Best sushi place in Clearlake. I had the Wong tong soup, ocean's nest, crazy crab roll, and fried ice cream.

Food is almost always great. Service is good. Wish the bar was a little better but we don't go for the liquor. C2 roll is so yummy!

First time here when visiting Houston. Definetly not one of the best i had. So far I enjoyed both their rolls and sashimi. Very fresh fresh. Of course when you come across good quality, u must pay the price. Although, I had paid less for same quality. I'm a favorite albacore lover and this place has a melting in your mouth quality. All three rolls were all new mix and I don't recommend to get all at the same time as they tasted almost similar but I enjoyed them all. The food is very good. The service has always been great as well. They can get a little crowded on Friday night but it's worth the wait.

Sushi was tasty, one drink was a miss, service was lacking. We ordered drinks. My drink was the Michiru special (?). I was disappointed because it said it had litchi and it had no litchi - but it was still tasty. My husband asked the waitress for a martini that was fruity but had a spicy kick to it. She basically brought him back a margarita in a martini glass. Didn't see her for a good bit after that. Another waiter came out with our appetizer and we told him our feelings about the drinks. To my husband, he suggested a cucumber martini with spice. When I tell you that drink was spicy - that's an understatement! My husband took one gulp and he choked up. I took a sip and same. Our mouths were on FIRE! I don't think anyone could have finished that. We finally saw our waitress. She ended up removing his drinks from the bill. Our appetizer was delicious and so was the sushi we ordered. Loved the little touches of the presentation with the food. Once again, we couldn't spot our waitress when we were ready for our bill. ...or even for more water. Go try Michiru out for their food. ...but don't have high expectations for service. read more

Went in for a mid week lunch. Not very busy. Service was pretty quick and we were checked up on often. Our server recommended some off the menu items that were really good. Sushi had a good mix of flavors. Didn't even need soy or wasabi but I still used some. Rolls did seem a little pricy but at least the taste and display was right. 4 rolls and 2 starters @ $75. I would like to go back in the evening to see how the ambiance changes. read more

Been here many times and always quality sushi. We came here for Mother's Day lunch and it did not disappoint. For Mother's Day they offered a free glass of house wine red or white. And a rose but for mother's only. There are other sushi places out there but Michiru is always quality and quality is the difference. Went here for the first time with my 7 year old son, who is having sushi for his second time. An infamously picky eater, he insisted on sushi for our lunch, and Yelp was helpful in finding MichiRu. We were very pleased with the service and quality of food. My son ate 5 pieces of sashimi, 3 pieces of California roll, 3 pieces of my tuna, and 2 pieces of my yellowfin. Parking here is ample. It's right in from of cinema 18. It's on the corner right next to marble slab. The sushi is fresh. I had king salmon, king crab, & bronzini. The king crab was ok. But the king salmon was good. The seaweed salad was fantastic!! At the bottom of the salad there is fresh thinly sliced cucumber and green apple! It is an excellent crisp combination. The miso soup was good. I wish there was more tofu in it but very flavorful in taste without being over the top. I usually don't eat rolls I prefer to just eat nigiri pieces but I decided to eat the dynamite roll. It was ok. There was too much sauce on it. It's a soft shell crab roll with cucumber and crab meat. It has eel and crunchy tempura on top. But there was way too much sauce on it. If it wasn't drenched in the sweet sauce it would have been better. For dessert I ordered a slice of the chocolate eruption cake. It was good. It tastes like a creamy snickers cake with bits of cheese cake inside. At first bite it might seem a little sweet but the more you eat you less control you have over yourself to not take another death by chocolate bite. read more

Paper thin tuna "pouches" stuffed with shrimp, more tuna, avocado and tempura flakes, served with several sweet and spicy sauces. The hot fish is also a great entree choice... sweet and sticky with a little spice. Prepare to spend a pretty penny here, though. Without booze we typically spend around $70 (including gratuity); adding booze usually puts us over $100. For a night out, not so bad. I randomly googled this place and I'm glad I did , it was great! Service and food. I had the bento box with chicken teriyaki,shrimp tempura, house salad and miso soup. The salad was a pretty large salad and nicely made , as well as the miso soup . Both were excellent . The bento box was huge, and the way the plate is set up is genius . I wasn't that big of a fan of the chicken teriyaki BUT everything else made up for that. The shrimp tempura was freshly made and huge, too big to finish lol . My waiter was amazing as well, very open and honest and served well. His name is James . I will definitely recommend people and will be back again :) read more

This is a great complement to an already plus sushi scene in the Clear Lake / Webster / League City / Bay Area. During all my visits the tables have been full. The service is quick, attentive, and friendly. The sushi itself is one star below my preferred place of Masa Sushi. Maybe not quite the variety and quality wise it just doesn't wow me as much. Not to keep comparing to Masa, but I like that atmosphere better (unique floor plan). Michiru is more less one big room and in some places, tight. Parking is widely available, near the movie theatre and other shopping options, you may walk a bit but no problem. We like to go with a group to order variety and share. The last visit, we ordered the Dancing Eel, Blue Marlin, and Waikiki. All were good and imaginative. Never had a problem with service here, it is adequately staffed. You may wait for a table during peak time because it's so small. There is one long bar with TVs. Because the room is small, you can see the TVs from anywhere. But not necessarily a great happy hour scene. Because I like sushi, this is probably my favorite place in the nearby area (which features a ton of variety and quality restaurants such as Chuy's, Rudy's, Twin Peaks, and others. Still prefer Masa Sushi for Sushi in the overall Clear Lake area, but this is a good location likely to thrive for years to come. read more

