Whether you are making the excuse personally or just passing along the company rep's reply to you as an answer, it is still just an excuse made to a customer who spent almost $100 on a service that the organization you represent failed to provide. And you not only failed to provide that service, you failed to live up to the spirit of your guarantee. You have no idea how important it was for me to get that letter to the recipient's desk first thing in the morning on Monday. If I could have just gotten into their mail room by Monday, I still would have had a chance. But now, all those possibilities are gone. Consider the fact that i spent $100 to mail a letter! Don't you think that must have been important? And all you guys had to say was, "maybe, it'll get there on time." I could have considered my options. That's what FEDEX did.
