Annie was amazing and so sweet. She def deserves a raise or any promotion bonus when the time comes. First time trying Cuban food and omg the black BEANS were so savory and good I regret not getting a whole side on my own. First time with my friends and everything was so flavorful and delish. The food was authentic, this was a surprise restaurant because we thought it was just a walk up and order on the sidewalk bakery. There are tables inside, clean restrooms, authentic Cuban toast, coffee and pastries. We didn't speak Spanish. But the server spoke enough English to figure out what we wanted. This is is decent bakery/diner. They have a huge parking lot in the strip mall that is located in. They offer indoor dining or you can get your order to go from wither in the restaurant or at the walk-up window. The primary language here is Spanish, but they were able to get my order with a little english and pointing to what I wanted. The bakery is in the front and the restaurant/diner is in the back. They have breakfast food and sandwiches. I ate breakfast here and it was very good and reasonably priced. I got eggs, bacon and potatoes. It was good. The highlight of my breakfast though was the orange juice. It s freshly squeezed. They make it right there while you wait. It was like putting a straw directly in an orange and drinking. This place has OK food and an excellent priced. You could do better and you could also do worse eating here. read more

I usually get cafe con leche here. But today, my husband was hungry. So we looked at the menu and decided to stay. The food took awhile to come out but we were very surprised by the yummy food. My husband ordered liver with rice and tostones. I ordered lechon asado with moro and tostones. Both plates were very flavorful and the portion was big too. The Little Havana is getting so pricey and touristy ....... maybe if you want a good reasonable Cuban food, we need to try these little cafeteria/bakery. I was having breakfast peacefully and taking a meeting at this restaurant. Everything was going well when a person came up to me and told me that my meeting was too loud and to put it down. This person never identified themselves as a worker or a manager. I thought it was a bit rude and explained to him I have impaired hearing and this is the only way I can listen on to my work meeting. I'm a paying customer I wasn't making a ruckus. My phone was next to me. I continued my meeting and having breakfast when this person( white long hair man) came and told me I hadn't put the volume down. At this point I had already asked for my check because this person made me feel uncomfortable. For some reason he thought it was ok to put his hands on me. You never put your hands on anyone even if he meant it in a nice way. You don't touch people. I'm sure he is glad I will never come again. read more

Came in to this cafe to see the breakfast menu. I simply asked to see a menu and copped an attitude as if I bothered her. moreover, she murdered under her voice and in spanish, that she was busy. Well, within two minutes of me reviewing the menu, I caught this same waitresses "leaning" up against the cafeteria countertop talking to other staff members doing nothing else. I imagine this is what she considers busy..... You're better off driving less than 1/8 mile down Northwest 7th Street to a little place called La Casita cafeteria, better service, better attitude and I would speculate better food. read more

Some of my favs are the Carne (meat) empanadas, ham croquettes, pastelitos, cafe con leche, and ham and cheese crossaints. Recently tried ordering some of the deserts for a new years party and they are sooo delicious! We had the dulce de leche eclairs, white and chocolate eclairs, chocolate cakes, bread pudding, natilla and a couple of others and everyone loved everything! This is a gem for quick casual and affordable dining. The food is great traditional Cuban and the staff provides fabulous old fashioned service. This place seems to get a pretty steady flow of traffic whenever I am in this area, so I decided to check it out since I had to get groceries nearby. Well, it was uber cheap at $1.95 for a pan pico and a slice of cake, however, the products themselves were just plain bad and no spectacular price will ever make up for that. The "rum" cake was terrible. It was that weird, spongy, dryish cake with no fluffiness to it whatsoever. The rum flavoring must've been on vacation because I wasn't tastin' a lick of rum...not even artificial rum. In fact, the pan pico tasted more like rum than the cake. Oddly enough, the pan pico tasted just like cheap rum flavoring. It was either that or super cheap artificial vanilla. Either way, pan pico has NO business tasting like that. On top of that, the pan pico was weird and rubbery. The cake was no stranger to sittin' around either. That cake tasted like it had kissed stale perhaps yesterday. Obviously, no matter how poorly you make it, pan pico won't have that texture unless it, too is old. All in all, everything tasted like horrible, pre-packaged desserts that had their shelf life stretched beyond their limit. And what a coin-ki-dink...had a realized it before I started my order why the name of this place sounded familiar, I would've taken off running. This is the place that supplies Winn Dixie and Publix's refrigerated Latin sweets. I tried them before and threw the whole box of capuchinos and the brazo gitano away. Again, coin-ki-dink...I spat out the last of two bites of the cake this time around because I couldn't take it anymore and tossed both the cake and the pan pico in the dumpster. What an utter waste of calories. Literally, this place left a really bad taste in my mouth. read more