Chef's special, dancing eel and the chef's special with lobster on it (i think it's something called ___ twist) were all really good. I did not like the fire island one as much or the portobella rolll, or the sirloin roll either - the taste profile was too random and didn't mix well. Most of the other rolls were pretty good. We had kind of a long wait cause they took down the wrong number of people at first but once we were seated the food came out at a reasonable pace and the service was fine. I was totally expecting this place to suck because it's in Clear Lake. Wrong. I went with my family so I was able to sample a PLETHORA of stuff. Although I'm not sure if I'll remember all the names. It's a small place, about occupancy 40, and for some reason it's location next to Cinemark and McAllisters makes me think of it as less classy at first, but no, you could definitely have a fancier date inside. And the prices reflect that. Bargain hunters beware. First off, I'm a sashimi fan; meaning I like the taste of fish by itself. This is a good way to judge a restaurants procurement of their material. (Not kidding! About to nerd out on you...) Anyways, I know a lot of people frequenting sushi/Asian fusion places aren't this picky, but I want to be clear... this is where they could improve. Unless I'm much mistaken the salmon is clearly not wild caught. The ahi seemed fine, but a bizarre disappointment was the escolar. The red snapper is good, but the yellowfin was also mysteriously bland. Eel and octopus seem solid. I also had some sort of trout that was excellent. I realize that it would help to remember the excellent one's name but alas! Try their rolls though. At worst they're imaginative, and at best they are sublime. That's right. Sublime. I recently had a mango themed light roll in Miami that I thought I'd never be able to replicate because it was so light it was kind of like eating a seafood themed marshmellow. Well the Waikiki roll at this place does a nice job of filling that void in my life. But I also like spicy. The fire island roll tastes awesome, but beware spicy fans... it's not THAT spicy. Just spicy. Oh and mad props for serving ginger without the pink. Wth is that for anyways? I also had some concoction of fried crawfish with jalapeno, cream cheese. Not a fan simply because it's usually game over for me when you throw in cream cheese, but the rest of my table simply loved this roll. Noobs. Oh yeah, sweet potato roll. Maybe the only really healthy way to approach a potato. It's also a bargain. Get it. Now, what is totally awesome, and not quite on their menu yet, is something called rainbow seaweed salad. Specify the rainbow over the normal because this dish is awesome. It's served in a cute ice bowl with some sort of barely detectable dressing, but the most delicious pieces of fish are mixed in with your seaweed. Yum. Also great about this place is that it's a sushi place that you can get crunk at. Yeah. I said that. I've tried their version of what they claim was some Japanese iced tea with sake. It tasted like a long island to me, and lo and behold... had the awesome effects of a long island. I also tried the Lychee martini... very good. I had a Lychee martini at Blue in the Cayman Islands that was better... but that's a tough one to beat. Hope this helps. I'm at work and have to gooo! EDIT: I forgot to add that traffic around this area at the time of this review can be tricky. The Nasa Road 1 exit is closed, and you'll want to take the Nasa Bypass (which springs up on you seemingly without warning) if coming from the North. Exit bypass at Hwy 3 (first chance) and take left at Hwy 3. Take another left at Magnolia then you'll see the theater. read more

Our rolls came out as they were ready which was fine by us but may not be everyone's cup of tea (I couldn't get a Snap of all that sushi!). My favorite sushi restaurant in this neighbourhood. It probably doesn't seat more then 75 people & it does feel intimate enough for a date night. The restaurant is clean & well managed. The staff (most of them) have worked there since it opened,I believe that was a little less then 4 years ago. They do have a loyalty card that allows you to trade points accumulated for a cash discount on your bill. There's plenty of parking available all around the restaurant & it's easy to access from a few spots. They do have GF options but you need to ask them about it & GF soy sauce as well. A few of my favorite apps are the vegetable tempura & the tuna poke. Other staples are the seaweed salad made with green apples,the edamame & the miso are the same everywhere. The fish is delicious here,the super white tuna is my favorite sushi. They do have decent deals on sashimi & sushi combos. I do enjoy the signature rolls (I never eat the cooked ones anywhere because I think that's just wrong). The red dragon & I think the other one is called the blue marlin are my go to rolls,they're delicious & beautifully crafted. The bento boxes are good but nothing about them makes them special. The selection of sake is pretty varied from very sweet to dry. Be adventurous,try something different everytime! read more

In one week, I went from eating the best sushi meal in SoCal to eating one of the worse sushi meals when I ate at Michiru. We ate here because we were in the area and my wife had a craving for sushi. I was suspicious of eating sushi outside of Houston but from the Yelp reviews, I thought fellow yelpers would not steer me wrong. Unfortunately, my fellow yelpers have never eaten at any decent sushi restaurant, like ever. I ordered the sushi lunch meal, along with two pieces of flouder, maguro and yellowtail. I held back on ordering more since I was not sure it would be good sushi. My hesitation was confirmed when I saw the sushi arrived at the table. The sushi looked like an amateur had prepared it. When I tried to take the first bite of sushi, the rice fell off. I knew the reason when I ate the rice, which tasted as though it was last night's rice, hard and firm. The firmness kept the rice from sticking together. As for the fish, all the pieces of fish were awful and the albacore was almost inedible. After our meal, both my wife and I had stomach aches. This is really a shame because the server and staff were very nice and the restaurant is visually appealing. read more
