Michi Michi is the type of place truly deserving of your business. While it may appear to be a cute little ice cream shop, it offers so much more: aguas frescas, baked goods, homemade ice cream, snacks, and classic Mexican cuisine. The owner and chef, Ricardo, and his staff are attentive and personable. The elote fries are a great way to start a meal. I've also had a pork tamal/tamale. It was a bit dry, but I'm hoping it was just a one-time occurrence. I've tried four tacos on the menu: acorazado (fried chicken), al pastor, ceviche (marinated shrimp), and carnitas. Of those, the carnitas was by far my favorite. The pork is cooked with pig's feet, which noticeably enhances the flavor profile. I've also had the birria pizza. I personally prefer birria tacos, but have not tried them here yet. On the sweeter side, the aguas frescas, ice cream, and sweet bread are all must-tries. I've also gotten the chocolate-dipped banana. I would get this again, but the other sweets are superior. After sampling all the aguas frescas and ice cream flavors, I can honestly say I enjoyed them all. The ice cream stood out the most, as there are so many unique flavors. Prickly pear, gancito, tres leches, bubble gum, and piñon (pine nut) are just a few of the options available. As for the sweet bread, I got it on my way out, and it barely made it to my car. Although I loved the elote fries and carnitas taco, it was the sweets that impressed me the most. Most importantly, everything is made in-house. In a day and age where outsourcing has become so common, an establishment like Michi Michi cannot go unappreciated. read more

The food was authentic and delicious. Everything is homemade. I had 3 Quesabirrias with consume' and it is the best I have tasted in Michigan. The portion size is great, I actually couldn't finish my food and took the rest to go. The leftovers tasted great after heating it up in my air fryer. The service was on point. They answered all our questions and provided everything we needed. It's a cute little place and they stated most people get their food to go. They have two tables so they can seat a total of 8 people. The seats are triangle shaped so not really made for larger people. I'm still really glad we ate the food at Michi Michi's. Great street tacos. Tried the shrimp and the chicken - both very good. I ordered online. It's strange, because there are no photos or descriptions for most of the food. There is no carryout menu to take with you at the restaurant, so you can't order many things online using the descriptions (hopefully) on a carryout menu as a guide, unless you've already ordered those things in person and know what they are. I wish we had not ordered the tamales. First, I ordered two types: a mole' and a chicken. There was no place on the order app to order sauce - and I didn't know tamales just come dry, no choice of having sauce (and when I picked up, no one asked if we wanted to get some sauce). These were tamales meant as a takeout to eat, already heated, not a large packet of cold tamales to re-heat at home with one's own sauce. What we got instead of the two types of tamales was two chicken tamales that were worse than inedible. The masa was actually flavorful, good thing since the tamale was mostly masa, more than 90%. But unfortunately each of these chicken tamales had a tiny wad of long stringy strands of dried inedible stuff that may once have been chicken. It was an awful shock to take a bite and have these incredibly hard strings sticking out of your mouth. It kind of looked like leftover chicken that had been left to dry out a few days. Obviously, we couldn't and didn't eat the tamales. We won't be trying anything else after the tamale bad experience. It just isn't worth it: I worry about the rest of the meat dishes, given the horrid state of the tamale "chicken" . And not knowing what they're doing with the many many many items on the menu without the briefest description or photos, then the order being messed up, and then tamales that are served dry. Finally, about the website, it's very awful. There is this scrolling thing with photos of icecream and desserts mixed in with non-desserts, and you can't navigate the photos, they are scrolling on their own. Useless. Not labeled well. Then the website's ordering menu: difficult to navigate, no descriptions for most items, most items have no options for customizing (leave this off, add this, add SAUCE etc). It's just not "there" yet. I don't think this restaurant knows what it is trying to be. Is it an icecream store that gets awful tamales from somewhere (but also happens to make good chicken tacos) ? The focus is on desserts and they just also have some other stuff (without descriptions). Oh well. We tried it. read more

The two one star reviews should be reported and removed. They are obviously a competitor or someone with an ax to grind. You can tell with the fake compliment at the end. This place has the best Mexican food you can find outside of SW Detroit. They have great deserts too. All authentic. And the owner and employees have never been anything but welcoming. Love this place as it saves me from having to drive down to Mexicantown for authentic food and deserts. They are guaranteed to blow up once people discover them. I don't look forward to when they will be packed constantly. For now, a great find and not too busy. Never had to wait more than 10-12 min for my food. read more

Cute little shop with a great menu full of Mexican favorites. I went to pick up my special order of vegan tamales. While I was there I couldn't resist getting lunch too! The chicken on my order was delicious, not too spicy for my taste. They really piled the toppings on my sope, it was very filling. In addition to the extensive selection of lunch items, this shop has a full ice cream parlor, specialty fruit desserts and horchata and other beverages you don't find in this area. The cheery pink decor added a fun touch. I definitely need to come back for ice cream. They had several non dairy flavors and a big variety of flavors. read more
