During my visit, I was searching for specific sketch pencils and met an elderly woman (around 80 years old) who was struggling to find certain paint brushes. She had already been looking for quite some time, and I spent about 30 minutes helping her before we decided to call the store for assistance. Heather answered the call and came to the back of the store within minutes. She spent significant time helping us locate the exact paint brushes needed (sizes #2 and #8), searching inventory, scanning items, and even helping us find additional ones that were on sale so the customer could purchase the quantity she needed. She then continued helping me search for my items as well. What impressed me most was that while assisting us, Heather was also helping multiple other customers, answering questions, and supporting her team through her headset--all while remaining calm, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. I have rarely seen someone provide this level of attentive, multitasking customer service with such a positive attitude. I did mention this to a manager in-store, but I wanted to ensure Heather receives formal recognition as well. She is an outstanding employee and a true asset to your team. read more

We clicked "ON OUR WAY", then arrived there, clicked on "I'M HERE" and then it asked what SPACE # we were parked in. We did all that, and screen said they'll be out soon with our order. Waited, waited, waited, sat there, waited, and finally called the store and asked if they knew we were sitting there. The girl said, "we don't have enough employees to bring your order out, so you have to come inside the store". We told her that's impossible, we're not dressed correctly to be getting out of the car (hence doing Curbside), and that we had our dogs with us & they were not leashed & can't be left in the car alone. The girl told us to go back home and basically change our clothing, get leashes, and then go back to the store, to go inside. We called Michaels Corporate Office in TX, and reported her and the incident. They gave us our money back, and apologized profusely, saying this was completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and that this is NOT what Michaels stands for. read more

This review is for corporate to read. I implore you to try to make changes. I'm perplexed at what is happening in Michael's. I went July 2nd to grab some light up wearables for Fourth of July. I walk in and I was shocked. Halloween decor was out for sale....on July 2?!!!!! Why? It's two weeks into summer and all that was left for Fourth of July was one small rack. All the cute summer stuff was mixed up on 70% off shelves over by picture frames. Why three aisles of frames??? Do people even use printed photos anymore? I will say that the balloon section which was split up between two areas was very well stocked. I managed to pick up 6 individual balloons but because there's no sku on them, a kind and efficient employee had to ring them up by hand and go back and forth to the shelf to see which ones I grabbed. Self checkout is the only option but if you have an employee helping people stuck at self checkout why wouldn't you just have a cashier there? It's so inexplicable. Seasonal has one empty aisle and there was a stocking cart blocking the one that was stocked. Some cute stuff going on but his location needs to rethink its timing selling merchandise. I did buy some birthday balloons and some light up earrings. I come here in the proper seasons to buy Halloween and holiday decor because the prices have no competition. I love love love Michael's but please don't rush through the seasons. Fall equinox is September 22. I guess I got to come in April for Fourth of July stuff? read more

Michaels is always a good time. I've stopped by this location for decor, frames, craft supplies, etc. It is well stocked in my opinion and pretty organized. Excited Halloween season items are getting put out!! I always find some cute year round decor from their collections. Check out is now all self check out. They do have a staff member up front if you need any help. And they have always been very kind and helpful. Use those coupons!!!!! I did curb pickup for my order. I checked in when I arrived at the pick up stall waited 15 minutes, but no one brought my order out. I went inside and there were two employees standing around. I said I have been waiting at the curbside for my order but no one came out. The female employee just looked at me and asked for my last name. She couldn't find my order but I found it right away and got my own order. She didn't say anything and I left. Such bad customer service. read more

The employees who were working were disinterested in actually assisting customers. I wandered the store for 15 or so minutes looking for the item I needed. Staff steadfastly refused any eye contact. I eventually gave up and went to Hobby Lobby. Was greeted when I walked in, shown where my item was (I bought 2!) and I was done. Needed a black, iron-on, fabric repair patch. Simple, right? Nope. After a bit of searching (I had the right aisle, but their iron-on tapes and patches were oddly split into two area on opposite sides), I discovered the item was out of stock. Okay - that happens. Seeing no one around (always hard to find people there), I took a pic of the UPC code on the shelf tag and went to the front. I waited in the check out line behind a couple people for the only employee I saw. I showed him the pic and he said that shipments come in on Fridays. Well, this was Friday. I asked if he was able to confirm that the item would be on that shipment. He said he couldn't tell. I then asked for a supervisor, saying they should know. He said he'd check to see if someone was available. I told him they should be available - interaction is part of what they do. He radio'd somebody but I could only hear his side of the conversation. Apparently there's no way to tell what's on the truck. I pointed out how that made no sense. Does corporate just send random items? Somehow, someone must alert them to what is needed. They must also get some record of what will be coming or discontinued. This is not complex. Other entities do it. For example, Costco can tell me how many of any given item will be arriving and on what date. The records exist somewhere. Just let me know so I don't return prematurely. In any case, the non-visible supervisor said there was no way to tell. But what a time-saver for them!! They don't have to go through any manifest when the shipment arrives to be sure they received everything they were supposed to... Yeah, right. At least Target is around the corner. And there's always Amazon as a fall-back. read more