Water bottles are a bit expensive here but there is a couple of other business around like Walgreens and a Winn dixie next door to it, in same plaza. read more

The ham and cheese empanadas here are made with cream cheese, which is relatively unusual, therefore I didn't foresee it. I took one bite, realized it was cream cheese, then asked one of the nice girls manning the counter if it could be exchanged for a different kind of empanada, or if not, refunded (I despise cream cheese). The manager on duty, Arlen, was adamant that it was not possible, which, I don't see why not. It's not as if I ate the entire empanada and then asked for a refund. She also was very rude on top of it all, which was highly unnecessary. This place is hit or miss, but there's really good service and I've had decent food here. Some of the pastries are great, some not so much. Just depends on the look of them that day, I guess. Bakery aside, I've had food here also. The burger was actually surprisingly good. I've also had the churrasco, which was excellent. However, I did feel kinda sick afterward so something there, whether the meat, the chimichurri, the maduros or the avocado they serve it with wasn't up to par. It wasn't full on food poisoning, but I felt uncomfortable enough to notice and it was the only thing I had eaten that day. So, all that being said, this is a great place to pick up some coffee and a pastry if you're in the area. The menu food was good as well, but... well, you've already been warned. I would eat there again, though, without hesitation. I would definitely recommend this for a great, hearty Cuban lunch. The portions are large and you can't beat the prices. I like the fact inside the restaurant is very inviting, kind of gives a reminder of a old western salon. When you enter, you pretty much sit yourself. They offer lunch specials until 3pm, depending of what you are getting, they serve you fresh buttered cuban toast. El Prado offers a large variety of Cuban meals anything from a cuban steak sandwich with fries to a churrasco with congri and mariquitas, (for those who are unfamiliar black beans with white rice mixed together and thin fried plantain chips. I highly recommend everything on the menu except the arroz con pollo. I requested it once and the presentation wasn't so appealing. It didn't taste so good either. On the norm a usually request a fresh ham croquette, a cheese pastry, before my lunch or dinner is served. I also noticed that they serve and sell wine and beer. Overall, the bakery offers pretty decent meals. The prices are on the average . If shopping in the plaza I highly recommend this location. read more

I work in a restaurant and I know that sometime people have their days and sometimes staff isn't the best so I ignore little things but today! I had to write my first and I hope last negative review. Short story. The staff is ignorant and rude not to mention racist. There was no one in the restaurant when I had ordered. I tried ordering through the window because I only wanted one thing, I asked for what I wanted and the lady told me to come inside (I'm also carrying 6-7 bags in my hand and 2 boxes. I come inside no problem she takes the next person who walks and and takes their order of 5+ things. I wait and 2 other girls from the staff are completely ignoring me. They make a comment on my Jaír thinking I do not understand ( I have big curly hair but I brushed it out and looked like a fro so it's puffy) I ignore it. The order for the other customer is done. 2 more people come and they all quickly take their orders. These woman thought u knew no Spanish until I spoke up and said something because of my HAIR. No NOT and I REPEAT DO NOT come here and waste your money. There are other bakeries walking distance from this place where the staff is welcoming and happy to speak to you whether you're spanish or not. I walked out and told her to forget it. Save your money!!! I can start of by saying the service is horrible. The staff doesn't even greet you on the contrary they avoid you. I ordered my breakfast it looked more like something I can make at home and better. The eggs were over cooked, the potatoes tasted old, the bread was soggy and full of butter, and the sausages were burnt. When I asked for the manager a lady who claimed to be the owner came out and have a very "street and low class attitude". When a customer is upset you do what it takes to make them feel better within reason of course but this lady had no class and had no intentions of pleasing me the customer.
