From the get go, the waiting room immediately put him at ease, with legos and books for him to play with. Then the dental team helped even more by being playful, friendly, and kind. I had started an Invisalign process years ago, when I still lived in SF, that I ended up not completing. After moving to Marin, I decided to finish my treatment, but didn't relish the idea of making the drive to downtown SF to do so. I have gone round and round in my mind as to if i would write a review for Marin Braces as i am a small businesses owner myself. I have three kids ,all of them went through braces at MB, (oldest was with the former practices owner ). Ultimately i would not recommend them . If we had not paid in full in cash we would have pulled them earlier ( as did friends of ours ) Covid was hard on all of us but man did they not handle it well. We started my daughter's care here as a recommendation from our insurance. We live in San Rafael and it was a bit if a drive but decided to check them out. Dr. Miller is wonderful. Super friendly, engaged in his work and his very kind with children. As my daughters care continued there, I had more opportunities to interact with the front staff (booking appointments, rescheduling, understanding the contract better, etc). It was during these moments of help from the front staff when my opinion of the office shifted. Particularly with Amber. When we needed to schedule a follow up appointment we were they had to be morning appointments, which was a challenge as we lived in San Rafael, and that it needed to be morning because it was to be a longer appointment. Each time we did those morning appointments they were never as long as we were told and typically only 10-15 minutes. Not the 45 that we were told and expecting. My daughters care was projected to be completed within 1year. As the year approached they changed that projection and added another 7+ months. Knowing that making these appointments would still be a challenge I decided to check in with Orthodontists closer to us in San Rafael. We found Dr. Michelle Gonzales and saw her to potentially transfer my daughters treatment. She had her own opinions about the treatment with my daughter but ultimately didn't see any reason to keep the braces on any longer as she felt her teeth were at their best position. We switched offices, got my daughters braces taken off and finished up her treatment with Dr. Gonzales' office. While taking care of any loose ends at Dr. Miller's office, again, Amber difficult. When I called to initiate the transfer, I was told we would get reimbursed for the retainer that was never given considering my daughters braces were never removed at their office. After a few weeks of waiting for that refund and not receiving it I called to office to double check. Left a message with the front dest and got an email reply stating that there would be no refund because the office put in more work than the original contract called for. Why couldn't the office have kindly called me to notify me of their mistake and clearing everything up? Instead, I had to reach out. When I aksed more questions for clarity, Amber became even more short and her email responses were down right rude. Like I should have known that our care exceeded our contract (that we paid in full at the beginning of treatment) and that I Shouldn't expect any refund, despite having been told that by their front desk person. Ultimately, the experience with the front office personnel has changed my mind of the office. I wouldn't recommend them and am happy to not being going up their any longer. If you are looking for an orthodontist in Marin-Michelle Gonzales in San Rafael and her staff have been lovely, kind, firendly, helpful and up front about all teh work we've been doing with them. read more

My son had his orthodontic work done here (almost done!). Everything -- timeline, cost, insurance, what to expect -- was laid out at the beginning, making it easy to understand. Appointments, making the next ones, reminders, payments -- all those issues that are tough for working parents were made easy for us. There were probably 2-3 times that my son had to miss some hours of school, and I wasn't quite happy about it, but I think that's expected for the appointments that require longer treatments. Other times were scheduled well for kids. What we really loved was the doctors and staff made sure that our son understood what it means to get an orthodontic care. It is a gift, not given. So the kids should appreciate the fact that they were able to receive the straight teeth -- and that they should take care of them for life. Better than great. I don't know what I would have done if Marin Braces hadn't excepted taking on my daughters braces that had already be installed in a different country and hadn't been adjusted in 3 months. My daughter had a severe over bite. I did not know her lower jaw was slanted until they told me. I was told when she got them installed she might need corrective jaw surgery later on around 18. I was shocked. Then as well by the orthodontists at Marin Braces and it might be for the braces to help. They still wanted to try. The results have been tremendous! Over the last several months I have watched my daughters face change. It has been amazing. After the most recent appointment. My daughter actually cried when she saw that her face had changed and evened out more. She said "Mom. My bottom teeth don't touch the rough of my mouth anymore. I have a jaw line now. My profile matches now. Look!" I had noticed how much better her lower jaw was matching her face. Before her chin was not inline with her nose. Now it was! It was incredible. It is amazing the changes that have happened and we are so grateful. Her teeth look really good too. The Drs and staff are patient and extremely helpful. I feel lucky to have found them. Going to the dentist/ orthodontist gives me anxiety but I knew from the second I walking into the office I was going to like it. The ladies at the front desk were so friendly and sweet. We joined this practice in the beginning with Dr. C. My child was drawn to his dog Baxter. A few months after we joined, he sold the practice to a husband wife team, Dr. Kahn and Dr. Miller. We have seen both providers but my child prefers Dr. Kahn. The support staff is wonderful. Very friendly and understanding. I went there to get a quote on invisalign for my mildly crooked teeth. I went through the entire exam and the young woman who was putting together a quote for me said that I needed to have all my dental work done on my teeth prior to getting the invisalign. She called my dentist (that I no longer go to, but will not go into it here,) and my dentist said I had to pay $5,000 out of pocket to get my teeth in good shape before I can even consider invisalign. Plus, the invisalign there would be for 18 months and was $4,500 even after my insurance paid $2,000 of it. So, of course, I said no. I can't afford that because it would cost me $10,000!!!! As a long time sales person (over 35 years), I told her that she should first find out about work on one's teeth before a person comes in for an appointment for invisalign because that's a waste of both the dentist's and my time. So, I went to another dentist for a second opinion and got a quote for a lot less and they said I would only need my invisalign for 6 months! I would never recommend these people to anyone, young and old. Nope! read more

I agree with S G. The network of Dentists and Orthodontists in Novato think so highly of themselves it's off the charts. Most importantly, instead of pleasing the customer they are "put off" and a second opinion means you are a difficult person. In fact you have been diagnosed with TMJ and your bite has been altered eventually you cannot find a professional in Novato to fix the dental care that you need. And if you do the doctors in Novato don't want to "be the bad guy" to complete the work. Dr C saw me gave me a quote the rudely backed off from the job. It happened after I requested my molds from another local orthodontist. His secretary rudely hung up the phone when I called for the appointment. Just beware that once you are on the black list in Novato you might have a difficult time finding another dentist on your side. We are after consumer looking for a true professional that will keep his word. My previous dentist Dr Rosenthal also mistreated me because of the situation. I was evaluated by the ADA but it did not matter. Still seeking help. From who ? Not Novato These docs also belong to Novato Business Association but rather ask you to leave the county. Recntly Yelp asked me to make sure I was accurate with this business. This doctor kindly saw me gave me a quote which was reasonable. I had confidence he could finish the incomplete work I had done. He happily offered to help when I had the money. Did a payment plan then when I called to make an appointment the secretary exclaimed HE IS NOT going to help you!. Then hung up. Both of my kids received orthodontic care from Dr. C. We had to start early with him when my son lost his 3 year molars about 5 years before he should. In addition to that space maintainer, my son went through two rounds of treatment, and my daughter had one.
