Dr barely looked at my teeth during follow-up appointments and there was never a conversation about my treatment plan. The wait time was always 40min+. They would forget to call me when my new Invisalign aligners were ready. One time they ordered the previous set of aligners that I had already used for months. I'm glad I decided to reach out to ask because if I had continued to use the old aligners, my teeth would've moved all the way back. The front desk is unhelpful and not polite, even on the phone. From the moment I walked in, Anna at the front desk made me feel welcomed and comfortable. She was friendly, organized, and took the time to clearly explain all the payment details and options, which really helped me feel informed and confident moving forward. I never felt pressured -- just supported and well taken care of. Dr. Rocha was professional, knowledgeable, and very reassuring throughout the entire process. He explained everything clearly before starting and made sure I understood what to expect. I really appreciated how attentive and patient he was. Abby, the assistant who put my braces on, was amazing. She was gentle, thorough, and constantly checked in to make sure I was comfortable. Getting braces can feel intimidating, but she made the whole experience smooth and surprisingly easy. The office is clean, welcoming, and runs efficiently. From start to finish, it was such a positive first experience, and I'm actually excited to begin this journey. Highly recommend Valley Orthodontist and Dr. Rocha to anyone looking for quality, compassionate care in San Rafael!

He had Invisalign started a little over 2 years ago and now has a gorgeous set of straight teeth. They allowed him to be independent in going to his appointments and because of that he had gone from a teen with very questionable hygiene standards to being truly diligent (with no parental prodding!) in his dental care. He managed to not lose a single tray and I have to say it was as painless a process as I could have ever hoped for- considering he's a picky kid, this was the best route for him and I don't regret it at all. I credit the incredible attention and care of Dr. Rocha for helping him get through this milestone. Thank you!

Their office runs like a well oiled machine. They are always on time, and they handle claims submission and payment like pro's. I see another reviewer that seems to have had a bad experience with the insurance piece, but that was not my experience at all. Most importantly, they seem to know everything there is to know about Invisalign. I had done Invisalign through a general dentist about 9 years ago and the experience was totally different. I would highly recommend going to an expert if you are going to invest several thousand dollars for treatment (mine was about $5,000 for a year-long treatment plan).

I've been disappointed by how much the pricing has increased over time, particularly for something…read moreas straightforward as a replacement retainer. There no longer seems to be any consideration or loyalty pricing for long-term patients. After calling around to other local orthodontic offices, I found comparable replacement retainers for nearly half the cost, and overall pricing differences that can amount to thousands of dollars for similar services. I've had orthodontic care at other offices in the past, including a more affordable practice in Novato (now retired) and Wilson, and the quality of results was the same. Unfortunately, this office now feels far more expensive than others offering comparable care. While the staff and outcomes have been ok, the pricing no longer feels competitive or reflective of long-standing patient relationships. I would encourage prospective patients to compare pricing with other offices before committing. Also, most advanced offices offer scanners instead of molds, so much more precise! And now if one loses retainer the can use scan avoiding costly old fashion mold replacement. Probably no good for $ for dentist but great for patients!

Where do I even begin?! After a very traumatic accident that rearranged a few of my front teeth,…read more my orthodontic case was very challenging. I previously consulted with a few orthodontists, none of which seemed to have an answer to how to treat me, until I met with Dr Valley. She listened to every concern, thought, question, and idea that I had and thoroughly explained each and every possible route to restoring my beautiful smile. I approached this with caution as an adult about to go into braces again, but Dr Valley reassured me that even though I had one front tooth fused to the bone and in a very awkward position, that she would put her brain and networking connections to the test to deliver the best results possible. Dr Valley really put so much after-hours personal time into emailing, calling, and brainstorming with my photos and xrays with every other specialty dentist (root canals, crowns, and plastic surgeons) to deliver what she promised. Her unimaginable skill and knowledge of all aspects of dentistry combined with the ease at which she presented her action plan to me really put my nerves to rest. Her staff was wonderful, always explaining every step that was being taken and what I would expect. I really bonded with Dr Valley and her office, they sure did see enough of me! She never hesitated to come early or stay late to do a last minute appointment for my busy schedule. I can't truly express my gratitude and how extremely happy I am with my results...she always put so much thought and effort into my treatment, I know I wouldn't have gotten the same commitment anywhere else!

I find communicating with her to be an odd experience most of the time though... There are an unusual amount of awkward pauses and a tone that seems to imply I might not understand the basic information I'm being given. I always feel as if I'm having a conversation with a robot that has been programmed to speak to children. I haven't decided whether to chalk it up to personality quirks, which intelligent people often have, or if she's maybe judging my intelligence on my appearance. I may not fit the mold of mundane suburban existence, but I do hold an advanced degree in a field of life science, not that one needs to in order to understand a basic update regarding their kid's braces. Anyway, the rest of the office staff are very easy to communicate with and highly organized. All in all I would recommend them.

He listened to my concerns, advised on the next immediate steps and also put a plan together for long-term goals. He uses the most up to date and innovative technology, yet is still conservative and incredibly mindful in his methodology and treatment. As a dentist myself, it is of the utmost importance for me that my son has not only a comprehensive approach, but also a thoughtful one considering all the different factors in his development. I value Dr. Carlson's expertise and respect his pragmatic approach. I know he is not only looking at my son's teeth and skeletal development, but also his current and future smile, his airway, his speech, his future experience with orthodontics and how all of this will affect his social development and overall health from childhood to adulthood. Aside from being in the field of dentistry, as a Mom I also need to follow my intuition and after our first visit I know my son is in great hands.