*DO NOT ORDER SAME DAY DELIVERY* I ordered same day delivery for the first time with this store, and two hours later, I still had no update. Speaking with the store was no help, and so I called the official Michaels number and also used their online chat. BOTH REPRESENTATIVES LIED TO ME and told me my order was picked up and was out for delivery. The time it was apparently picked up was a time in the future. So it was impossible that it was picked up. Sure enough, upon calling the store again, it was confirmed that my order was never picked up. I was lied to TWICE by Michaels representatives. Unfortunately I am currently unable to drive, and I assumed at that point I would never receive my order. And so I cancelled. I won't ever shop at Michaels again knowing their customer support blatantly lies about order status. Please take caution when placing same delivery orders with them. read more

I asked for help at the yarn and needle department. A staff helped me and call the manager, I waited 15 minutes and no body showed up. Walked to the same girl and asked if I buy and can't use it, can I return it? She said yes. While waiting in line to pay, I saw other staff and asked, she said no if it's open. Ugh! A couple of friends had a very craft intense project that they wanted to initiate. I am really not the crafty type in so I went to Joannes in search of 6 mm millimeter 10 mm 13 mm beads and crimpers and wire cutters and vinyl coated wire and all of this was a whole new world to me. I am almost 8 months pregnant and I stood in that aisle and Joanne's for 2 1/2 hours without anybody asking if I needed help and I found some of the beads I was looking for but I actually was surprised at how expensive they were even though they were on sale. My friends told me to return my goods at Joannes and head on over to Michael's and I could not be happier with my experience there. I was helped almost immediately and provided with a crimper tool in crimper bed covers which came in handy because first time beaters sometimes make mistakes as I have. I'm so glad the sales person knew what she was doing/what she was talking about! I ended up making a JUZU bead set for meditation purposes and it came out beautifully -- thank you so much Michaels! Going up a star for my experience with this store today. I had called them earlier in the day to ask about items that are pictured on their website, but listed as "purchase in store". The Moorpark location doesn't stock the items. They suggested calling Westlake. By chance, the manager ended up helping me. She took the stock numbers and found multiple selections on her sales floor of the type of item I was seeking. Then we talked about the fact that they just had a sale end yesterday, and this class of stock wasn't on sale right now. I am part of their rewards program, and should have received a discount email. She said I could use one she had in the store, as she could tell from the email contents that I am in the program. When I went in this evening, they did have lots of selection in the planner section, as promised. I also checked the yarn area. Found a totally new kind of yarn that I'm anxious to see how it will work up. The store seemed more pulled together than it sometimes is, and the checkout line moved quickly. I got what I came for, plus the new yarn. The manager was already gone for the day, but her kind help on the phone set up a good visit for when I stopped in later. read more

