Handed over my laptop on Jul 28 for a job that was estimated to be a couple days. After business hours on Jul 29 I received an email that my device was sent to a "partner company" because the repair required a process Cloak "do[es] not service." Despite claiming that my laptop would be returned in "a day or two" I didn't receive an update until I called the afternoon of Fri Aug 1. I was informed at the time that it was still with the partner company but that it should be sent back to Cloak after the weekend. I did not hear about my laptop again until calling Thurs Aug 7. At this point I was told the partner company had just dropped it off with the post office and it should be back at Cloak by the next day, Aug 8. The afternoon of Aug 8 I arrived at the shop to find a printed sign on the door stating the owner was on vacation and would be back Wednesday [Aug 13]. The sign was still up on the locked door on the afternoon of Aug 13. When I called on Aug 14 (to make sure I wouldn't waste my time heading to the shop for nothing a third day), I was informed that the partner company still had my laptop at their location, and their technicians also could not service my device. I finally got my laptop back on Aug 15, in what turned out to be worse condition than how I had dropped it off in late Jul.

I do wish they could give a more specific delivery time window, but their delivery crew is great. They don't carry any extra parts on the delivery truck, so you have to be careful to order the exact parts you need to connect everything together. The store is well organized, and I can usually find whatever I need. The staff is generally helpful and knowledgeable.

Not the joking "Linux is better" vibe I hear in tech, but more of a Mac supremacist "I don't want to deal with a PC" vibe. He and whoever he did the car salesman talk-to-my-manager trick with didn't witness the issue I had and assumed it was a software issue not covered by the protection plan, basically claiming, without any actual diagnostics, that Windows, then the Windows installs were all corrupted. Then tried to charge $100 for a future attempt to try to install Windows in another way, which my issue has prevented 5 times today doing it myself. Apparently, this type of "customer service" is not uncommon here. Don't go here if you need Windows for work or just prefer it. You'll be made to feel bad about it. They will also try to get out of letting you use your protection plan by calling it a software issue before any diagnostics are done.

But I thought I'd give Computiverse a try since I had had so many good experiences with them in the past. Paul began the surgery and told me that my hard drive was on the verge of cardiac arrest. He explained to me that a new solid state replacement was available, that had no moving parts, and that it would provide an upgrade from the original part. So I took my external hard drive with the latest back-up to him and he did the change-out. This thing is now lightning fast! Faster than it has ever been! And I am thrilled with the results! Thank you Paul! And thank you Computiverse! You guys are the best! So glad you are there! Bob McBride

During a routine cleaning and replacment of heat transfer compund in August 2022 the receptionist, David, called to explain that during the process the keyboard broke. The technician, Connor, explaned that it was probably due to the age of the device causing brittleness. Over the next months, at least 4 replacement keyboards were installed. Each time the keyboards had functional failure of some of the keys but in every case, there was a deformation of the keyboard in the same spot. Something was distending the keyboard from the backside in the same spot. On each replacement, the keys in that section failed outright or had intermittent problems. Ultimately, even using a keyboard stated to be an OEM part suffered the same problem. Rob was adamant that he could not properly diagnose the problem with out having the password for computer access. I could not imagine how full access to the computer's function would solve a physical mechanical problem. I opened the inner back compartment, located the a screw in the place where keyboard was deformed, removed it and the problem was resolved. Rob, I am cancelling my appointment today and sadly will never be using your services again.
