Music was a vibe as I remember walking in hearing Bob Marley "Three Little Birds" and then Stevie Wonder "Ribbon in the Sky." Yup! Already hooked lol the guy at the register (I wanna say he's the owner) was so kind. Gave great suggestions. I specifically got the chocolate chip muffin because he said he has one everyday lol I haven't tried it but I don't doubt it's good! My husband got a strawberry shortcake donut which was delish! In which they let me know it's from another business but I forgot the name, however, really good donut. For our drinks, I got an iced pumpkin latte and my husband got a honey maple latte. Both were perfect. Generous amount and perfect sweetness! So there's a really cute library in the back that catches my attention. I immediately go there as we wait for our order and picked out a book that I immediately start to read. As I'm reading, the owner (wife of the guy I believe I met at the counter) says I can keep the book! Excuse me what?! I was so happy lol what a gem of a coffee shop. I'll be back to enjoy their other menu items as they also have warm breakfast items etc. Lastly, they also own Local Pie which is right next to it and it's also delish! Didn't even know it until I asked because the guy at the counter (so sorry I don't know his name) had a shirt on that said Local Pie. Anyway, go to both! You won't regret it.

I stopped in again this past Tuesday, and the experience was very different from what I've always known here. The service was unfortunately very rushed and inattentive. We had hoped to dine in, but our food was packed to-go without asking. My sandwich was bland, and even though the cashier asked for my full order, parts of it still came out incorrectly. I know Cuban bakery culture is fast-paced and "grab and go," but this time it felt like because we weren't regulars, we didn't receive the same warmth or care. At one point, I even felt like the cashier was worried I might walk out without paying -- an uncomfortable feeling I've never experienced here before. They seem to be renovating, and I truly hope it's just growing pains, but things felt disorganized. Someone was offered an item from a handwritten menu, only for another staff member to say it had actually been removed. The digital menu wasn't fully updated either, which added to the confusion. It honestly makes me sad to write this, because Lucerne has always been a special place to me and my family. I'm really hoping they find their footing again after the renovations and get back to the level of quality, flavor, and warmth that made this bakery such a treasure for so many years.

What a shameful experience at Bamboo!!…read more To add insult to already high prices, Bamboo has started piling on unnecessary fees. I used to frequent this restaurant because the food was consistently good. While the food is still decent, the pricing practices have become unacceptable. I was charged a 3.5% "processing fee." When I asked what it was for, I was told it was for paying with a credit card. The problem? I had never even told them I was paying with a credit card at that point. Then I noticed they charged 8% sales tax. Since when is sales tax in Miami 8%? That immediately raised another red flag. To top it all off, when the payment screen came up, the suggested gratuity options went as high as 24%. By the time you add the inflated tax, the processing fee, and a tip, you're looking at paying well over 36% on top of your meal. Restaurants deserve to make a fair profit, but customers also deserve transparency and honest pricing. Hidden fees and excessive add-ons leave a bad taste, regardless of how good the food is. Unfortunately, Bamboo has lost a longtime customer. I hope management rethinks these practices before they drive away more loyal patrons. Very sad! Then they wonder why the restaurant is empty.
