I had this place bookmark for months and decided to try it. The pictures from Instagram looked delicious, so I was eager to go! While I don't live nearby, I decided to drive up there because I wanted a healthy cuisine without feeling that guilty.
Location: It's in a shopping center in Doral. I would say maybe 10 minute drive from CityPlace Doral.
Ambiance: I came on a Saturday with my mom and brother around 5 PM. The place is very small and it was packed. Only had 2 tables opened. If you are coming with a group of people let's say 6 and I think they will be a wait time. I had to wait for them to clean a table and it was 3 of us. Once we got seated, we noticed it was hot inside. It was a hot Miami day, but it would have been nice if the A/C would have been higher.
Service: The service was terrible! Once we got seated, we didn't get the menus. Our waiter was a male don't remember his name , but once we were seated we didn't get a menu. Meanwhile, people who came later than me already had menu in their hands. That's because they had a waitress who was very attentive. Our waiter, was all over the place. LITERALLY! He had to attend the register, attend people who call for to go, attend walk ins, etc. Getting a hold of him was a mission. The waitress noticed we still haven't gotten our drinks and she had to ask what we ordered and bring it to us! It was tough to ask for water. Utensils were not filled in our table and that was another hassle to ask. I feel like the place is understaff! Clearly the one who knows how to handle is the waitress. It's not our waiter fault because like I said he was doing too much thing at once. I feel like there should be 2 people dealing with sit ins, one for the register, one for cleaning and one for the smoothies.
Food:
-Empandas: They were made of whole wheat and baked. We got 2 chicken and 1 beef. They were really good. They were tasty and the dough was delicious.
-Lomo Saltado: Loin steak sautéed onions and tomato and served with brown rice. The sauce the plate bring is light soy sauce. The plate was ok! It could have been better. What killed it was they put way TOO MUCH soy sauce. Like literally looked a soup of soy sauce. If they would have bit just a little bit, the plate would have been delicious. The food was very salty. Again because of the excessive of soy sauce. I'm willing to try this plate again but I might tell them not to put much sauce. The plate is small which is fine because it's in moderation, but they just put way too much soy sauce and it was overpowering the steak and rice.
-lasagna pistachio: it was good, but very salty and way too much cheese. Like I said it could have been better if it wasn't for the extra cheese and salt.
-chicken alfredo: this dish was delicious. The sauce was perfect. It wasn't salty. It was creamy. It came with whole wheat pasta. This was my favorite plate of the other two. I kept thinking to myself," how is this healthy ? "lol
Dessert: It was a missioned to order. I asked a waiter which one was good and he had no idea. He didn't suggest not one, which wasn't helpful. I asked for the peanut chocolate cheesecake. It took forever to bring it to me. I saw the waiter walking with a box from left to right and opening. He was also asking questions on what to do with the cheesecake. Now I know why because when they finally bring the cheesecake it was hard as a rock. I could honestly hit with the spoon and you can hear the "cling" sound. I told the waiter I couldn't eat this and how it was a cheesecake. It was more of an hard cold ice cream. He says they keep there cheesecake in the freezer and to serve it to the public they put it in the microwave. He didn't put enough minutes in mine for it to be cheesecake material. When I heard this I was just annoyed. I told him to just take it and I rather get something else. I ended up getting a cake from the Grab to go section. It's a fridge they have in which you can get to go deserts or drinks. Our waiter didn't offer to get me one or put in a plate until one of the waitress saw me and she's like "I will put it for you in a plate, so you can enjoy it better". I really don't know this waitress name, but she is like the only one who actually knows what they are doing.
I got the marble protein cake. It was really good. It is made if whey protein, almond flour, and stevia. 18 gram of protein I think it had.
Cost: it was kind of pricey. For 3 people it was $78. Oh and they already include the 15% tip. No wonder they don't care to give you great service.
Overall, I would give this place a second chance to try there pizza as I have seen a lot of people ordering. As well to try there arepas and arroz con pollo, but it wasn't something that I'm dying to come back. It was just OK. I guess everything in Instagram seem a lot better. read more