Came in looking for material to make a stencil to go on top of a bread I was baking. Initially, I couldn't find a sales associate for assistance until I spotted Raquel. I asked her where I might find material to use to make a waterproof stencil. She was quite hurried, told me that what I was seeking was not available in the store. She did tell me where the exacto knives were located and that only one type was sold. I then asked if there might be another person to help me that wasn't in such a rush and had more time. She told me she was just called to Framing as the store was very busy. She further informed me she was one of the managers and no one in the store knew about stencils. Very interesting, I said to myself, as this is a craft store. So I walked down one of the isles and came upon a very nice sales associate named Brittany. I'm so glad everyone wears their name pins. Brittany did her best to help and when she couldn't find the right material she asked Marlin who was also very kind. He found just what I needed. I've never witnessed this level of incompetence and disregard to a customer's experience before at a store. They got my online order wrong, gave me an extremely difficult time replacing it, offering no solutions whatsoever. Their tone and attitude is super unprofessional. Then after 20 minutes of waiting they gave me an item with missing parts and when I asked for another replacement they continued to be incompetent, rude, and unhelpful. The framing department at this location provides knowledgeable and expert advice. After we came back from our Alaskan adventure, we had several wonderful prints that we absolutely wanted to frame and to display at our house. While I don't remember the name of the person who helped us at Michael's, I can say that he was really good at helping us pick the right frame material, frame color and matting. We must have spent over an hour looking at various framing options at Michael's. The end result was simply gorgeous. We really enjoyed our framing experience at Michael's. Went to buy canvases, found a 3 pack from a bunchthat were stacked there; priced for $3, took it to tegister & they would not honor the price ebenthough there was a stack of them. David the manager or supervisor said it was just over by someone & he wouldn't honor it. False advertisement & how does it ALL get pushed to that sign, he took off the price. Won't be going back. Manager was rude & entitled. You are supposed to honor the price that the item is priced. Not my fault someone stocked all of them there. read more

They have the worst customer service here. No one cares to help you find anything you need. I was looking for someone on the floor to ask if they had a tree in stock. No one was around so I scanned the tag on the display one and pulled the item up online. I get to the checkout and ask the cashier if he can look. "Do you have the item number?" I say "here is the listing online" and zoom in on the item number. He responds "no not that number the number of the tree" am I supposed to know this? I say "oh I don't know what that means. Oh here it is, lot #130?" And replies "no that's not it" okaaaay I guess I'll run back over there to take a picture of the tag? I do that and come back to cash register (mind you no one is in line behind us) and I show him the tag and surely it says "lot #130." He asks a girl working if she knows if it's in stock. She doesn't even look at any information and said "no the system just hasn't updated and I know I just sold the last one." I said "online it's showing available for pick up." again she says no I know I sold the last one. We go back to the cash register and one of the items doesn't have a tag. The guy asks if we can go get another one off the shelf. Hello?! I don't work here?? So we go back to the shelf and come back to the register, he scans it, and doesn't take the extra item to put back himself.. nope we were holding it still while he said it's up to us if we want to walk it back to the shelf, he said "well it's up to you, I don't need it." He has us walk it back to the shelf to put back. I ordered the tree online for pickup and now I have to go all the way back (across town for me) to pick it up because employees can't be bothered to service their customers. read more

Ron in the framing department is truly one of a kind. He went the extra mile on every inch of a project I ordered. He absolutely went beyond excellent customer service and I am eternally grateful to him! We had a frame made about a year ago, and it burned in the fire. I had come back in to get another one remade, but with cork and fabric. It's not something I would say they normally do, but he truly listened and helped me. This is the second closest Michaels to where I live (which is honestly still pretty close). Big store (just like most Michaels), they usually have a nice selection. It's rare that I see the store I stocked. Depending on what time you go the staff can be on short supply, but super helpful nonetheless. read more

Poor customer service. When we place online orders for pick up, they always package the wrong items. If it's because they're out of stock, they don't inform us nor do they reimburse us the difference between what we ordered and what we got. Never apologetic. I have really had it with this Michael's. Do they ever stock their shelves? Any time I have ever wanted to buy more than one of an item I have either had to special order it (and they never call to tell you it is in) or go to another Michael's to find more. Shelves are usually pretty empty as though the day before has always been a major holiday. Usually it has just been a Tuesday. The store is in a great location with plenty of parking so it could potentially be good. There is also never anyone to help you. Come on Michael's, this is Westlake Village; step it up! ****UPDATE****I am not sure what happened but this Michael's has had a total change in customer service. I always give credit where credit is due. There are at least five employees on the floor to assist customers as of last week. Adam helped us in the custom frame department at Michael's (Aaron brothers) We really did not know how to get started and we needed some professional guidance. We brought in some of our own prints and we started doing it ourselves until Adam stepped in. He was pleasant enough but it seemed like we were disturbing him at first because he wasn't the friendliest. He did his job and we are happy with the things we ordered. We spent just about five hundred dollars on three custom frames, I guess I just wished he was nicer to us. We could have gone anywhere in reality. The store was clean, no one really greeted us or anyone for that matter, but the checkout process was fast. In short, I guess I'd go somewhere else for professional frame work in the future, but for a quick craft the store is fine for that. read more
