can be busy, her coworkers can be lacking in support or their positivity and Ashley perseveres! The first time I went to Office Depot for help I stood in line and an elder caucasian male by the name Mike was at the register, when he looked at me his face became grim and I was uncomfortable to approach the register to share with him the reason for my visit. I explained to him that I was there to print flyers because I was instructed by someone I work with that we have them printed here. He told me that they did not print flyers and I asked if he was sure because the person who instructed me to come, gave me the impression that they come all the time to have this completed without any trouble . He told me no, listed other items they print and turned away from me... literally walked away from the counter. Good thing I had sense to inquire with another employee, on the verge of tears I explained to Ashley what I needed help with and that Mike refused to assisted me, she apologized for her team member and helped me on the spot with the flyers. I was in disbelief that Mike had been blatantly dishonest and I'm not understanding why to this day; however, he was not discrete at all in making it obvious which customers he was willing to help, very discriminatory, not only in who he chose to help but the demeanor he chose to for each guests also, instead of just treating everyone the same was very uncomfortable for me to witness. I also called today and Reina answered the phone, she said "uhm a lot" prior to responding to my questions and was not very helpful in finding a solution to help me. I like to call prior to coming in for printing because I understand sometimes staff can be busy, unfortunately, Ashley is not there today, so the energy is certainly different. Reina was responding to me in a manner which was obvious that she just wanted me to get off the phone. I did call back and was assisted by Isaiah, now I have not worked with him in person but I think I have seen him before, now he was professional and realistic. I appreciate that and he was not trying to steer me away from getting what I needed done with Office Depot as Mike and Reina had made it so obviously put without verbally articulating. Thank you Isaiah and though I have not experienced working with you in person as I have with Ashley, I appreciate you offering and look forward to working with you in the future. Please keep in mind that not being able to have something done for a customer is not a good reason for a negative review, it's always your own attitude you consciously choose to present for people to judge. read more

I came to Office Depot to purchase a laptop. When I walked in, I found it surprising to not be greeted by a single person. While I waited for a sales associate, I busied myself by looking at the laptops independently. I noticed that the associate was very wrapped up with a customer. After about 10-15 minutes, the sales associate was free and approached me and asked if I needed anything. I explained that I'd come looking for a particular laptop that I'd seen online and that I was in the market for a PC after having had a Mac for the past 8 years and needed some suggestions and help. He looked at me blankly and nodded. So I asked a few questions and he dryly responded. I told him my price range and how I generally use the computer and what I would need it for. He did not seem to care. I continually got the vibe that he'd have rather been anywhere else in the world. At some point, I even told him, "come on, talk to me about these, sell it to me" and I literally got no response. I made my selection after dragging a little more information out of him. He did not try to talk to me about any promos going on, he did not discuss needed software or additional devices like a mouse. I told him I was interested in a mouse and he pointed in a general direction for me to go shop and select one myself. So after I was 85% certain I had everything I needed, he called me to the register to cash out. Right about then, the customer he'd been with upon my arrival began to get very upset and accused him of skipping over her. He visibly rolled his eyes and sighed and another employee approached to take over the cash register while he went to talk to the customer. I asked the second employee where I could leave feedback regarding my experience. He directed me to the survey on my receipt. Didn't offer a manager or a corporate phone number or anything. He asked if everything was okay and I explained my experience. He told me that the customer who'd become upset had stressed out the sales associate and that's why he was giving me poor service. I thanked the employee and left, but I was shocked that he'd actually said that to me as if it was an acceptable reason. So far, I am happy with my new laptop, but will not be back to this location if I can help it. If I didn't need the computer THAT DAY, I definitely would have taken my business elsewhere. read more

There's a huge sign outside on the building saying "We Fix Computers". I took my computer there today for a diagnosis. The computer tech was less than enthusiastic about the opportunity to conduct a diagnosis. Reluctantly, he pretended to conduct the diagnosis. When I asked if any bugs were detected, he replied, "The software doesn't work. They have to order software to conduct a diagnosis." What a complete waste of time. Stop offering a service that you're not equipped to provide. read more

So I had a simple task a couple of weeks ago. My job was to buy a cool chair for my son's desk. He got to choose and I got to pay. First of all, when you enter this place it feels desolate. I'm not sure why, but it reads unkempt. We entered (me my wife and two boys) and passed three employees, none of which offered to help. So we made our way back to the desk chairs. My sons proceeded to check out each and every chair, as did my wife and I, and still no help. So after about 20 minutes my son found what he was looking for, my wife and I agreed the price was fine, and I hoisted up this large box... still no help. I walked from the back to the checkout passing those same three employees and, still no help. Finally, I am ready to pay and the cashier blurts out something like "if you don't buy the warranty you can't return it." Well hello to you too, I thought. I read the return policy on the counter in front of the little man and replied "It says here we have two weeks to return it." His answer was, "You only have two weeks to return it but if something goes wrong in the next year you cant." So then I replied, "It's a chair, what could possibly go wrong once it's set up?" He promptly explained to me that sometimes items aren't made as well as they should be and they break. At this point I'm getting concerned about the quality of the chair and asked him if maybe I shouldn't buy this chair. He said of course I should buy it, just that sometimes things they sell break and it is better to have a warranty. With that I replied "Have you thought of carrying better quality items in your store?" And with that I got no reply and no offer to help carry the huge box out to the car. Sure, I can manage, but the offer would have been nice. And I certainly won't be back. I will keep you posted if the chair collapses for some strange reason. read more

The staff was very helpful and friendly, but the store is pretty small considering that it's supposed to be a big-box store. Apparently they don't stock Canon printers here, but I was able to find other supplies that I needed and get the print services that I needed. There's a Staples a few miles down the road, but it's so cluttered in there and the staff isn't very attentive so I recommend this Office Depot if it's not out of your way. read more
