Update: After my original review, I was told that Dr. Gorton had agreed to a full refund of everything paid for my daughter's treatment. We followed up to accept that resolution, and were then told that Dr. Gorton had "taken the offer off the table." This doctor seriously injured my child, left her treatment unfinished without regard for my daughter's health, and has now withdrawn the refund that was previously offered for treatment that was never completed. The result is that care that took years is now reversing, and we are having to pay additional thousands of dollars to address the damage. Based on our family's experience, the lack of follow-through and reversal of promises and agreements made has made an already devastating situation even worse. Any prospective new patient should be very cautious. Based on our family's experience, when something went seriously wrong, we were left with no meaningful recourse other than formal legal action, and no care for the actual patient and their treatment. read more

I am so glad I ended up giving this place another shot. Dr. Gorton addressed my prior grievance head-on, didn't make excuses, explained what happened, apologized, and adjusted processes so it wouldn't happen again. Essentially, I booked the consultation online at the same time that someone was booking the same slot in the office and the people who likely would have identified the problem were on holiday. The specifics don't really matter, but she could truly teach a masterclass on apologies and fixing damaged trust. It was impressive. The appointment itself took about an hour and included imaging and creating a treatment plan for my 7 yo daughter based on the findings. Dr. Gorton is obviously very smart and seems extremely capable. The office is super clean. It has an awesome living wall. The only thing I would change is that I would have liked to have a little more time to figure out the best way to pay. We got a quote at the end, and while it was actually very reasonable, there are different ways to pay such as in full, down payment + monthly payments, etc. Our family has dental insurance through two employers, HSA funds, and FSA funds it would have been nice to work through the various scenarios to figure out the best way to pay for the treatment plan while maximizing the benefits we get through work and insurance. I expect that the process will become much more familiar with my younger girls as we move through this process with them, but it is my first time doing this so it's really unfamiliar. I will update further as we get more into the treatment plan in the coming months. read more

People that haven't seen me in a while stare while I'm speaking with them. I can tell they aren't listening to me and trying to figure out what is different. I'm smiling :) Wow Wow Wow is all I can say! What amazing experience with a well organized, friendly, professional, and effective team. My teeth have been a mess forever, and finally I was able to do something about it. About 12 weeks in something went wrong and one of my teeth stopped moving but that was no match for Dr. Gorton. She calmly explained the issue and made a few adjustments and viola back on track. She has an amazingly detailed eye and great beside manner. I started w/ Dr. Schron who also was so great to work with. Everything was clear, laid out perfectly, adjusted as needed, and there were not extra costs after the initial quote, even though they had to make adjustments for me and my teeth took longer than they estimated. I should mention they seemed to have nabbed the top Registered Dental Assistants in the area: Parisa, Katie, and Samantha. Over my time to completion I had several appointments and it's as if no one there has ever had a bad day or were in a funky mood. I'd go back just to say hello they were so great. I can't recommend them enough. The only thing I would say to watch for is sometimes the app isn't catching stuff in terms of tracking progress so don't miss your in person appts. Dr. Gorton and Dr. Sola won't miss it, and that will keep you on the fast pace. It feels so great to be able to smile in person or on camera without that feeling people are gawking at my teeth. Dr. Gorton is a great orthodontist. She is thoughtful and listens to her patients. I am not an easy patient, I am an adult needing Invisalign to adjust spacing to update my 2 fake teeth, with an implant and a veneer, both in front of my smile and not adjacent. Dr Gorton is meticulous and thorough, as a perfectionist, she makes decisions with lots of knowledge and training which gives her the skills to think beyond the basic needs of the patient but also future impact both functionally and esthetically. Dr. Schmohl also ground down my front teeth without my permission. After my treatment was complete, he "evened out my bottom teeth." This was a mistake ...but they got their photos. Now that my teeth have settled they are more uneven then before. Without even asking, Schmohl ground the corners of my upper incisors. They were very nice looking...BEFORE he ground them down. I said, "What did you do to my upper teeth?" He said, "They have a more youthful look." He is some kind of egomaniac. read more

Orthodontics is so much more than just braces for crooked teeth these days and their knowledge of advanced airway issues is top tier! I took my step daughter here after attending a lecture Dr. Gorton gave about airway concerns in children. She taught me that taking a child in for evaluation before age 7 can be life changing, and for us it was. My step daughter had a very serious thumb sucking habit on top of a severely crowded mouth. She snored and slept with her mouth open every night and never seemed to be well rested. In just a few months they encouraged her to stop her habit and placed an expander that instantly corrected some of these concerns. She no longer snores, is sleeping better and doing better in school and is now very excited to start her Invisalign treatment. This is the fast food of orthodontics. They wanted 9 grand after a 15 min consultation. Wouldn't let me speak with the person drawing up the procedure. They only let you speak with the assistant. They treat you like a product on an assembly line. Slightly rude and passive aggressive when you ask important questions about the the procedure. Also... had a consultation about a year ago and they wanted 7 thousand. Had another consultation yesterday and now they want 9 thousand. Go somewhere else... read more

Dr. Gorton and team are the best orthodontists ANYWHERE. A few years ago I decided I'd had enough of my bad bite, and went to interview 2-3 orthodontists with good ratings. It was obvious from the start that Marin Ortho was the best choice. First of all, they LISTENED to me. If I EVER had a concern or question, they were available, totally respected every single one of my requests and in the end, they really gave me an amazing bite and smile. It was miles away from great when I started. I had gone to them because I thought I wanted braces on the back of my teeth, but they convinced me to go with Invisalign and I'm so glad they did. In the end, they are more gentle and my improved bite will last much longer. In the interview process, a different orthodontist said he would have had to break my jaw to make any difference. That's SO invasive. NO THANK YOU. (they were fired, or never hired, because of their high-intervention, ridiculous approach.) Drs Gorton and Schmol have been amazing. And a special mention to Kiauna for getting the point where she could scan me without once making me gag. So, I have been a long-term patient of this practice. I can't say enough about how wonderful the whole staff really is. I had a complicated case that required many hours in the chair and involved orthognathic surgery at Stanford. I required at least 2X OR MORE treatment time than their average patient. They never charged me an additional fee. They could've and I would have been fine. My teeth look fabulous as well. I have been by all the doctors, and they are superbly trained and talented. read more
